Get Involved Meet the Artists & The Director’s Chair Meet the Artists are post-performance Q&A sessions with cast members from the production. They give your students a chance to ask any burning questions about the production, and are perfect for the groups with assessment tasks relating to the performance. In 2015, school students will be offered a rare window into the rehearsal room. Post-performance, the director will re-rehearse a key scene from the production live on stage. The scene will be reimagined and reconceptualised with the actors before the students’ eyes to demonstrate crucial elements of the director’s craft. This interactive behind-the-scenes experience will allow students to ask their burning questions about the practical process of creating theatre. Meet the Artists will take place after every 11am schools matinee, except on the second Thursday matinee of each season when the Meet the Artists will be replaced with The Director’s Chair event. 7 February - 7 March Recommended for Years 8 - 12 Four awkward teens find themselves entangled in a god-awful love quadrangle. A sextet of amateur drama enthusiasts earnestly rehearse a play for a wedding. The Godfather and Godmother of the fairies are locked in a bitter argument over an adopted child, which they seek to resolve through the careless application of dodgy witchcraft. Benjamin Schostakowski, director of multi award-winning A Tribute of Sorts, transplants Shakespeare’s enchanted lovers, fools and fairies from the wilderness of Athens to a nostalgia-tinged vision of Australian suburbia. Think lava lamps, slide nights and macramé wall-hangings. A Midsummer Night’s Dream promises to deliver a sensuous cocktail of hyper-theatricality; equal parts strange, dark and hilarious.

30 May – 20 June Recommended for Years 10, 11 & 12 When Medea fell for Jason, she fell hard. Hard enough to sacrifice everything to be with him. She deceived her father, committed murder, left the comforts of her homeland and bore him two sons. So when a power-hungry Jason takes up with a younger woman, Medea’s humiliation quickly turns to revenge and a horrible plan is hatched. Nothing is off limits. No one is safe. Not even the children. Acclaimed Australian playwright Suzie Miller’s elegant adaptation will be played in the round, in Chris Kohn’s La Boite directorial debut.

5 - 26 September Recommended for Years 11 & 12 Join us ringside at Brisbane Festival 2015 as we transform the Roundhouse into a boxing arena and take you on a high-impact ride from Africa to Australia and back again. A talented young boxer, Isa is preparing for the biggest fight of his career. On the line is the national title and the promise of fame and riches beyond his wildest dreams. What unfolds is a modern-day fable of a Congolese boy orphaned by war and forced to become a child soldier by the very people who killed his family. La Boite Artist-in-Residence Future D. Fidel writes with the undeniable force of authenticity. Fleeing the Congo as a child, he lived in a Tanzanian refugee camp for eight years before being granted refugee status in Australia.
