INT. BOOK STORE - NIGHT Normally a nice, cozy book store, it's (very recently) become the site of a brutal murder. Sadder still, a small birthday party was being carried out. There's three victims. BRADEN (21, loveable goof ball) is slumped against a blood-splattered bookcase, bullet holes in his head and chest. CELESTE (21, a new age darling) had toppled over the table of gifts, a machete impaled in her torso. GERALD (49, man of knowledge who loves formal dress) has been decapitated, his head lying near his feet. There's also JANET (17, teenage girl who has yet to see the evils of our world), who is bruised, bloodied, and lying on the floor. Though seemingly dead, her eyes snap open at the last second of the scene. A shot of A JADE STATUE OF A SUN GODDESS sitting on a shelf and being taken is also seen during this scene. BLACK. Silence for a few beats.

Then-

RIVERA (O.S.) Can't believe this. KE (O.S.) What? RIVERA (O.S.) A detective going to the nuthouse for answers... KE (O.S.) Care facility. Says on the sign out front. Rivera SIGHS. RIVERA (O.S.) But you think this girl can help me out? KE (O.S.) Key word being "think." explain.

Okay, lemme

INT. CARE FACILITY HALLWAY - DAY Not a full-blown asylum, but not homely/cozy enough to convince someone it's not.

2. Standing in a hallway is KE (22, Beatrix Kiddo's hair, Lita Ford's fashion sense, and Xena's mentality) and RIVERA (30, somehow retains a laid back nature amidst crime and violence). KE Bethany grew up seein' strange visions was put here because've 'em. Eventually some guys upstairs got wind of some of her visions comin' true, and well...you get the idea. Rivera smiles as if he just figured out an inside joke. RIVERA Oh, I see. She wasn't crazy. was just seeing the future.

She

Ke shakes her head and speaks offhandedly. KE No, she's still nuts, but she happened to be psychic too. Rivera's spark of eagerness wanes. RIVERA Ah.... KE Problem is, we never know which "visions" are actual visions or just her bein' crazy. Hence why we don't exactly have her on speed dial. They still record her babblin', though. RIVERA And some of her babbling has to do with this case? KE Just talk to her and see. They walk towards a pair of double doors. KE (O.S.) (CONT'D) Bethany, this is Detective Rivera; the policeman that I told'ja about. Tell him about the vision you saw. INT. CARE FACILITY SITTING ROOM - DAY A spacious sitting area for patients to rest in. The color scheme is pleasant; no vibrant colors to excite people. Tables, chairs, and nothing sharp.

3. At a table, BETHANY (19, one part broken mind and one part eccentric prophet) is sitting with Ke and Rivera. Bethany's gazing past her visitors, her theatrical voice like that of an oracle recounting a vision playing before their eyes. BETHANY A man. Old, but not too old. Hair just turning gray. Scar under his eye. Rivera's eagerness returns. RIVERA That's the victim, alright. Ke shares Rivera's excitement, having actually helped someone. KE What else did'ja see, Bethany? Bethany closes her eyes and her brow furrows, as if trying to see a distant image in her mind. BETHANY It's dark. Not just because it's night. There's little light in the room. The man's alone. At first. Someone else came in. RIVERA Did you see this person? Ke and Rivera are practically hanging on Bethany's every word as she continues. BETHANY Only what's important. He's coughing and wheezing. Reaching into his pocket.... Rivera starts taking down notes on a SMART PHONE. RIVERA Probably for a gun or something... Bethany puts a touch more emotion with every passing sentence. BETHANY The older man turns to him and starts talking about the lateness of the hour. Then they fight. They're calling each other names; traitor, bastard, squealer, pathetic little bitch. Then there's red. From the old man.

4. RIVERA Okay, right. BETHANY And then came a giant sloth. RIVERA OkKe and Rivera notice the weird turn this had just taken. RIVERA (CONT'D) What? And here, Bethany goes into the realm of crazy ranter. BETHANY Then came a giant squirrel. And then a giant lizard. I thought the lizard was Godzilla, but then I realized that it had the head of Joan Crawford. Ke and Rivera share the same shocked/amazed emotion; eyes wide and wordless mouths dangling open. RIVERA Uh, right then. BETHANY And then they all made love. Ke rubs her eyes, not happy at the waste of time this was. KE (Quietly) Of course they did. BETHANY And it was glorious. KE (Quietly) Of course it was. (Normally) So, anything else? Maybe gotta make n' model of that...giant sloth? BETHANY Not at this moment. Ke gets up, barely covering annoyance with cordiality.

5. Right. time.

KE Okay. Thank you for your

BETHANY It's no problem. I just wish you guys would listen to me more often. I could have warned you about the giant flaming eyeball that obliterated all of humanity last week. Ke looks at Bethany, not saying a word and until she's able to find some a moment later. Yeah.

KE Too bad about that.

Ke starts to leave.

Rivera shakes Bethany's hand and smiles.

KE (CONT'D) Thanks again, Bethany. RIVERA Yes, thank you. BETHANY Agent Blazer. Ke stops and turns to Bethany, whose eyes twinkle with concern. BETHANY (CONT'D) I've been having a very bad feeling for the past few weeks. KE Is that so? BETHANY I think something bad has come to Northtown. KE Does all the time, hon. Bethany becomes worried that Ke isn't taking her concern seriously. BETHANY But this thing...it's really bad. Ke sees that Bethany is genuinely worried and smiles assuredly.

6. KE I'll keep an eye out. Bethany sighs and smiles out of relief. BETHANY Thank you. INT. CARE FACILITY ELEVATOR - DAY Ke and Rivera are riding it, the former rubbing her eyes as she tries to make her face not turn beet red. KE I still owe you a favor. Rivera smiles, but it's clear he's just as disappointed as Ke. RIVERA It's fine. KE Can you use any of that? RIVERA I'll try. I don't have any other leads. Ke's PHONE rings, she gets it out. RIVERA (CONT'D) (To self) Not that any recent orgies at the zoo come to mind. Ke answers the phone. KE Hello? EXT. CITYSCAPE - DAY Northtown. A medium-sized city in southwest Michigan that shares a boarder with the Great Lake of the same name. A gloomy, overcast sky hangs above like a mass of bad thoughts. Northtown.

KE (O.S.) A decent place.

Ke is walking through the streets amongst the droves of people going about their miserable business, working on a CHERRY SLUSHIE.

7. KE (O.S.) (CONT'D) Well, okay, decent for someone like me. Ke approaches and old, gray building; about twenty floors. KE (O.S.) (CONT'D) And for businesses like where I work at. INT. LOBBY - DAY Marble floors. Black stone walls. Art deco. Elevators sit past a SECURITY GUARD, who is currently looking at a NEWSPAPER with the headline "Giant Robot and Squid Aliens Seen in New Jersey!" Ke comes through the door and goes strait for the elevator, the guard returning a nod from Ke. KE (O.S.) Dealin' with things crawlin' under beds.... Ke waits for an elevator amongst a small crowd. KE (O.S.) (CONT'D) And usually beatin' the crap outta 'em of course. Ke boards the elevator. KE (O.S.) (CONT'D) Not that I complain... The doors close behind her. KE (O.S.) (CONT'D) Therapy and violent video games can only do so much. INT. OUTSIDE OF INTERVIEWING ROOM - DAY A bare room with a large window leading to your standard, police station-style questioning room. Ke is standing in front of SANAGO (54, a stern-as-hell military man who's seen everything). Sanago hands his agent a PHOTO of LANA BARTLEY (20, even on the lam, she still dresses fashionably). SANAGO Lana Bartley. Vanished two years ago, but intel says she's here in Northtown.

8. KE Why do I know that name? SANAGO You remember that chosen one who caused a ruckus in Indiana? Ke's eyes widen.

She does know this notorious person.

KE The one that abandoned her post? Sanago nods. SANAGO And intel says that she's in town. KE Whose intel? Sanago guides Ke to Inside are OVERSEER sleazebags in suits a table and talking

the window to the interviewing room. LUCAS and OVERSEER RANDAL (30-40's, and with auras of eloquence), sitting at with each other.

SANAGO Two handlers from the secret order she was connected to. KE And what's the name of it? SANAGO Hell if I remember, Blazer. boatloads of secret orders. KE Boatloads of chosen ones too. makes this one so special?

There's

What

Sanago's demeanor becomes heavy with sarcasm. SANAGO All of them are special, Blazer. You should know that. They have the power to protect people... Ke raises an eyebrow. SANAGO (CONT'D) Well, okay, people who aren't as(Pause) -talented as you. Ke SCOFFS.

9. KE So why bother? Sanago give her the slightest of glares, making Ke nervously recall her place in two seconds flat. KE (CONT'D) Sir. SANAGO Because they'll help us if we help them. They've got intel and resources like you wouldn't believe. Ke looks at Sanago, raised eyebrow asking for a more respectable reason. Sanago SIGHS and shakes his head. SANAGO (CONT'D) Just try not to piss them off. INT. INTERVIEWING ROOM - DAY Ke's at the table with the overseers. PHOTOS of Lana Bartley. See?

They've laid out CANDID

OVERSEER LUCAS It's her alright.

KE When were these taken? OVERSEER LUCAS A few days ago. Bit of serendipity. One of our recruiters found her while looking for perspectives in the area. KE And he didn't try t'approach her? OVERSEER RANDAL God no! With the abilities we gave this girl, that would've been foolish! Ke raises an eyebrow, knowing full well that she's a canary going into a mine. KE So you came to us to do that? Overseer Randal shrugs. OVERSEER RANDAL We thought it better if someone like you should handle this.

10. A wry smile crawls onto Ke's face. KE "Someone like me?" OVERSEER RANDAL A local who knows this town. Not to mention that if the girl saw us, she'd flee again. Ke SCOFFS, her voice a spiteful brand of sarcasm. KE Oh, and here I thought that it's 'cause I can take her down if she goes all rabid on me. The overseers smile; half-embarrassed, half-wryly. OVERSEER LUCAS Well, that was, of course, a risk we considered. INT. OUTSIDE OF INTERVIEWING ROOM - DAY Ke walks out of the interviewing room, letting her anger flare the moment the door shuts behind her. KE Slimey... Sanago's rubbing his eyes; tired, but still assertive. SANAGO I know, Blazer. KE I can see why she ran away. guys are creepy assholes!

Those

As the argument continues, Sanago becomes more agitated, but never gets to the point of full-out yelling. SANAGO Creepy assholes with things this agency can really use. KE Y'know, I don't think they even called her by her name in there! SANAGO And the sooner you find Bartley, the sooner either of us won't have to deal with them anymore.

11. Why?

KE Why should I find her?

SANAGO Again, things we could really use. Ke SIGHS, shaking her head in disbelief. SANAGO (CONT'D) Besides, you know how much've a deal chosen ones are. Ke's not impressed nor convinced. KE Uh-huh. Sure. Chosen by destiny, God, or some talkin' tree or somethin'. They fight the evil the rest of us can't. Blah blah. Sanago, patience spent, nears a yelling volume. SANAGO That's the point, Blazer. KE So? SANAGO So can you think of anyone who recently declared a vendetta against you? Maybe mentioned makin' an example outta ya? Ke thinks for only a moment. Then she freezes, as if someone jabbed a long needle into her spine. Images of BYRON (35, a demonic godfather) are seen as his voice echoes. (He's never fully seen in the story.) BYRON (O.S.) I know who you are! I saw your face! And when I find you, you're dead! You hear me?! Dead! Ke looks at Sanago, still surprised. KE You don't think this Lana chick can take him out, do ya? Sanago shrugs. SANAGO She's taken down worse people.

12. Ke thinks the situation over before closing her eyes and SIGHING. She looks at Sanago, nods (making him slightly smile), before walking down the hall. KE Slimey... Sanago sighs. SANAGO I know they are, Blazer. Ke turns to Sanago, smiling wryly despite hating herself. KE I was talkin' about me, sir. INT. JANET'S HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY A quiet hospital room. The patient- a sleeping Janet, who's in bandages and hooked up to an IV. Lana walks into the room, coffee in hand, and carefully makes her way to Janet's side. LANA Hey. Slowly, Janet awakens. scene.

The drugs make her groggy in this

JANET Oh, fell asleep again? LANA Just means you're on some good stuff. Janet nods, but slowly drifts off to sleep. smiles, nudges Janet. LANA (CONT'D) Hey! Janet wakes up. JANET Wha...? Lana LAUGHS QUIETLY. JANET (CONT'D) What'd I miss? LANA Nothing.

Lana SCOFFS,

13. Janet sits up a bit. LANA (CONT'D) So, your doctor come in yet? Janet slowly shakes her head. Despite being drugged, Janet has the capacity to show worry. Lana notices this. LANA (CONT'D) What's wrong? It takes a moment for Janet to find the courage to speak. JANET He's out there, isn't he? there, out there.

Like, out

Lana becomes saddened at this sight and hugs her cousin. LANA It'll be okay. JANET You're gonna get 'im. I know that, but... (Pause) He could just walk into this room... Janet nods off again. Lana carefully lies her cousin back. After a moment of watching Janet, she nudges the drugged girl, awakening her. JANET (CONT'D) Hmm? LANA Listen, I've gotta duck out. Janet is a little panicked, as if afraid that Lana will leave her again for a long time. JANET Do you have to? You just got here, and... Lana senses Janet's fear and smiles assuredly. LANA I'll be back. And I'll have nothing but good news. Janet's more worried. JANET But last time...

14. Lana shakes her head. LANA I'll be back this time. Janet's eyes speak of uneasy, but her smile is one of hope. JANET Promise? Lana smiles and nods. LANA Promise. EXT. HOSPITAL PARKING GARAGE - DAY Lana walks out the door and begins walking towards a bus stop area... Until she stops; an enemy has triggered Lana's sense and made her reach into her coat. The squeak of a boot on concrete coming from behind her makes Lana spin around, but she finds nothing. Then she turns forward and sees Ke, which startles the chosen. KE Lana Bartley? Lana is noticeably freaked. LANA I... KE I need'ja t'come with me. Lana makes it clear she's willing to fight Ke. LANA You a follower? Ke raises an eyebrow. KE I wasn't aware fugitives still cared about social media. Ke approaches Lana, who doesn't like the agent's intimidating aura one bit. KE (CONT'D) Look, let's just go someplace we can talk-

15. Lana pulls out a WOODEN STAKE and attacks Ke with it. Ke dodges the attack and kicks it out of her hand, noticing it's a stake. KE (CONT'D) Wrong kinda undead, honey. They fight for a while, Lana displaying great strength and speed. But the fighting pauses when Ke uses her energy/flight powers, which surprises Lana. LANA Wh-What?! Like I said.

KE Wrong kinda undead.

Lana gets ready to fight, bravery outweighing surprise. Fight scene. Winner- Ke, flying over to Lana with a blunt weapon she (Lana) dropped.... BLACK.

Immediately followed by a "THUNK!"

Lana is now handcuffed. She struggles, but can't break out. Ke is standing by her, smiling. KE (CONT'D) You comfy? Lana shoot Ke a look that would spoil fresh milk. LANA Bite me. KE Whatever. Just hope yer bosses don't bitch at me for dentin' ya. Lana's eyes go wide.

This isn't good. LANA

"My bosses?" KE Two creepy overseer assholes. They came to the agency I work for and hired me t'bring ya back. Lana freaks out. LANA What?!

16. KE Yeah, I'm kinda what'cha would call a mercenary. Basically do the crap ya do, but get insurance benefits. N-No!

LANA You can't do this!

Ke takes out her PHONE and waits for a signal to take hold. KE Really? 'Cause I'm doin' a pretty good job so far. Lana tries to break out of the mad scientifically-reinforced cuffs; no luck. Lana looks to Ke, her voice and expression half-pleading. LANA Please don't take me back. Ke doesn't listen as she still messes with her phone. Lana takes a new approach after she sees the agent is not budging. LANA (CONT'D) Do you wanna know why I came back after all this time? Ke stops dialing and turns to Lana.

She does want to know...

KE Okay, I'm prolly gonna regret this. Why're ya here? LANA I'm looking for someone. A cult leader that goes by the name "Father Phobos." Ke mulls over the name in her crazed mind. KE Sounds familiar. LANA Father Phobos. Originally a motivational speaker, but slowly went into religious leader territory. Usually panned to bored adults or rebellious kids. At one point, he started actually believing the crap he preached. Ke recalls the man and finishes Lana's story.

17. KE Some say 'cause of mystic artifacts that wacked up his mind. Others say 'cause he just plan went crazy. Okay... Images of headlines/footage of Phobos's violent activity is seen. A few echoing screams and sirens are heard. KE (CONT'D) ...now I remember 'im. Images stop. KE (CONT'D) So, why're ya after 'im? I mean, you ran away from fightin' guys like 'im, soLANA He killed my friends. Ke's train of thought screeches to a halt. She looks at Lana, waiting for Lana to say she's joking. KE Seriously? LANA Look up "brighton books murder" on your phone. Besides, does it sound like a joke? Ke SIGHS, rolls her eyes, and starts looking on her phone. KE I've heard some pretty sick ones before. Like this one with a necrophilic, a pedophile, and a dead eight yearKe finds an article. The headlines talk about how a birthday party was being held at a book store in Indiana was shot up, leaving one survivor- Janet. LANA They weren't just my friends. They were my partners from back in the day. Ke looks at the article, eventually reading about one of Phobos's followers accidentally leaving a PENDANT behind. Ke glares at Lana.

18. KE And just how do I know you're not tryin' to pull a fast one on me? LANA The survivor in the article- my cousinis in this hospital. You can ask her about it. Ke raises an eyebrow as Lana raises her metaphorical poker hand. Ke tries to decipher Lana's poker face... INT. JANET'S HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY Janet's asleep from the drugs. INT. HOSPITAL HALLWAY - DAY Ke is with Lana (who is still hand-cuffed) outside the room, glancing through the cracked-open door. Ke turns back to Lana. LANA I asked around. Father Phobos is at this place called "Club Fuego," but I can't find it. Ke sighs and nods. Okay. to...

KE I get it.

Ya came outta hidn'

Lana glares at Ke as the agent's words trail off.

Ke shrugs.

KE (CONT'D) Not that I'm not judgin'. Fuck, I'd prolly do the same thing.... (Quietly) 'Cept he'd be dead by now. Ke looks Janet, then back at the article on her phone, taking in the carnage and deciding on a new tactic. KE (CONT'D) Y'know, if memory serves, Phobos is on my agency's KOS list. Lana's confused.

Ke sees this.

KE (CONT'D) "Kill on sight." Man's a fuckin' terrorist, after all. Pretty good incentive with killing KOS targets.

19. Ke's voice tapers off again. goes with a new approach

She gathers he thoughts and

KE (CONT'D) How about this? I help you find Phobos and then you come with me? Lana only looks at her.

Ke shrugs.

KE (CONT'D) I'm just gonna track ya down again, anyway. Lana SCOFFS, making Ke go for the assertive route. KE (CONT'D) I know this town like the back of my hand. By the time you figure out where Club Fuego is, he'll be long gone. LANA And why should I trust you? KE Because anyone else'll prolly just bring ya in. Plus, like I said, incentive with KOS targets. Lana looks at Ke, as if trying to find any signs that she's a betrayer. Not to mention she's considering the offer... LANA Fine. But only if we find this guy. Ke starts un-cuffing her. KE We will. LANA Well, I've been looking for, like, two days. No luck. KE That's 'cause your informant prolly wasn't talkin' about an actual club. "Club Fuego" is actually a nickname for a hotel 'round here. Lana is stunned. She could have found this place a lot sooner had she known this.... LANA You're kidding.

20. KE I'd rather find this guy sooner than later. So, no, not kidding. INT. HOTEL LOBBY - EVENING A large, elegant hotel lobby with a warm color scheme. are going about their business in it.

People

Ke and Lana are at the front desk, a HOTEL CLERK is on the computer. HOTEL CLERK Mmmmm, sorry. Nobody under, uh, "Phobos," was it? KE Uh, might be. We're lookin' for a larger group. Prolly a guy in robes with 'em. You see anyone like that? The clerk shakes his head. HOTEL CLERK We have a thing about privacy here. KE I showed you the agency ID. HOTEL CLERK I know, and you're not a cop. KE Well, no, I work for an agency that deals with paranormal threats andHOTEL CLERK I know, but my manager says that unless we have ghosts running around or something- which we don't- I don't have to tell you guys anything. KE It's a cult leader.

Might be magical.

The clerk SIGHS. HOTEL CLERK Let me get my manager. The clerk walks off into a back room. Ke looks around after a moment, before turning invisible, much to Lana's shock and worry.

21. LANA Uh...Ke? Ke becomes visible for a moment, now standing behind the desk and going through the records. Lana is surprised. Ke holds her finger up to her mouth. KE Shhh! Ke turns invisible again. not there.

The clerk returns, noticing Ke's

HOTEL CLERK Where did your friend go? LANA I'm not... (Pause) Bathroom? HOTEL CLERK Well, anyway, I talked with my manager. We would need to speak with your boss or something first. LANA Oh. Okay. The clerk gets back to work. Lana begins walking away, until she hears Ke by the elevators. KE Lana! Lana looks over and sees Ke waving by the elevators. The once-chosen one quickly makes her way over. As they join up, SINE (28, observes high-fashion even when on the job) is watching from behind a newspaper. (Sine's ensemble includes A SMALL RAG DOLL PINNED TO AN ASCOT.) INT. HOTEL HALLWAY - EVENING Ke and Lana are sneaking down the hallway. in hushed tones.

They're speaking

KE What was I supposed t'do? LANA I'm just wondering how many powers you have.

22. Like, five. power set.

KE Your standard ghost

LANA I thought you were a zombie or something! KE I'm a revenant. Lana rolls her eyes, not caring for specifics. LANA A person who comes back from the dead. Like a zombie. KE Like one, but not one. They approach the doors to a penthouse. LANA What's the difference? KE For startersKe grabs Lana. KE (CONT'D) Zombies can't do this. Ke causes her and Lana to float and, using intangibility, takes Lana through the door. INT. PENTHOUSE - EVENING A large, fancy penthouse, featuring a sitting room, a bedroom, and a balcony. Ke and Lana enter the main room, finding nothing but a mess for the maid to clean up. Once they see it's empty, Lana frowns at Ke. LANA Warn me first, okay? Ke rolls her eyes and starts looking around. KE Just help me look. Lana does so.

23. LANA I don't think he's here. KE Look under the beds and stuff. Lana shoots Ke a disbelieving glance. LANA Under the beds? Really? KE I've found preps hidin' in weird-ass places. Sine is heard off screen. SINE (O.S.) But not here. The women turn to face Sine, who is wearing a TRENCH COAT and walking into the room. SINE (CONT'D) The good father opted for a more...spiritual setting closer to the blue line. Ke and Lana treat this woman like a threat. KE Who the hell are you? Sine, smiling peacefully, offers her hand for Lana to shake. SINE Sine DuVal. Lana is confused. bittersweet.

Looking to Lana, Sine's smile becomes

SINE (CONT'D) Oh? You haven't heard of me? LANA Can't say I have. Sine shakes her head. SINE Not surprised.... Sine whips off her COAT and tosses it towards Lana, her smile gone.

24. SINE (CONT'D) Bitch! The coat covers Lana. When she pulls it off, Sine's already leaping though the air, TWIN PISTOLS aimed at Lana. However, Ke pushes Lana to the side, allowing her to miss Sine's shots, and sends a blast in Sine's direction. Fight scene. Winner- mexican standoff. Sine has her pistol's trained on Lana, Ke's got an energy hand at Sine's head. SINE (CONT'D) Funny thing how a green sun is rising. Sine jumps out a nearby window, causing Ke and Lana to immediately run to its side. There's nothing downwards but street. LANA Who the hell was that?! KE (O.S.) Sine DuVal. Time jump. Ke and Lana are looking for clues as Ke talks on her phone with an INFORMANT. KE (CONT'D) I don't recognize her, but I'm thinkin' she's a freak-killer. be workin' for Phobos, too.

Might

INFORMANT (O.S.) Hold on, I'll run a search. Ke looks through Sine's coat and finds A DEPOSIT BOX KEY for "Pinkerton Holdings." (Unbeknownst to Ke, Lana's leaving the penthouse.) INFORMANT (O.S.) (CONT'D) Yep. She's a freak-killer. Mostly operates in Illinois with three other assassins. Last job was two years ago at... The informant GROANS. INFORMANT (O.S.) (CONT'D) Ah crap. System's gone down again. I'll call you again once it's up. KE Thanks. Ke hangs up.

25. KE (CONT'D) Lana, we might have to keep an eye out for three otherKe looks around and notices that Lana's not there. realizes Lana might have given her the slip.

She

KE (CONT'D) Shit! INT. HOTEL BAR - EVENING Lounge sort of bar.

Not much of a crowd at this hour.

Lana's at the counter. Ke approaches her, not saying anything despite clearly being peeved. KE So, found this in Sine's coat. to a bank in town.

It's

Ke shows Lana the key, who looks at it plaintively. LANA What's a freak-killer? Ke sits next to Lana, still pissed. KE Assassin that deals with powered targets that are threats to the public. They usually don't have powers themselves. LANA That's what you call those guys? KE "Meta-being assassin" doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Lana and Ke share a brief, tense silence. LANA You thought I took off, didn't you? Ke frowns. KE You disappeared outta nowhere. Lana's words are cold and sharp as a knife.

26. LANA Maybe I just wanted to do one normal thing before I go back doing the crap that made run in the first place. Ke looks at Lana in silence. Lana sighs, silent for a moment due to her not knowing where to start. LANA (CONT'D) Don't you get it? I hated this life. I hated doing this stuff while other girls my age did things I was supposed to be doing. Ke raises an eyebrow.

She doesn't get it, which Lana sees.

LANA (CONT'D) Partying with friends when I should've been working on homework? Drinking a beer without my parents knowing? Thinking about the team quarterback ravaging me during study hall? Lana sees that Ke's still a little confused by this. LANA (CONT'D) Doesn't that sound normal? Ke shrugs. KE Not really. Lana SCOFFS. LANA Not in this town, right? Ke sighs to herself, hating herself for the pawn she's become and her voice is sincere. KE Lana, look... (Pause) I know those guys are assholes. I'm sorry for bringin' you back to 'em. Lana looks towards Ke, half-pleading/half-upset. LANA So why do it? Isn't the world safe enough? Ke lets Lana's words drift in her mind for a moment.

27. KE Not enough for me... Lana looks at Ke, puzzled. LANA What do you mean? Ke looks at Lana, debating on whether or not to say what she's going to.... KE Y'ready to hate me more than you already prolly do? Lana only looks at Ke, trying to decipher her words. sighs.

Ke

KE (CONT'D) There's a fella in this town. Byron Vante. Human-turned-demon or whatever. Basically a crime boss. Everybody's scared of him. Ke works the anticipation in the air for a few good, silent seconds. KE (CONT'D) He wants me dead. LANA Why? KE Ruined a deal of his and got 'im pissed. Then pissed 'im off more by takin' out every assassin he sent my way. Lana's a little demanding. LANA Why are you worried? I mean, you just said you're doing good at taking out whoever he sends. KE So far.... Ke's eyes cloud, the thought of another demise not being a pleasant one. KE (CONT'D) It's only a matter of time and him sendin' the right killer.

28. Lana's none too happy with Ke's confession. LANA So that's why you're doing this? So I can kill him before he kills you? Ke shrugs and has the expression of someone awaiting a slap on the hands. KE And make the world a little more safer. Lana SCOFFS, her voice sarcastic at best. LANA Really good reason, Ke. Ke goes for the defensive, mostly to convince herself. KE I don't wanna die, okay? I hate doing this, but I don't... Lana and Ke share a silence, their stares dueling. KE (CONT'D) Now how about we get to this bank and find the bastard who killed your friends? Least I do is help ya there. Lana stares in silence, before closing her eyes and nods her head. LANA Fine... INT. PINKERTON HOLDINGS - EVENING A older, opulent bank. Ke and Lana are in line. Lana eyes a marble statue that's in the lobby. Some flashbacks are triggered of the statue back in Gerald's shop. LANA A green sun.... Ke looks at Lana. LANA (CONT'D) What that Sine woman said. I just remembered that Gerald had a jade statue of some sun goddess in his collection.

29. KE Gerald? LANA My mentor. Lana's voice becomes burdened with sadness. LANA (CONT'D) He was the one the birthday party was for... Ke's expression reflects sympathy. KE I see. And was this statue taken? LANA Maybe. I'd have to check. He did say it might have had some power, though. INT. DEPOSIT BOX AREA - EVENING Ke and Lana approach the box.

Lana checks the key.

LANA Yeah, here it is. Ke puts the key in, but nudges Lana to stand to the side of the deposit box door as Ke does the same. Lana gives her a look that asks why she must do this. KE It could be booby-trapped. Lana rolls her eyes and Ke laughs a bit. KE (CONT'D) Heh.

Booby.

Lana isn't amused. LANA Really? What?

KE I'm not saying it's hilarious-

LANA No, that it's booby-trapped. Ke laughs a bit again.

30. LANA (CONT'D) Just open it! Ke frowns. KE Fine. Ke opens the box, darting to the side after she does so. Nothing happens. Ke looks at Lana. Well?

KE (CONT'D) Look in it.

LANA But you said it could have a trap. Ke smiles innocently. Lana SCOFFS and looks into the deposit box. Her eyebrow raises as she pulls out A DAMAGED POSTCARD for a place called Aberdine, Illinois. LANA (CONT'D) A postcard... Ke looks at it. LANA (CONT'D) For someplace called Aberdine, Illinois. KE Is there anything else in there? Lana checks. LANA No... Lana looks at the number written on it. LANA (CONT'D) "1000000000000066600000000000001." Ke's silent for a moment. KE What was after that sixth zero? INT. PINKERTON HOLDINGS - EVENING Back in the lobby.

Lana is googling the number on her phone.

31. LANA Apparently it's called "Belphegor's Prime." Some kind've math term. Ick. Hated math. Ke raises an eyebrow. KE Considerin' Belphegor's a demon, that can't be good. LANA A demon? KE Commonly associated with the sin of sloth. This troubles Lana, but Ke doesn't notice. KE (CONT'D) (Sarcastic) Oooh, original. A scheme centerin' around the seven deadly sins. (Normal) Least it's not the four elements. What about this Aberdine place? Lana shakes off her worry and googles the name. What she finds surprises her. LANA Oh. Wow. It says here that a huge gas-main explosion took out the whole town. Ke looks at the article, which features a picture of some EMTs on it. KE Yeesh. Anything else about it? LANA Not that I can see. EXT. PINKERTON HOLDINGS - EVENING The women leave the building. Ke seems a little troubled. KE It's funny Sine did that though. LANA Did what?

32. KE I dunno. It just seems she left a lotta clues forAs they near a corner, Ke is pulled into the alley by one of THREE PHOBOS FOLLOWERS. EXT. ALLEY - EVENING A brief fight ensues. Result- two fleeing by car and a third running into a crowd, taking A CYANIDE PILL as he does so (much to Ke's shock). KE Oh fuck. EXT. PINKERTON HOLDINGS - EVENING Ke runs after the man, losing him in the crowd. KE Stop that man! Ke and Lana look for the man, still having a hard time doing so due to the people.... A woman screams out. Some people react in shock and back away from something. Ke and Lana make their way over to see that the cult member is lying on the ground; dead. Cut to a coroner driving away as Ke is on her cell phone. Though not completely heard, Sanago is chewing her out. KE (CONT'D) I tried to stop 'im, sir...There were too many people...Yeah...Yeah, I....I know...I know, paperwork...I know, lots of it. Lana is sitting on a curb. Ke joins her and SIGHS. looks at Ke from the corner of her eye.

Lana

KE (CONT'D) So, your bosses ever bust your ass over the phone? Lana throws her hands up in the air, giving up on the world. As she rants, Ke looks at the article on Lana's phone again, noticing an EMT that makes her eyes go wide. LANA Well, we're officially out of clues. (MORE)

33. LANA (CONT'D) I've never heard of this Aberdine place and I don't remember Gerald or the others mentioning it! But no! It's important! Not that I know why, but-! KE Hold on a sec. Ke looks at the picture more in silence for a few moments. KE (CONT'D) Sonuva bitch. LANA What? KE I think there's more to this Aberdine thing. See that paramedic there? Lana looks at the article. LANA What about him? KE He's not an paramedic. LANA And how do you know that? KE 'Cause I know 'im. His name's Higgs. Met 'im a few times on the job. He's retired now. LANA He was an agent, too? KE No, that's just it. He worked for a firm that does cover-up jobs. Lana raises an eyebrow. LANA "Cover-up jobs?" KE Y'know, hide the spaceship and say it's a weather balloon. (MORE)

34. KE (CONT'D) Capture bigfoot and say is was a gorilla that escaped from the zoo. That sorta thing. LANA I thought agencies didn't cover stuff up anymore. KE The little stuff, no. But the big, shit-that's-gotten-very-real stuff... LANA We need to talk to him then. KE Let's do it. Ke and Lana walk down the street, Lana looking at the postcard. Something is swirling in her mind- guilt. LANA Ke... Ke looks at Lana. LANA (CONT'D) Yeah? Lana debates on talking...and decides against it. LANA (CONT'D) Nothing. Ke raises an eyebrow. KE Uh, you sure? LANA Yes. As they walk, Ke eyes Lana, a little suspicious. EXT. BACK ALLEY - EVENING Empty alleyway.

Nothing except garbage and vermin.

The car with the two cultists pull up into the alleyway. They get out and look around. CULTIST 1 Do you see her?

35. Sine is heard off screen. SINE (O.S.) Calm down. They look up and see Sine standing on a fire escape. SINE (CONT'D) I'm right here. The cultists are none too happy with Sine. CULTIST 1 Our contact at the hotel told us what happened. That coupled with you leading those two to the box isn't going to sit well with the Father. Sine shrugs, not taking the cultist's warning to heart. SINE Looks like the good father's gonna have to use the post office like everyone else. Sine idly stands by, immune to the chewing-out she's receiving. CULTIST 2 Then maybe you should've taken your postcard there instead! CULTIST 1 Postcard? CULTIST 2 Yeah, to someplace called Aberdine. Just had some number written on it. The name is familiar to the first cultist. Aberdine?

CULTIST 1 Illinois?

Uh, yeah.

CULTIST 2 Why?

CULTIST 1 That's where we... The cultist realizes something and looks at Sine in shock. Faint, echoing screams (including Sine's) fade in for some moments.

36. CULTIST 1 (CONT'D) Oh my god... Sine smiles. CULTIST 1 (CONT'D) I thought I recognized ySine shoots the cultist in the head, sending him flying onto the ground. The other cultist tries to get a gun, only to be shot in the hand and then in the head. Sine surveys the damaged she caused before leaving. INT. PIZZERIA - EVENING Mom and pop place. Ke and Lana walk into the pizza joint. After a moment, she spots HIGGS (50, an approachable firecracker) eating at a table and walks over to him, Lana in tow. KE Hey ya, Higgs. Higgs looks up and smiles wryly. HIGGS Well, lookit what the wind blew in. Higgs notices Lana. HIGGS (CONT'D) Oh, agent-in-training? KE No.

Client.

Ke shrugs. KE (CONT'D) Sorta. Listen, I was wonderin' if I can ask ya 'bout some stuff from the old days. Higgs shakes his head, licking sauce off his fingers. HIGGS My job was all about keeping secrets. I still honor that. Ke takes Lana's phone and shows him his EMT picture. KE What about stayin' outta the papers? Higgs looks at the picture in slight worry.

37. HIGGS Ohhh.... KE Would be a pity if your old boss found out about this. HIGGS You wouldn'tReality quickly sinking in, Higgs SCOFFS. HIGGS (CONT'D) Oh who am I kiddin'? You would for twenty bucks. KE Or information to help me out. Ke smiles innocently. SIGHS.

Higgs looks at Ke in silence then

INT. BROOM CLOSET - EVENING The three are in a broom closet. KE Does Aberdine, Illinois ring any bells? The name has a grim spot in Higgs's memories. HIGGS Aberdine, Illinois. Yeah, it does. Pretty sour notes, though. KE Well? HIGGS Again, please don't blab about this on twitbook or whatever people use these days. Ke SIGHS, tired and wanting some answers. KE Higgs. LANA The article we found said that a gas main explosion took out Aberdine. Higgs SCOFFS.

38. As if.

HIGGS We did that.

Lana and Ke are surprised by this. LANA You blew up a whole town? HIGGS Just enough to make it believable and to cover up what really happened. KE And what really happened? Higgs looks around once more to see if there's a prying eye or fly on the wall. Once he's satisfied, his voice becomes dead serious; almost somber. HIGGS The town- as in, the whole town- was killed off. As Higgs continues, Ke and Lana become more and more shocked by the revelation. HIGGS (CONT'D) All in a single day. Every single man, woman, child, and pet. Hunted down and cut down. Higgs notices the shock on the women's faces. HIGGS (CONT'D) Yeah, I couldn't believe it, either. We covered it up so there wouldn't be a panic over the fact that the guy who did that wasn't caught. KE Fuck! Who the hell pulled off somethin' like that?! HIGGS Cult leader and his groupies. Ke and Lana are surprised by this. HIGGS (CONT'D) Blanking on the real name, but goes byLANA "Father Phobos."

39. HIGGS You've heard've him? KE Well, this job kinda has to do with 'im. Higgs is surprised.

The bad kind.

HIGGS He's in town? LANA Came here a few weeks ago. Higgs's expression becomes grim/nervous. HIGGS I see... LANA Why'd he kill off that town? Higgs tries to seem calm, but he's clearly anxious. HIGGS We knew it had something t'do with this prophecy of his. Somethin' 'bout-a new world order with him on top. KE Does it have to do with the seven deadly sins? HIGGS Don't know, but wouldn't be surprised. That shit's popular. Higgs runs a shaking hand through his hair. HIGGS (CONT'D) I do know that alotta mystics and psychics started gettin' twitchy 'round the time you said this asshole blew into town. Memories of Bethany's concerns come to Ke's mind. KE Yeah, I might've heard 'bout that this morning.

40. EXT. PIZZERIA - EVENING Ke and Lana leave the PIZZERIA and start walking down the street. KE Okay. New theory. Phobos stole the statue to help out with this prophecy of his. Now he's in Northtown to kick it up a notch or somethin'. Ke notices that Lana's troubled again. KE (CONT'D) Lana? Ke stops Lana when she doesn't answer. KE (CONT'D) You've got that look again. wrong?

What's

Lana again debates on whether or not to talk about what's on her mind... LANA The article said that this Aberdine thing happened two years ago in July. KE So? LANA So I quit this job a few months before that. Ke's not getting it. Lana knows she going to have to tell the whole story and she's not happy about it. She TAKES A DEEP BREATH, gathers her thoughts, then speaks. LANA (CONT'D) Before I left, I was given a target... Lana gets ready to drop the other shoe... LANA (CONT'D) Father Phobos. It adds up in Ke's head. speaks.

Ke proceeds with caution as she

KE Okay, I see. You're sayin' you were sent to kill Phobos two months before the Aberdine thing happened.

41. LANA And because I didn't, it happened. And that number demon has to do with the sin of sloth.... They share a silence.

Ke starts taking out her phone.

LANA (CONT'D) Does Phobos killing my friends have to with that town? KE I dunno. Let's find the bastard and ask 'im ourselves. Just need t'make a call. EXT. ROOFTOP - EVENING Nearby rooftop. Sine is watching Lana. She aims a her pistol at the once-chosen one. Her finger shaking by the trigger... But she lowers her gun, her expression bitter and eyes closed as she chastises herself. SINE (To self) No...Not yet. After a moment, Byron's echoing voice is heard as all around her goes black. BYRON (O.S.) Just remember...So long as you do as I ask...and keep me close to your heart...you will get what you want. Sine's eyes open, the darkness fades. SINE (To self) Not yet... EXT. CHURCH - NIGHT A seemingly abandoned church in the middle of a desolate patch of neighborhood. Not too many people out on the streets.... Ke and Lana are looking at the church from around a corner. LANA So this is the right place? Ke sees a few followers walk into the church.

42. KE Unless the local homeless people are into cultist chic. They sneak in. INT. CHURCH - NIGHT An old church dressed up to accommodate squatters. Ke and Lana sneak around the halls a bit, knocking out/handcuffing guards. Eventually, they get to a pair of double doors... The double doors fly open by themselves. INT. CHAPEL - NIGHT When the doors fly open the dozens of followers in the room point guns at the women. The room itself is spacious and filled with tons of lit candles. FATHER PHOBOS (O.S.) Wait... The followers stop in their tracks. FATHER PHOBOS (CONT'D) Let me. Speechless, the followers stand aside and take their seats, revealing FATHER PHOBOS (60, a cross between Charlie Manson and the cover of the Beetles's Yellow Submarine) at the altar, which has THE JADE STATUE on it. His hands are in prayer and he doesn't face the two women just yet. FATHER PHOBOS (CONT'D) You poor souls. So blind. It's almost ironic that you don't know Father Phobos sees all in his home. Phobos turns to them. FATHER PHOBOS (CONT'D) And soon, all over this world... Phobos notices Lana. FATHER PHOBOS (CONT'D) Lana Bartley, I thought I might be hearing from you... Phobos notices Ke.

43. FATHER PHOBOS (CONT'D) The other girl is unknown to me, though. Ke SCOFFS.

Lana's voice is dripping with venom. LANA Yeah, killing my friends would warrant such a visit. FATHER PHOBOS You speak of the shop keep at the bookstore and the other unfortunate bystanders. KE Don't forget the town you up and slaughtered.

Father Phobos turns away, going into sermon mode. FATHER PHOBOS Decades ago, when I was a weaker, superficial man, I would have likely been horrified at these actions. Mind you, this was before my vision of a world without war, sickness, and other blights. Ke blasts him, seemingly reducing him to nothingness. Lana looks at Ke, but the latter shrugs in a way saying "What?" Phobos is still alive, now walking up the side of the wall. The women face him, surprised by this. FATHER PHOBOS (CONT'D) As horrid as it may be, the ends justify the means, and their sacrifice shall not be in vain. LANA Sacrifice? Is that what you call brutally murdering my friends?! FATHER PHOBOS I did not say the path to this world's salvation wasn't covered in blood. We're not even to the end of it yet. Ke flies towards Phobos, who holds out a hand and holds back Ke and her energy. Meanwhile, Lana jumps at him, sending him (and herself) out the window with a leaping kick. Ke darts after them. The fight has begun...

44. The followers go to the window, as to watch the fight. Unbeknownst to them, Sine is approaching them from behind, cocking a pistol... EXT. CHURCH GARDEN - NIGHT Small, barely-kept garden on a rooftop. Fight scene takes place. Winner is Ke and Lana, when Lana inadvertently impales Phobos on her AX. The two women approach the so-called holy man as he sputters for breath and coughs blood. FATHER PHOBOS Th...The world...It's....bleeding.... Phobos seemingly gives his last breath and dies. Ke goes to check his pulse, taking a moment to do so before speaking. KE Good riddance. Lana turns to the church, only to be shocked. KE (CONT'D) One less psycho to panic about. LANA Ke... KE What? Ke looks to where Lana is and becomes shocked as well. All the windows of the church are splattered with blood from the inside. INT. CHAPEL - NIGHT Ke and Lana rush to the chapel. Most of the followers are dead, save for A SINGLE ONE running in their direction. But he is shot from behind and falls forward, revealing a smiling Sine as the one who shot him. Ke and Lana are still shocked at the developments that had just taken place. KE You just killed your comrades... Sine eyes the jade statue at the altar. it.

She aims her gun at

45. SINE And got rid of that tacky statue of theirs. She shoots it into oblivion. Ke and Lana are just more confused; except Ke's more pissed about it. KE Okay, what the hell's goin' on?! Sine aims her pistols at Ke and Lana. SINE I'm ending this, that's what. Ke and Lana get ready to fight. KE Bitch, where the hell you've been?! It's fuckin' over! Phobos is dead! He's not gonna rule the world! Sine's tone is wry. SINE And why should I have thought that he was going to? KE He had this big ass prophecy that said he'd take over the world! Sine's voice is equal parts hateful and sarcastic. SINE You don't say! It's like all the other hundreds of prophecies he's made that never came true! Why, you'd almost think he was just being a crazy person or something! Ke and Lana get what Sine's saying after a moment. KE The prophecy's a dud... SINE You'd have better luck with newspaper horoscopes. LANA Then why work for him?

46. SINE I wasn't. I'd rather die. Even giving him information about a group that had the statue he was looking for made me sick. Lana's attention is grabbed, shocking her. SINE (CONT'D) He made such a mess from what I heard. And on the owner's birthday! LANA The owner's...? Images of Lana's friends, dead and alive, are seen. LANA (CONT'D) N-No...you mean...? More images. Gerald.

LANA (CONT'D) Celeste. Braden.

Sine smiles and nods.

Lana's pissed.

LANA (CONT'D) You're the reason Phobos killed them! Sine's smile and voice is mocking. SINE Oh Lana! Give yourself some credit! After all, it's not like you were there to protect them. Lana runs for Sine. KE Lana! Lana and Sine fight, the battle being taken to a higher area. Ke follows them, only to be pursed by Sine. At one point, Sine shoots Ke, seemingly sending her plummeting to her death. (Sine SIGHS in sadness, clearly not liking killing Ke.) Lana reappears and briefly fights Sine, eventually having the assassin disarmed, lying on the ground, and with Lana's SWORD at her throat. LANA He slaughtered them all!

47. Sine's not scared, so much as she is defiant and mocking. SINE As I intended him to! Lana's outraged and shocked. LANA You wanted him to kill my friends?! SINE Well, I wasn't in it for the money! Lana stabs the sword between Sine's eyes, sending the assassin to the ground as a corpse. Lana looks at Sine, hatred burning in her eyes. LANA They didn't deserve that... Lana walks away. LANA (CONT'D) None of it. To Lana's surprise, Sine is heard behind her. SINE (O.S.) But you deserve this Lana. Lana turns and finds Sine pulling the sword out of her head, not affected at all. The wound heals in a matter of seconds. SINE (CONT'D) All of this. Every single tear and spark of rage. Though shocked, Lana takes out her OTHER SWORD and runs towards Sine. Translucent strings appear around Sine's hand. Sine holds her hand out and the strings launch out, binding Lana. Sine reclaims her pistols and nears the struggling Lana, who looks to the assassin in fear and confusion. LANA What the hell are you? Sine shrugs. SINE I'm just a freak-killer. No one special, really. Not like you. LANA I thought you guys didn't have powers!

48. Sine rolls her eyes. SINE Okay, fine. I used to be a freakkiller. A foul thought enters Sine's mind, adding some venom to her voice. SINE (CONT'D) Before you left us to die. LANA "Us?" SINE Aberdine, of course. Suddenly, a huge part of Lana's puzzle fits together. LANA You're from...? SINE No, but I was there that day. Protecting it from a group of maniacs when a certain someone else wouldn't. Sine's eyes and voice cloud over in melancholy as a sad memory enters her mind. SINE (CONT'D) No, it wasn't just me. (Pause) There were three others. My friends... Sine looks back at Lana, a little anger returning to the assassin. SINE (CONT'D) Not like you'd know their names, either. Flashbacks begin. EXT. ABERDINE STREETS - DAY Your average rural town. Nice and calm. Sine and her THREE COMRADES are seen speaking with a group of VILLAGE OFFICIALS in a town square. SINE (O.S.) Without you to protect them, Aberdine had to settle for the best they could find in such short notice. (MORE)

49. SINE (O.S.) (CONT'D) (Pause) Us. (Pause) And you can guess how that turned out. Suddenly, it's all violent deaths and panic as Phobos and his crew slaughter the townspeople. There's only people screaming, cries for help, and sound effects in the scenes that follow. The four freak-killers are trying to fight off Phobos and the cult, but the battle isn't going too well... In the midst of the chaos, Sine comes across A WOMAN who's been impaled by a pole, her scared LITTLE DAUGHTER nearby. The woman begs Sine to take her daughter and run. Sine picks up the child and runs for cover. As she runs, the mother is gunned down. Sine runs through the carnage. She sees civilians cut down by Phobos's groupies as she runs. What gets to Sine the most are her friends being brutally murdered. INT. BACK ROOM - DAY Some back storage room in some shop. All is still and the lights are off, but the sounds of violence still echo outside. Sine and the child are sitting against a wall, the child holding onto Sine for all she's worth. Sine notices A LITTLE DOLL the child has; the very one Sine currently wears around her neck. The door opens and gunshots ring, hitting Sine and the child. In the end, Sine is lying wounded and the child is dead. A shadow falls over Sine. It's Phobos, creepy as ever. Sine is fearful, to say the least. SINE No...pleaBLACK.

Sine's scream echoes.

Then all is quiet.

SINE (O.S.) (CONT'D) Then...they just left. INT. ABERDINE STREETS - EVENING Shots of the bloodied landscape of corpses that was once a town is seen. A grim stillness hangs in the air. INT. BACK ROOM - EVENING We come to Sine; arms and legs ripped off, an eye plucked out, teeth missing, and cut up like a butcher's cutting block.

50. SINE (O.S.) I couldn't even crawl or cry out. Just lie there and wait for death... A shadow falls over her.

It's Byron.

SINE (O.S.) (CONT'D) But someone else came instead. Byron picks up THE CHILD'S DOLL and inspects it as he speaks to Sine. (He's not heard.) SINE (O.S.) (CONT'D) He told me I could get my revenge against the ones responsible. Phobos, his sect... INT. CHAPEL - NIGHT Back to present.

Sine's pissed off.

SINE And you. The one who let it all happen. All I had to do was watch and wait for the perfect time to act. Lana is horrified at what she had just learned. her a few attempts to speak.

It takes

LANA So that's why you...? Sine's tone has a hint of spiteful mocking. SINE Yes, Lana. That's why I ruined your little party streak. LANA Why not just go after me?! my friends into this?!

Why bring

Sine is rubbing her words in Lana's face, but it's clear she's still in pain over losing her friends. SINE You mean besides the fact I made you feel the exact same pain I did? Or the fact that I got you to kill Phobos for me? Or the fact that I proved that you could have killed him in the first place and prevent either of our friends from dying?!

51. Lana is speechless. Sine takes this time to gather her emotions, sharpening her words to a cool edge. SINE (CONT'D) It wasn't just death, Lana. There was suffering too. And I certainly didn't want you to miss out on that. Lana's trying to think of this situation in some way where she's not guilty. No such luck. Her voice is crisp and trying to be calm. LANA Okay. I screwed up. I admit it. Lana gradually goes from film to ranting as she speaks. LANA (CONT'D) But you have to understand, I had a reason for leaving my position. Do you know what it's like to live a life you don't want? One you're stuck with until you die? I couldn't take it anymore! I couldn't! I just wanted aSine gets in Lana's shocked face and puts a pistol under the chosen one's chin. SINE A normal life, right? Sine grinds the words into Lana's ego, not skipping on the venom as she gets angrier with every sentence. SINE (CONT'D) Drinking until you vomit, partying until you collapse, and fucking until you have every STD under the sun?! Sine regains her composure, but her voice is crisp with spite. SINE (CONT'D) An entire town weeps for you, I'm sure. Lana is shocked. Sine shows a little regret as some of Lana's words sink in, but her tone is still dry. SINE (CONT'D) I can understand being forced to do something you don't want to. Believe me.... Revenge is back on Sine's brain, as is mocking spite.

52. SINE (CONT'D) But now you suffered through every single thing I have. (Pause) How did that make you feel? Lana struggles to find a proper response, settling on one after a few moments. LANA If I could change the past, I would. SINE Well you can't. So let's settle for the next best thing. Sine's about to shot when she hears a boot squeaking to the side. She turns to see Ke flying towards her. KE Hi. Ke tackles Sine to the ground. The two tangle until they end up standing and preparing to attack each other. Sine's unpleasantly surprised. SINE You...! I....! KE Took more than a bullet to put me down last time. SINE You're going to save this bitch? Do you know what happened because of her?! Ke become solemn, and even a little angry. KE Heard the whole thing. Includin' the part where three innocent people died 'cause've you. SINE But Lana-! KE Lana will be dealt with later. now, its just you and me, hon. Sine, after an angry moment, smiles wryly.

For

53. SINE Might as well get this over with. Fight scene between Ke and Sine. For the first part, Sine just uses pistols and strings. Eventually, Sine's gloves and boots are ripped apart, revealing skinless arms and legs that appear to have fiery blood running through the veins. (During this part, Byron's echoing comments are heard.) As this is happening, Phobos is seen to be still alive and approaching Lana. Eventually, Ke blasts the DOLL Sine wears around her neck, which bursts into flames. The act weakens Sine, causing her arms and legs to turn into charred rock. The hands vanish. BYRON (O.S.) Such a waste. Sine falls to the ground, the strings slowly fading. only looks at Sine for a moment before hearing Lana struggling.

Ke

Ke turns to see Lana, still bound, at the alter, Phobos standing above her and ready to plunge a knife into her. begins flying over.

Ke

KE No! Suddenly, a huge pillar of strings swoops past Ke and impales Phobos against the altar's far wall, blowing out the room's many candles in the process. Phobos bleeds like crazy, shudders, and dies. The strings fade, letting Phobos slump to the floor. Ke turns to Sine, who is barely holding onto life. SINE I really...really...hate that guy. The strings that bound Lana are gone. She runs up to join Ke and Sine. They only look at Sine as her life is slipping away. Even as she's dying, Sine smiles wryly. SINE (CONT'D) Hey...agent....aren't you gonna arrest me? Ke is a little uneasy. KE Uh...well.... Sine sighs.

54. SINE Oh...right....My guardian angel pulled the plug... Sine scoffs. SINE (CONT'D) "Angel." Yeah, right. An angel wouldn't ask me to kill you. Lana raises an eyebrow. LANA But I thought you wanted to kill me because... Sine slowly shakes her head, the task a painful one. SINE No. Not you, Lana. Agent Blazer. Ke is shocked. KE What? SINE He wasn't in it for sake of helping me. He wanted a favor when the time was right. KE And he wanted you to kill me? Sine musters a faint nod. SINE He's a crime boss. He said you ruined a deal of his. Humiliated him... (To self) Of all the rotten... Ke realizes who empowered Sine. seen.

Some images of Byron are

KE So that's who helped you... SINE But I failed. Now he's letting me go... Sine smiles sadly.

55. SINE (CONT'D) But...I honestly didn't have much to live for except this...At least Phobos is finally... Sine looks at Lana, hating herself as her crimes catch up with her. SINE (CONT'D) If it's any consolation...and I know it's not...I hated myself for what I did to your friends...I... Sine shudders in pain. and eyes.

Blood begins coming from her mouth

SINE (CONT'D) I hate this...I hate having it be like this...I hate what I... Sine looks up to Lana, eyes and voice pleading. SINE (CONT'D) Listen...you don't owe me anything...But please...become a chosen again...Something like Aberdine should never happen again...Something like this should never happen again. Lana is speechless for a moment. Then she SIGHS and slowly nods. A slight, assuring smile slowly appears on Lana's face. LANA For Aberdine. For your friends. Sine smiles calmly. SINE Thank you. Sine exhales her last breath as Byron's magic drains away. Sine becomes the mutilated corpse she was on that day two years ago. All is still as Sine's body... INT. JANET'S HOSPITAL ROOM - NIGHT Janet's watching the news covering the incident at Phobos's church. (No mention of Ke or Lana.) Lana and Ke walk in. Janet's expression brightens once she sees Lana. JANET Lana! Lana smiles.

A groggy Janet points to the TV.

56. JANET (CONT'D) Is he...?! Lana smiles and nods.

Janet sighs, about to cry from joy.

JANET (CONT'D) It's over.... Janet notices Ke. JANET (CONT'D) Oh, hi. Janet drifts off to sleep. LANA Those drugs. How about we step out for a bit? I'm kinda hungry. INT. CAFE - NIGHT The women are looking over the food offered in a large glass case. Sandwiches, chips, pop.... LANA So how does this work? Ke looks at Lana, puzzled. LANA (CONT'D) Do you take me to your boss or...? Ke catches on. Ah, for But you

KE well, my bosses set up a place you to sleep at if ya need one. I called 'em and mentioned how could use a break after...yeah.

Lana smiles wryly and scoffs. LANA I'll need some rest if I'm gonna go after Mr. Vante. Surprised, Ke looks at Lana, who shrugs. LANA (CONT'D) He was the one who gave Sine her powers. I suppose the logical choice would be to go after him next. KE You sure?

57. Lana smiles and nods.

Ke smiles in relief. KE (CONT'D)

Thanks. Lana turns back to the food. LANA You know, I'm curious. What exactly did you do to piss Vante off? I know you ruined a deal of his, but... Ke SCOFFS. KE I saved a teenage girl he was after. He was gonna sell her into slavery and I... Ke shrugs. KE (CONT'D) Yeah. Lana's eyes glaze over in disappointment as she ponders that information. LANA I see... KE You okay? Lana nods. LANA Yeah. I just realized that I didn't ask if Janet wanted anything. KE Or if she could. Nurses can be pretty strict about that sorta thing. LANA Would you mind...? Ke starts leaving. KE No, I'll be right back. Time skip.

Ke walks back into the area.

58. KE (CONT'D) Okay, Janet's actually comin' out here to sit, soKe sees that Lana's not in the cafe anymore. KE (CONT'D) Lana? Ke goes over to a CLERK at the counter. KE (CONT'D) Hey, you see where the girl that was with me went? Walked off. you this.

CLERK But she told me to give

The clerk hands Ke a NOTE. she does do.

Ke read it, her eyes widening as

Note- "I'm sorry. It was bad enough dealing with stuff like monsters. I can't deal with this too. I hope you understand." KE No... Ke rushes out the cafe. KE (CONT'D) You didn't! INT. TAXI - NIGHT Lana is in a taxi, looking out the window in dismay. INT. HOSPITAL ENTRANCE - NIGHT Ke is on the phone, angry and miserable. She hangs up, having been chewed out by her boss. Janet is heard off screen. JANET (O.S.) Agent Blazer? Ke looks over to see Janet wheeling over in a wheelchair. Ke partially veils her bitter expression with false calm. JANET (CONT'D) Where's Lana? I thought you said she'd be in the cafe. KE She's gone.

59. Janet is noticeably shocked/upset at this. JANET What?

Gone? KE

She left. Janet's more upset by this.

Lana said she would stay...

JANET But she said she'd... Ke, hating herself for making the girl upset, goes to Janet's side, eyes kind and voice assuring. KE Janet, listen. You're not from around here, but... Ke takes a moment to choose her next words wisely. KE (CONT'D) There's this fella named Byron Vante. INT. CAFE - NIGHT Ke and Janet are at a table. JANET So Lana ran because he might go after her? KE It's why he's after me. He would've done the same to her if she stuck around. Hell, he might've gone after you if Lana didn't... Ke's voice trails off.

Ke summons a convincing smile.

KE (CONT'D) But she told me to tell ya that she'll be watchin' over ya. Even if you can't tell. Janet's about to cry, but smiles happily. JANET I... She SNIFFS and wipes her eyes. the girl believed her.

Ke smiles out of relief that

60. Time jump. Janet is watching the news on the cafe's TV set. Ke is at a trash can, Lana's note in hand and a bitter look on her face. KE (V.O.) You're a complete bitch, Lana. Even that label's too good for ya... Ke crumples the note and puts it in the deepest part of the trash can. KE (V.O.) (CONT'D) But thanks to me, this poor girl'll think you're a saint. Ke glances at Janet, who is still watching TV. KE (V.O.) (CONT'D) She'll think give you give a rat's ass 'bout her. That you aren't too busy partyin' to check up on her. Hell, you're her goddamn hero. Ke rubs her eyes. KE (V.O.) (CONT'D) And let's not get started on your promise to Sine. What was it ya said? "For Aberdine? For her friends?" Come the next kegger, you'll forget about all've 'em. Ke shakes her head. KE (V.O.) (CONT'D) And me? Well, with a certain devil man not bein' killed by ya, I might not live to hate you for as long. Ke goes to join Janet. KE (V.O.) (CONT'D) But you know what? Go on. Run away. I hope you never come back. This city ain't for your kind. We're just fine, thank you. End Credits. POSSIBLE POST-CREDIT'S SCENE INT. DINER - NIGHT Late night diner. Sparse crowd features your average cab drivers, cops, and the like.

61. Rivera is at the counter, looking over his notes from Bethany in despair as his coffee gets cold. Meanwhile, the KILLER in his case walks in and goes up to the counter. A DINER GUY behind the counter calls out to the killer, smiling wryly as he glances over. DINER GUY That my little jailbird? The killer returns the same wry smile. KILLER Yeah. The diner guy brings the killer a cup of coffee, taking note of his signs of fatigue. DINER GUY Jesus, you look terrible, kid. KILLER Those costumes, man. You won't believe the order I had last weeksloth costumeRivera's attention is piqued. KILLER (CONT'D) -Squirrel costume, lizard costume. Oh, and this mask of....Who's Mommie Dearest? The killer starts WHEEZING/COUGHING and going through his pocket. DINER GUY Who? KILLER Mommie Dearest. DINER GUY Uh, Joan Crawford. KILLER That's her. The killer finds what he's looking for- an inhaler- and uses it. Rivera realizes who this is and approaches him. RIVERA Hey. The killer turns to Rivera, who flashes his badge and smiles.

62. RIVERA (CONT'D) Can we have a quick talk? The killer is shocked and speechless. THE END
