Voting at Thusanang was steady, relaxed and peaceful. Some 100 voters had marked their crosses by 09:00. The same atmosphere pervaded at the Haenertsburg Village Hall where there was a steady stream of voters all morning. In Tzaneen the voting station at the Catholic church saw 748 voters by 10:15 on Wednesday morning with the average waiting time in the queue being five or six minutes. The atmosphere at the station was a vibrant one with both the ANC and the DA delegates sharing a space near the entrance to the grounds assisting voters making their way to the hall.

ANC wins Lesedi Ballot paper box cluster votes thrower suspended ■

Preliminary special vote counting at the Lesedi cluster of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality which included the Khujwana and Lenyenye areas, put the ANC in the lead with the DA and the EFF following in second and third place.

This was attributed to the fact that most special voters were recruited by councillors who are in charge of village politics.

This comes amid complaints at Khujwana where a voting station had to be moved to a church of which the ward councillor and his spouse (employed by the IEC) were members.

By close of voting stations on Tuesday the atmosphere was one of jubilation after preliminary counting of special votes before submitted to the sub regional operational centre, had it that the ANC was leading with the votes. At the Khujwana combined school voting stations celebrations began immediately after closing.

According to party agents, the leading in votes by the ruling party was hastened by the fact most voters were old people, loyal to the ANC, and government employees which included police officers and nursing staff who

would be working on Election Day. The other reason was due to the fact that special voters were registered by councillors who targeted people who they were sure were going to vote for them.

By Wednesday morning there were no incidences of violating the electoral laws through campaigns beyond the cut-off time of 24 hours before the elections.

Though the vehicles of councillors were cleared of election posters pasted during the motorcades in villages, those of ANC office bearers were not cleared and still seen at the voting stations.

On Monday the nation woke up to the news that a following a poll done by the Institute for Race Relations (IRR) on the 4th of May, the ANC will not achieve more than 55% nationally. The poll further stated that there will be a hung parliament in Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal provinces where the DA will increase the toll to 20-23 % while the EFF will get 14% and the ANC will get 53% in both provinces.

The final results of yesterday’s voting would start to be released by tomorrow (Friday) at the earliest. Amid the Election Day process, Julius Malema was nowhere to be seen as he was burying his grandmother who passed away last week.

Motorists travelling on the R36 near the Broederstroomdrift outside Tzaneen were surprised to find several ballot boxes still sealed, scattered on the side of the road.

Though some motorists had to stop to have a closer look, not one member of the public took initiative to pick up the boxes and take them to the nearest police station.

One man opted to film the boxes on the side of the road and post it over social media instead.

A witness said that he could not believe his eyes when he returned to the scene two days later to find the boxes still there.

The spokesperson for the IEC, Nkaro Mateta, said the official who was transporting the ballot boxes had since been suspended and he was not permitted to take part in the elections this year.

This was the first incident in Tzaneen, while in some areas people are used to these kind of things. The IEC Chairperson, Moss Mashishi, confirmed that the matter had reached his offices and it is still been investigated.

Mashishi said since the incident happened two days prior to the start of the special votes, the boxes could still have been delivered to voting stations.

Mashishi also said that he had referred the matter to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Sy Mamabolo to

attend to. The same with the issue of workers who were threatening to down tools on the day of the elections because of salaries and amenities with which to perform their duties on election day.

The mentioned amenities include vehicles, phones, and computers.

The workers issue was resolved before Election Day. He further said the boxes could have fallen off the truck unbeknown to the driver. But this could have caused an issue if some voting stations were left with too little voting boxes which could have jeopardised the process.

He added the issue of striking on the day of voting was illegal as elections were a serious affair but said the unions would be engaged on the matter.

Labour federation National Health and Allied Workers Union (NEHAWU) said the strike had been called off after the IEC promised to succumb to their needs.

In another incident two people were arrested on Monday after they were found in possession election material which included ballot papers not yet used.

According to CEO Sy Mamabolo a group of men accosted IEC officials while doing home visits at Giyani on Monday.

They confiscated 93 empty provincial ballot papers which were later found with the two suspects after they were arrested.

This is not a time of monsters ■ Joe Dreyer In his opening statement to a handful of delegates, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa quoted the famed Italian philosopher, Antonio Gramsci.

The Marxist philosopher famously said “The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.”

Ramaphosa was in Haenertsburg on Monday morning where he met with 60 selected guests in a very informal discussion session aimed at addressing some of the complaints local business owners and farmers held close to heart. Though the session was not a typical “Q&A” the president requested that a member of the attendees should be elected to raise a few questions on behalf of the collective. Trevor Phillips, Chairperson of the Tzaneen Timber Theft Forum was tasked herewith.

The main concerns that were presented

by Phillips included the hotly debated land expropriation initiative and the uncertainty among land and farm owners surrounding the issue, “will our children be able to continue the farming practices our parents started generations before us, or will they have to make amends elsewhere?”

Other issues raised were education, crime and better cooperation between government and the people of South Africa to ensure that local government (municipalities) be held accountable for corruption and service delivery failures.

In this country’s case this was done by a smaller portion of the population which was better armed and prepared. It left a deep-seated wound among the majority of the population which was left to fester all these years and this wound will take a very long time to heal, if ever.”

Ramaphosa continued.

“It has to be resolved in order for this wound to be healed. The world has embraced the concept of inclusivity and globally when I go to the world economic forum, everybody talks about shared growth, economic and otherwise. We were able to resolve apartheid by being inclusive. South Africa belongs to all who live in it, in the past we had a government who said that black people do not belong. This is the system that the ANC said must be done away with. Let us seek ways and methods of working together. When it comes to your farming areas, the ANC came up with the Freedom Charter which said that the land will be shared by those who work it.”

He said that the land act of 1913 was seen as a great injustice by the black people. When the Constitution was drafted, we almost spilled over into a civil war because there were areas which could not be agreed upon.

On the land question, the president said that the issue is a very clear demonstration of what happened in this country. “What happened in this country is very important to remember as context.

The ANC was formed after the land was lost to war on the battleground. The various chiefs, kings and leaders of the tribes in the country came together and formed the ANC to fight a different war to regain the land. They decided to fight this war organizationally without violence. This is why the ANC was formed, not to win the vote, but return the land. This was because

According to Ramaphosa it was decided that land will be expropriated without compensation but subject to ensuring that agricultural production and food security in the country is not degraded and the economy does not suffer. He explained also that these are the broad parameters that were set in place and was followed by a national debate.

The issue is now in parliament where a final decision will be made as to whether the constitution needs to be amended or not.

“Everywhere in the world governments have the power to expropriate land in the public interest for example to build a road or a pipeline etc. But in our country because of the history we have had it is happening in a much more interesting way and it revolves around inclusivity. Through this bill, we are now able to look at portions of land, stateowned land which is owned by various enterprises which can now be used for public interest. The land redistribution process is largely going to be for public interest so that the wounds that were inflicted in the past against communities are healed.”

Ramaphosa highlighted that the bill will be passed in parliament and it will focus on various pieces of land, largely state-owned land which has been left derelict and which will now allow for agricultural development. He further assured the attendees that the entire process will be conducted according to the rule of law and the constitution.

“Our constitution is robust and supreme. It protects every member of our society and anyone who feels aggrieved will be able to utilize that law to protect themselves and even win. We should not fear this process, this process is about finding solutions. The reality of the situation that we need to deal with is the coming of the new world as it yields many opportunities for us to be angels.”

The search for the killer of 59-year old Christine Robinson on her game lodge outside Northam in July 2014, is still ongoing. The police in Thabazimbi outside Bela-Bela have issued a statement asking for the suspect to hand himself over to the nearest police station.

The suspect, Andrew Ndlovu was 24-years old at the time of the murder and is believed to be using an alias “Andrea Druza”. Police suspect that because he is a Zimbabwean national, he could be hiding out in the Gauteng province as they have no evidence pointing to the fact that he has returned to his home country.

On the 19th of July in 2014, Ndlovu entered the home of his employer, Robinson and stabbed her multiple times before he raped and then robbed her of an undisclosed amount of money. He fled the scene and is still afoot. Robinson’s body was only discovered the following morning laying in a pool of blood.

The preliminary Police investigations revealed that at some stage, the suspect was using a disguise and calling himself Andrea Druza and that he might be hiding around the Gauteng Province or in other Provinces.

The Police are calling upon Andrew Ndlovu also known as Andrea Druza, as per the attached photo, to go to Northem Police Station or to the nearest Police Station to assist with the investigations in this matter.

Three robbed suspects wanted ■

Three armed suspects robbed a young man and a middle-aged couple of their cell phones at a village outside Polokwane in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The three victims were all teachers and neighbours.

It is reported that the first victim, a young man aged 28-years, was asleep when a noise in his home startled him from his slumber. He proceeded through his house inspecting the origin of the noise and was confronted by three daunting figures who appeared from out the darkness. One of the figures brandished a panga and ordered the man to keep quiet. The other two suspects proceeded to take his wallet, a laptop and two cell phones.

The three mystery men then moved on towards the neighbours’ quarters where a couple aged 53 and 57 were asleep. Their attempts to break down the front door and gain access to the room was thwarted when the husband awoke and he and his wife rushed to the door where they pushed back against the advancing intruders.

Unable to open the door the suspects opened fire and both the man and his wife were seriously wounded. The three figures entered the residence and stole the couple’s cell phones before fleeing in a waiting getaway vehicle. The license plate and description of the vehicle are unknown.

Ironically, the police released a statement which declared that they are hot on the heels of the three perpetrators despite them not having any description of the three suspects, any license plates or description of the getaway vehicle and no idea in which direction they fled.

Women rob man after drinks ■

A night of debauchery has resulted in the Limpopo police launching a manhunt for two women suspected of stealing a Ford Ranger.

According to the police, a 54-year old man was attending a business meeting at a lodge in Polokwane when he met and started socialising with two women he had met at the venue. After some time he invited the two women to accompany him to another lodge for the night.

The following morning the man awoke to find himself alone in the room. The room had been locked from the outside and his car keys were missing. The man shouted for help and workers at the lodge freed him from the room. Once outside, he discovered that his charcoal coloured Ford Ranger was missing. His two female companions had also vanished without a trace.

Local police were summoned to the scene and preliminary investigations showed that the man may have been drugged. Subsequently, a manhunt has been launched for the two suspects.

This is the second incident reported in the province’s capital. In February this year a 44-year old man was booked into overnight accommodation in Polokwane where he met and started socialising with a woman. The woman accompanied the man to his room where it is understood that the pair shared a drink and some banter together.

It is suspected that the drink may have been spiked as the man awoke the following morning, alone with his keys, cell phone and vehicle missing.

The Police are appealing to anyone with information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspects involved in both incidents to contact Col Moruti Mothoa on 082 451 7184 or the crime stop number 0860010111 or the Crime Line SMS 32211 or their nearest Police Station.

Members of the Community, especially men are warned against falling prey to this type of crime and should always put their safety first when engaging with strangers.

Ballots destroyed ■

Two men accosted IEC officials and destroyed unused ballot papers on Monday morning in Giyani.

According to reports the IEC officials had travelled to the village of Guwela where they were assisting the elderly in casting their special votes for the National Election which occurred yesterday.

As the officials were about to enter a homestead in the village, they were approached by two men who prevented them from conducting their duties and proceeded to destroy a number of the unused ballot papers they had in their possession. The men were aged 30 and 35-years old and were later arrested by provincial joint operations officers for malicious damage to property and contravention of the Electoral Act. Both men will appear in the Giyani Magistrate’s court soon. Nobody was injured in the incident.

The ProvJOINTS Chairperson, Lt Gnl Nneke Ledwaba has reassured the communities that the police in the province are prepared and well positioned to ensure a safe and secure election.

Politics trump workers

The much anticipated Limpopo 2019 May Day held at the Lenyenye stadium last Saturday turned into a political rally for the African National Congress with speakers from the ruling party allocated more time than affiliates of COSATU. It began with a march starting at the police station to the stadium.

Among the dignitaries was member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor, Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi, Deputy Minister of Small Business, Cassel Mathale, Limpopo Premier, Stan Mathabatha, Limpopo ANC Secretary, Soviet Lekganyane and members of the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC).

All the messages of support from the other members of the Tripartheid Alliance dwelt on workers being asked to support the ANC during the elections by voting for the party. It started with Thulas Nxesi who

was followed by Naledi Pandor before the main speaker for the day, Mogobe Maphila could ascend the stage with the same message that people should vote for the ruling party.

Addressing the newly revamped Lenyenye stadium, keynote speaker for the day and COSATU Central Executive Committee Member, Mogobe Maphila, said it was a concern that the labour federation was disintegrating while it was supposed to be growing. He said that all was well until NUMSA decided to move out of the federation and took with them more than 300 members. He said the members would return after a dispute in the new party led by Ivan Jim. “During the door-to-door campaigns for the ANC, people were asking why are there labour brokers in the work place and E-tolls despite calls that they should be scrapped. We as the labour movement need the issue of the doing away with labour brokers be sped up.

“We have come to bring down this thing called the ANC. This thing called the ANC is a big elephant and if we eat it bit by bit, we will put it down. I thank the regional, national and the provincial leaders for making it possible that we are here today. When coming here I have passed about ten people with yellow t-shirts at a bottle store.

They say they think they can beat the EFF. If they are powerful they should come here and see if they can fill the grand stand.”

These were the words of Julius Malema, in his greetings to thousands of his followers who filled the Nkowankowa stadium to capacity last Sunday. It was during the Mopani leg of his election tirade which was dominated by attacks on ANC leaders and their “white handlers” who were in the past his friends. He stopped short of calling them to join his party.

Malema was referring to an event at the community hall aimed at counteracting his visit. “When we leave, if they come here with Cassel Mathale of the ANC, they will all of them fill the this stage and they will not even fill the grand stand. Cassel knows, I have told him that all

the crowds at Dan village, Nkowankowa and Lenyenye belong to the EFF and there is nothing left for him.”

The red overall-clad Malema continued by saying that those who intend to back the ANC should turn from their ways and join his movement. “So if you are still backing the ANC today, repent because you see the way the region of Mopani has gone. We are not looking backward, forward we go because we are afraid of turning into hills of salt. We want Mopani to have water. The people of Mopani have no water. We want the people of Dzingidzingi to drink clean blue dot water.”

Malema accused Nomvula Mokoyane and other members of the ANC of embezzling the funds that were meant to be used to provide Giyani residents with clean water.

“People need water and we must give our people water.

You should not be told that there is no money. Billions were embezzled. Money was allocated to take water from a dam in Venda to supply the people of Giyani. We want our people to have water in their yards because there is no white person who is getting water on the street. That which the white people do not want, we also do not want. We want to live with more than the whites because they are visitors and we are lawful owners of the land.”

Beer sold at voting station ■ Jan Mafetsa Residents of Talana hostel in the North Eastern side of Tzaneen went to the voting station at the village hall at the hostel, as if their complaints about service delivery earlier this month, were nothing to them. They were joined by residents from the nearby farms and the municipal officials who were delivered to the voting stations with taxis hired by political parties. Beer was sold at the voting station in front of the police.

When this reporter arrived at the voting station on Wednesday morning (yesterday) it was business as usual with leaders of the ANC led by the community leader, Comedown Mathuba, who was serving as election co-ordinator for the ANC. Despite party agents from the EFF watching, people were given ANC t-shirts on the day of voting.

Just few metres from the voting stations there was a table attend to by members of the ANC at which people were checked whether they appear on the voters roll before they were urged to vote for the ruling party. This despite the challenges which this newspaper highlighted in last week’s edition.

A Talana resident who is also an employee of the municipality, told this reporter that though some residents were not happy with the slow delivery of services they resolved to go and vote first and raise their complaints later. Another resident who said he was not voting for the ruling party said that people were not willing to vote for the ANC until they were promised free food and booze.

Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo said that the main priority of party agents was to assist with checking the voters roll, they make sure that ink was applied to the voter and later they assist voters with the voters roll and it ends there. He said what the voters do with the voters roll had nothing to do with them as is the work of electoral officers.

He cautioned people taking selfies in the voting stations as it was illegal.

Fitting tribute to five of the finest in Haenertsburg

A poignant memorial was held for the locals who died in a James Turner, Head of CPF, was MC. Maria’s mother said she was proud of her daughter in the local SAPS. She thanked the Haenertsburg community, on behalf of all five families affected, for its support.

The service ended with the choir singing the South African national anthem.

The memorial service programme summed up this loss - You touched the lives of the Haenertsburg community in so many important ways and will be sorely missed by everyone.

Sy het die wedren klaargemaak in ‘n skaflike 1 uur en 45 minute. Volgens Shané was dit ‘n gemaklike rit en haar volgende doelwit is om voor te berei vir die 94.7 Challenge wat plaasvind in November.

Hierdie naweek sal die manne vanuit die Zoutpansberg wéér Tzaneen toe trek. Volgens Bennie Kruger van Letaba Rugbyklub sal die telbord egter ‘n ander storie vertel, “ons skuld hulle een, so hierdie naweek is vergelding vir Letaba op die kaarte.”

‘n Stowwerige affêre op Western Mounted spele ■ Joe Dreyer Die afgelope naweek het Dusty Hill die derde kwalifiseerende rondte van die Limpopo Western Mounted Games aangebied. In ‘n jaar is daar ses kwalifiseerende rondtes wat ruiters die kans gee om te kwalifiseer vir die nasionale kampioenskappe wat in September in Parys in die Vrystaat gehou sal word.

Die Suid-Afrikaanse Western Mounted Games Vereniging (SAWMG) is die oorsienende liggaam vir die sport en al die plaaslike klubs word verwag om aan te sluit by hierdie beheerliggaam. Hulle reëls en regulasies word ook streng toegepas. Om ‘n lys van hierdie reëls en regulasies

Die rugbyseisoen het die afgelope naweek in die Buffelkraal op Tzaneen afgeskop toe Ben Vorster se rugbymanne die spanne van Montana in die eerste rondte van die Virseker Beker Plaat Afdeling ontmoet het.

Na verlede jaar se uitmuntende vertoning om in die finaal van die Virseker Beker te eindig, het Ben Vorster aan die skolerugbywêreld bewys dat hulle oor die vermoë besit om in ‘n hoër afdeling deelteneem. Dus speel die Rooies vanjaar in die Afdeling 1 Plaat divisie en kom hulle teen groter en sterker rugbyskole te staan. Vanjaar se indeling sluit Nelspruit, Zwartkop, Montana, Marais Viljoen, Kempton Parken, Rustenburg en Eldoraigne in.

Saterdag se wedstryde was hard. Ben Vorster se O/14Aen B-spanne het teen die Monties vasgeval met tellings van 15-33 en 0-44 onderskeidelik terwyl die O/15A-span daarin geslaag het om ‘n 16-14 oorwinning aan te teken as troos vir die O/15B’s se 7-21 nederlaag.

Die O/16A-spanne se wedstryd was fisies ‘n baie moelike kragmeting met die twee spanne wat baie gelykop gemeet is. Die Vossies het ‘n naelskraap 32-30 oorwinning aangeteken. Die plaaslike Tweedespan het ‘n pragtige 29-12 oorwinning teen die telbord gehang.

Die pawiljoene het bankvas gesit met toeskouers wat die genadelose son aangedurf het in afwagting van die groot wedstryd van die dag. Die Eerstespanne het opgedraf en beide skole se manne het slaggereed mekaar in die oë gekyk met die afskop.

Montana, beroemd vir hul harde hardloop rugby, het nie op hulle laat wag nie en binne die eerste ses minute het hul oor die lyn geseil vir die wedstryd se openings-drie. Hul loskakel kon egter nie die drie verdoel nie en die telling het op 0-5 bly staan. Ben Vorster het dadelik teruggeslaan en drie minute later ‘n drie van hul eie in die hoek gaan druk. Hierdie spogdrie is twee minute later gevolg deur nog een, ook in die hoek, wat hierdie keer verdoel is om die Vossies ‘n 12-5 voorsprong te gee.

Montana antwoord vyf en

‘n half minute later met hul tweede drie wat hierdie keer suksesvol deur die pale gestuur is om die telling 12-elk gelykop gelos het vir nog vyf minute voor Montana wéér die voortou neem met ‘n drie reg onder die pale. Hierdie keer word hy verdoel en die telling is 12-19 ten gunste van die besoekers.

So het die wedstryd vir die res van die eerstehelfte en die volle tweede helfte beloop tot Montana in die doodsnikke van die wedstryd ‘n drie steel om aan hulle ‘n 42-43 oorwinning en ‘n goeie begin aan hul Virseker Beker segetog te gee.

Ben Vorster sal met hul volgende kragmeting op Saterdag die 11de Mei teen Eldoraigne die veld opdraf met hul stêr binnesenter, Christiaan Smit op sy plek in die agterlyn nadat hy weke lank as gevolg van ‘n besering nie kon speel nie. Die wedstryd teen Eldoraigne beloof om skolerugby uit die boonste rugby op te dis en sal oor Digitv uitgesaai word vir die wat graag die wedstryde sou wou kyk.

Mixed week for Badgers ■

In one of the most anticipated clashes of the 2019 hockey season, the mighty Badgers hosted neighbours, Merensky, for a series of league showdowns on the pristine Stanford Lake College pitch. The games were played on the 29th and 30th of April and both schools produced beautiful hockey as expected.

The U/14-girls were up first on Monday with the hosts facing a very driven Merensky team which proved that gutsy plays and good communication are as important a part of the game as the surface upon which it is played. Though Tanatswa Murasiranwa managed two beautiful goals as consolation, Merensky took the match by 8 goals to 2.

The U/14-boys’ team followed next with the Badgers rearing to make an impression in their first official home game. Merensky brought the challenge that was anticipated and the two teams struggled to break through the opposing defense.

Equally matched, neither was prepared to let up until finally the visitors capitalized on a Badger error to score the opening goal and put their hosts on the back foot. Moments before the halftime signal, Merensky snuck another into the back of the box to start the second half two goals up. Stanford fought back to claim a goal of their own through Nsuku Shingwenyana but time killed all hopes of a comeback and the Badgers bowed to a 2-1 defeat.

The U/16-girls teams played their match in four quarters, known as “chukkas”, of fifteen minutes each with a two minute break in between. This is a new format of hockey that was instituted in 2015 to allow for hydration in hotter climates.

Merensky scored early in the second chukka and which seemed to break the seal and open the flood gates to volley of strikes hitting the back of the board. Stanford Lake College fought hard till the end, but could not answer to any of Merensky’s goals, going down 7-0.

Tuesday was the day that every player was waiting for. For the U/16 Boys, this would be their opportunity to get revenge on last year’s results. Both teams took to the field not wanting to give anything away as they battled through the first two chukkas with goal to goal action, both defenses and goal keepers being tested.

Shortly after the half time break, Stanford Lake College would put one in the back of the nets courtesy of Devon Coad. The Badgers would then stamp their dominance over the game with a goal by Warwick Melville at the end of the third chukka. The final chukka was always going to be a challenge as Merensky would not just give the game away, however, the Stanfordians managed to keep them out

and won the game 2-0.

The First teams took the pitch in the evening.

The Girls were up first with the Stanfordians giving away an opening goal to their Merensky mates after the visitors surprised with a beautiful break away. The fairer of the Badgers answered shortly afterwards with a goal by Mokgadi Mangena heralding in an all-squared second chukka. Late in the third chukka Danica Altenroxel stepped up to take a penalty stroke which she snuck past the keeper to give the hosts a 2-1 lead going into the final fifteen minutes.

At the start of the final chukka, Lia Revelas and Kate Wood, aggressively attacked the Merensky box which sealed the game for the Badgers and a Merensky defeat of 4-1.

Ending off the evening was the clash between the two First Boys’ teams. The fact that players on either side were in reality team mates in the club hockey league meant that spectators were in for some spectacular hockey. It would be a goal from Thomas Mayes two minutes before the close of the first chukka that would put the Badgers in the lead.

The second chukka saw Stanford step up the pace with some precise passing moving the ball around the pitch and keeping possession, Lance Trueman would keep his cool in the circle to make it 2-0 to Stanford early in the second chukka.

The third chukka would see Thomas Mayes keeping the Merensky defenders on their toes but he proved to be too much for them and found space for to bury one in the back of the goals and score his second of the night. Both teams fought hard in the last chukka with end to end action, but it would be Stanford Lake College who would end on top with a 3-0 victory.

On Monday this week, Stanford Lake College faced another of their toughest opponents in the local schools league when they met the teams of PHS for a series of away games in Polokwane.

The U/14 Boys played some brilliant hockey with two early goals from Conor Mulligan and Olly Nielsen-Doran in the first half. Both teams tested the keeper many times and Aidan Masawi was brilliant in the goals for the Baby Badgers. PHS came back strong and kept fighting to score two goals and level the score. Just before the half time whistle, Kian Noné would score once again for the Baby Badgers making it 3-2 to Stanford going into second half. With the game tied at 3-all as they entered the bottom of the second half, the pressure proved too much for the visitors who eventually allowed a goal past their keeper to lose the game 3-4 to PHS.

The U/16 Boys game was a tight one for the Stanfordian keeper, Stefan Hacker, who was kept busy in the goals but rose to the occasion making some outstanding saves. Despite his impeccable skills, the relentless PHS attacks finally broke down what was left of the Stanford defense to allow a 0-7 victory to the hosts.

The First XI Boys took to the pitch for the last game of the day. The game was played in good spirit as both teams gave each other a go in the first chukka, with some brilliance from PHS through the midfield putting them in the lead by one. The second chukka would be much of the same with both teams creating chances up front and both defenses making sure they let nothing through, until PHS broke through and scored another making it 0-2 to going into the third chukka. A lapse in concentration from Stanford saw PHS score not long after the whistle making it 0-3, this would prove to be a mountain to climb for the visitors. The fourth chukka saw PHS score another.
