CLUB UPDATE

BRIAN PIZZIMENTI

407.209.1221
Dear Members,
March continues to be one of the busiest months at the Club with several highlights. Early in the month, the Lake Nona Ladies’ Association, in conjunction with Lake Nona Realty, hosted the second annual Volunteer Fair with over 25 participating charities, which had great attendance and provided plenty of opportunities for Members to engage with local causes and make a difference in their community. It's always inspiring to see events like this not only foster a sense of community but also encourage volunteerism and provide essential support to various charitable organizations - what an enjoyable event! The movie night on the lawn created a warm and inviting atmosphere for Lake Nona families to come together to enjoy the recently released Mufasa: The Lion King. It’s wonderful to see the community gather in a relaxed setting, and a perfect way to create lasting memories. In dining news, we hosted our monthly Steak Night, a new favorite among the membership, which was a fully committed event filled with culinary delights in the Main Dining Room; along with the Tales of Italy Wine Dinner featuring Master Sommelier, Andy McNamara, which was truly a highlight for the month. Everyone enjoyed the four-course dining experience that was paired with hand-selected Italian wines that Andy discovered along his travels through Italy. In other event news, the annual St. Patrick’s Celebration was a festive event with a special Irish dance performance; Nona Crew’s Spring Break Camp was very popular and the children really enjoyed the painting, dancing, and pool time; the reopening celebration of the newly renovated pickleball courts was a fun, social round robin with music and refreshments - a great way to showcase the enhanced facilities that engage and promote an active lifestyle for our Members’ enjoyment; the inaugural Lake Nona Member Car Show had over 40 high-performance luxury sports cars to peruse, with Members enjoying the camaraderie along with the fresh off the grill selections and complimentary Adobe Road wine tastings – you won’t want to miss this event next spring! Finally, the annual Griffon Cup: Men’s Member-Guest concluded an active month in fantastic fashion with golf operations, food and beverage, and greens and grounds teams hosting an incredible opportunity for Members and their guests to connect over three days of competitive golf, all-inclusive dining, and exclusive shopping and guest speaker experiences that fostered great camaraderie. I encourage you to join us for this month's monthly dining events and seasonally inspired events highlighted in this issue, including our Easter Brunch & Egg Hunt which I encourage you to secure your reservations as this springtime holiday favorite is filling quickly.
In Club expansion and renovation news, the annex expansion continues to progress as scheduled. The foundation and building framework are in place and the annex is beginning to take shape. Mr. Jeffrey Pullano & Mrs. Cordelia Chan
LEGACY GOLF
Cordelia and her husband Jeff have been visiting Central Florida and Lake Nona for the past five years since Cordelia’s family, Dr. Douglas & Dr. Sharon Chan, joined the Club. Cordelia is training to be an endodontist at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, while Jeff is training to be a periodontist at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. They met in college at Williams College and married in 2022. The couple enjoys playing each other in “friendly competitive” golf matches. When not golfing, they also enjoy spending time with family and cooking. Cordelia and Jeff will be in Florida for holidays and long weekends, and look forward to spending more time in Lake Nona in the future.
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Carlos Gonzalez, GCM Crew Foreman
It is with great pleasure that we recognize and congratulate our Employee of the Month, Carlos Gonzalez, who embodies the Lake Nona Mission Statement through his unwavering attention to detail, dedication to service, and consistently welcoming and respectful demeanor. While finding someone to do a job is easy, finding someone who takes genuine pride in their work and embraces the bigger picture is rare. Carlos does precisely that—approaching every task with care, precision, and a relentless commitment to doing things right. He works so diligently that he often goes unnoticed, not because his efforts aren’t valuable, but because he’s always busy making each day count rather than counting the days. We truly appreciate his efforts and are proud to have him on the golf course maintenance team.

MATT COLLIS

Spring has arrived, and we are eagerly anticipating another month of fantastic golf on our spectacularly conditioned course. A huge thank you to Nick Dolimpio and Taylor Allbut for their phenomenal work navigating early winter weather challenges to present the course in world-class condition – many of our touring professionals have recently remarked that it's among the best they've seen!
Golf operations have been busy with several Club tournaments this past month, with the successful completion of The McDowell Trophy, the Mixed Golf Invitational, the Ladies' Member-Guest, and (at the time of this article) the 18th annual Griffon Cup: Men's Member-Guest is being contested. The 3rd annual McDowell Trophy, played entirely from the Nona tees, featured a spectacular round of golf by our 2025 Champion, Matt Holuta, who shot an impressive 8-under, 64! At the ladies' Margaritaville-themed Member-Guest event, Jean Johnston and her guests were once again victorious in the Gross division, while the team of Carolyn Accola, Sherryl Powell and Darlene Siegel and their guest brought home the Net prize after escaping a forecast of unfavorable weather. Congratulations to Jonas & Johanna Hagan and their guests who were this year's Mixed Golf Invitational champions! Griffon Cup results will be shared following the conclusion of the tournament in future correspondence. Lastly, congratulations is also in order for Lydia Ko, who captured her first win of the 2025 LPGA season and her 23rd LPGA career title at the HSBC Women’s World Championship and a hearty congratulations to Luke Poulter on his first individual collegiate title representing the University of Florida at the Schenkel Invitational!
April brings the exciting conclusion of our Match Play Finals, where we will crown this season's champions of match play; along with the ever-popular Annual Parent-Child Championship on Easter weekend; and the ladies will also enjoy their Member-Member, culminating in their seasonal Closing Day (April 23). It's another busy month of Club tournament action and we look forward to seeing you out on the course!

COURSE NEWS

ndolimpio@lakenona.com
407.209.1281
The hard work of our team is truly paying off and the course is looking and playing spectacular as we move deeper into spring. After enduring some challenging weather early in the season, the now favorable conditions are allowing the course to shine. We are incredibly proud of the playing surfaces and will be continuing to push firmness across them through the spring. Venting the greens after the LPGA tournament has positioned us well heading into the annual Griffon Cup. To maintain optimal conditions, we will conduct another venting on one of our closed Mondays in early April. This will help bridge the gap until our first summer aerification, scheduled after Memorial Day.
ROUGH MANAGEMENT & TRANSITION TO BERMUDA
Lately, we have received a lot of feedback about the rough. Following our bulk fertilizer application in early March, we have experienced significant vertical growth, which may have made play more challenging. We appreciate your patience, as this application is essential for both the health of the overseeded turf and for stimulating our Bermuda base. This process accelerates the transition and ensures strong summer conditions. Throughout April, as in past years, we will be selectively lowering the height of rough in high-traffic and shaded areas to allow more sunlight to reach the Bermuda. Additionally, we will gradually lower the overall rough height back down to our summer standard of 1.25”–1.5” through April and May.
GREENS & COURSE ETIQUETTE
With greens playing firm, ball marks may not always be where your ball comes to rest. Please take a moment to repair your mark, or if you can’t find it, kindly fix another mark you notice. This small effort helps maintain turf health and enhances the playing experience for everyone at Lake Nona. As always, we appreciate your help raking bunkers and filling fairway divots to keep the course in top condition.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to a fantastic spring season!

First & foremost, thank you to all those who came out to celebrate the reopening of our newly renovated pickleball courts last month! We are pleased to see many of you back on the courts resuming this beloved sport. As we continue to manifest the growth of our racquet sports by providing fun, educational and social opportunities for every level of play, this month I encourage ladies of all levels to join us as we hit the courts for a fun and social Ladies' Doubles Tennis Round Robin (April 15) which is a great opportunity for new players or new Members to become familiar with the sport and fellow Members.
As we conclude another season of competitive league play this month, I want to thank all the ladies that played and represented Lake Nona on the WAIT C+ and Gold tennis teams. The last home match for the WAIT C+ team is Tuesday, April 8 against Red Bug and I encourage you to come out and cheer on our team! A new season kicks off the third week in August and we are in search of interested players to expand our team. Players of all levels are welcome to join us for fun and competitive matches, as we work together to grow our game and represent Lake Nona against other local area clubs. If you are interested in league play, please contact myself (krivera@lakenona.com) or Pedro (Pedro.Estrada@LakeNona.com) for more information.
With summer just around the corner, we are gearing up for the return of our annual Junior Tennis/Pickleball Summer Camps, where juniors have a ball learning the sport for the first time or how to improve upon their existing skills. Designed for juniors (ages 5-14) these weekly camps will be held on the mornings of June 9 - 12 and 23 - 26, and July 7 - 10, 14 - 17, and 21 - 24, and participants can join Nona Crew camp following our morning sessions. I encourage you to register in advance for summer fun on the courts!
