Service Project Ideas: A service project created by Division

13 : B

As several outside events come to an end such as trick-or-treat, many times the streets, rivers, and walkways are left behind with tons of trash. This is when Key Club steps in to enhance their community by holding clean-up events where Key Club members gather up trash around public parks and other places. A service project created by Division

9:

Division 9 suggested to write letters for seniors at Sam Houston High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana, who have suffered greatly as a result of the two recent hurricanes. Letters were written for first responders and others who needed encouragement in these trying times. As many of you know, Christmas is the biggest holiday time of the year and is full of wonderful gifts, festivals, and activities. Unfortunately, many families would have to celebrate this holiday differently in these trying times. But, we could all promote a better Christmas for them by supporting the communities with the following service project ideas. Service is Caring

:

•Clubs could make Christmas cards and care packages for the troops overseas (plan ahead of time for mail delivery), those who are in the medical field battling Covid-19, and for those who are involved in the law enforcement team who are dealing with crimes every day. •Clubs could write Christmas cards and make Christmas door decorations for nursing home residents, etc. •Clubs could also donate canned goods to their local food pantry for families during the holiday season. •Clubs could also donate dog/cat food and supplies to their local animal shelters.

Recap of Global Engagement Rally

& Fall Rallies:

:

Recap of Global Engagement Rally

The Global Engagement Rally was a success! With 38 countries represented within Key Club, it’s important to acknowledge the countless ways we have been able to impact the world by service and beyond. Key Club members represent a variety of different backgrounds and perspectives, but we all find a common purpose in our ability to serve others. While we have faced a number of challenges over the past six months, this opportunity allowed members to engage with one another and be educated on several critical topics. As we continue to focus on member engagement, this event gave attendees a chance to hear from Key Club, Kiwanis, community leaders, and the Key Club alumni. The Global Engagement Rally showed the audience the different opportunities of how we all from different places around the world come together and express the different ways we serve within Key Club.

:

Recap of Fall Rallies

As Fall Rally comes to an end, the board members hope you all can use the information that was given to promote and contribute a better community and a better club. We hope that the suggestions and advice given will help you better yourself and those around you, and to understand what Key Club is truly about. If you all have any questions or comments, you can contact your Division’s Lieutenant Governor for more information.

Outstanding Club: The outstanding club of the month is Caddo Magnet High School’s Key Club. This month, over Fall Break (October 12th through October 14th), Caddo Magnet Key Clubbers volunteered at the Fuller Center for Housing of Northwest Louisiana. This is a nonprofit organization that builds homes from the ground up for low income families in the Shreveport-Bossier area. In the span of three days, Caddo Magnet Key Club members performed over 25 hours of community service that will count towards the Governors Project of 25,000 service hours district-wide with an emphasis on serving children. Josie Feeny (Division 9 lieutenant governor) plans to make arrangements for Key Club members throughout division 9 to volunteer weekly at the Fuller Center starting in November and/or the very end of October. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication you all bring to your community!

Your hard work and dedication truly strengthen our communities.
