■ Billy Sibuyi A 50-year-old Mozambican national was sentenced to an effective 23-years imprisonment for poaching related offences in the Kruger National Park last week Friday, the 18th of June. The Skukuza Regional Court “Rhino Court” sentenced Alsony Alberto Valoyi after he pled guilty to the charges against him, and was eventually convicted on trespassing in the Kruger National Park, Contravention of Immigration Act, possession of a firearm with intent to commit a crime, possession of a unlicensed firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, and possession of six rhino horns. Valoyi and his co-accused, Siyabonga Freedom Ndlovu, were arrested in May 2016 around the Stolznek Section of KNP by the park’s rangers. The state applied for a separation of trial for his co-accused and the trial is set down for 30th of September 2021 in the same court. According to Monica Nyuswa, Mpumalanga National Prosecution Authority regional spokesperson, Valoyi was sentenced to three years for trespassing, one-year for Contravention of Immigration Act, five years for possession of a firearm with intent to commit a crime, two years for unli-
censed ammunition, one year for possession of a dangerous weapon, and 15 years for possession of six rhino horns. She said that the court ordered the sentence in the second charge against him to run concurrent with the sentence in the first charge, and that the sentence in count four and five were to run concurrently as well, thus an effective sentence of 23 years imprisonment. SANParks has welcomed the sentencing of Valoyi at a time when three more rhino poaching suspects were arrested on separate incidents in the past seven days at the Lower Sabie section of the park. In the same statement, SANParks expressed shock and disbelief at the brazen killing of suspected poaching Kingpin in Hazyview on Thursday, 17 June 2021 in broad daylight. Petros “Mshengu” Mabuza, 57, who was due to face a criminal trial soon in connection with a spate of rhino poaching cases, was sitting in his vehicle next to a shopping complex in Hazyview when a group of armed men opened fire on him. He was hit in the head and rushed to hospital by a group of his cohorts where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was suspected of being behind the assassination of a detective last year.
■ Billy Sibuyi Once again, the Sealene Road leading to the Ba-Phalaborwa Magistrate Court was filled with community henchmen of the BCF ahead of the appearance of the 14 suspects charged with damaging of property at Palabora Copper Mine on the 26th of February this year. The community who filled the streets every other
day when the suspects would appear are there in support of their fellow community members who were arrested during a violent riot which ultimately saw PMC mine lose millions of Rands in infrastructure destroyed by these members. One community member told Bulletin that, for the BCF to put a person on one of their employment lists, they had to attend the court hearings, which is why there were so many in attendance. “One must attend the court case of the 14, and if you don’t then there is no chance for you of employment,

Doen so voort!” het Potgieter oor sosiale media gesê.
you would not be considered,” said the person. The 14 arrested suspects in this matter all previsouly appeared in the Phalaborwa Magistrate’s Court facing charges of trespassing, arson, malicious damage to property, and public violence, respectively on Friday, the 18th of June. At that time, these suspects were out on a bail of R500 with the conditions that they report to their nearest police station every week, do not intimidate witnesses, and that they should not engage in other public violence. The 14 suspects includes the Chairperson of the Business Community Forum (BCF) who appeared in the magistrate court again and their cases were postponed to Friday, the 13th of August 2021, for further police investigations.

Murder suspect out ■ Billy Sibuyi A 17-year-old boy who is accused of having stabbed his 52-year-old uncle to death appeared in the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, the 23rd of June and was granted free bail by the court. The spokesperson of the Acornhoek Police Station, Capt Mpho Nonyana, said that the family did not oppose bail as they felt the suspect posed no danger to them, even though the incident occurred earlier this week on Monday in a village in Casteel just outside of Acornhoek. According to a report from the spokesperson of the Mpumalanga Police, Brig Leonard Mdhuli, the teenager was at home when his911uncle, who lived with him as his 084 4000 guardian 072 98 98 911arrived. “It is said that an argu-
ment broke out between them which ended sadly as the boy allegedly stabbed his uncle in the upper body repeatedly. The matter was reported to the police where, upon their arrival at the scene, found the victim in a pool of blood still bleeding profusely,” stated brig Mdhuli. He said that the medical personnel were summoned, and they certified the victim dead on the scene. “A case of murder was then opened with the police and the suspect was arrested whilst taking into consideration of the fact that he is still a minor. The matter was handled under the guidance of the Probation Officers,” stated the spokesman. The suspect appeared on the 23rd and his case was postponed to Tuesday, 29th of June for further police investigations.
Even though the Hans Merensky Hotel and Spa went under the hammer on the 23rd of February in an online auction by Van’s Auctioneers, under auctioneer Johan van Eyk, it officially remains a mystery who tabled the R24 million that it was reportedly auctioned for. Since being auctioned in February, the public in Phalaborwa have remained in limbo as it is unknown who fronted the R24 million for the hotel and according to Johan van Eyk in conversation with Bulletin three months ago, they would have to wait a little longer as the process was still ongoing. In the meantime, there have been many rumours that the original owner of the hotel, Shamira Rinderknecht herself, bought the hotel back. Consequently, unconfirmed rumours have been doing the rounds that whoever bought the hotel on this auction, attempted to cancel the purchase after the fact. Bulletin has spoken to a group of people involved in a legal action around the matter currently, so that we will have all the information to present, once we are legally permitted to do so. Van Eyk had revealed to Bulletin in March this year that the process of who the new owners were, was ongoing and would be known around May. “Everything is still pending, so I cannot confirm any information at this stage. You can give me a call in a month or two, perhaps then there will be progress that I can share, but at this moment there is nothing I can share with you unfortunately,” he said. Bulletin contacted van Eyk in May and again earlier this week to follow up on the progress of the sale of the hotel, however, van Eyk had no new information to share. He told Bulletin that nothing had changed since he last spoke to us in May. “To be honest I am not so much involved because there are legal issues now that the lawyers are busy dealing with and there is a legal process that I am not part of, so I cannot say,” he stated.

It continues to stink in Sewerage Kloof ■ Roelof de Jonge
Residents from Modjadjiskloof have had it with poor service delivery from the Greater Letaba Municipality (GLM). According to residents residing in the area of the cemetery in Mabel Drive, their pleas for service delivery falls on deaf ears. The cemetery in itself is in a satisfactory condition, but only after the private sector namely ZZ2 Farms stepped in to clean up the graveyard. The entrance on left off Mabel Drive into the cemetery however, is a different scene. Raw sewerage flows across the road into an open field. One resident who lives near the graveyard and who preferred anonymity, said the leaking sewerage has been going on for about a year with no indication from the municipality that the leak might be repaired. According to this homeowner who has been residing in this area for more than 20 years, a contractor was supposed to fix the leaking sewerage pipes about three months ago. The contractor dug up the sidewalk, and that is where it stopped. The resident said since then the community of
Modjadjiskloof, has raised concerns with the GLM to no avail. A sewerage pipe sticks out like a sore thumb on the unfinished sidewalk. “At night when everybody is at home, the sewerage spews out like crazy from the pipe on the unfinished sidewalk and the stench is unbearable. This has caused me to stop inviting guests over. It is a serious health and environmental hazard, and absolutely nothing is being done about it,” he exclaimed. “When we as residents raised our concerns with the GLM, they said it was the responsibility of Mopani District Municipality (MDM). The district municipality referred us back to the GLM. So instead of finding a solution to the problem, the two municipalities keep passing the buck between each other. This leaves us, as rate paying citizens with no other option but to either spend money and fix it ourselves, or just learn to live with it.” At the time of going to print we had not yet spoken to the GLM spokesperson for comment. We have asked Lovers Maenetje for comment and will publish their feedback in our next edition.

Pule Shayi, the mayor of Mopani District Municipality (MDM) was on Sunday re-elected unopposed as the chairperson of the Norman Mashabane region of Limpopo. The move was seen as paving the way for Cyril Ramaphosa to be re-elected as the president of the ANC in December 2022. This cements his position as mayor for the district municipality again. The election was held via hybrid platforms due to the Covid-limitations on venue capacities, from four venues around Tzaneen. The conference which was postponed the previous week due to disgruntled members taking the party to court over the verification of delegates at the conference, had for the past two weeks been in the spotlight because it is the biggest region with 279 branches. After the verification process was concluded a go-ahead was given by the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC). Prior to the convening of the conference, branches held meetings in which new executive committees were elected which was coupled with the selection of candidates for the local government elections, and nominations for the regional leadership, as well as delegates to carry the mandate of branches to the conference. The Norman Mashabane region, which was regarded as the strong hold for the Ace Magashule and Jacob Zuma camp, became the battle ground between the

latter and supporters of Cyril Ramaphosa who emerged victorious. Spokesperson for the region, Sonia Ngobeni, confirmed that the conference was interdicted over membership verification issues, but the dust had finally settled over the matter. Sources said that the contesting camp took the party to court which raised the ire of the president to an extent that he addressed the closing session of the conference. It was after a branch meeting in Lephalale on Sunday, where two people were shot and 14 people were injured when the meeting ended in chaos over the selection of candidates for councillorship. Though the position of the chairperson and the secretary went uncontested, the other positions that included the deputy chairperson were contested where Maripe Mangena lost to Molapisane Gerswin, the deputy secretary which Mamanyoga Dagma won and the Treasurer Julia Nyathi lost to Raganya Blantina. The contenders obtained 100 votes while the victors received 192 votes. Newly elected chairperson, Pule Shayi condemned those who took the party to court and said that they were not going to antagonise them, instead they were going to reach out to them so that when the elections come round in October, they will be able to campaign with them. He added that they were going to rename Phalaborwa hospital after Basil Khoza. Shayi also said that they were going to improve water reticulation in rural areas.
■ Jeff Jackson Seven soldiers stationed at the Beitbridge border post were arrested this week for assisting the vehicle smuggling syndicates to cross vehicles into Zimbabwe. Two more soldiers and a civilian dressed in an army jacket were arrested following a tip-off and were found in possession of illegal cigarettes totalling R150 000 while travelling in an army vehicle. According to police spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, the police received a tip off from the public about the army vehicle which was transporting illegal cigarettes. He said when the vehicle matching the description approached, it was stopped and a search revealed boxes of illegal cigarettes. He said the soldiers resisted arrest but were later brought to the police station by their commander. The Hawks also on Monday arrested six members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) aged between 30 to
52 who were deployed at the border post between 2017 and 2019. The seventh suspect handed himself over. Hawks spokesperson, Capt Matimba Maluleke, said the seven suspects appeared in the Musina magistrate court on Wednesday facing corruption charges. The five accused with the rank of Private were, Edward Lepokolo (48), Rapula Reuben Maidi (49), Bulelani Dyanti (30), Peter Thato Nemane (52) and Thembi Mojelo (31) while the two Lance Corporals arrested were Marks Funeka (49), and Ludu Gwandashe (44). All seven were remanded in custody until Monday, the 28th of June, for bail application. “The suspects whose military ranks range between Lance Corporal and Private were on the radar of the police until they were arrested in North West, Northen Cape and the Free State provinces. All the arrested suspects made their appearances in court at Musina and were remanded in custody for formal bail applications,” added Maluleke.

Village demands their own councillor ■ Jeff Jackson
Residents of Mokomotji and Sunnyside in the Maake area raised concerns over poor state of the roads in their village. They claim that the village is overlooked when new councillors are elected. Because of this, the villagers said that every time they have problems, they are forced to visit the neighbouring villages in order to access services because they do not have representatives from their own village. They have demanded not only better roads, but have this time requested a councillor in their own village. A traditional leader from Sunnyside who asked not to be named, said that a few years ago when a bridge was constructed in the village, residents from the area were led to believe that a tarred road would soon follow as they were always promised during the election time. He said that all attempts to get attention always fell on deaf ears because the ward committee promised to report their concerns to the leaders, but nothing materialised. Mokomotji is located on the South of Nabane village and falls under ward 32 of the GTM which was grouped with the communities of Moime, Mmaphala. Though the village is surrounded by tar road the access road entering village is seldom graded. Teachers complained that each time the area receives heavy rains, they are unable to reach the schools. A visit by this reporter to the area on Monday confirmed the concerns of the community. Most of the streets were in terrible conditions, and it appeared as though these roads were laid out years ago. The access road passing through the village ends with a tar road before crossing the bridge into Sunnyside village. Sunnyside village which falls under ward 25 of the GTM belongs to the Bulamahlo group of villages. Here, residents complained not only about the state of the access roads but even the streets within the village which they said are re-gravelled only when a top politician was scheduled to visit the area. Lerole Maake, a resident of Sunnyside, said that the problem with the area was that it was away from the urban areas and because there is no activity, politicians forget about them especially in regards to service delivery. “Most streets that are in good condition are those leading to cemeteries because machinery to work on the streets is only sent when there is a funeral. It is sad that we are only remembered by the politicians when they make their public appearances, and once they leave, we are forgotten once more.” He said what worried them most was that most villages around them have tarred roads, but with his village, things were different. He said residents only receive adequate water supply after they had tampered with the pipes that reticulate water from the purification plant to Lenyenye township. The newly elected ANC Mopani Chairperson and Mopani District Mayor, Pule Shayi, said that the new leadership within municipalities to be appointed after the local government elections, will ensure that service delivery goes to the people. He said that they will make sure the problems with shortage of water in villages will soon be a thing of the past.

Local Crime update
LET’S TALK REAL ESTATE
■ Jeff Jackson A 43-year-old Warrant Officer stationed to the Provincial DPCI in Limpopo was this week charged with negligent keeping of a firearm in contravention of the Firearms Control Act. This after his 13-year-old nephew allegedly shot himself with the officer’s official firearm at Shayandima in Thohoyandou on the afternoon of Monday, the 21st of June. The child, identified as Phethani Kwinda, reportedly accessed his uncle’s firearm, a 9mm Z88 service pistol, which he reportedly left in the room and shot himself in the head. He died instantly. It is not clear at this stage whether the child accidentally shot himself or has taken his own life. A case of inquest has been opened and police investigations are continuing. The Limpopo Highway Patrol (LHP) and other operational units arrested 897 suspects during their ongoing operations conducted across the province. The suspects, aged between 27 and 54, were nabbed for various offences ranging from murder, business robberies, rape, burglaries, possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles, possession and dealing in drugs, robbery with weapons other than firearm, possession of unlicensed firearm, impersonating a police officer and possession of suspected stolen property amongst others. A 31-year-old suspect was arrested for the possession of, and dealing in drugs. This after the LHP noticed a suspicious vehicle parked outside the road in Ga-Chuene village. They approached the vehicle and requested the driver to search it. While busy searching, they noticed that the boot door’s cover was not properly fitted and when they opened it, they discovered a blue plastic bag containing 500 sachets of Nyaope to the estimated value of R130 000. Other successes were recorded after the LHP received information about a suspect who was delivering illicit cigarettes driving a bakkie around Seshego Extension 71. The police found the vehicle and after a search found two boxes full of Remington Gold containing 130 cartons with a street value of R13 000. The suspect aged 42 was arrested. In total, the police confiscated 122 641 counterfeit cigarettes, 15 dangerous weapons, 2,3kgs dagga, several dagga plants, 0,008gr Nyaope, five firearms, 438 127ml liquor, 21 knives, seven stolen vehicles were recovered and 1 431 fines were issued.
What is an Electrical COC and why do I need it? • When you sell a property, one of the legal requirements before transfer can be affected is the issuing of compliance certificates. These certificates include Electrical and Gas Compliance. Compliance to these installations is prescribed by law throughout South Africa. Every seller or lessor as the case may be, should have a valid Certificate of Compliance for the electrical installation he or she uses or leases • The Certificate of Compliance should be done by a registered electrician and the certificate must contain the complete test report. • If at any time prior to the issuing of a certificate of compliance, any fault or defect is
detected in any part of the electrical installation, the registered person shall refuse to issue such certificate until that fault or defect has been rectified • Any person who undertakes to do electrical installation work shall ensure that a valid certificate of compliance is issued for that work • No person shall connect or permit the connection of any completed or partially completed electrical installation to the electricity supply unless it has been inspected and tested by a registered person and a certificate of compliance for that electrical installation has been issued • Where any addition or alteration has been affected to an electrical installation for which a certificate of compliance was previously issued, the user or lessor of such electrical installation shall obtain a certificate of compliance for at least the addition or al-
teration • Subject to the provisions of section 10(4) of the Act, the user or lessor may not allow a change of ownership if the certificate of compliance is older than two years • The Certificate of Compliance is required by all insurance companies. Using the correct version of a COC It is important for Sellers, Buyers, Real Estate Agents and Transfer Attorneys, and Financial Institutions to ensure that the correct version of the Certificate of Compliance is issued by a Registered Person. There are still many electricians using the incorrect documentation which will render the Certificate of Compliance invalid.

Saffron Art Studio and Gallery now open for all ■ Joe Dreyer Belinda Schulze and her friends, four avid local painters, came up with the idea one afternoon as they sat and mused over their art pieces they had created at another of their weekly gatherings. “Why don’t we make this into a thing?” they asked. And so they did. The result of their combined creativity is Saffron Art Gallery and studio situated in Douglas Street just past OK Sugarhill on the corner as you turn off. It’s the first right and then a sho’t left as they say. With the help of Yolanda Wellman, Annemarie Theron, Denise King, a cozy yet fabulously artsy corner was crafted from where local artists can express the world through their own individual experiences. Soon after they opened their doors, they were joined by portrait artist, Peter Parrish, who soon became a permanent fixture where he offers art classes to local enthusiasts. On Friday the Saffron Art Studio and gallery held their official opening where they introduced the works of their members to the community. It was a relaxed and open event with canapes and drinks and some amazing artwork on display. During the event, local wildlife photographer, Derek Evans, presented a talk on the intricacies of photographing sunsets, landscape
and wildlife in the Kruger. His talk was preceded by a demonstration by Peter on portraiture. “All ages are welcome at Saffron. It is meant to be a relaxed, safe and creative space where anyone who wants to draw, paint, sketch and share ideas can come and feel free to do so,” explained Belinda. “We offer professional lesson from Peter Parrish between Tuesdays and Fridays every and we have divided those classes into groups to make it easier and of course, keep to the Covid regulations.” The first classes are from 09:00 to 12:00 in the mornings and then from 14:00 to 17:00 in the afternoons. Kids classes are offered for children older than seven and the classes for both the children and the adults are just R500. For the really tiny artistic humans, Saffron Art Studio offer classes between Tuesdays and Thursdays at just R300 per child under the tutelage of Belinda herself. “Join our little group at the art studio for just R200 a month and find yourself among like-minded folk eager to share, learn and of course take a break from the hustle for a while. We have regular exhibitions for our local artists and so you are more than welcome to display your work and take part.” For any further inquiries, feel free to contact Belinda directly on 082 708 6589.

Phalaborwa’s Phospho-gypsum to be commercialized ■ Billy Sibuyi Rainbow Rare Earths, a company which is in an agreement with Bosveld Phosphate (Pty) Limited to produce rare earth metals from gypsum waste tailings dumps just outside Phalaborwa town, published an initial Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC) inferred mineral resource estimate last week Thursday, of 38.3 million tons (Mt) at 0.43% total rare earth oxides. This is larger than the initially expected 35Mt from the gypsum stacks which have been built up from some 50 years of hard rock phosphate mining and are seen when entering Phalaborwa via the Hoedspruit Road. The initial JORC mineral resource has been estimated based on the evaluation results received from more than 1 kilometer of auger drilling which was completed last year in December. The project, of which a binding agreement was signed around November 2020 according to Rainbow’s website with a total consideration of R10 630 650.00 to be given to Bosveld in three equal stances over a period of 12 months in a combination of cash and shares, contains neodymium and praseodymium oxide. Neodymium and praseodymium oxide are the essential metals for permanent magnets that are being used in electrical components and represents about 29% of the total contained rare earth oxides, with an in-situ value of R1346,91/t of gypsum. Rainbow also stated that the economic dysprosium and terbium oxide credits, with an in-situ value of R396,98/t of gypsum, enhances the overall value of the rare earth basket contained in the stacks, with the in-situ value of these four high-value rare earth elements totaling R1743,89/t of gypsum. There are also very low levels of radioactive elements confirmed in the Inferred Mineral Resource Estimate, which the company confirm as the ‘green’ credentials for this project. According to the CEO, George Bennett, the initial Mineral Resource Estimate for Phalaborwa marks an important milestone for Rainbow, “Underpinning the opportunity for the rapid development of a low
capital and operating cost, high value processing facility in South Africa to provide the essential metals to power the green [third agricultural] revolution from an extremely environmentally beneficial project”. The unique nature of these Gypsum Stacks results from the historic concentration of rare earth elements during Foskor’s flotation process, followed by further upgrading in Sasol’s PhosAcid Plant, leading to rare earth elements concentration in chemical, rather than mineral form, which enables simpler onward processing. According to the Rainbow the re-processing of these Gypsum Stacks carries significant environmental benefits in that it will redeposit clean, benign gypsum, which then has the potential for further use in the building and fertiliser industries. Bennett also noted that the fact that the rare earths are present in a chemical rather than mineral form in the gypsum stacks removes the need, as with most global rare earth projects, to firstly produce a mineral concentrate before undertaking a complex and energy intensive ‘cracking’ process. He also said that the initial Phalaborwa process will deliver a high value cracked rare earth carbonate and that studies were ongoing to investigate whether the valuable rare earth metals could be delivered as separated rare earth oxides for direct sale to industrial users.
“This gives us confidence that Phalaborwa will become the cornerstone of Rainbow’s business in the near term.” “Alongside the recently announced metallurgical test work results, which have confirmed that the gypsum stacks are amenable to simple and are direct leaching with low-cost sulphuric acid at ambient temperature and pressure, the road map to commercializing the Phalaborwa deposit is now clear,” he stated. “We look forward to announcing further metallurgical test work results ahead of completing an initial scoping study/preliminary economic assessment in Q3 2021,” he concluded.

New roomy Pegas offers ample family-space ■ Roelof de Jonge On Monday the 14th of June, Kia Motors South Africa introduced a new model to its line-up for the local market. The new Kia Pegas is aimed to offer value-seeking families and first-time buyers the perfect combination of technology and space that will inspire and enable mobility, progress and freedom. It is designed to fulfil everyday needs while simultaneously creating room for aspirations. The Pegas is one of the largest vehicles in the A- and B-class of the South African motoring market, measuring a length of 4 300mm, yet it remains compact enough to easily thread through urban traffic. Its long wheelbase, measuring 2 570mm, means the Pegas offers ample cabin space for all passengers, front and rear, while its large boot makes it one of the most versatile cars in its class. Manufactured to Kia’s exacting quality standards in China, the new Pegas is offered in five exterior colours, namely Clear White, Titanium Silver, Blue Stream, Marcato Red and Aurora Black Pearl. Typically, from Kia’s bold design, a wide, horizontal ‘face’ gives the Pegas a sporty, solid appearance, and incorporates the brand’s famous ‘tiger nose’ grille, a DNA signature common to all Kia vehicles around the world. Smart chrome highlights and 14-inch alloy wheels on the higher specification instill this sedan with a decidedly upmarket appearance despite its value-focused positioning. Inside, comfortable seats, room to stretch and clever design details make the Pegas’ interior an inviting place to be. Taking centre stage on the contemporary dashboard is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system incorporating a reverse camera with dynamic guidelines, a standard fitment throughout the range, alongside the rear park-distance control sensors. The system also has Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It can be controlled handsfree and safely through switches on the steering wheel. Depending on the model grade, the Pegas’ interior is trimmed in either smart cloth or high-quality artificial leather, and all variants offer cupholders and a central armrest for the driver. Further adding to comfort levels are electrically adjustable side mirrors and windows which are included on the entire range. Kia Motors states that the 475-litre boot is the largest in the compact sedan class and its capacity can be expanded to load longer,

bulkier objects by folding the rear-seat backrest. The new Pegas is powered by the latest version of Kia’s 1.4-litre multi-point injection petrol engine. It produces 69kW at 6 000rpm and a maximum torque range of 132Nm at 4 000rpm. The engine drives the front wheels and is available with a choice of a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic. Two trim levels will be available. Feature highlights on the en-
try-level LX derivative, to name but a few, include remote central locking, rear-view camera with rear park distance control, air-conditioning, front and rear electric windows, electric mirrors, six speakers, steering wheel remote controls and 14-inch steel wheels. Building on the comprehensive features tally, the EX models comes with added features like a leather steering wheel, faux-leather seat trim, front fog lights, driver’s seat height adjuster, cruise control, chrome-coated door handles, 14-inch alloy wheels and side repeater lamps. As always, the safety of Kia’s customers is a key priority, which is why the Pegas is offered with a comprehensive suite of safety features. The Pegas safety features include ABS with EBD, disc brakes all-round, dual front airbags and ISOFIX child-seat anchoring points. The new Kia Pegas delivers a winning blend of value, roominess, safety and technology to entice both those customers who are in a position to buy their first new car, as well as families looking for maximum value without compromising on quality or comfort. All Pegas models come out standard with Kia’s unlimited kilometre, five-year warranty (inclusive of roadside assistance), as well as a prepaid four-year or 60 000km service plan. The new Pegas range is on sale right now across Kia South Africa’s national dealer network.

■ Roelof de Jonge Dubai, UAE -The much-anticipated Land Cruiser 300 made its global debut in a YouTube-hosted worldwide premiere on the 10th of June in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). As the successor to the 200-series, the all-new flagship Land Cruiser 300 ushers in a new design direction, accompanied by all-new petrol and diesel engines. Featuring a very distinctive profile, the exterior design employs an attractive rectangular theme with a prominent front side. The stylised light guides, alongside large horizontal slats with either black or chrome accents (model dependant), helps to maximise the visual impact. The U-shaped front of the radiator openings form an integral part of the design to help create a strong, solid appearance. In the rear, the trapezoidal LED lamps further enhance the athletic look. The LC300 also introduces two all-new engine options. A 3.5-litre twin-turbo Petrol V6 and 3.3-litre turbodiesel V6 are on offer. Both these engines feature the latest technology and promise excellent performance, low NVH-levels (noise, vibration and harshness) and refinement.

Noordelikes was egter on-
