Taking the plunge

ain and mud, sleet and snow, or sunny skies … you never know what the weather will bring for the annual Polar Plunge in Osage Beach. This year the event will be held February 26 with a 5K Strut starting in the morning at the Osage Beach City Hall at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. A Chili Cook-off and auction will be held at 11 a.m. at PB #2. The Plunge Parade starts at 2 p.m. with the first round of Plungers diving into Lake of the Ozarks at 2:30 p.m. Participants must be at least 10 years old and raise a minimum of $75. A Pee Wee Plunge will be held at 1 p.m. for little Plungers to participate. The Osage Beach Fire Protection District will have a water tank set up at PB #2 for the event. Organizers say in 2021, 204 plungers took part at Lake of the Ozarks raising more than $74,000. Polar Plunge events are held across the state during the winter.
