ontestants for the first tandem Miss Missouri Volunteer and Miss Missouri Teen Volunteer pageant (planned to be an annual event) wowed guests and judges at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center on Jan. 8. After contestants (each in her best “winter chic” wear) walked the red carpet, they fielded questions from emcees Amber Johansen and Jillian McKay about their volunteer platforms. At the pageant, 11 Miss Missouri Teen and 12 Miss Missouri contestants vied in talent, evening gown, and fitness and wellness events, as well as a private interview. Greta Clark, Miss Forest Park Teen, was crowned Miss Missouri Teen Volunteer. Victoria Shore, Miss Mizzou Volunteer, was crowned Miss Missouri Volunteer. Clark’s platform supports the Ronald McDonald House: Built by Kindness initiative, and Shore’s focuses on Women in Media: Representation, Empowerment and Media Literacy. The inaugural Miss Missouri Volunteer pageant exceeded my highest expectations. It was truly focused on making the event all about the 23 outstanding young women that competed and the 11 princesses. I am so appreciative of every person who contributed to the $25,000 in scholarships and the $10,000 package of sponsorships.
