secretary - Treasurer's Note Hey Y’all! I hope your school year is going great so far! If you don’t already know, my name is Hank Rader and I am serving as the 2019-2020 District Secretary-Treasurer. There are a few things I would like to remind everyone of. First, club officer contacts need to be sent to me as as soon as possible. I just finished the district directory, but I can make addendums to add in any new information. Secondly, every club should be paying dues really soon. The early bird deadline was November 1st but clubs can still pay dues up until December 1st. If you haven’t paid by the new year, your club will become suspended. Lastly, DCON is right around the corner and that also means a new Secretary-Treasurer will be elected. If you are interested and have any questions about the position please feel free to email or text me! I hope you all have a great rest of the semester!
As you can see in the chart above, only 13% of clubs in the district are submitting secretary reports and only 10% are submitting them on time. The chart to the left shows a breakdown of submissions by division. Secretary reports are a very important tool for the district because they break down what is happening in each club across the district into a quantitative report that can be used to plan for the future. The importance of submitting secretary reports can not be stressed enough because at this point, there is only one way the numbers can go, and that is up. Please encourage your secretaries to submit these reports for not just the betterment of your club, but for the betterment of the entire LaMissTenn District. Yours in Service, Hank Rader LaMissTenn Secretary-Treasurer sec.treas.lmtkc@gmail.com (601) 716-6414

I hope that your school year is going great and that your stress is at a minimum. As assignments pile up and course loads intensify, it is important to remember that just because we may get busy that does not mean that there are any less worthy causes in need of support, so I would like to encourage you to remember what Key Club is really about as you plan your increasingly busy schedules. Introducing: 13a LTG, Shelby Core Hi Key Club! I’m Shelby Core, the new Lieutenant Governor for Division 13a. I attend Ponchatoula High, and I am in the 9th grade. This is my first year in Key Club, and I am very excited and eager to learn more about and serve with this fantastic club. Apart from Key Club, I am a Varsity Cheerleader for my high school. I’m also involved in Student Council, and enjoy going on mission trips with my church. I can’t wait to get started and I look forward to serving along side my fellow Lieutenant Governors.
The Assisstant District Administrator's Take on Key Club and the Holiday Season Hello to my favorite people in the world – Key Clubbers, Welcome to a joyous and festive holiday season. As you celebrate this time of joy and take advantage of the many opportunities for service, I would ask you to remember three things: 1. For most, the Christmas Season is a time of joy and gift giving, but for some it is a time of sorrow. Many people do not have homes, many have no family, and many are confined to a hospital and have little reason to celebrate. Your gift of a pair of socks can give a homeless person the comfort needed for a good night’s rest. Your gift of a card or a visit can help someone in a nursing home feel loved. Your gift of a cuddly toy can give a child in a hospital a reason to smile through the pain. Your service does not always have to be in the form of a large project. Sometimes small acts of kindness can make the greatest impact. 2. On New Year’s Eve we welcome the New Year with hope and high expectations, but for some it will be another year of need. After a season focused on giving most people forget that need continues. The homeless will still be in need, the lonely will still be alone, and when a child is healed, there will be another in need of comfort. The need for service is year round. 3. Finally, please remember that in Key Club, service and caring is not seasonal. In Key Club … "Caring is our way of life". So… Celebrate, Serve, Make a difference! Committee Updates Bylaws Committee Committee Chair: Amber Verdin Members: Vishnu Karthik and Kailey Lipginski We have prepared a Google form that will soon go onto the district website that allows clubs to submit new bylaws or amendments as well as how to write a bylaw form. This will allow clubs to adequately prepare themselves for House of Delegates. The bylaws are currently being updated and the new bylaws will be voted on at House of Delegates in March.
K-Family/Governor’s Project Committee Committee Chair: Jannie Nguyen Members: Rachel Pizzoloto, Sophia Galey , Max Hailey, and Conrad Nguyen As a member of the K-Family/Governor’s Project committee, I was, at first, skeptical about my abilities to delegate the committee and afraid of losing motivation to complete our duties within the allotted time. Today, I am proud to say the committee has, in fact, hit some bumps in the road, but we have persevered and given our best. As a result, we have created a universal charter letter that will be used to convince administrators to implement any club in the K-Family branch at their school. In addition, we have created several posters to advertise the Governor’s Project and District Convention, in the hope that members from around the LaMissTenn area will attend this event and broaden their connections. Our committee is cooperating with International Trustee Conrad Gabriel to enact group calls with our Jamaican sister district. Governor Max’s goal is to build wells for safe drinking water in the island country, and the committee’s job is to ensure this goal is reached. It is essential that your club is fundraising for this project as thousands are suffering from water scarcity!
Policies Committee Chair: Travis Sharpe Members: Zoey Anderson and Madison Tarifa We have created a policy Guide Book for use by all members to better understand and develop skills surrounding LaMissTenn procedures. They will be provided the means to submit policy ideas directly to the board after an approval process. We have also updated and condensed several policies in an effort to rid the book of extraneous wording and confusing situations while setting board performance to a higher standard.
7
Membership Committee Committee Chair: Madison Tarifa Members: Storm Boyett, Tyger Johnson, Marcus Davis, and Alex Dale The Membership Committee, which includes Madison Tarifa of Division 4A, Storm Boyett of Division 11, Marcus Davis of Division 10, and Alex Dale of Division 15, have worked on some of the pages of their Membership packet. Specifically, this packet will include what Key Club is along with the benefits of being a member, the international and family aspects of Key Club International, personal experiences from Key Club members, and the benefits of a school having a Key Club. So far, the page talking about the general aspects of Key Club and Key Club members has been finished and the page about personal experiences from Key Club members has been started. Finally, by the February Board Meeting, we hope to have our packet finished so that we can present it to the board. Therefore, if it gets approved, we can send it out to clubs that are diminishing members and to schools that do not already have a Key Club, which will accomplish our overall goal to increase the membership in our district by 6% and recharter and charter 10 new clubs.
Service Committee Chair: Rachel Pizzolatto Members: Marcus Davis, Kaylee Drucker, and Avae Finch The Service Committee is currently working on reconstructing the Key Club Service Booklet by reorganizing the projects, creating 20 new service project ideas, and having an accessible PDF version on the Key Club website so the general public can view it. So far, we have made minor adjustments to the booklet including rearranging of bullets and projects, color coordination, and changing the booklet to a PDF that can be easier to access. With the new additions to the booklet and having it in PDF format, it will allow clubs and general members to gain easier access and gain knowledge on the possible service projects that are available to them! If you have any service project ideas, feel free to contact- (504) 931-6826

The International President and Our International Trustee Visit LaMissTenn MissJamRock International Trustee: Conrad Gabriel Visiting LaMissTenn was my first Trustee visit for the year and I am happy to say that everything the District Board truly does go beyond their call of duty. Throughout the weekend was a series of bonding time, guidance through the Officer's term, DCON decisions and a plethora of other fun items. International President K’lena Schnack was able to come for the Board Meeting and it truly made everything feel amazing! My experience with the District Board prior to visiting was exceptional; I spoke to nearly every member by phone, engaged in their newsletters, and worked behind the scenes with Governor Max to work on our Trustee Independent Committee! Overall, the weekend was filled with good time management, DCON planning and planning for the future. I cannot wait to see you all in March again!
Yours in service and friendship, Conrad Gabriel KCI Trustee

International President: K'Lena Schnack
My first official visit as International President was to the Louisiana-Mississippi-WestTennessee district. Being able to attend their November board meeting was a termchanger. To be honest, I knew I was going to walk away something, but not nothing as impactful as I did. One of the first discussion the board has was about District Convention. I have never been involved in such a passionate conversation about decorations. I love the enthusiasm and the important role they play within LMT culture. That is what I find so interesting about Key Club: we all lead with the same principles, but have a vast difference of cultures in each district. Some districts focus on t-shirt designs, spirit sticks, club recognition, but LMT puts a special emphasis on the little things to make an impact on the bigger aspects of convention. Throughout the weekend, I had the honor to discuss the future of Key Club with Governor Max, District Administrator Mrs. Jean, and Assistant District Administrator Mr. Anthony. Now I normally wouldn't admit this, but halfway through the conversation I truly wanted to express my emotions by crying and hugging them. They truly embodied the persona of Key Club leaders: adults and students working together (not against) for the betterment of their schools, community, and country. LaMissTenn will forever hold a place in my heart! I appreciate the impact and service you all contribute on an everyday basis.

Club Recognition Division 4a - Chalmette High School The Club of the Month for Division 4A is Ben Franklin. This past month, the club participated in a club-wide service project that benefitted their whole school. Specifically, they had a campus beautification day where they planted flowers and greenery all over the school to brighten the moods of all the students. At this service project, over twenty of their members participated to make their school beautiful. Also, this month, they did a “treat your BOOs fundraiser. This entailed students buying candy for their friends that would be delivered to their homeroom on Halloween.
Division 4b - Ecole Classique Club Division 4B would ultimately have to go to Ecole Classique! They have done an awesome job keeping me and their members up-to-date on what service projects and meetings have been held! Special shoutout to their secretary- Hajer Alrashed, who is always on time and puts 100% of his effort into Key Club! Great Job! They held a bake sale at their school. Four people volunteered each earning half an hour. This was very successful. Also, they helped sort candy for Boo at the Zoo. Six people volunteered to work it. Each earning 10 hours. This was very successful. These are just two examples of the very successful service projects they completed this month! Keep up the good work, Ecole Classique!
Division 4c - Academy of Our Lady Academy of Our Lady to kick off Key Club Week, on Monday, 16 members spent time at our charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House to cook lunch, clean and organize the house. After a full lunch was made, members split up into groups to organize the pantry, kitchen, play room, toy room and clean various parts of the house. To continue Key Club week at AOL $35 was raised during the tape a teacher event, and around 300 items were collected during the food drive. At Shaw, $100 was raised at their pie a teacher event. To end this week we will help work the Shaw football game All money raised this week will be going to Ronald McDonald House.

Division 7b - E. D. White Catholic High School Division 7B’s Club of the Division is E. D. White Catholic High School! E. D. White raised $1647.85 for Children’s Miracle Network and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a part of the divisional project. E. D. White’s Key Club challenged the school to raise $1000 for the Divisional project. If the goal was achieved, the boys would not have to shave all of November! Keep up the great work!
Division 12 - LeGrange High School LaGrange Key Club has shown continued dedication to service in recent months and shows extraordinary potential for a new club. Their enthusiasm for all things Key Club shines brightly throughout Division 12 and can rightly be called infectious.
Division 14a - St. Patrick Catholic High School St. Patrick Catholic High School is located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Throughout the month of October, their Key Club has partnered with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) to collect items for “Trick-for-Treats”, a service project initiated by the Humane Society of South Mississippi. A variety of dog/cat food, cleaning products, and pet treats were donated by students. Thank you St. Patrick for your thoughtfulness and assisting our furry friends! Go Irish!
Division 14b - Stone High School Stone High Key Club had a very intriguing experience at the First Responder’s Breakfast while getting to know the brave men and women who sacrifice themselves everyday. After a prayer led by Jesse Williams, the Pledge of Allegiance led by Kailey Lipginski, and a poem read by Emily Lin, breakfast was served. We are very thankful for our first responders and we had a great time serving them. While we took orders and interacted with them, we were able to ask the first responders about their lives and thank them for their service. The first responders had opportunities to win prizes as they were selected from tickets that were given to them while entering the building. This was a really great experience for Stone High Key Club.

PROMOTE AWARENESS In the world today,
there are so many issues that
need advocation that it is hard to pick. Some of the most prominent issues that need advocation in high schools include suicide awareness,
bullying
awareness, alcohol awareness, tobacco awareness, and vape/juul awareness. As Key Clubbers, we often set examples for others in our schools,
so let's take
action and educate our fellow classmates on the dangers of society today and how to avoid them. Educational posters are a great way yo get this started. This project could fall into any of the Quarterly Service Project categories, depending on what you choose to advocate for.
DONATE ITEMS TO A HOMELESS SHELTER
One way to help the misfortunate in our communities is to donate items to a homeless shelter. Items can vary, but some of the most common drive ideas include hygiene items, food, and clothing. Clothing is especially essential this time of year as the air continuously cools. Some items to donate include gloves, socks, hats, and scarves. This project also supports the

Simply playing board games or singing carols with them can light up their faces. They also enjoy being in the company of younger people because that is not something they experience on a daily basis. HOT CHOCOLATE STAND As the weather outside grow colder, drinks are in high demand,

so why not meet
those demands with a hot chocolate stand. They can be anywhere and will always generate cash. Possible locations may include your school courtyard, function,
a town festival,
a school
or any place
where a large amount of people are gathered at one time. Also be sure to obtain permission from the proper parties to have your stand where you wish.
HOST A DANCE We are all high school students,
so we all know
the excitement of a school dance, but some schools only have a few dances a year. You can host a dance such as a winter wonderland, New Year's, dance,
Mardi Gras,
or Valentine's day
and the Key Clubbers as well as other
members of your student body will come to have a great time. You can presell tickets to pay for decorations,
entertainment and venue.
You can also sell concessions and pictures at the dance,
which would allow for even more
profits.
SELL T-SHIRTS Everyone owns them; everyone loves them; and everyone is willing to buy one for a good cause. You can sell spirit shirts to the students, parents, and faculty of your school. You can sell sponsorship on t-shirts to businesses,
nd
you can sell t-shirts at a service project or event. The price of t-shirts can vary based on how many shirts you order, are featured in your design,
how many colors and what sizes
you order, but a well designed t-shirt that catches the light in years can raise alot of money.
