Peace after serious dispute • The Vlei-gate saga continues •
Whilst the steam is buildig up in Tzaneen’s own “Vleigate” saga regarding developments in alleged wetlands, Tuesday saw a flair-up of anger at the new Lyfestyle Center on the R71. Two of our area’s most prominent businessbusiness men, Messrs Manny de Gouveia and Flip van Rooyen, got involved in a flare up over a fence and the border between their properproper ties. When Van Rooyen refused to budge, De Gouveia called the police, laid a formal charge against Van Rooyen (Case No CAS 255/7/2911 at the Tzaneen Police) and Van Rooyen was taken away by the po-
lice. They later took a statement from Van RooyRooy en. But on Wednesday the parties met with their legal teams, engineers and a director of Resilient, the developer of the new mall. Later on Wednesday both De Gouveia and Van Rooyen told the Bulletin that they were happy with the way the meeting had gone and they were hopeful that the matters causing misunderstanding, frustration and disdis contentment could be sorted amicably. Things started getting out of hand when a wall caved in, taking part of De Gouveia’s garden down a seven meter slope. On page 7 we show some “action” photo’s of the tête à tête.
