DAY TRIP Story & photos by Vicki Wood

A simpler life Antique stores, Amish bakeries, restaurants, craft stores, and bulk food stores in Jamesport

J

amesport, Missouri is a charming community within three hours of Lake of the Ozarks with antique stores, Amish bakeries, restaurants, craft stores, and bulk food stores. One can step back in time to a simpler life, with all of the modern conveniences. One of the first things seen when rolling into town was a field being plowed by horses, indicating that there was some history laying down the road to be discovered. The first government land purchase in Jamesport was by Jesse Harris in 1830. In the Jamesport City Park, the Harris cabin still stands as a testament to the first settler, but has been attractively bricked and is used as a park office. The area was inhabited by the Sauk and Fox Indians at the time. The praries between the East and West Grand Rivers was occupied by tall thick hardwood trees, attracting Amish immigrants to the building trades opportunities that the untapped resource presented. The town itself was incorporated in 1872. The Amish didn’t come until 1953. It is now the largest Amish settlement in Missouri with around 150 families working the farmland of Jamesport. The Mennonites followed suit in the 1990s and immigrated to Jamesport. How does one tell the communities apart? The Mennonites, first known as Swiss Brethren, then Anabaptists(rebaptizers) because they baptized adults who had been baptized as infants. They immigrated from Switzerland to Austria, Germany, Holland, France, and beyond. But the Amish also began in Switzerland. Those that followed founder Jakob Ammann were known as Amish. Both groups immigrated to the United States in the 1700’s to escape persecution of their faiths. The Mennonites are more acceptable to modern conveniences such as electricity and phone use than the Amish. Most of their difference living together in the same 8 VACATION NEWS

community in Jamesport is how they interact with the outside world. Jamesport is a place that embraces both groups as well as the “English;” that is the rest of us. Two of the most popular businesses in Jamesport are owned by both. The Gingerich Dutch Pantry Restaurant and Bakery saw lines down the block for two full days at a recent Christmas Festival on Thanksgiving Weekend in Jamesport. The family style buffet cranking out the reportedly best fried chicken around had the entire downtown fragranced with the fresh frying stuff for two days, drawing more crowds. Located at 118 Broadway, the Dutch Pantry was selling sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls, and pies out the back door bakery store front. The Mennonite owned business cooks a lunch buffet for locals and tourists weekdays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The six o’clock hour was about the only time the eating establishment did not have a line. Their famous fried chicken is joined by baked pit ham, roast turkey, and homemade beef noodles, good stick to your ribs food. There is an equally filling breakfast buffet on Saturday mornings from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. The second most popular tourist visit is right across the corner downtown from the Dutch Pantry, and it is owned by their “English” neighbors. Farm House Collection was equally as packed all weekend, with the mother and daughter duo owners exhausted at the end of a very busy tourist weekend with the kickoff of the holiday season in Jamesport and an influx of January 21 - February 10, 2022

DAY TRIP Black Friday shoppers. Candles are hand-poured daily at the Farm House Collection. The store is big! There are at least five rooms of candles and accessories, as well as home décor before one even enters the loft of other merchandise. In the candle pour room, kids were being treated to a demonstration from the shops staff, and assistance in pouring their own candles that parents had helped them pick the containers for. It’s a fun, interactive family activity. With 54 fragrances in stock, and many colors to choose from, there is sure to be a familiar fragrance or custom blend that would make anyone happy. Stepping up the rustic wood stairway into the loft, visitors find a winter wonderland of Christmas trees, wreaths, swags, and ornaments with a country feel. The cozy store was hard to navigate being packed with customers on Black Friday. Farm House Collection at 113 S. Broadway has two other locations but they ship online and can be found at www.jamesport-farmhouse.com Jamesport is home to frequent festivals and the economy in town caters to visitors as well as locals. Antique stores abound in the downtown district. Quilting and sewing businesses welcome crafters with all they need to create beautiful keepsakes. Bakeries line the outside of town with Anna’s Bake Shop, at 1005 Old Hwy 6, Jamesport and Countryside Bakery at 21870 State Hwy 190, Jamesport. Other Mennonite or Amish owned old fashioned businesses to visit while in Jamesport are the Rolling Hills Store with Amish cookbooks, kitchen and home décor, Shearwood Surplus and Supplies, H&M Country Store with bulk foods, and Ohio cheeses. But if one wants fresh local cheese, a visit to the Homestead Creamery is a must. Located at 2059 LIV 506, Jamesport, the on-farm retail store is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. A cheese making demonstration is available to watch on Tuesdays. With artisan cheeses produced locally with their dairy, Homestead Creamery produces a sustainable highquality product that benefits the area’s economy. The Amish creamery and cheese shop puts their cheese making chops on display early in the day on Tuesday. Samples abound in the store. The Flory family specializes in their creamy cheddar named Flory’s Truckle from raw milk obtained by their Jersey cows. There are a bevy of quaint inns and bed and breakfasts if you decide to take a respite from this busy holiday season and get away to the country. Visit www.jamesport-mo.com the town’s Chamber of Commerce page for a directory of all of the town’s fabulous businesses for eating, shopping, and lodging. January 21 - February 10, 2022

ust a small town boy from St. Joseph, Marcus Words burst on the lake music scene 10 years ago and hasn’t looked back. He has over 180 shows booked this year as a solo act and recently returned from a five day tour in Florida. He might be the hardest working artist in the area since he is also the bassist for the band ChristiAna. It’s not clear how many shows that Marcus is still playing with ChristiAna, but he usually is on the bass and supplying backup vocals for her when they are playing Casablanca on the Bagnell Dam Strip, at Backwater Jacks, Coconuts, and many other bars around Lake of the Ozarks. The ChristiAna Band also tours in Iowa, and Rolla, Mo. Marcus Words Music, as a solo artist, performs frequently at Backwater Jacks in season, a perfect place for his crowds to kick back with some great food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere experiencing his eclectic style. Not that you shouldn’t see him with ChristiAna — that’s one high energy show. ChristiAna Ball, the lead singer, gorgeous and dynamic, can rock a stage. She does let Marcus do some singing, too. Making his lake debut back in 2011 with a band called Borderline Country which evolved into the band Money for Nothin’ (circa 2012-2019), Marcus was playing all summer seasons at the lake until the band parted ways leading to solo shows until meeting ChristiAna in the fall of 2018, all January 21 - February 10, 2022

He has a certain staccato to his singing, and his voice range beautifully lights up a version of “Unanswered Prayers” by Garth Brooks with that high-low lilt making it sound as if he wrote it, instead of Brooks. Marcus describes how he feels about cover songs on his YouTube Music channel, “I don’t think the original artists would want to hear me play their songs exactly how they played it. I assume they would want to experience their artwork through a different medium.” Marcus began performing in public at 10 years old with the school band. In the 5th grade, he began playing bassoon, and played around on his grandmother’s piano. With early musical influences of Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, Garth Brooks, Incubus, Ani DiFranco, Prince, Tim McGraw, and Metallica, the variety of style shows when he takes the stage. “My early influences will always be my cornerstones of creation but it’s only natural for your influences to change over time,” Marcus said. “I was probably about 23 years old by the time I was playing and singing. There was a time where I didn’t think I could actually sing at all.” The thought is mind blowing considering his level of talent, transcending voice, and level of energy which will keep you glued to your seat, or up dancing.

Where did all of Marcus’ talent come from? Early on he was devoted to the band program, into high school, and even into his college years on a full ride scholarship at Missouri Western University in St. Joseph. He played multiple instruments including bassoon, trombone, marching quad drums, baritone, euphonium, tuba, sousaphone, vibraphone, trumpet, marching snare, bass clarinet, and then bass and acoustic guitar. He played a different instrument every year throughout Middle and High School but Marcus did not become a band director or music teacher. He did some student classroom elementary education teaching in college. Instead, Marcus went into the finance world as a training director, before one day packing a duffel bag and heading to Florida with a one-way plane ticket realizing his dream of becoming a performance musician. He is still drawn to Florida, as a recent performance took place down there, when Marcus needs some time off from the lake area. An artist as talented as he stays in high demand. More info His musical offerings can be found online at www.marcuswordsmusic.com, on Facebook at Marcus Words Music. He also has a YouTube channel bearing his name, Marcus Words. Reverbnation features a lot of Words original songs, and videos. Online at www.reverbnation.com/marcuswords

meren Missouri advises dock owners at Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks that the annual winter drawdown of the lake level will soon begin. Property owners are urged to take appropriate measures to protect their docks from the lower water levels and other winter conditions that routinely occur at this time of year. Lowering the lake level by several feet during the winter months is necessary to provide increased water storage capacity for flood control during the spring rainy season. The annual drawdown begins in early January and will reach a target seasonal low of about 654 feet (above sea level) by mid-February. Lake elevations down to 651 feet—nine feet below full reservoir—are possible during the winter season. Ameren Missouri provides a recording of lake level information—updated daily on weekdays—at 573.365.9205. In addition, hourly information is available on the Internet by going to AmerenMissouri.com/lake and clicking on “Lake Levels & Operations.” ................... continued on page 22 January 21 - February 10, 2022

To minimize the effects of lower lake levels and other winter conditions, Ameren Missouri offers the following tips for dock owners: • Disconnect hinges linking docks and seawalls or piers to allow the entire structure to follow the water level down. • Lengthen cables to permit docks to drop as the lake level drops. • During any absences from the property, ask nearby neighbors to watch the dock or retain a local

boat dealer or dock builder to care for the property during the winter season. • Use “bubblers” or other anti-icing devices to help protect docks from ice damage. Ameren Missouri also reminds the public that water releases from Bagnell Dam into the Osage River can occur at any time. These releases can result in swift currents and rapidly rising water levels in the river. Prior to releases starting, a warning siren is sounded.

BOATING SECTION

Tips for dock owners Dock owners around Lake of the Ozarks are encouraged to take advantage of the moderate temperatures now to prepare their property ahead of winter. During the first few months of 2022, the water level at the lake is lowered to approximately 654-foot mark. The annual winter drawdown reduces the possibility of flooding during spring rains. “Now is a perfect time to get out to the dock, do a full inspection by checking to make sure everything is prepared for the winter and your dock can follow the water level,” said Travis Hart, operations manager at Ameren Missouri’s Osage Energy Center. “Once drawdown begins, the lake and Osage River levels will fluctuate as Bagnell Dam releases more water. We want everyone to be aware of these changing conditions so they can avoid damage to their property.” Bagnell Dam water releases can occur at any time. To ensure everyone’s safety, a warning siren will sound from the dam before generators start and stop. Dock owners can obtain up-to-date information on lake water levels and river flows online at AmerenMissouri.com/Lake or by calling for the Lake level daily report at 573.365.9205. Ameren Missouri also offers the following tips to help both Lake of the Ozarks and Osage River dock owners prepare for the drawdown and winter season: • Below the dam, remove docks from the Osage River before freezing occurs. • Ensure that hinges, pins and other connections linking docks to seawalls or piers have the flexibility to follow water level fluctuations. • Lengthen cables to allow docks to drop as the lake or river levels drop. • Use a dock deicer to help protect docks from ice damage. Be aware that a deicer may not provide protection from large ice sheets and blocks. • Ask neighbors to keep an eye on the dock or retain a local dock builder or similar contractor to care for the property when the site is unoccupied. Bagnell Dam holds back water from the Osage River to create Lake of the Ozarks. This stored water fuels Ameren Missouri’s Osage Energy Center, which provides clean energy to Missouri electric customers. Continued investment in hydro-powered energy, along with expanded wind and solar generation, will be an important part of enabling Ameren Missouri to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

22 VACATION NEWS

M

other Nature can be a fickle presence and the Lake-wide damage she caused from the Lake freezing over this winter will take months to repair. Many dock and boat owners had to figure out quickly what to do, who to hire, and if insurance would pay for damages. In late March, flood gates at Bagnell Dam were opened for several days to offset upstream rainfall and to prevent flooding of the Lake of the Ozarks from spring rains. Two months before, with temperatures well below freezing, turbines at Bagnell Dam worked overtime to produce enough electricity to meet the demand on the electrical grid caused by the weeks-long cold spell. Consequently, the Lake level fell to near record lows to slightly above 652 feet above sea level. Normal for February is 654, according to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission guide curve. The lower-than-normal Lake levels came quickly as Ameren raced to meet the electric demand caused by the below zero temperatures across the Midwest. That phenomenon coupled with ice as the Lake froze shoreline-to-shoreline wreaked havoc. The damage was caused by the heavy ice followed closely by snow amounting to 10 inches or more that also caused dock roofs to collapse from the weight, and push the docks farther into the frozen Lake. It was a mess and in some terms a “perfect storm” of events. As docks and boat lifts dropped along with Lake levels cables broke, welds broke, bolts broke. Docks actually bent at the pressure points, partly lying on the Lake bottom and the rest encased by thick ice at the whim of the moving water underneath. Encapsulated foam flotation broke lose as well. “There’s a lot of damage around,” Summerset Boat Lift owner Dave Brooks said in late March. “What went on and continues to go on is unbelievable.” As water levels rose in the spring, it put added stress on the already damaged docks and January 21 - February 10, 2022

boat lifts. “We’re eight weeks behind because of the damage to boat lifts and docks and we’re not caught up yet,” he said, noting his crews are working six days a week to meet the demand caused by winter damage and the influx of new homeowners. Add to that the unavailability of parts due to the COVID pandemic, and he and other boat lift and dock dealers were scrambling. There are several things boaters and homeowners need to know now to lessen damage and ways to prepare for another event in the future.

BOATING SECTION

How to handle winter weather

Are You Covered?

The amount of dock damage at the Lake will be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Many dock owners discovered that their homeowner’s insurance does not cover damage caused by ice or snow. One local agent says there may be an exclusion in most policies that dock owners are not aware of that excludes coverage for damage to docks and lifts caused by ice. The freezing, thawing or pressure of water or ice may not be covered in a standard homeowner’s policy. According to the American Family Insurance website, there are some common exclusions to dock insurance coverage that limit what types of damage are covered by your policy. These can include:  • Freeze-related damage such as ice damaging the structure of the dock. • Collapse of the dock, unless that collapse is caused by a building falling onto it.  • Flood-related damage, including total loss of the dock to a flood.  • High winds that cause severe wave action resulting in damage. So, dock owners, it’s important to call your agent and ask for specific exclusions in your policy. Also, there may be a special rider that can be added to your policy for coverage — at a price, of course.

The return of ‘Ozark’

ans of the Netflix series “Ozark” will get the chance to kick off the final season when it airs later this month at the place where it all began — on the Bagnell Dam Strip. To celebrate the final season, the Tri-County Lodging Association will be hosting an event Jan. 21 at Marty Byrde’s on the Strip. The evening will consist of ‘Ozark’ and Lake of the Ozarks Trivia, starting at 6:45 p.m. with a watch party of the first few episodes of Season 4 following. “The show has provided national and international recognition for the Lake of the Ozarks,” Tri-County Lodging Association executive director Lagina Fitzpatrick said. “It put us in the mindset of folks who were not familiar or did not know the Lake even existed. Even though ‘Ozark’ is purely fiction, it is a great series with very intriguing characters.” It was during the summer Jason Bateman walking in front of businesses on the Bagnell Dam Strip. Filming of 2016 that actor Jason Bateman took place in the summer of 2016. Lake Media photo and a film crew were spotted in the Lake are, mainly on the Bagnell Dam Strip, filming the pilot episode. Throughout other episodes you can still see some Lake of the Ozarks scenes — aerial views and footage from the area — but what is mostly portrayed as the Lake of the Ozarks is actually Lake Lanier and Lake Allatoona in the Atlanta area. Because of tax incentives, filming moved from the Lake to in studio and in Georgia. The series stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Marty and Wendy Byrde. Although Bateman is most known for his acting roles, he decided to impress with his behind-the camera-skills in directing and serving as executive producer for most of the Ozark episodes. “We wanted to do something to celebrate the final season,” Fitzpatrick said. “And the fact that that it is being released in the ‘off season’ brings us a good opportunity to bring ‘Ozark’ fans to the Lake during a need period. The Lake is fun to visit this time of year with a lot of excellent shopping options, the show caves are open, live music at venues all across the Lake and great attractions to visit.” Prizes will be awarded for the winning trivia team. Teams will be in groups of two to 10 people. Participants are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character with many Ruth’s expected to be in attendance. Prizes for best-dressed will also be awarded. Seating in limited so people are encouraged to get there early. Marty Byrde’s has Ozark themed food and drinks available for purchase. A large prize package will go to someone who is attending from outside the Lake area and staying at one of the Lake’s lodging facilities. They must show their confirmation to be eligible. That packet is worth over $1,200 and includes a two-night stay at Old Kinderhook, four rounds of golf at Old Kinderhook, and gift cards to Captain Ron’s Malted Monkey, Neon Taco, Tucker’s Shuckers, Bridal Cave, Marty Byrde’s, Margaritaville and Celebration Cruises. year after purchasing Phat Sal’s on the Bagnell Dam Strip, owners Matthew and Dana Smith found a new home for the restaurant in Laurie — a community that craved a quaint little Italian joint with a vintage vibe of Mama’s Italian kitchen. Serving up fresh, high-quality ingredients you’ll find a few original favorites offered but will appreciate the unique flavors and wide selection that encompasses the entire menu. The couple relocated to the Lake from Colorado and has been in the restaurant business together for 16 years. They purchased their first restaurant, Lil’s Sushi Bar and Grill in Crested Butte, Colo., at the age of 26. It offered sushi, seafood and steaks for 150 guests each night for 15 years, and was very successful. They also owned Blackstock Bistro in Gunnison, Colo. while operating the other establishment. They ran that business for five years before selling their shares to their partner to spend more time with their small children. After 15 years of running and operating a major restaurant in a ski resort town they became tired of the long winters in the mountains and wanted to move to their rental property at the Lake fulltime. “We both thought we were done with ownership as this industry is super unforgiving at times,” Dana said. Dana stayed home with the kids trying to figure out what to do next while Matt continued to work as a restaurant consultant, and still does, for a Coloradobased group. He is an accomplished chef who earned a degree in Culinary and Culinary Management from the Culinary Institute of America in Denver.  It wasn’t long after relocating to the Lake that a deal came their way they couldn’t pass up — Phat Sal’s on the Bagnell Dam Strip went up for sale. They loved the concept and decided to go for it. A year after purchasing Phat Sal’s they found a new home in Laurie, inside the Laurie Terrace Mall. Phat Sal’s on the Strip was originally known for its “spuckies” or “subs” as others call them. The food was good but Matt being a chef knew that he could up the game and create a bigger menu with more Chicago-style subs and offering what Laurie lacked … homemade pizza.   The Phat Sal signature sub is one of the most popular menu items along with the Truffled Fries, and the Goat Cheese and Pesto Rigatoni with homemade roasted tomatoes. Their pizzas boast flavor and is made with a crispy crust. “People have been diving into more of our unique dishes and pizzas which is reassuring to see here on the Westside,” Dana said. “We are just getting started with bringing more ‘artesian’ style flavors to our pizza menu.” Being family-friendly is important for the Smiths, who find it important to balance work/life in order to run a successful business. In addition to offering food that’s hard to beat, serving it in an atmosphere that welcomes family is important. | 4401 North Main Street, Suite 9 (in the Laurie Terrace Mall) | Phat Sal’s West on Facebook or www. phatsalsloto.com | Closed Monday & Tuesday Open Wednesday & Thursday 12-6 p.m., Fridays 12-8 p.m., Saturdays 2-8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

5 tips to get your home through

A

s you’ve likely stayed indoors more over the past couple of years, you may have realized there are things about your home that need to be changed or upgraded. Rising heating costs may also have you concerned about the upcoming chilly winter months. With cold temps already here, it’s important to be sure your home is ready - and that your family will stay sufficiently warm and comfortable throughout the coldest time of the year. Follow these tips to help you stay warm, save money - and make your home eco-friendlier. 1. Check for leaks

If your home leaks heated air, it might be straining your HVAC system - and costing you more money to keep your home warm. You may also notice that certain areas of your house are much colder than others. Common culprits for leaks are windows, doors and under-insulated attics. Check windows and doors to see if they need updated weather stripping or repairs to help seal air leaks. You can also improve your attic insulation. Not sure where the problem lies? Most utility companies offer energy audits that can help you find the trouble spots in your home. 2. Arrange for an HVAC tune-up

If it’s been a year or longer since your last HVAC cleaning and tune-up, it’s important to have a professional come out and look at your system. A tune-up can help to prevent future problems, check for safety issues and help keep your heating costs lower. Being proactive about maintaining your HVAC system will help ensure that your family stays warm and comfortable, no matter how low the temperatures go this season. January 21 - February 10, 2022

REAL ESTATE SECTION 3. Upgrade your HVAC system

HVAC technology has improved substantially in recent years, so you would likely benefit from upgrading now - before you experience an unexpected failure. When you’re looking to upgrade your HVAC system, ask your contractor for a system using inverter technology like those from LG Electronics. Unlike conventional systems where the motor technology switches between operating at 100% or being completely turned off - which is very inefficient -systems with inverter technology work to match the heating needs of your home’s environment to consistently maintain comfort levels and maximize efficiency. Another huge advantage? Inverter technology offers the ability to apply zoned and personalized heating and cooling only where you need it whether the living room, home office or bedrooms. Imagine having the ability to warm your bedroom at night without having to heat the whole house or cool your home gym to 68 degrees while leaving the nursery at 75 degrees. An HVAC system with inverter technology is also quieter, more cost-saving and more energy efficient than a typical HVAC system. When upgrading, choose ENERGY STAR® certified appliances or systems. ENERGY STAR certified systems, such as LG’s systems with inverter technology, can trim up to 30% off your energy bill, and with many states also offering rebates for ENERGY STAR systems and appliances, you can add even more cost savings. 4. Protect outdoor HVAC units

Make sure the components of your HVAC system that are outdoors are well protected from the elements. For example, having a roof over the unit, protective fencing and/or raising the unit to keep it above the snow line are some easy ways you can help your system continue to work well. 5. Invest in a smart thermostat

If you don’t already have one, consider installing a smart thermostat to help you better regulate temps in your home to keep everyone comfortable, while also lowering energy costs. A good smart thermostat can learn your home’s patterns and adjust to your family’s needs, which means, for example, that you won’t be overheating your home when nobody is there. With these tips in mind, you can help ensure that your home will be cozy, comfy and warm, all winter long.

THE ARTS Story and photos by Taylor Mislevich

Inspired through adversity

I

n March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic shut the world down. For all of humanity, this was a time of great uncertainty and worry. Workplaces and schools were closed. Growing concern began to wear heavy across the world. In these moments of adversity are when leaders are born. Courage is instilled. Creativity is inspired. That sentiment held true for then 12-yearold Camdenton native, Nicole Westhusing.  Once the schools shut down, Nicole sought out a creative outlet. Her passion for the environment, sustainability, and repurposed materials led her to a most beautiful creation. Fascinated by the combination, Nicole began mixing fire and stone. In May 2020, she introduced Nicole’s Candles.  This wondrous creation is handmade by Nicole from start to finish. She selects a piece of stone to create the base of her artwork, cuts the stone to size, and chisels the edges for a dramatic and elegant appearance. Next, Nicole drills the appropriate amount of holes in the center of the piece, and adheres a steel bowl to hold igniting oil. Following the base design, copper tubing is fabricated and a fiberglass wick is fed through. Nicole’s Candles can be used indoor or outdoor with paraffin oil, citronella oil, and various essential oils.  Her candles quickly won the hearts of mid-Missouri, as

residents recognized the grand beauty in the simple, sophisticated design. Nicole made her debut selling her designs every weekend at local farmers markets, craft fairs, and festivals at the Lake of the Ozarks, Lebanon, Linn Creek, and St. Louis. Now, you can find Nicole’s Candles at Lake Life Outdoor Furniture and the Lake Fine Art Academy & Galleria in Osage Beach. Wholesale production is also coming to the St. Louis area. Nicole encourages custom orders where she can cut new shapes in the stones, and create intricate designs. Her newest innovation is a tabletop fire pit coming this fall. As the artist continues to generate new ideas and designs, Nicole is also a member of the science research program at the Camdenton School District. Her research project this year was inspired by the frequent public beach closures due to E. Coli. Upon graduating high school, she is hoping to use her money from the candle creations to pay for her University tuition, so she can study and gain employment in marine biology. Nicole’s mother, Ann Westhusing, radiates love and pride over her daughter’s accomplishments. “Nicole is honest and authentic. She truly loves people and the environment. Her heart and soul are poured into her pieces, all while recycling materials,” she said.
