Advance planning The co-ordination of doors, frames, glazing and ironmongery at specification stage minimises on-site disruption and our factory control systems ensure total compatibility of sizes, materials and performance. ORBIS INTEGRA DOORSETS The construction and patented assembly of the Orbis Integra Doorset can cut installation times by as much as 75%

Patented construction The frame system requires no time consuming preassembly. Simply by slotting together the interlocking frame sections around the wall, the frame is held in place permanently by a series of patented internal clamps which lock the frame around the wall structure.

Speed and accuracy of installation Products arrive on site securely wrapped and with corner protection and are easily transportable. Installation is normally carried out entirely as a second fix operation, thereby substantially eliminating the risk of damage to doors and frames. Installing a doorset in the traditional way is a time consuming activity. Orbis Integra doorsets utilise a unique, patented system of fixing which effectively clamps around the wall structure to provide a rigid assembly with no visible fixings. The Orbis Integra steel frame is supplied in separate sections which click together during installation. Internal clamps within the frame are then tightened with a socket wrench locking the complete assembly into the wall. Lift-off hinges are factory fitted to the frame which allows the door to be simply slotted into place, requiring only the last minute assembly of the furniture. This rapid installation process makes the Orbis Integra doorset a highly economical and practical solution and produces a consistently high quality finished installation.

Consistent quality in every detail The attention to detail and exceptional factory finish on every Orbis Integra doorset means we can offer a 10 year guarantee on all our products. They meet all of today's stringent building standards and achieve ISO 9001:2000 accreditation.

5 www.laidlaw.net

ORBIS INTEGRA DOORSETS Making the most of Modern Methods of Construction reduces installation costs and improves the quality of finish

Slide the hinge jamb onto the wall, plumb level and tighten the clamps to hold it firmly in place

Locate the head section into the jamb and whilst holding it in place .......

..... locate the second jamb into the head section, then slide this jamb onto the wall

Pull the head section down so that it 'clicks' firmly in place, locked onto each jamb

Slide the second jamb up/down to level the head section and plumb the second jamb

Check the width of the opening and all joints are fully closed prior to tightening the clamps

Making sure the frame remains plumb, tighten all the clamps on both jambs using the 5mm hexagon socket wrench

Install the hinges onto the door leaf and lift the door into place. Fit remaining furniture and cover clamp holes with plugs supplied

(supplied as standard)

Safety features All doorset materials and construction, including glazed openings and ironmongery, are fully tested for fire resistance. Every product in Laidlaw's range is compliant with current fire, smoke and acoustic ratings for all building types. This greatly reduces the risk of fire and smoke barrier failure which can happen much more readily with unco-ordinated doorset components.

Orbis Integra Doorsets form part of the Orbis product porfolio which includes Timber Doorsets and Steel Doorsets and an extensive collection of door hardware. For further information please contact your Laidlaw Technical Consultant for a detailed information pack.

ORBIS INTEGRA DOORS & FINISHES Door finish options Orbis Integra doorsets are available with veneered doors, laminate doors or with painted doors. In all cases the door is totally factory finished, requiring no further on-site finishing and with non-projecting hardware preinstalled. All doors are prepared for lift-off hinges for quick and accurate installation.

Veneered doors Orbis Integra veneered doors are finished with Crown Cut Wood Veneer. Crown cut veneers are bookmatched to provide an attractive and carefully balanced pattern across the width of the door. This is achieved by taking successive leaves of veneer and reversing each alternate leaf so as to bring corresponding opposite edges together in a mirrored effect.

Vision panels in doors

Where single swing double doors with unequal leaves are used across a 1500mm wide corridor, the smaller leaf will be greater than 450mm so a vision panel will be necessary. In practice, vision panel options are determined by current fire certification.

Entrance doors Door leaves and side panels wider than 450mm have viewing panels giving a zone of visibility between 500mm and 1500mm (in one glazed panel), if necessary interrupted between 800mm and 1150mm to accomodate a horizontal rail.

Laidlaw recommends extending vision panels above the top zone of visibility (1500mm) to allow greater range of vision by ambulant people.

Internal doors The same guidance as above, but vision panels to be provided only where appropriate.

BS 8300:2001

Laidlaw Comment

Location of ironmongery BS8300 provides this diagram in order to ensure the correct location of door furniture.

Although BS8300 gives a range of heights for lever handles and horizontal pull handles, Laidlaw recommends a spindle height of 900mm. A pull handle length of 450mm, with a top fixing position of 1400mm is also recommended.

Note: where a full width mid-rail plate or lock are required the recommended pull handle sie or position will need to be altered to avoid clashing with the plate or lock.

13 www.laidlaw.net

The 400mm height of the kicking plate provides greater resistance to damage from wheelchairs.

CARE OF ORBIS INTEGRA DOORSETS Veneers Veneers should be lightly washed with a diluted liquid detergent applied with a sponge or soft cloth. Minor damage should be repaired by lightly sanding, using beeswax if required and finally applying a semi matt lacquer using a fine brush. Fully painted Factory applied paint is water based and highly resistant to most household chemicals, grease and solvents. It is also resistant to minor abrasions. Lightly wash with a diluted liquid detergent applied with a sponge or soft cloth. Minor damage should be filled and painted with a matching BS/RAL colour satin finish paint.

be checked quarterly to ensure that the door closes correctly and that all fixing screws are tight. Adjustment to the controls should be carried out if the unit is not closing correctly i.e. closing speed, latching action, back check action and delayed action if fitted. It is important to check that the door has not dropped out of alignment. It is recommended that door stops are fitted to prevent undue strain on the spring mechanism. Electromagnetic devices - Any electrical hold-open device and its associated sensor or alarm should be checked once a week. Further information on maintenance of the full range of Laidlaw ironmongery is available upon request.

Laminates

Product guarantee

Lightly wash with a diluted liquid detergent applied with a sponge or soft cloth. Minor damage or scratches should be filled with a special laminate filler available from laminate manufacturers.

The Orbis Integra Doorset Range is covered by a ten year guarantee on internal doorsets assuming normal wear and tear. Conditions and usage must be according to our recommendations. The guarantee does not cover wilful neglect or unskilled installation or any defects which were visible before the installation of the product but not reported within seven days of delivery.

Maintenance Regular inspection should be carried out to ensure that doors are operating correctly and not binding on floors or against the lock keep as this will cause damage to the door. It is particularly important to check that intumescent/smoke strips are undamaged.

Dimensional tolerances

Ironmongery Hinges - Lift-off ball bearing hinges require no maintenance. Overhead closers - Ensure the door closes smoothly and firmly into the frame overcoming the latch and/or seals. Where back check or delayed action function are incoporated these should be checked and adjusted. Similarly, with adjustable power units the valve should be adjusted to take account of the size of the door, variable air pressures and the ability of the user to operate the door. It is recommended that door stops are fitted to all non back check applications to prevent the door opening beyond the limit of the closer. Floor spring - Should
