■ Jeff Jackson The Department of Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, and provincial MEC’s were on Monday stuck in an urgent meeting discussing the leak of yet another matric exam paper. The Department of Basic Education last week confirmed that the Mathematics Paper 2 had been leaked in Limpopo and Gauteng. The department is expected to release their first investigation results at the end of November and decide whether candidates need to rewrite or not. According to Elijah Mhlanga, the spokesperson for the Department

of Education, the Physical Science paper was leaked on Monday morning prior the commencing of the exam. The reported leak came after the department had asked the Hawks to investigate the initial leak of the Mathematics 1 paper last week. Mhlanga stated that the investigations were at an advanced stage and submissions would be made to the public at the right time. “In addition to this, the department has also dispatched teams to provinces to recheck the security systems,” stated Mhlanga. The Council of Education Ministers (CEM), a body comprised of Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga

and the nine provincial MEC’s, has launched an investigation into how the pupils obtained the maths and physical science papers prior their exams. The CEM expressed concern that the leaks were causing disruptions to a system which already experienced challenges due to Covid-19. “We condemn in the strongest terms the conduct of persons who undermine the integrity of the examination because it causes untold stress on the learners who are looking forward to exiting the schooling system with a pass from an honest examination, not one associated with cheating,” she

said. The minister reassured the public that officials were hard at work to ensure that the exams are protected. Member of Parliament, Nomsa Marchesi, from the Democratic Alliance has now called on both Motshekga and the Director-General of the DBE, Hubert Mweli, to account for the leaked matric exam papers. “They must also tell us where these leaks originated from and the steps they have put in place to mend the cracks within the DBE, which have created a fertile ground for these leaks to happen in an unrelenting fashion,” mentioned Marchesi.

Alltogeter 15 young men from Phalaborwa have taken service delivery into their own hands and have systematically started filling up potholes in their neighbourhoods. Clifford Manyama, the group leader of 14 young men who are sacrificing their precious free time to do the municipality’s work, told Bulletin that a motorvehicle accident in his street is what prompted them to fix the roads. “There were two accidents in our streets because drivers were trying to avoid the potholes and this sparked an urgency within ourselves to do something about it before a student gets hit by a car,” stated Manyama. “We do not own cars but we own our lives and if our lives are at risk because of the potholes in town then we will do something about it,” continued Manyama who told Bulletin that they have been repairing the streets of Phalaborwa for more than three weeks. He explained that they would at times rotate their work schedule based on who is available and has no other commitments from the college. Residents have heaped praises on these young men for what they are doing for the community. “Hands working together can achieve more than loud mouths,” said one resident. In just a single day, the group of young men filled 23 large potholes and managed to rehabilitate an entire street using cement, something the municipality takes years to do. Manyama told Bulletin that he and his team were volunteering to help the community live in a “better Phalaborwa”. He said “we are not from this town, but we are living here so we might as well do everything we can to make it a happier place to be.” He added that they were grateful for the support that they have received from the community in terms of donations for them to buy more cement and at times food. Asked how much the project has cost them thus far, he said: “Can one really put a price on the time spent and resources to repairing these 084 4000 911

potholes. As a community we see it as priceless because this an attempt to keep our town great, always.” The group have earmarked many other streets that they are looking to patch up, should the municipality not do it. “This is a time where unemployment is high, and one cannot sit back and wait to be called but to get up and get working. One has to create their own employment even if it means having to volunteer for a greater good,” Manyama told Bulletin. Those who are volunteering include Lesedi Mashile, Nyiko Mkabela, Moses Pako, Martin Kgatla, Romeo Makhabudi, Moye Mathekga, Ntiyiso Sewela, Molefe Mateo, Thulani Mkansi, Kgodisho Mokoena, Masete Thsepo, Thiisetso Rakgabale, Richard Mkhize, and Zwelithin Sibuyi. ***Editor’s Note: The Ba-Phalaborwa municipal seat warmers have offered no comment on this matter. The absolute lack of transparency and blatant disregarding of the media which is meant to be an avenue to the community, is astounding. The municipality has not contacted the group to thank them or acknowledge their work publicly. Similarly, there is the Phalaborwa Cleaning team run by Marietjie Maré who have been cleaning the pavements and parks of the town for two years without payment or assistance from the municipality. So my question is this; if there is a roads maintenance budget as the BPM’s spokesperson Jonas Mahesu (078 099 2830) continuously states, and if there is a cleaning a department, then why are these departments not doing their jobs? Should those salaries not be funneled to the two volunteer groups who are actually doing the jobs which their rates and taxes are meant to be used for? In effect, the two volunteer groups are paying rates to allow them to work. Nowhere in the world do employers pay employees to allow the employers to do the job the employees are meant to do. Perhaps the ratepayers and homeowners should establish a trust account and pay their monthly rates and levies into that account instead of the municipal coffers.

■ Billy Sibuyi While people in the troubled Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality continue to face well-documented water shortages, some residents have told Bulletin that they will not take the lack of service delivery sitting down. The municipality’s lack of service delivery and it being attributed to lack of money has brought a once ‘cleanest town in South Africa’ to its knees. Poor service delivery at the municipality is something that residents of Phalaborwa have been fighting against for so many years that they have long since resigned themselves to it. However, not anymore. This was after an executive Mayor’s Public Participation on by-laws where the district municipality engaged residents about the by-laws, but the residents were having none of it as they demanded answers on the ‘forever’ failing water system, electricity failures, sewerage problems, and the extensive list of other failures. With the amount of questions that the residents were asking, the district municipality could only answer that “it is the job of your municipality to do that.” “The lowered standards of the once proud Phalaborwa civil service have apparently become the norm and have given some officials the full right to not even bother to do something, hence at most times, employees are only noticeable only after 16:00, one wonders were they have been the entire day,” said one concerned resident.

The general feeling among the larger part of the populous in Phalaborwa seems to be that service delivery in Phalaborwa is no longer available. “They come to your house today, after two weeks of waiting, to fix the sewerage then they tell you they will only come back and fix it after the grass has been cut by a different department and so you have to wait for God knows how long before they come cut the grass and then subsequently fix the sewerage problem,” said a disgruntled resident. “Something needs to be done. If we are just going to complain over the phone and group chats then nothing will happen. We need to drop of petitions and march to those offices as a whole,” stated a disgruntled Saartjie Maathuisen. Residents believe that the district municipality’s by-laws public participation did not provide them with the answers or solutions they wanted to hear. “Maybe the reason we are constantly without water and are being told that the reservoir is empty, low, being cleaned, or serviced is a part of a bigger problem. Maybe there is no empty reservoir but an empty account. Last year around November and December when the municipality had not paid these people, what did they do? They shut down certain valves and the municipality paid its dues and I personally believe that this is what is going on now,” said another resident who wished to remain anonymous. Bulletin has submitted questions to the spokesperson of the municipality, Jonas Mahesu, regarding the account and we await their response.

Minister blocks lion meat sales ■ Billy Sibuyi

The Environmental Minister Barbara Creecy has moved to veto an amendment to the existing Meat Safety Act, which would allow for the commercial sale of lion meat in South Africa. The changes were initially proposed by the Agriculture Minister Thoko Didiza, but the Cabinet now face a battle amongst themselves on this issue as the minister has unilaterally stopped the action. In a conversation with Bulletin, Member of Parliament, Hannah Shameema Winkler, revealed that during a portofilio committee sitting of the Department of Environmental Affairs, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF), and the department of agriculture officials it was revealed that the reason why there had been an amendment to the meat and safety act was because of the lion farming industry. “Lion meat is a by-product of a captive lion hunt and lion bone export and it seems there was a push from that industry to be able to slaughter lion and sell the meat and perhaps export it,” stated Winkler. Minister Didiza gazetted the proposed amend-

ment to the Meat Safety Act 2000 (MSA) earlier this year which would have allowed for the commercial sale of lion meat. The DA has now submitted a number of written questions on the proposed amendment to the MSA to both the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) and the Department of Environmental Affairs, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF) to seek clarity on the motivation behind the proposed inclusion of threatened and protected species (TOPS) to the act. A DEFF portfolio committee meeting with DALRRD officials was also requested and convened to discuss the implications of the MSA amendment on TOPS species. During the course of the meeting, it was revealed that the inclusion of TOPS species in Schedule 1 of the MSA would in fact also apply to lions, despite the fact that that lions were not explicitly mentioned in the amendment to Schedule 1 of the act. “This omission is conspicuous by its absence considering that other TOPS species of public concern and interest such as giraffe, rhino and hippo, to

name a few, were explicitly listed under Schedule 1 for public comment. Upon questioning, it was clarified that the undefined catch-all phrase at the bottom of the MSA gazette which reads that ‘the act also applies to all other species of animals not mentioned including birds, fish and reptiles’ in fact includes lions that is, the amendment would allow for the legal slaughter and sale of lion meat for human and animal consumption,” stated Winkler. Winkler told Bulletin that there are at present about 3000 wild lions left in the reserves and that DEFF is unable to tell them how many captive lions there are. “The estimates are at the 8000 range but research show that there could be about 12 000 captive lions and this is part of the problem that the department and the provinces do not have the resources, oversight capacity, and the ability to enforce compliance. This is indictive of the fact that they do not know how many lions there are in South Africa, neither leopards nor cheetah,” stated Winkler. “We encourage Minister Didiza to heed Minister

Environmental Minister Barbara Creecy

Creecy’s decision to not allow for the legal commercial sale of lion meat. As it is, the captive predator breeding industry is beleaguered by controversy and welfare concerns over captive lion hunts and the export of lion bones. South Africa’s wildlife belongs to all and we have a responsibility to exercise custodianship of our natural heritage for present and future generations,” concluded Winkler.

Workers benefit as leaders Park ranger still missing face jail time after strike ■ Jeff Jackson and Joe Dreyer Jubilation by hundreds workers of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) in town after their demands for the encashment of leave days was met, was short-lived as leaders of the left aligned South African Municipal Workers (SAMWU) were arrested on Wednesday, a day after the eight days strike came to an end. They were arrested and released on police bail after the intervention of their legal team on the day. Contrary to initial claims that only two leaders of the union, Moses Malatji, the chairperson, and Peter Modika, the secretary were nabbed, reports said that all shop stewards were arrested for various charges as well. The charges that included sabotage and damage to property followed the sabotage of electrical and water reticulation infrastructure during the course of the strike. Parts of Tzaneen were left waterless for two days. The strike, prompted by the refusal of the management to allow employees to encash their leave days, vehicle and housing allowances, only came to an end after the municipality conceded to the demands of the workers on condition that it will be paid in fractions. Workers were allowed to encash their leave days, but they will receive the money on a first come first served basis. Three days after the workers returned to their workplaces, a message was sent to all the staff advising them to encash their leave days, but payment would commence with those who applied timeously. “If you want to encash your leave, you can now submit your application. Please note that we will prioritise those who had already submitted their applications from July. Please use the old form to apply. From Corporate services.” From as early as 2000 when the new municipalities were introduced, GTM workers could redeem their leave days but were only allowed to encash eight days. When an employee completed ten years of service, that employee was permitted to sell more than ten days leave up to a total of 18 days. In 2011 during a SALGA bargaining council meeting between all unions namely SAMWU and Independent Municipal and Allied Unions (IMATU) the days increased to ten days. Among some of the concessions between the three parties (as published in this newspaper in 2018) was that the days for sick leave had increased from 90 days annually to 120. It was also agreed that if an employee were sick, he could be paid for 360 days instead of 180. Another concession was that those working overtime should receive transport and cellphones. According to an employee who could not be named, when the new municipal manager, Thapelo Matlala arrived at the municipality in 2018, the encashment of leave days was shelved and overtime pay was re-

duced. It is this approach that landed Matlala in the hotseat with unions who accussed him of being (among others) “too bossy”. The strike action last week, by SAMWU workers which literally brought services at the Tzaneen municipality to a standstill, was not the first attempt by this union to unseat Matlala. The way the strike action played out, right from the start, led to whispers in the corridors that the strike itself was orchestrated by a faction within the municipality seeking to remove both Matlala and the mayor, Mangena. SAMWU members were on strike against the encashment of their leave days, but later marched to the Tzaneen police station where they opened a case of fraud and corruption against Matlala citing the Codesa Road project case and the widely reported appointment of extra security at the GTM buildings after a group of protestors stormed into the council chambers and attempted to attack the municipal manager. Both cases had already been heard in court. Shortly after SAMWU’s case was opened at the police station, the GTM’s acting head of security, Kenny Makhubela opened a case of Public Violence and Contravention of a Court Order against the union’s leadership which resulted in the arrests being effected. The suspects were released on the same day however and are to appear in court soon. At the time of going to print we had not received a court date. This week the SAMWU leadership travelled to Polokwane to appeal against the interim high court order obtained by the municipal manager to prevent the strike from continuing. The Polokwane High Court upheld the interdict against SAMWU making it valid until the return date. Bulletin has still not managed to gain any clarity on why the police had stalled in their response to the violent protests, or the sabotaging of the town’s water supply. We have asked both the provincial spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, and the Tzaneen Cluster Commander Brig-Genl Maggie Mathebula for comment on the police in Tzaneen’s hesitation to execute their mandate despite a high court order obligating them to prevent further strike action and acts of violence. Our inquiries to Ngoepe were met with the response “police investigations will tell” or “I will check”. Brig-Genl Mathebula has not responded to our last message. It is the view of a number of observers including the DA’s MP Desiree van der Walt, and the municipal manager, Thapelo Matlala that the strike action and subsequent events could have been avoided had the police enforced the law and prevented the strike from escalating to the levels it did. Through the lawless actions of the SAMWU members, and the hesitation of the police to stop them, the municipal manager was forced to bend to their demands in order to prevent further damage to infrastructure and further disruptions to essential service delivery. The cost of the encashment amounts to an extra R2.62 million for the month of July only.

■ Billy Sibuyi Checkers Mashego, the 51-year old ranger who went missing on Tuesday, the 17th of November, in the while on patrol in the Kruger national Park, was still missing at the time of going to print. He was last seen in his full ranger uniform, and he had a rifle, cellphone, and radio on him. Mashego was first reported missing by his colleagues on that Tuesday evening when he failed to show up at an agreed rendezvous point, after a routine patrol along the Nsikazi River in the Stolsnek Section of the Kruger National Park. The communication head of SANParks, Isaac Phaahla, told Bulletin that the rangers worked in pairs, however Mashego was not seen by his partner when he disappeared into the great wilderness of the South of the Kruger National Park. Phaahla did not want to speculate when Bulletin inquired about the ranger’s lack of communication despite him being in possession of both a radio and a cellphone, but said that investigations were underway. The South African National Parks (SANParks) ranger corps, their K9 unit, as well as airwing and environmental crime investigation units have intensified their search since Mashego was reported missing more than a week ago. “SANParks officials have notified his family and are currently in contact with them to provide any further support required. The incident was reported to the SAPS who have registered a missing person’s enquiry at the Skukuza Police Station,” said the KNP Managing Executive, Gareth Coleman. SANParks said that they will continue with their efforts and leave no stone unturned in the search for the Ranger. On Saturday KNP said colleagues held a prayer led by Kruger for Jesus Pastor Dr Ezrom Mathumbu. Should anyone be able to provide any information relating to the whereabouts of the missing Field Ranger, Checkers Mashego, they should contact either their nearest Police Station, Skukuza Police Station or SANParks MAJOC Emergency Call Centre numbers 013 735 0197/076 801 9679.

FOSKOR INSIDE COMMUNITIES MAKING SUSTAINABLE IMPACT Foskor believes in the long-term integrated sustainable development of communities in our areas of operations. This fundamental belief is premised on the spirit of Ubuntu

and it is enabled by our pursuit to implement the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act and the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act.

Accordingly, our overall approach in doing business looks beyond just complying with the regulatory frameworks. Our commitment to transformation is resolute

and we view people empowerment being the only right way to conducting sustainable business.

CONSTRUCTION OF MAKATIKELE PRIMARY SCHOOL Located in Makhushane Traditional Authority, in Ba-Phalaborwa, the Boelang section of the village is a rapidly fast- growing community. As a result, children walk vast distances to access the nearby community schools while at the same time exposed to many social ills such as crime, rape and related other cruelties. The school is approximately 85% completed. As an integrated sustainable business, the project execution was done by the SMME’s mainly from the Makhushane Traditional Authority

making it a benchmark in the model of executing communitybased projects through empowerment. Makatikele Primary School is earmarked for completion and handover to the Department of Education and the community during the financial year 2020/2021.

The newly constructed Makatikele Primary School in Makhushane village.

FENCING OF THE NEW LANDFILL SITE The lifespan of the old landfill site in Ba-Phalaborwa Town has reached an end. As a result, Foskor, in consultation with the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality and the Integrated Development Plan, included in the previous SLP 2013/2018 the fencing of the new landfill site located on the R40 just outside town. Approximately 3.5 kilometre of fencing was completed during 2019 with some 400 metres earmarked for completion in 2020.

Impact of the initiative Once completed the landfill will enable the municipality to collect refuse across all the rural communities which will create a much cleaner and better environment for these communities. The project has already made some significant inroads with the purchase of the refuse collection truck handed over to the Municipality in 2018.

The landfill site fence erected by Foskor as part of the SLP 2013-2018.

Project impact The project is a legacy for Foskor brand as it provides infrastructure that is at the heart of driving education and development of our most disadvantaged and vulnerable members of our society, the children. The project construction was done by 100% HDSA BO/BWO companies which created an impactful change for the community of Makhushane Traditional Authority in terms of SMME’s and jobs created.

Have we fenced in the wrong park? ■ Joe Dreyer ‘The situation in the public park between Park and Poinsettia Streets is worsening at a rapid rate. Last week Bulletin reported on the vandalism of the trees next to one of the two dams in this park which were transformed into signboards advertising taxi car wash rates. The ward councillor for this ward, Tienie Prinsloo, was informed of the situation and instructed to take the matter up with the municipality as a matter of extreme urgency. This apparently did not happen which prompted DA MP, Desireé van der Walt, to take the matter up with the municipal manager and the mayor in person. In the meantime, the informal and illegal carwash entrepreneurs have continued with business as usual as the police said that they are not able to remove the squatters from the site as it is municipal property and the municipality has to remove them as there is no criminal offense. Fires have been started at the site and earlier

this week, an informal hair salon sprung up next to the carwash. In her communication to the GTM Mayor, Maripe Mangena, Van der Walt requested urgent attention and called for the area to be fenced off and signboards stating “no fishing” or “washing of cars” to be clearly displayed. She indicated that the Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, Barbara Creecy, would be informed of the matter. The park in question houses a protected frog species which is endemic to Tzaneen and surrounding areas. There was also a protected bird species in this open-air nature preserve at one point which is why the park used to be patrolled two decades or so ago. Long time residents of the area told Bulletin that there used to be a large rock with a plaque stating that the park was a sanctuary, but the municipality removed the plaque a few years ago and declared that it no longer bore the title. A Google search however reveals that the park is still registered as a nature preserve. “The problem is that if this situation is allowed to escalate, pretty

soon there will be a shack erected among the bushes. Soon after that there will be another one and so on, until we have an informal settlement in the middle of a residential neighbourhood. The municipality will then be powerless to remove the residents of such an informal settlement,” said van der Walt. “The laws of this municipality need to be adhered to.” ***Editors Note: Did we not perhaps spend unnecessary money, time and effort to fence in the wrong park? Would the palisade fence which now renders the Minitzani Park devoid of any children, not have been more suited around this green strip in the middle of the residential neighbourhood in Park Street? We now have an increase in criminal activity inside a preserve, which we could have put a stop to, in exchange for a model playpark nobody visits anymore. On that point, Bulletin has sent inquiries to the municipal manager regarding the procedures followed in the run up to the sudden fencing in of that park which is municipal property and would have required a public participation meeting.

Serial rapist finally sentenced ■ Billy Sibuyi After nearly a decade of ducking and diving through either claiming to be sick, changing lawyers, and even escaping police custody, 28-year-old, Sakkie Ephraim Manganyi, was finally found guilty on eight counts of rape and eight counts of other crimes related to robberies and kidnappings committed in the Namakgale Policing area. Although his sentences will run concurrently, Manganyi was sentenced to eight life imprisonments and an additional 25 years for the eight counts of robberies and kidnappings he committed between 2012 and 2014 by the Phalaborwa Regional Court. What this means is that Manganyi who could have been given nine separate sentences, will only serve one sentence of life imprisonment and according to the police he could be eligible for parole in his 40’s should he ‘behave himself whilst incarcerated’. Manganyi who has now been registered as a sexual offender, and two other suspects, raped a 17-year-old victim in 2012 when she and her boyfriend were walking home at about 02:30 in the morning. “The suspects grabbed the woman and threatened her partner with a knife and took their cellphones. Her boyfriend managed to escape but the victim was dragged to the nearby bushes and raped by the suspects who later fled

the scene,” a police statement said. “The suspect continued with his devious acts and raped a 28 year-old woman with his accomplices on Sunday, the 3rd of June 2012 at about 20:30. The victim was busy practicing to drive a vehicle with her boyfriend at the local ground near Phalaborwa Primary school,” continued the police statement. The three suspects produced a firearm and forced the boyfriend out of the vehicle before driving off to the nearby bushes where they gangraped the victim. In September 2014, a 24-year-old woman was walking along the street with her male classmate when they came across two unknown suspects. According to police reports the suspects started beating her classmate who then ran away, and Manganyi forcefully dragged her to the riverbed and raped her several times. Rape cases were opened at Namakgale Police station and they were later assigned to Detective Sergeant Khazamula Oral Mhlongo attached to the Phalaborwa Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences (FCS) Unit. According to a police report, Mhlongo, worked tirelessly to ensure that the accused was arrested within a short period and was positively linked to eight counts of rapes in 2014. The accused was kept in police custody without bail until his sentencing and he refused to reveal his accomplices.

BULLETIN WANTS ANSWERS Crime within the Mopani District appears to be a situation too large for the local police to contain as there are many cases still open even after years had past since the crime was committed. Bulletin has started the process of obtaining the case numbers from the police to compile a picture of the real situation in Modjadjiskloof, Tzaneen, Letsitele, Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit areas. We contacted the Tzaneen Cluster Commander, Brig Gnl Maggie Mathebula, and asked how many unsolved cases there were at the various police stations in her jurisdiction. She directed us to the provincial spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe, who still has not provided us with an answer. Failing communication on the matter with the spokesperson, we again directed our query to Mathebula who simply replied with “only the minister can provide you with that information, I’m sorry I can’t help.” If any of our readers have case numbers still under investigation or not resolved, please send us an email to joe@bulletin.us.com.

reeds terug by die huis.

LET’S TALK REAL ESTATE

Verlore seun

Is the time right to buy property? With the whole world recovering from Covid-19 lockdown and a dramatic 2020 brimmed with corruption and ill politics, the questions most people are asking are; When is the right time to buy property? And, will my investment be safe? Although the property market countrywide experienced extreme precariousness, the Tzaneen property market however remained stable and to an extend showed drastic improvement. Properties that have been on the market for more than 12 months now matured into the correct price range and are actually now selling. Sellers have become aware that putting

their houses on the market at the correct price will guarantee a quick sale. With the interest rate cuts buying a home has become more affordable to buyers, making it a very feasible option when you consider renting vs buying. Tzaneen has a very low level of stock and considering the fact that buyers and tenants are both competing in the same pool, the search in finding a home to purchase has even intensified. However, buyers still remain a little reluctant to take the plunge. So we return to the question haunting buyers. Is it safe to buy property in this whirlwind of unpredictability? Our answer...Yes, yes, yes. Firstly, buyers should take advantage of the low interest rates and the banks willingness to finance. Secondly it will not help to wait for the prices to go down while the contrary is eminent and statistics proves that the prices are indeed surging. Due to the infrastructure in Tzaneen, or rather the lack thereof, there are very few developments, and chances of Tzaneen growing extensively is unlikely. Prices in Tzaneen increase YOY (Year on year), between 11 and 20%, in comparison to Pretoria for instance where prices

increase between 5 and 9%. Mainly due to the slow development rate. Sellers are certainly also taking advantage of the same fact that prices are increasing when putting their properties up for sale. However sometimes sellers decide on pricing without consulting with their local estate agent who have first hand experience of the prices in their distinct areas. This might be a great concern seeing that buyers might then put in offers below market price presuming sellers should accept due to desperation or financial strain which is definitely not the case. Sellers still have the proxy to decline low offers and rather opt to counter offer. Holistically, serious buyers usually sign within the first 2 weeks of the property being on the market at the correct price and sellers also achieved the best price during this time. Therefore it is crucial that sellers price correct. Investing in a property at any age is proven to be the best investment one can make. So for the best advice on how to get the best property deal, whether you are buying or selling, do not hesitate to call your local Seeff agent.

Liefde by uitstek. My asemhaling bly kwart. Hartlike liefdegroete, Keppies Roux

Clean podium sweep for Insect Science riders ■ Roelof de Jonge

The Mountain Bike (MTB) team of Insect Science headed to Sabie where they took on one of the most iconic races, the Sabie Xperience, from the 13th until the 15th of November. The Insect Science MTB team showed their mettle in the Sabie Xperience to take up the first three spots on the podium in the Solo Challenge category. Team owner Gerhard Booysen also took the top spot in the Solo Lite category. Booysen had a great outing and showed he was relishing the route. He went on to take a well-deserved overall win by clinching three outright stage wins. Alan Gordon along with the rest of the other Insect Science riders competed in the Solo Challenge division and finished this three stages race with an overall time of 07:20.29. He took the win ahead of CP van Wyk who completed the race with a time of 07:22.52. The third step on the podium was taken up by Keagan Bontekoning with an overall time of 07:24.42. Andreas Kuhn

secured the fourth place for the Insect Science team and completed the race in a time of 07:25.49. On the first day the riders faced a challenging route of 65km with 1550m of vertical ascent making it a tough outing for the first day’s stage. The ‘Queen Stage’ on the second day’s stage was a proper mountain route of 76km and a 2000m ascent. A short but tough Time Trial stage awaited the riders on the third day’s stage with a 37km route with a 1000m ascent. In the end van Wyk finished this stage in second place, Bontekoning in third place with Gordon posting the fourth fastest time of the day. This performance cemented the first four places for the Insect Science Team. This performance also meant that the Insect Science team had done what they set out to achieve, and that was to finish first, second and third overall at the 2020 Sabie Xperience. The Insect Science will be prepping them for the next challenge, which is the Sani2C that will take place from the 3rd until the 5th of December.
