Between hills and valleys
Find your adventure between hills and valleys
The area around the river Gudenå called Bakkelandet (the hilly countryside) is characterised by wonderful wildlife, lots of lakes, forests, and some of the highest hills in Denmark.
Welcome to Bakkelandet, where steep hills and deep forests shape the landscape. Here, you’ll find time and space for being with your family and friends and exploring new things. Meet the friendly locals and delve into great food experiences.
The rolling forests and beautiful valleys hold something for everyone - the mountaineer, the canoe lover, the history-buff and the outdoor-enthusiast.
When your eyes grow weary from all the beauty, you can recharge in one of the many charming towns around the countryside. Near the source of the the river Gudenå and the marshland Uldum Kær, you’ll find the town of Tørring – the perfect starting point – or resting space – for your adventure in nature. The town is caracterised by a tight-knit community, who’s main priority is to welcome you as a guest. Join community-dinners, visit Tørring Camping, get a traditional Danish ice cream at the ice parlor, and set out on the Gudenå in a canoe – if you dare.
In Brædstrup you’ll find several delicious eateries in the vicinity. Enjoy a classic lunch at Det Gamle Posthus or in the restaurant of Hotel Pejsegården. A short drive from the centre of Brædstrup and close to the gently flowing river Gudenå, you will also find the restaurant Det Lille Røgeri and the café at Sdr. Vissing Torvehal.
