Holly Lindsey Founder I envisioned creating a print version of Lake Sinclair Life: The Local’s Guide right after we launched Lake Oconee Life’s book in January of 2020. As residents of Lake Sinclair, my family and I work to support the people behind these businesses, the ones that are driving our local economy, attracting new residents and serving the existing community. We have been overjoyed by the response from the community and the warm welcome our inaugural edition of Lake Sinclair Life: The Local’s Guide Book received. We are proud to educate newcomers, visitors, and of course, locals on places to eat, things to do, and companies to call on for services. A huge thank you to all of the participants in our 2022 edition of Lake Sinclair Life: The Local’s Guide Book. Flipping through you will see many familiar faces and businesses, as well as some that are new to the Lake Sinclair area. Old or new, we are proud to introduce you to the people who make up Lake Sinclair. I would like to thank my family for all their love and support during this project. Thank you to our very talented team: our Co-Editors, Madi and Skylar and our photographers, Jessica and Deborah. They’ve created a true work of art we are excited to share!

Madi Navarro Editor-in-Chief Madi would like to thank the entire team for all their hard work in creating The Local’s Guide Books! Jessica, Skylar and Holly worked tirelessly to create this year’s edition. She would also like to thank Deborah for the beautiful images you see throughout. She is very excited for the community to finally see the finished product. Madi lives in Augusta, Georgia with her husband, John, and their pets, Olive and Cookie. She went to Augusta University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, Public Relations. Upon graduating from college in 2015 she moved back to Cumming, Georgia, where she had grown up and was hired as an event planner. In 2018, after a year of long-distance dating and wanting her weekends back Madi packed up a U-Haul and moved back to Augusta. Coming on board with Lake Sinclair Life was serendipitous. After her position at the time was eliminated Madi began helping with the first edition of the Lake Oconee Life: The Local’s Guide Book and has not stopped since. Being raised by a mother who was self-employed, she saw firsthand how important small businesses are and how pivotal they are to both families and the community at large. She loves promoting local businesses and events to the Lake Sinclair community and looks forward to the growth and impact of Lake Sinclair Life.

Jessica Gratigny Copyrighter and Lead Photographer Jessica joined the Lake Sinclair Life team in 2020 as a contributing photographer for the second edition of the Lake Sinclair Life: The Local’s Guide Book. Over the past two years, Jessica has enjoyed meeting the wonderful people in the Lake Sinclair area. Her favorite part about the job is getting to support the incredible businesses that make the community so unique. Outside of Lake Sinclair Life, Jessica is a professional lifestyle photographer dedicated to turning her clients’ important milestones into cherished keepsakes. While growing up in Macon, Jessica dabbled in photographing graduation portraits for her friends and assisting wedding photographers. When she graduated high school, she turned her childhood dream into a career by establishing Jessica Gratigny Photography in 2017. Her clientele now spans throughout Athens, Lake Oconee, Lake Sinclair, Middle Georgia and the surrounding areas as she shoots portraits, weddings, events, commercial work and everything in between. Learn more about Jessica Gratigny Photography in the Services section.

Skylar Rembisz Assistant Editor Skylar would like to thank each of our business partners for their cooperation throughout the editing process of the 2022 editions of the Local’s Guide Books. In addition, she can’t thank Holly and Madi enough for putting their trust in her and guiding her from start to finish, and Jessica for her countless hours of traveling to capture these amazing photos. Skylar is a senior Mass Communication major with a double minor in Graphic Design and Spanish at Georgia College and State University. Born and raised in Peachtree City, she has always had a passion for the creative freedom that accompanies both graphic design and writing. Whether you are looking to sample some of their delicious veggies or go all out with the All Star Combo that includes your choice of two meats, two veggies, and a salad or dessert, they offer delicious homestyle cooking at affordable prices. A little tip - if it is not a meat or dessert, then the staff at Fried Green Tomatoes considers it a veggie and will claim it all day long! You don’t have to be stuck choosing from just the greens - you can get a heaping scoop of mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese and it will count the same! 46 | lakesinclairlife.com

While managing rental properties in the area, Christy Sanders decided she wanted to take on an additional career path - owning a boutique! Her idea began in March of 2020, and after a great deal of hard work and a number of hurdles, she opened the doors to Crazy Town Threads in February 2021. She has always had a passion for fashion and it has long been a dream of hers to open a boutique not only for herself but for her children as well.

Christy was born and raised in Milledgeville. While she has left the city only twice throughout her life to try out Indiana and Griffin, Georgia, she always found her way back to her beloved hometown. While she was away, she had many people ask her where she was from. When she replied, they would joke about Milledgeville being coined as “Crazy Town,” referring to Milledgeville’s unique past. The city is home to Central State Hospital, one of the largest insane asylums in the world. This led Christy to come up with the name for her boutique! Crazy Town Threads carries sizes small to 3X. She wants customers to be able to purchase more than one item if they wish while shopping without feeling like they are spending too much. The shop is one of the only places in Milledgeville where you can purchase concealed carry purses.

Popular items include maps of Lake Sinclair and vintage signs that can be personalized for any occasion. With a wide array of options, you are sure to find the perfect gift for all ages. Collecting vintage decor for a family wedding sparked an idea to help others find unique pieces for whatever their needs may be. In February 2014 her dream came to life through The Market Collective and has allowed her hobby to thrive. The space that is now The Market Collective has a rich history dating back to the 1930’s.

The Market Collective used to be home to the Mayfield Meat Market and the original sign was still in the basement of the building when she leased the space. Donna wanted to pay tribute to the history of the building and the sign now hangs inside the shop. The Market Collective is one of many certified Georgia Grown retailers in the state of Georgia. The shop offers Georgia grown shelf stable food products such as biscuit mixes, relishes, peanut brittle, craft sodas, drink mixes, and more. In addition, The Market Collective carries a line of handmade candles made from recycled beer, wine, and liquor bottles, as well as many other goods made by local artisans. Customers can even bring in their own bottles to make custom candles.

Kay is a licensed Realtor in the state of Georgia but her focus is in the Middle Georgia area. She assists both buyers and sellers in the Milledgeville,

Eatonton, Lake Oconee, and Lake Sinclair areas. She works to meet her clients where they are and shows homes for a range of different budgets. Her favorite part about working in real estate is both seeing her buyers fall in love with different homes, as well as bringing sellers a contract that exceeds their expectations. She likes to stress the fact that she does not sell properties - she instead educates buyers to make their own decisions that will best fit their individual needs. Kay’s work as a Realtor is especially unique because she knows how to anticipate her clients’ needs when searching for their dream home. Her hard work shows - she was awarded the Reader’s Choice Award for Realtor of the Year twice! She values most the respect she has earned from both her clients and coworkers and appreciates offering her trusted knowledge on different properties.
