still adding the finishing touches at the site and currently there are construction vehicles and workers moving along the road surface. We still need to finish the road markings and signs and have therefore placed point’s men on either side of the restored section to warn motorists to slow down as they approach.” Matji also confirmed that there is another project in the pipeline for the coming year to fix other sections of concern along the R528. “We have identified potentially problematic areas along the route that will need attention and it is in our plan to conduct maintenance and repairs across the whole road.” — Joe Dreyer joe@bulletin.us.com

Eight months after the collapse of a massive sinkhole on the R528 through Georges Valley, the road is once again open to the public. Bulletin first reported on the dangers of the sinkhole, a month before it eventually collapsed in March this year. The video of the collapse went viral over social media and sparked an outcry for local government to step in.
