Green light for Traffic lights Resilient, the developers of the new Lifestyle Mall next to the R71, will soon be spending at least R3 milion on rebuilding the road and installing traffic lights.
Three sets of traffic lights should make a huge difference to traffic flow on the R71 into Tzaneen. It will also force motorists to reduce speed when approaching the fourway entrance into the town. Apart from the traffic lights, the road between die entrance to the MediClinic and the fourway crossing will have an island, preventing motorists to turn right into the Sasol filling station. Big trucks will have to find new overnight parking and in general the entrance to the town will be facelifted.
Today’s march by Cosatu in Polokwane could well witness the beginning of the end for at least twenty prominent Limpopo politicians and business ‘leaders’. Cosatu Provincial Secretary Dan Sebabi said they will march with participating tripartite alliance partners and the Mass Democratic Movement to hand over a memorandum to Premier Cassel Mathale, naming and shaming at least twenty “high flyers” and to expose a R350 million spending spree. The memorandum will be calling for criminal charges against private entities allegedly engaged in business with the Limpopo government. Sebabi said their focus is on crushing corruption so as to create jobs and deliver quality public services. He added that a follow-up march might follow early in September. He also said they will continue to focus on the affairs of parastatals and municipalities. In the mean time the Bulletin is relentless in its investigations into certain projects (in the last seven years Bulletin has probably offered the community more exposés than in the preceding seventy years!). Recently we have made further discoveries about a number of issues and on page 5 our readers get the opportunity to get to know more about one: the drama around the Dandoni Dam, Selby Construction, Esorfranki Pipelines, the Mopani District Municpality, Tlong Re Yeng Trading and others.

Concern about teenage pregnancies The MEC for health and social development, Ms Dikeledi Magadzi, is concerned about an alarming spate of teenage pregnancies in the province. She urged community members to get involved in the fight against teenage pregnancy in the communities. Magadzi warned young girls against engaging in sex before marriage. Magadzi encouraged people to continue testing and checking their status, not only for HIV, but also for other diseases. “TB, breast cancer, diabetes and other diseases are also dangerous and people must consult our clinics for testing. I need everyone to live a healthy life,” she said.
New citrus export market introduced A new and sustainable export market for citrus producers in Limpopo could be created in the near future, thanks to a visit by representatives of a Sicilian export company to the province. The team of Oranfrizer stressed that their visit aim to establish an export/import relationship with citrus producers in Limpopo; and introduce a new orange variety named Terocco to farmers. The variety has reddish flesh and produces a reddish juice. They claim it contains more nutrients. The company has been in citrus trading for almost fifty years and is currently selling citrus and citrus produce in Europe. They deal directly with the largest supermarket groups in Europe and in this way established a guaranteed market.
“The European citrus production season is between December and May, but during the remaining months there is still a high demand for oranges and orange juice. This is why we are here, as farmers here can supply us during the ‘dead’ months,” Ms Sara Grasso, leader of the delegation said. “Our climate and soil types are good for the production of Terocco and new orchards should be in full production three to four years after planting,” Ms Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba, MEC for agriculture said. The visit follows a recent visit by the Premier of Limpopo and a delegation to Italy. The MEC said she never expected such positive results within a few weeks after their visit. — Limpopo News Service

A hundred lots of wine were auctioned, fetching high prices and a total of R67 425 was made, a few hundred rand more than the bid fetchings of last year. LEFT: Ms Barbara Schambacher (a friend of Rotary) received a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ from Rotary president André Boekee and past president Faan de Swardt of the Tzaneen Rotary Club, for her involvement and dedication of her services over the past few years in ensuring that the annual wine auction ‘runs on oiled wheels’.

Net so, sien Vlieg, is daar twee ou bulle wat mekaar so ewe uitdaag!

Rowers slaan helder oordag toe “I’ll shoot you”, dreig hulle Me Gwenn en prof Nic van Schalkwyk. Foto’s: Retha Nel
Volunteers working at the Vervet Monkey Foundation outside Tzaneen ran into trouble during a visit to the Debengeni water falls in Magoesbaskloof on Sunday. They called Mr Dave Protter, who immediately activated the Tzaneen Ambulance Service (TAS) and established a command control centre at Debengeni. Fire & Rescue vehicles and even a helicopter were placed on standby in Polokwane. One of the visitors, Ms Gabi Bertrand (covered in a thermal blanket) from France broke her leg during a fall. Six Mopani mayors were inaugurated over the weekend (read report on this page): at the back are Messrs Pule Mafologele of Maruleng Municipality, Pat Hlungwane of Greater Giyani Municipality, Ms Dikeledi Mmetle of Greater Tzaneen Municipality and Ms Anah Sono of Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality.

Lim rail to be upgraded A memorandum of understanding (MOU) whereby an integrated freight transport infrastructure plan and systems will be established that will enhance economic growth and development in Limpopo has been signed in Polokwane. The MOU has been signed by the CEO of Transnet Freight Rail, Mr Siyabonga Gama, and Ms Pinky Kekana, MEC for Roads and Transport in Limpopo, on Thursday. “It is a fact that freight transportation within Limpopo is not integrated and mostly road based, this justifying efforts to relocate railable freight from road to the rail network. “Informed by the outcomes of the initial investigations, the parties agree that further studies are required to take the initiative to the second phase,” said Gama. According to him this entails a comprehensive feasibility study to test: • The viability of a freight rail service between Tzaneen/Letsitele and Durban and/or Cape Town harbour; and • The viability of establishing a citrus hub
with sorting, packing and cold storage facilities as well as establishing a fresh produce market in Polokwane. MEC Kekana said no economy can thrive without developed rail, road, maritime and aviation infrastructure networks. “No economy can develop unless its transport sector plays its part in facilitating the movement of people, goods and services throughout the economy,” said Kekana. According to the MEC freight transport makes a vital contribution to the economy and society, and is the heart of globalization. “It is therefore important to recognise that the transport and economic dimensions in the SADC regions are linked; the one cannot be seen in isolation from the other, goods and services need to be transported much more frequently in order to sustain the economies,” she said. She also said her department has begun a process to establish their own freight databank for they know the importance of employing information for development control and longterm planning. “The databank will show growth concentration of industry and potential growth areas. This could be a barometer of economic activity levels in the province and therefore indicate the vibrant areas to invest in,” Kekana concluded. — Limpopo News Service

Here’s another crow’s nest... The squabble between a tenderer and the Mopani District Municipality (MDM) over the construction of a R200m pipeline between the Dandoni and Nsami Dams in Limpopo is now heading for the Supreme Court of Appeal. Construction on the 51 km pipeline was halted by an interim high court order recently after the company Esorfranki Pipelines
applied for intervention. Esorfranki’s tender for the project was R10m less than that of a joint venture, Tlong Re Yeng Trading and Base Major Construction, in whose favour the contract was awarded by the MDM. It all started in November last year when the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) investigated the tender
Boere is bitter ‘Die hele affêre stink’
which officials said was incorrectly advertised. It was confirmed that the joint venture was graded lower than what is required for a contract of over R200m. It was also alleged that Tlong Re Yeng Trading was only registered with Cipro as a company two days after the tender was advertised. The municipal manager of the MDM, Mr Tim Maake, has now taken the case tot the SCA, because he argued that the delay is not in the interest of the affected communities who are dependant on the water supply. He also said that the high court order was made in a “prejudicial” manner. Maake’s claims, however, were described by Esorfranki’s MD, Mr Davie Gibbons, as blatant lies and that the MDM had “ulterior motives”. In the mean time it was established that one of the stakeholders who has a 30% share in the joint venture, is Ms Constance Male-
bati of Lenyenye near Tzaneen. She is the elder sister of Mr Selby Manthata of Selby Construction, allegedly a close friend and business partner of Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale. He is said to also have links with the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in the province. Another sister, Ms Julitha Manthata, is a co-director of Selby Construction. She is registered along with Malebati as a director in three other companies. Malebati is also listed by Cipro as a director of Todi Trading Enterprises in which Mathale held a directorship previously. Two law firms, one in Tzaneen and the other in Johannesburg (for Esorfranki), are working on the case, but refused to disclose any information at this stage. • This, however, is the tip of the iceberg and Bulletin will publish some startling information in connection with this crow’s nest next week.

The power of prayer is really amazing, if we use it for unselfish means. It is no use asking God to make us a millionaire if we are not prepared to also work towards this goal. In the past few weeks, after a request for prayer for Simon Venter, God has been faithful as always and heard us. At first all seemed to be going wrong for Simon, and yes, his life was hanging on a thread. But suddenly a change seemed to be taking place. Simon was starting to get better. Now one can always speculate as to the reason for his improvement. But I know that God intervened, He heard our prayers. He started the process of healing. Thus all praise and glory must go to Him and Him alone. This might power of prayer has once again been seen to be very effective. Thus although prayers are still needed for Simon, we need to extend our prayers. We need to pray into everything that is wrong in this world. I know God will hear us and He will do what is right for us. But we must be diligent in our prayers and not only pray in time of need. We need also to give Him the thanks for what He does for us every day. Although we might accept things as taken. God is involved in everyone of our lives. Pray constantly and reap the benefits. God Bless You All

Onthou net, die lede van die “band” kom uit die kerk, so dink miskien aan ‘n naam soos ”Die Heidelbergse Vlieë”, of “Die Vliegende Voorsangers” of les bes, as die talent weereens nie aan jou standaard voldoen nie, “Die Irriterende Vlieë” “What ever”, kom wees net ‘n vlieg teen die muur(of stoel). Sien jou (o ja, jy’s mos anaomoes) so, hoor jou daar. Groete.
Hunting
Dave Du Toit, Chairperson Vervet Monkey Foundation writes: The government regularly states that the hunting industry operates in line with the concept of sustainable utilisation of natural resources as espoused by the International Conservation Union and argues that hunting and allied businesses, which includes wildlife breeding, wildlife capture and transportation and taxidermists,
contribute significantly to the central revenue fiscus and creates jobs. However, the overall economic justifications for trophy hunting have not been independently corroborated or properly investigated. Furthermore, there is uncertainty about how the so-called economic benefits of trophy hunting are being used. There is little evidence that the revenues generated are reinvested in the preservation of wilderness and protecting wild animals. It is also unclear who benefits. It appears that most of the profit goes to individuals within the industry. Despite the proliferation of hunting farms, they are declining in profitability and the possibilities of job creation within the industry are very limited. In an article published on their website in October 2009, PHASA noted that for the period 1 October 2006 to 30 September 2007, 16,394 overseas hunters hunted in the country for an average of four days each. “A total of 46,727 animal species were hunted. This amounts to a total revenue from daily rates, animals hunted and taxidermy work of US$ 91,212,875 million (approximately R730 million).” These figures have not been independently verified. The long-term damage caused by trophy hunting activities outweighs any possible perceived short term gain and the negative evolutionary effects of trophy hunting on wild populations will deplete populations and will thus threaten the tourism industry. Moreover, trophy hunting is incompatible with South Africa’s current attempts to enhance its international image as a destination for ecotourism, with the very animal trophy hunters target as the main attraction. Ecotourism and trophy hunting are essentially mutually exclusive. Eco-tourists do not want to go to places where wildlife is being killed. Trophy hunting will give South Africa a bad name as an ecotourism destination and is thus likely to reduce earnings from ecotourism. Hunting creates little employment in the local area
and sustainability is unproven. Even beyond the suffering caused to the animals, trophy hunting potentially deprives the country of far greater revenues that tourists could contribute. The number of eco-tourists far outstrips the number of trophy hunters. While the hunting industry chiefly benefits wealthy landowners, ecotourism benefits the economy generally and more jobs are created. The photographic safari sector is what is giving the tourism industry its primary boost and it should be viewed as the main growth industry for the future. A 2004 study estimated that ecotourism on private game reserves generated more than 15 times the income from cattle farming or wildlife ranching or overseas hunting and created more jobs (Rebecca Sims-Castley, Graham I H Kerley and Beverley Geach, A Questionnaire -Based Assessment of the Socio-Economic Significance of Ecotourism- Based Private Game Reserves in the Eastern Cape, University of Port Elizabeth, Terrestrial Ecology Research Unit, November 2004), while an Africa Geographic investigation (Ian Michler, To Snap or Snipe?’, Africa Geographic, 2 October 2002) showed that photographic safaris generate more than 12 times as much in staff salaries. In general, trophy and recreational hunting practices benefit limited stakeholder group - mostly local and international hunters, captive breeders and their direct employees; the people of a country receive little of the revenues and rural communities typically have limited access to the financial outcomes of this industry. By contrast, ecotourism funds are spread throughout the local economies, with hotels, taxis, buses, restaurants, souvenir shops and others benefiting from the greater number of tourists than hunters. In fact, the number of trophy hunters is miniscule in comparison to the number of eco-tourists. In most countries, hunters amount to a few hundred or thousand, versus hundreds of thousands — or even millions — of tourists.

We asked some questions so that you can have real answers Allan Kenney How much Life Cover do I need? There are numerous computer programmes to help people with a Financial Needs Analysis. I have found an easier and simple approach to calculate the minimum cover the client requires. I call this the 10 times rule. To calculate the cover required, I calculate 10 times annual income and add on any liabilities. 80% of the cover calculated is allocated to Disability and 60% towards Trauma. For Example: Income per month R15 000
x 12
= Income per year
R180 000 x 10
= Life Cover
R1,8 million
80% R1,44 Disability million 60% Trauma
R1,152 million
Please note that the above mentioned calculation is the MINIMUM cover required for Death, Disability and Trauma Cover.
Can anyone become a member of a medical scheme? Yes, provided they can afford the monthly premium. Medical Aid Schemes used to be able to reject applicants based on their age or health but is no longer legal to do so. Cover can be excluded for a period of time e.g. pregnancy will not be covered if you are already pregnant when you apply.
What is a medical savings account? A medical savings account is a pool of the members own money set aside from the contribution for payment of day-to-day medical expenses (anything that happens outside the hospital). Any portion that is not used in the year carries forward to the following year and is paid to the member when he terminates his membership.

When you as a client reach the point where you have to sign off on a shortterm insurance policy and the premium are already set according to the risk. Please!! Sit back and review the risk, accuracy of information provided by you as a client. Remember, the insurer’s premium (risk) was based on your
accurate and honest information. Therefor, just as you have the right to expect your insurance company to pay valid claims, you as the policyholder have a responsibility to understand exactly what your policy covers and what to do to ensure that your claim isn’t rejected.
Honesty is the best policy Information that you accurately disclose to an insurer:
1
Personal details
2
Accurate replacement values of all valuables insured
3
Correct banking details
4
Full disclosure previous claims history
5

Myth Intermediaries do not add real value to consumers.
Reality Intermediaries perform important tasks for consumers that add significant value. A financial adviser will usually have several insurance companies he deals with and will ask for quotes on the client’s behalf. A good financial advisor will represent the client, cut through the red tape and interpret jargon. Most individuals will say that, in the events of a claim, they feel more comfortable with someone on their side. Cost of advice is efficient – direct cover is on average 9% more expensive that traditional
insurance. The financial advisor will review your cover annually to ensure that you are adequately covered and are not under-insured in the event of changing needs. Financial advisors provide a holistic view on gaps in financial planning or risk cover. Financial advisors are someone you can speak to if you have any questions.

Allan Forbes When can I claim for my trauma or disability on my policy? Trauma pays for the event. Disability pays for the result. Eg: You suffer a stroke and as a result are paralysed. • On diagnosis of stroke - trauma claim pays out. • Once degree of your disability is established - disability claim pays out.

Hospitaalvoordele
Uitsluitingstyd

Nedbank makes things happen for charity The opening of the Nedbank branch in Kgapane’s Modjadji Plaza made things happen for a drop-off centre in the area, as part of the bank’s community outreach programme. Nedbank’s Kgapane branch was officially opened on 16 July, and this gave the bank the opportunity to work with the Greater Letaba Municipality in identifying three charity organisations. The drop-off centre provides after school ac-
tivities and meals to 135 children between the ages of five and eighteen. Thirteen ladies help with cooking and caring for the children. Nedbank donated a cooker using solar energy. This will ensure that the centre saves on their electricity bill. The solar cooker is another environmentally friendly initiative by Nedbank, who pride themselves in being a green bank. Over 300 spinach plants were also donated

to help start up the garden, needing only 340 millilitres of water per plant daily. The centre relies completely on donations and the secretary, Ms Selina Makunda, said that Nedbank’s donation would go a long way in sustaining them. Nedbank’s area manager, Mr Steven Mudzunga, said he was in his own capacity organising for furniture for the centre, as well as clothes with a colleague of his.

The department is currently rebuilding long stretches of the R36 in close proximity of the town. “Yes, the mayor indeed thought that it would make financial sense to rebuild the street, since all the necessary plant and materials are now available. “Money for rebuilding the severely battered street is not available in the town’s already stretched budget, hence the request to province,” Sibanda said. The GLM is waiting for a reply from the MEC and is hopeful that the province will come to the resque of the town, its frusModjadji trated residents and

The dangers of the thumb generation The generation we live in is being defined by the evolution of technology. Everything we do these days is dramatically different to the same activity performed a mere decade ago as we constantly strive to make everything faster and more efficient. Thus, the evolution of technology is being accelerated by our need for information and more importantly the need for that information anywhere and at any given time. Only a few techies out there may know this, but an extraordinary event in the realm of technology occurred last month. The sales per unit of smartphones exceeded those of
personal computers for the first time ever. It is therefore easy to see that informationcraving-humans and businessmen everywhere want one thing; everything needs to be right there in their pockets. Businessmen and teenagers are falling for a common denominator found in hand held technology; it creates something to do without any real effort. Teenagers playing on their portable gaming devices are being defined as the “thumb generation” and businessmen bored by constant meetings and seminars are retreating into a so called “BlackBerry Prayer” around the world daily. What’s wrong with this phenomenon you may ask? The fact is, it continues without end all day, and we are doing it whilst driving. Information can be distributed at a drop of a dime these days. By prodding a few buttons on that luxurious QWERTY keyboard, followed by a tap of the send button to update a post or tweet, hundreds even thousands of friends, contacts and even followers will receive that information immediately. The simplicity of it all is remarkable
and even a little deceiving as we think we can do this whilst operating a few hundred kilograms of moving motor vehicle. In South Africa it is illegal to operate a motor vehicle whilst using a cell phone and fines given to perpetrators can be as high as R500 if caught. This illegal practice of talking on a phone whilst driving was curbed with the introduction of hands free devices in vehicles, but has since resurfaced as social media updating and other forms of message related typing became more popular and readably available through applications on smartphones. The now retired queen of talk show hosts, made it her personal mission in creating awareness into the phenomenon with her “No
Phone Zone” campaign. According to research conducted in 2009, 20% of motor vehicle collisions resulting in injuries involved reports of distracted driving. Of those killed in distracted-driving-related crashes, a large number of the collisions involved reports of a cell phone as the distraction (18% of fatalities in distraction-related crashes). A second study done by the editor of a pop-
ular car magazine had shown that texting or emailing whilst driving may be more dangerous than that whilst driving under the influence. According to the study, the braking distance of someone texting whilst driving on reaction to brake lights in front of them is 21 meters more than that of someone driving regularly. ER24 would like to advise road users to abstain from using any form of cellular device whilst operating a motor vehicle, especially if it requires you to type a message. With the number of hazards already prevalent on our roads, and considering the severe bodily harm you or your passengers could sustain should you be in a motor vehicle collision, does it not seem better to delay typing on your smartphone knowing that that update, tweet or email may be the last one you ever send?

The All-new Ford Focus It looks good and makes all the right sounds... It corners like a Golf If you don’t buy one, you might be given one as a company car. Or a close friend or someone in your family will have one. So what are you in for? It’s a seriously good car. And the EcoBoost petrol engine, a 1,6 litre TiVCT 16v DOHC with the power of a two-litre and the gutsy torque of a diesel, should be your model of choice. It’s smooth and quiet and economical
when you are out on a Sunday drive, but put your foot down and it becomes a bat out of hell. Down the road, it feels like a Golf: quiet, refined, very grown up. The ride is really excellent, a lot more comfortable than the old model, which wasn’t a bad one at that. It also corners like a Golf, grips well, reacts gently to any sudden maneuvres.
Euro NCAP 5 Stars
Then there’s the body design. The proportions are fine, and it’s distinctive. You won’t confuse it with anything else.
There is also a 2,0 litre direct injected 16v DOHC, delivering 125 kW and 202 Nm, as well as a 2,0 litre common rail diesel direct injection, delivering 120 Kw and 340 Nm, both with a six speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Ford claims a consumption of 6 litres per 100 km for the 1,6 litre models, 6,4 litres for the 2,0 litre model and 5,3 litres for the diesel, all over combined cycles. All models achieved a five star rating at the Euro NCAP. Service intervals are 20 000 km Trend Sedan 1.6L Ti-VCT 5-speed manual transmission from R226,400 (incl. VAT and CO2 emissions tax) Trend PowerShift Sedan 2.0 GDi and 2.0 TDCi 6-speed PowerShift auto transmission from R264,300 (incl. VAT & CO2 emissions tax) Sport Hatch 2.0 GDi 5-speed manual transmission from R266,200 (Incl. VAT & CO2 emissions tax)
and the service plan covers 5 years/90 000 km. All models carry a 4 year/120 000 km factory warranty.

The New A6 — engineered with a lighter touch
The new Audi A6 – now in its seventh generation – is geared to set a new standard in the C-segment as it features many technical innovations and lightweight aluminium design. The body of the new A6 is exceedingly light, thanks to an intelligent composite design concept. Numerous aluminium components and high-tech steels reduce its weight by 30 kilograms when compared to the previous model, making it the backbone of a systematic lightweight design concept. Among the standard equipment in the new A6 is the Audi drive select dynamic handling system. It modifies the accelerator characteristic, the shift points of the automatic transmission and the power steering boost. The driver can vary the function of these components between the three predefined modes “comfort,” ”auto” and “dynamic”. An additional mode “individual” allows the driver to create a preferred mode profile within certain limits. All TDI and TFSI also feature “efficiency “mode, which allows even more fuel-efficient style of driving. This high-end radar cruise control regulates the speed and the distance to the vehicle ahead by accelerating or braking in a range from 0 to 250km/h, and reduces speed automatically within certain limits. In the standard version Audi pre sense basic, the system becomes active when it detects an unstable driving situation via the sensors of the ESP electronic stabilisation programme. It ensures that the front seatbelts are electrically tensioned and the sunroof and side windows are closed, leaving just a small gap. Audi pre sense front comes standard in combination with ACC stop & go. The new Audi A6 is debuting with three powerplants: one petrol engine and two TDI units. All of the units are direct injection engines, the 3.0 TFSI uses a supercharger to achieve boost and the two TDI units operate with turbochargers.
Throughout the model line-up, fuel consumption has fallen by up to 19 percent even though performance and torque figures have increased. The 3.0 TFSI produces 220kW and delivers 440Nm of torque between 2 900 and 4 500 rpm. The supercharged engine, mated with S tronic and quattro drives, gives the A6 the performance of a sports car. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, and top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. It consumes an average of 8.2 litres per 100 km and emits 190g of CO2 per km. The 3.0 TDI is available in two variants. The more powerful V6 generates 180kW and applies 500Nm of torque, available between 1 400 and 3 250 rpm. S tronic and quattro drive are standard with this engine version. The standard sprint is over is just 6.1 seconds, and top speed is limited to 250 km/h. The top-of-the-range TDI consumes just 6.0 litres of fuel per 100 km and emits 158g CO2 per km. In terms of efficiency, the second engine version of the 3.0 TDI multitronic with 150kW does even better by emitting just 137g of CO2 per km; it achieves an average fuel consumption of 5.2 litres per 100 km. Advanced safety and assistance systems such Audi pre sense, adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, Audi Active lane assist, Audi side assist, night vision assistant, speed limit display and park assist as well as full colour heads-up display.

Relay is drawing nearer Enter your company and support the fight against cancer Relay For Life began in 1985 in Tacoma, Washington where a single man, Dr Gordy Klatt decided to raise funds for the American Cancer Association and to honour his cancer patients. He ran around a track for 24 hours. This event has now grown and is held all over the world – South Africa being the 23rd country to join the Relay For Life movement. Relay For Life is an international initiative that unites cancer survivors and the communities that care for them. The Tzaneen Relay For Life is organised by volunteers from the Tzaneen area. This event is an opportunity to celebrate the lives of survivors (you are a Survivor from the moment of being diagnosed with cancer), to raise funds for research and education about cancer, and to raise funds for supporting cancer patients and survivors in Limpopo. The relay takes place from sunset to sunrise, 18:00 to 06:00 on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 November 2011. This 12 hour relay entails teams of around ten persons each, walking, or running around a rugby field. It is symbolic of the fact that cancer never sleeps, and that we cannot rest until a cure has been found. Relay For Life is a family and community event, where the whole family is welcome. With plenty of music, entertainment, fun for the
kids, food and coffee to keep everyone entertained and awake right through the night. This is also the perfect company event and a great way to engage your staff and promote your business, club, or association. Anyone can enter a team, so get your team together now.
This week’s fitness tip Ettienne van Wyngaardt (Fitness specialist)
There is a saying that goes: If there are no OBSTACLES, there’ll never be a MIRACLE. If there are no DIFFICULTIES, there’ll never be a POSSIBILITY. The bigger the OBSTACLES, the greater the MIRACLES.
The bigger the DIFFICULTIES, the greater the POSSIBILITIES. Just remember that getting into shape isn’t easy. If it was easy everyone would have been in shape. But if you get there the rewards are priceless. So just keep on trying and your reward will come.
