AFLCA Foundations in Physical Activity and Exercise Course new!

The Fitness Alberta ‘Foundations in Physical Activity and Exercise’ course (formerly ‘Exercise Theory’ course) covers basic fitness principles such as anatomy, physiology, movement mechanics, class design, exercise analysis, training, nutrition, leadership, and more. This is a 24-hour course and is the prerequisite to all other Fitness Alberta® certification courses.

Dates: May 5 – 7

Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Location: Bold Center

Cost: $280 (includes manual)

Ages: 18+ years

AFLCA Group Exercise Fundamentals new!

The Fitness Alberta ‘Group Exercise Fundamentals’ course provides evidence-based foundations for you to instruct group exercise classes safely and effectively. Topics covered include the history of group exercise, trends, leadership, legal responsibility, exercise analysis, movement combinations, cueing, music, special populations, and more. This is a 12-hour course and is the prerequisite to any of the designation courses (cycle, step, choreography, portable equipment, mind-body).

Dates: May 12 & 13

Time: May 12 (7:00 am – 10:00 pm), May 13 (8:00 am – 5:30 pm)

Cost: $200 (includes manual)

Ages: 18+ years

Fast track to becoming a certified group fitness instructor!

Participants must attend and complete all 3 courses to become certified.

AFLCA Group Exercise Designation Course: Portable Equipment new!

The Fitness Alberta ‘Portable Equipment Designation’ course teaches you how to use a variety of portable equipment in group exercise classes in order to incorporate elements of fitness such as balance, strength, endurance, and flexibility. Topics covered include hands-on practice, safety considerations, as well as teaching modifications, alternatives, regressions, and progressions. This 8-hour course provides the basic skills you need to deliver portable equipment classes safely and effectively.
