Malema accuses ZZ2 with ANC ties ■
Joe Dreyer and Jan Mafetsa
The over-eager leader of the EFF has once again made some bizarre public statements during his recent address to his followers at the Nkowankowa stadium on Sunday. As is usually the case whenever a political party makes the rounds in the impoverished communities, the stadium was filled to capacity by the hopeful voting public. It is reported that many of the attendees were upset over the promise of free beverages to every attendee that never came to fruition. During his address Malema said that after the elections, his party intend to go to the ZZ2 farms in Mopani and take the tomatoes that belong to the people of the region. He went as far as claiming that ZZ2 had captured all the leaders of the ruling ANC including Limpopo premier, Stan Mathabatha. “Here in Mopani there is an old man who speaks Sepedi and sometimes Xitsonga. He is called ZZ2. He owns more land than all the people of Mopani combined,” Malema said. “Here in Limpopo we are supposed to be producing tomato sauce at the backrooms of our yards because were blessed with a fertile land. ZZ2 takes the tomatoes produced here, to other places where jobs are created and then return them to us at high prices.” Inexplicably he allegedly continued the tomato- and related products rhetoric for close on half an hour, during which he made some very harsh allegations aimed at some of the top leaders in the ruling ANC. “Many of our people do not know that tomato sauce is made from the tomatoes from ZZ2. He is handling all the politicians in Limpopo, starting with the uneducated Penny Penny. He is handling all the politicians from Joshua Matlou to Stan Mathabatha. And the likes of Dodo Mushwana who do not know where they stand are handled by ZZ2. Let us go and work so that we could take the tomatoes and the farms and create jobs for our people,” he said.
“If you do not understand how state capture operates, investigate the relationships ZZ2 is having with leaders of the ANC. There is a citrus farm in Zebediela which is the biggest in the world but in Limpopo we do not have a factory to process juice and instead juice is made outside the province and sold to us at high prices.” These very harsh words caused some retaliation from Eric Nkovani (popularly known as Penny Penny) who said that Malema should not involve him in his political campaign tricks. Nkovani worked for ZZ2 between 1968 and 1979 and told Capricorn Fm that he will always be friends with the owners of the tomato producer, the Van Zyl’s. In March of 2014 a member of the EFF made an online post on the MyNews24 website “EFF must protect and give more land to farmers like ZZ2”. In this post the author, Collen Matsheke, argued that “EFF will protect farmers like ZZ2, which respect and [are] devoted to its employees.” Bulletin contacted Tommie van Zyl, CEO of ZZ2, for comment on the utterances made the EFF leader. Van Zyl said that ZZ2 has always been a part of the community and through various community empowerment projects have strived to uplift the
local communities. “It is the democratic right of anyone to express their views on any issue and views differ from person to person. We do not want to involve ourselves in politics and we certainly are not linked, supported by or funded by any political party. The claims and statements made over the weekend should be viewed as part of the current political rhetoric. We produce food for our countrymen and we strive to do so to the best of our capabilities and at the lowest prices,” he said. “We are not going to speak ill of anyone, including Mr Malema. As stated, it is his right to air his views and opinions. Blame shifting and bad mouthing one another is by no means the way forward in promoting a healthier economy and a better South Africa. We should all start uniting and working together to foster honourable business ties in order to grow a better future. As ZZ2, we currently employ a little over 10 000 seasonal and permanent staff at our operations. We continue to create jobs and feed our country and our positive growth of 10% per annum is indicative of the support we receive from the majority of our fellow South Africans.”
EFF plans to take Phalaborwa mines ■

Julius Malema continued with another shocking statement at the Nkowankowa stadium rally on Sunday. After claiming that he would take over the operations of agricultural giant, ZZ2 in Mooketsi, he set his sights on the mining town of Phalaborwa. According to him the EFF would take command of the Ba-Phalaborwa municipality and take over power from the ruling ANC government, or the “elites” as he labelled them, after the 8th of May national elections. He said that the mines of Phalaborwa belong to the communities around Phalaborwa, and they should be returned to the communities. “The mines in Phalaborwa should benefit the people of Phalaborwa and not Pule Mabe because they are members of the ANC. The people of Phalaborwa are without jobs but they have mines

around them. When you enter the townships there are factories which local people were working and had to go to lunch at home and return back to their work. But today they are closed.” “We want to open factories at Giyani, Nkowankowa and Phalaborwa and create jobs for the people. The factories had since closed and if they are still working they are managed by the friends of the politicians of the ANC. We will build bigger houses which have rooms for the children and bathrooms because to own a flushing toilet is not a luxury but a basic necessity,” stated Malema. The claims by the EFF leader on the confiscation of mines in Phalaborwa came at the time communities in the area had lodged land claims on the land the mines are operating on. It comes amid complaints from residents in the vicinity that dust extracted from the mines is causing damage to
homes and to the health of the residents in the area. At Nkowankowa there is a project by the provincial government spearheaded by the local municipality to revive the factories at the old Nkowankowa industrial hub which Malema said that if opened, they would be operated by “the friends of the ANC”. The whole industrial area had been fenced and water meters were installed by the GTM on Monday. The factories are due to be reopened soon. Residents of Nkowankowa who were not members of the EFF were disappointed that the promised catering to attendees was not fulfilled and after the rally members were just entertained with music from a Mopani-based Xitsonga singer, Benny Mayengani, who is said to be a member of the EFF.

Emergency at dam temporarily contained
Armed robbers hit Magoebaskloof Hotel
■ Joe Dreyer
■ Joe Dreyer
The emergency situation at the Ebenezer dam is under control. Though the cause of the emergency is still being remedied. A team of seven specialist divers from Durban spent Easter weekend in the water attempting to first find and then solve a hydraulic failure on one of the two outlet sluices at the dam after a valve malfunctioned causing the affected gate to employ it’s emergency failsafe. This led to only one of the gates operating at full capacity. The divers arrived from Durban at the Ebenezer dam on Wednesday evening and were in the water the following day to assess the severity of the situation. Their job was complicated by outdated information from the department of water affairs and by three meters of silt which severely impacted
their visibility. Once the defective hydraulic valve cylinder was finally detected, the diving team spent the remainder of the weekend removing the part from the sluice. This defective hydraulic cylinder has been sent to an engineering works and the divers have returned to Durban. The team will be recalled to Ebenezer once a new part has arrived, which they will then be tasked with installing. Contrary to misleading media reports in a local newspaper, it is not true that no water was released from the Ebenezer dam. There are two sluice gates, or release valves, one is meant for water to the Lepelle Northern Water plant and the other is a release for water into the Letaba River which feeds into the Tzaneen Dam. The defective hydraulic cylinder was removed from the
emergency valve which feeds into the river. This gate has now been fixed into an open position pending the repairs to the defective valve. Water supply has been restored to full capacity. The Ebenezer dam supplies water to Polokwane as well as to the Letaba River which feeds Tzaneen. Shockingly, when we spoke to the national spokesperson for the Department of Water and Sanitation, Sputnik Ratau, we were told that the work at the dam had to be stopped because of protest action at the Olifants water purification plant. Ratau claimed that the diving team were unable to work in safe conditions and that they would return to the site once the protests had subsided. His comment has been proven incorrect. Bulletin will keep you updated on the progression of this maintenance project.
The Magoebaskloof Hotel was robbed by a group of armed robbers in the early hours of Tuesday morning. At the time of the incident the twelve guests in the Hotel were sound asleep and completely unaware of what was transpiring outside their bedroom doors. Four suspects entered the hotel at the usual entrance just after 12:00 the morning. The guard at the gate was told that they want to book a room. The suspects were traveling in a BMW with NC number plates. Arriving at reception the suspects entered the foyer and inquired about pricing and room availability at the reception desk. Shortly afterwards, they left and at the exit told the guard that the rooms were too expensive and they would be seeking accommodation elsewhere. After exiting the premises the vehicle made a U-turn on the R71 and approached the main entrance again. When the guard approached the vehicle again, one of the suspects exited the vehicle and hit the guard over the head with a firearm. They tied up the guard and then entered the premises again. The suspects entered the reception and assaulted the male receptionist, tied him up
3
and proceeded to steal laptops and other valuables including cell phones and a small amount of cash. One of the suspects waited in the guardroom. When a patrol guard returned from doing his rounds, the suspect hit him over the head and knocked him to the ground as he entered the room. The guard was tied up also. A third guard later returned from his patrols and found the two guards tied up in the guard house. The suspects had already fled the scene. He alerted his control room and within minutes the Haenertsburg police, Tzaneen police, Canine Security, Haenertsburg Security groups and a team in Polokwane were dispatched. The wounded guard and receptionist were rushed to hospital and discharged later that morning after receiving stitches. Both received trauma counselling. The search for the suspects is still ongoing. Management of the hotel have declined to comment as the Orion Group Head Office will be releasing an official statement. At the time of going to print the investigations were still continuing and the suspects had not been apprehended. Polokwane police have assisted in the matter as the suspects fled in the direction of the capital after the incident.

Jeff Jackson
Three suspected poachers were arrested in the Lephalale area over the weekend after a tip off by community members led police to their whereabouts. In their possession the police’s Stock Theft Unit found unlicensed firearms and several rounds of live ammunition. They were aged 33, 46 and 47 and will appear in court this week. In the same policing area the police arrested the three occupants of a suspicious black BMW X5 vehicle heading in the direction of Lephalale. The police acted on information received from community members and successfully cornered the vehicle at a shopping mall in Marapong. A search was conducted an inside the vehicle the police discovered a hunting rifle with a silencer and ammunition wrapped in a black plastic bag. Also on the same day this weekend, in the Tom Burke policing area five suspects were arrested after they were hunted down by a specialist police unit. The suspects aged between 15 and 25-years old were linked to a series of house robberies in the Sefihlogo village. During the arrest the police recovered an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition along with other stolen goods. All of these suspects will appear in court this week. Police are still investigating each of the incidents for further information and possible links to other crimes in the area.

A 38-year old woman was arrested Beitbridge border post this week whilst attempting to smuggle explosives into the country. According to the police, the bus that the woman was travelling in had just crossed the border into South Africa when it was directed to the search bay. During the search of the bus and its luggage haul, the police discovered 200 units of Superpower 90 Blasting cartridges wrapped in plastic bags inside the woman’s luggage. The origin or destination of the explosives had not been determined at the time of going to print, but police investigations are continuing. The suspect will appear in the Mussina Magistrate’s court this week on a charge of possession of illegal explosives.
Police arrest 170 ■
More poachers cuffed in Lulekani ■
Jeff Jackson
The police in Lulekani outside Phalaborwa believe that they have cracked another poaching syndicate after the arrest of three suspects over the weekend. The suspects were between the ages of 30 and 43-years old. The arrest was conducted by a joint task team consisting of members from the Tactical Response Team and the provincial Task Team. The team was following up on information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects which they had been looking for over a period of some months. The suspects were found at Matiko-Xikaya village outside Phalaborwa where they had been hiding out. In their possession the police found an R5 rifle with a silencer, ammunition, an axe and bakkie. These suspects were arrested on the spot and will appear in the Phalaborwa Magistrate’s court soon. In another incident, the Makhado Police managed to recover a hijacked vehicle after receiving a tip-off from members of the community. Members from the station assisted with the Cluster Response Team followed up on information about an unknown number of suspects planning to commit business robberies in the Nzhelele area. The police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the report and gave chase until the vehicle was found abandoned in the Makushu area. The suspects had already fled. Police searched the vehicle and recovered two firearms. This follows an incident that occurred on the 27th of April at about 20:30, the driver of this vehicle was attacked by four suspects at gun point who were driving in a Ford Fiesta along the N1 highway and hijacked his vehicle. The suspects then took the direction of Madombidzha. Police investigations into this matter are continuing and a breakthrough is expected shortly. The arrested suspects will appear in various magistrate’s court in this week.
Jeff Jackson
The police in Limpopo have successfully arrested a total of 170 suspects during various operations the last week. All the suspects are between the ages of 23 and 60-years old. The operations were manned through road blocks, stop and searches, raiding of unlicensed businesses and tracing of wanted suspects. All the arrested suspects are facing charges varying from murder, illegal hunting, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition to burglary at residential premises, theft out of motor vehicle, assault GBH, fraud, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of suspected stolen properties, possession of house breaking equipment and public violence. Other charges includes indecent behaviour, assault common, theft, illegal Immigration Act, RTA, drinking in public and possession of dagga. The suspects were arrested around Giyani, Tom Burke, Lephalale, Lulekani and Louis Trichardt areas and will appear in those Magistrate’s court in due course. SAPS Provincial Commissioner in Limpopo, Lt Gnl Nneke Ledwaba hailed the exceptional service rendered by the operational members during various operations that were conducted across the province over the past week.
Jeff Jackson
As part of ongoing investigations of serious cases in the Thohoyandou Cluster, the Police in Limpopo are once more offering a reward of up to two hundred and fifty thousand Rand (R250 000) for any valuable information that can lead to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the suspects responsible for the murder of another taxi owner at Manini village outside Thohoyandou. It is alleged that a 49-year old man, Tshishonga Peter Nthabelene, a taxi owner and the Secretary of the Long Taxi Association in Vhembe, was shot and killed by three unknown suspects on the 9th of August 2018. The deceased was shot whilst in the company of his friends at a car wash at Manini village. This reward follows three other rewards of up to two hundred and fifty thousand Rand (R250 000) which were recently issued for each of the murders that were committed in the same Policing Cluster. The amount is calculated up to one million (R1 000 000) for any information that can lead to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the suspects responsible for these serious crimes. Anyone with information that can help the Police to arrest the suspects involved in this and the other three murders, may contact Brigadier James Espach at 082 576 0744 or the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or the Crime Line SMS 32211. The information received, will always be under high confidentiality.
Government taxi? ■
Joe Dreyer
An employee of the Limpopo Economic Development and Tourism Department (LEDET) has allegedly been using his official government vehicle for personal gain as a taxi and deliveries vehicle. The driver of the vehicle is known in the area for using the vehicle after hours and over weekends to transport people and their belongings between Tzaneen and Ramotshinyadi village in the Bolobedu area. A local who requested anonymity, told Bulletin that she has used the services of this government employee before and that during the trip he allegedly informed her that he was the brother of a high ranking politician – believed to be the MEC for Transport. We have not been able to verify this at the time of going to print however. It has been reported that the vehicle in question has been spotted regularly at the popular betting house in Tzaneen CBD and that the vehicle frequents this gambling house regularly during office hours. Bulletin has tried to contact the spokesperson for the department, but we were unable to do so at the time of going to print and management and employees of the local office are not permitted to speak to the media. We will follow up on this alleged misuse of state resources and report on the matter in our next edition.

Great time had by all at festival ■ Bulletin The Food, Wine and Beer Festival was held in Haenertsburg this past weekend. Stalls were under a huge marquee and displayed everything from African jeweller to modern jewellery, clothing, knick knacks, leather items and plants. There was, of course, a plethora of food, wine, gin and beer stands. The weather always plays a major role in these festivals and Sunday morning broke with rain and mist. However, all was well when the weather cleared by 11:00, the sun came out and it turned into a lovely sunny Sunday. Security was tight, the car guards at the open parking lot were efficient and friendly and the drone buzzed away over the festival area. Security guards helped sprinkle sawdust over all the electric cables to stop people tripping and to protect the cables. There was live music throughout the weekend. Some 15 collectors’ cars spotlessly sparkled and gleamed in the sunlight in the open grassy area. Owners stood proudly next to their cars and some had spent years restoring their vehicles. Local Martin Glodek chatted about his red 1964 Triumph Spitfire. He said, “It’s taken me three years to restore my Triumph Spitfire to this state. I started from scratch. There are still some minor details that I have to address like lining up the doors properly.” John Hillary from Polokwane had this to say about his 1967 MK2 Cortina, “It took me two years to restore my car and it’s made the trip from Polokwane to George in the western Cape
four times.” Esther Humphries and Mona Runkel manned the wine glass stall. Festival goers paid R30 for a branded sand-blasted wine glass that they got to keep as they tasted the various estate fine wines. The Iron Crown Pub & Bistro produced 36 litres of delicious homemade tomato juice to go with the Bloody Mary’s and the fresh oysters. Besides the traditional vodka for the Bloody Mary’s, the pub also offered an alternative alcohol, Crystal gin from the Old PackHouse Distillery. Young cousins Ella van Rensburg and Noah Stewart sold shelled macadamias to the public. They proudly stood and plied their nuts next to Noah’s mother who was manning one of the wine stalls. Local Beth Render was knitting for the local Appel School. She also sold hand drawn greeting cards and material shopping bags promoting Haenertsburg. Yolande Wepener from White River has been selling her stainless steel jewellery for the past five years. Her husband did piercings behind her stall, in a little caravan, under sterile conditions. Hannelie Wall from Tzaneen showcased her hand crocheted lampshades. Each lampshade, made from crochet cotton, took two weeks to make. The crocheted lampshade was then glued with a resin so that
the lampshades can be scrubbed and washed. Dave Protter from Response and Rescue in Tzaneen was available the entire weekend. A wound on the hand of the elderly stall holders split open. Louise Claassen from security had Dave called over the microphone and he hastened to attend with his medical kit. He cleaned the wound and then put on a plaster. On the Sunday he came again to check up, took off the old plaster, treated the wound and renewed the plaster. A young tourist, named Juliette, sprained her ankle. Dave was summoned and came over immediately with his medical kit. He gave Juliette medication for the pain, medication to reduce the swelling and lent her a crutch. The most over the top festival goer was Alexandra Steyn with her 24 tattoos. She’s had most of them done at Fine Madness in Pretoria. It’s taken her four years so far and she’s not yet finished with tattoos on her body.

“I’ve been living here since 1964 when I came to Tzaneen from Louis Trichardt in search of work. Back then this was a hostel which the previous government built for us migrant workers. We lived here away from our families. After 1994 those of us that continued to stay here transformed this area into what is now Talana. More families moved in and we converted the old hostel structures into homes. Later others joined and erected shacks. These shacks have burnt down three times in the last six years. The last time, the government told the people to use the blackened corrugated iron sheeting left in the aftermath of the blaze, to rebuild their shacks,” – Talana resident. When one looks at these images, one is left wondering what happened to the “we will build houses for all the impoverished” promises made before the last election. What will happen to the same promises made before next week’s elections?

Fidelity ADT partner with Agri SA for safer farms ■ AgriBulletin
able to other Agri SA members such as its corporate members. “Providing affordable yet beneficial safety solutions for the vulnerable farming- and rural communities through Agri SA is critically important,” says Wahl Bartmann, CEO of Fidelity Services Group, the leading integrated security solutions provider in Southern Africa. “We will be able to offer a centralised information hub to predict and assist with crime investigations and arrests. We will also be working closely with the various Farm Watches, local security companies and farmer associations to help upskill them and empower them with valuable security insights around areas like citizen’s arrests, reporting of suspicious behaviour, land grabbing, industrial unrest, stock theft, training in various safety aspects and the like. This is a very topical issue impacting farmers in the area.” The partnership represents an opportunity for a single point of entry to agricultural businesses and local security companies for secure security products and services at a more affordable and sustainable pricing structure. Fidelity ADT will be providing Integrated systems – from intrusion systems, to RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tagging, CCTV – ranging from Thermal, optic, both IP and Analogue, LPR and ANPR cameras, Fire Solutions, access control, monitoring services, control room facilities and guarding, which can be integrated to provide a complete and tailored managed Risk Solution . “Ultimately we believe that the partnership will go a long way in providing a safe and secure rural environment to support food security, social and economic development and to respond to the safety and security needs of rural communities, which are also the aim of the Rural Safety Strategy as developed by the police with the assistance with Agri SA,” concludes Esterhuyse. The partnership came to effect on the 1st of February 2019 and is currently being rolled out to the provincial organisations of Agri SA, such as Agri Northern Cape and Free State Agriculture. The agreement between the two organisations was signed in Centurion.
Agri SA has partnered with Fidelity ADT, a subsidiary of the Fidelity Services Group, to offer a range of services and products to its members and the rural community in an attempt to curb the unacceptably high number of farm attacks and related agricultural crime. According to Agri SA, farm attacks in 2017/2018 had increased to concerning levels while reported stock theft cases also grew by a further 7,2 %. 7 out of 10 farming units experienced one or other form of crime and 37,2% of farmers experienced theft of infrastructure. A total overall agricultural crime related cost of R7, 7 billion shows that the farming community in South Africa are repeated victims of various crimes. The seriousness of these acts of violence against the farming community has led Agri SA to investigate opportunities to urgently improve safety in the farming community. “Farm safety is much bigger than a single organisation, a community or even structures of authority,” says Tommie Esterhuyse, Chairperson of Agri SA’s Centre of Excellence: Rural Safety. “The reality is that violent crime in our rural farming areas shocks not only the community, but also has a negative impact on food production, national stability and the economy of the country. Therefore, the safety of the farming community remains one of the challenges that farmers across South Africa must deal with.” This partnership provides an exciting opportunity for Fidelity ADT, leveraging off the vast support structure of the Fidelity Services Group, to bring a wealth of diversified experience and security knowledge to Agri SA and rural customers by delivering a far more integrated and robust security and safety offering to farmers. Sakata Saladette Tamaties ■
AgriBulletin

Water after 24 years Fallen Mopani Councillor remembered ■ Jan Mafetsa Residents of 24 villages in the vicinity of the Muhlava Traditional Authority would have their water woes of more than a quarter of a century be a thing of the past. This after the district municipality launched a project to supply them with water last week. The event was attended by the Executive Mayor of the Mopani District Municipality, Nkakareng Rakgoale, and the director for Technical Services in Mopani, Paradise Shilowa. Municipal spokesperson Witness Tiva said, “The area had been without water for 24 years due to illegal connections on the main bulk water pipeline. The executive mayor, Nkakareng Rakgaoale intervened to ensure the electrification of the newly built booster pump which has a capacity of pumping about one million litres of water per day which started working on the 19th of April this year.” “The booster pump will assist in supplying water to the villages of ward 25 and taking water to as far places such as Sedan, Mafarana,
Mulati and the other areas. The director for technical services, Paradise Shilowa, said technicians will remain on the ground to ensure that all the stand pipes and pipelines that were vandalised are fixed to stop the water leaks.” Tiva also stated that Shilowa promised residents that their dedicated teams of technicians are working hard and tirelessly to ensure that there is an adequate supply of water within the district municipal areas. He said the areas that would benefit from the project are Muhlava, Sasekane, and Petanenge while at Zangoma and the other areas they are working hard to ensure that they would get the water. In closing, Tiva said that the communities were happy that their prayers had been answered as the people now have water to the areas where they stay. He added that some residents had expressed hope because though they would not receive water immediately, they are happy that they are promised that in the long run people would be having water in their homes at last.
■ Jan Mafetsa The ordinary sitting of the council of the Mopani District Municipality (MDM) took place at the Disaster Centre on the South-Western side of Tzaneen on Tuesday afternoon. Among the issues de-
liberated were the death of a councillor formerly employed at the MDM where a moment of silence was observed during the proceedings which were underway by the time of going to the press. Municipal spokesperson, Wit-
ness Tiva, said in an statement that the ordinary sitting of the council is underway at the disaster centre. “The council has observed a moment of silence in honour of the late councillor Foster Manyama who passed away last Sunday. The speaker of
the council, Councillor Wireless Sedibeng, said the council was saddened by the loss of councillor Manyama and thus sends condolences to the family.” At the time of going to print the cause of death had not been made public.
More electoral promises by EFF leader ■ Jan Mafetsa
dela is asleep. He had seen that we are here and said we should continue to better the lives of people,” he said to a packed stadium. “You should, together with the other people on the grand stand, refrain from loving T-shirts more than the future of your children. When they give you T-shirts you should not refuse them and instead you should use them to scrub the floors. We have the sisters of Cassel Mathale here who are members of the EFF and when Mathale gives you T-shirts you should use
Continuing with his address at the Nkowankowa stadium on Sunday, EFF leader Julius Malema promised to increase the social grants by double including the child support grant while pensioners were to receive R3 600. “To pensioners, those who could walk but could not write when they get into voting stations and asked who they want in power, they should say that they want a boy. The old man is no longer there. Man-
them to scrub the floors as he would not see you, for he would be in Pretoria.” Finally he appealed to the youth not to drink on pre-election day and instead they should wake up sober on Election Day. “Youths should, on the day before the elections not drink so they would wake up the following day sober. They should, when they return from voting, buy themselves a cold drink and sit under a tree and when a neighbour asks what the smiles are for they should say “Freedom is coming tomorrow.”

Big day for little feet
Photos by Vicky Lombard
Tzaneen Primary School’s annual “Young Bulls” and “Mini Netball” day was held on Saturday, April 27th. Participating schools were Laerskool Pietersburg Oos, Laerskool Pietersburg, Laerskool Phalaborwa Noord, Laerskool Louis Trichardt, Laerskool Duiwelskloof and Erica Pre-Primary School also from Pietersburg. A total of 49 mini netball- and 79 rugby matches were played. The quality of the games and the skills on display by some of the players both on the netball and rugby fields showcased a bright future for primary school sports of the future. Because the games are always in the spirit of fun and serve as talent exhibitions, there were no scores on the day.
