‘You pushed him in, so you push him out’
How the ANC tells the ANC what to do; and other rather interesting facts about the affairs of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality. Now turn to page 3, where we shed some light...
Top achievers. Again! Tercia Jansen van Vuuren (neé da Silva) passsed matric at Stanford Lake College in 2005. She has recently been chosen as one of 54 of the world’s most academically exceptional and socially committed young people as a (Bill) Gates Cambridge Scholar. She will begin her postgraduate course at the University of Cambridge in October. Her twin sister, Talia da Silva (also ex Stanford), was also chosen as a Gates Cambridge Scholar in 2013 and is now in the second year of her PhD studies! Such an accolade must surely be a world’s first: two past scholars of SLC, and also twin sisters competing on a global scale based on their intellectual ability, leadership capacity, academic fit with Cambridge, and their commitment to improving the lives of others. Tercia will be doing an M Phil in Engineering for Sustainable Development. A total of 3 535 applicants from 28 countries were screened for this highly prestigious award. Khutso Matlou from Tzaneen, Merensky High School’s deputy head boy in 2013 and now a BA Languages student at Wits, has become known as an achiever at school. He is now a second year student at Wits and continues on his path of achieving. He received not less than three awards at the university’s annual prize giving function, for achievements during 2014 (his first year). He was awarded as the best student in French 1, the best student in Italian 1, and for exceptional achievements in German Studies. Khutso is now teaching his German lecturer Afrikaans! It is known that Khutso is adamant to achieve more than this: he wants to study Russian and Mandarin (and maybe a few others!).
