Iqualified with a Bachelor of Nursing from The University of Southampton in 2003 and began my journey into medical aesthetics in 2008 and have enjoyed a rewarding and diverse career to date. I’ve been privileged to have worked in a variety of settings and held many different clinical and teaching roles. One of the first positions that I held was a national role covering a number of aesthetic clinics across the U.K. called Destination Skin. This was a varied and interesting role working across different regions, managing the treatment & injectable diaries, as well as treating patients. This role took me across the country, from Glasgow, to Manchester, Northern Ireland, as well as the Southeast and Southwest. During this time, I gained my Independent Nurse Prescriber Qualification from De Montfort University in Leicester. This qualification allowed me to autonomously and comprehensively assess patients face-to-face in order to safely prescribe & administer prescription-only medicines, such as botulinum toxin (line-relaxing injections), as well as other medical aesthetic treatments.

Following this varied role, I embraced new opportunities and worked closely with a Consultant Plastic Surgeon based in the West Midlands. We set up 2 nurse-led medical aesthetic clinics-one of which was within The Nuffield Hospital in Cheltenham, which provided a varied treatment menu, including injectable treatments (dermal fillers & line relaxing injections), chemical peels, as well

as medical grade skincare-to name just a few. Alongside these aesthetic clinic roles, I began working part-time for Galderma UK, a global Pharmaceutical company, specialising in Dermatology treatments, among other their divisions. My specialised dermatology role entailed setting up and jointly managing 2 nurse-led topical Photodynamic Therapy Clinics to treat specific types of low-grade (nonmelanoma) skin cancers. This treatment involves using a light-activated cream applied to a skin lesion, which under red light at a particular wave-length becomes activated to selectively destroy the cancerous cells, without harming healthy surrounding skin. These clinics ran as part of the Dermatology teams at The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, as well as St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey and helped to alleviate some of the high demand on NHS dermatology with regard to skin cancer waiting list times. During the time I ran these services, I was humbled to be nominated for Dermatology Nurse of The Year in 2014 in The British Journal of Nursing Awards, and received runnerup commendation in recognition of the contribution of the PDT clinics to the dermatology departments. I also worked as part of a team of nurse-consultants in setting up a nurseled telephone support service for patients with rosacea to help with manage flare-ups and understand their condition and treatments.

Teaching fellow practitioners has been a huge part of my aesthetic journey so far, and something I enjoy and find fulfilling. The first teaching role I held was setting up and assisting the Plastic Surgeon that I worked with in dissection-based teaching at The Royal College of Surgeons in London, as well as other Universities across the UK and Europe. This was an incredible learning experience that enabled me to pursue further post-graduate study at Keele University in head & neck anatomy. I was able to use this qualification in the teaching courses to help fellow practitioners understand the anatomy in greater detail for safer outcomes with their aesthetic injectable treatments.

Alongside this role, I have worked as a nurse trainer and held a clinical lead position for an award-winning aesthetic distributor, called Aesthetic Source since 2014. This role has been varied and has encompassed teaching and supporting practitioners in using their cutting-edge clinical grade skincare lines & chemical peel systems. This experience has enabled me to work as a Key Opinion Leader for a number of their award-winning brands, such as Neostrata, Skinbetter Science & Revision Skincare, and present to both national and international audiences.

I have also enjoyed an exciting journey working closely with the U.K. distributor (Ha-Derma) for the awardwinning skin bioremodelling treatment, Profhilo from IBSA since 2017 and train as part of their faculty for their portfolio, which also includes VISCODERM Hydrobooster skinbooster.

I have been a Board member for the largest professional association of Aesthetic nurses since 2015. The BACN (British Association of Cosmetic Nurses) work hard to be a community that strives to be the voice for aesthetic nurses to drive standards, education and support.

I have continued my post graduate studies, and to date have also gained a Nurse Educator qualification from the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), as well as a PostGraduate Diploma in Clinical Education from King’s College London. I am privileged to have been awarded Aesthetic Nurse of The Year at the 2016 British Journal of Nursing Awards & Aesthetic Nurse of The Year at the Aesthetic Awards in 2017.

This novel hyaluronic acid injectable treatment contains no chemical agents and has been uniquely stabilised, thanks to it’s patented thermal technology to be able to stimulate 4 different types of collagen and renewed and stronger elastin fibres. The cumulative benefits mean that the skin improves in firmness and appearance in time, with maintenance treatments. This is an exceptionally popular treatment that benefits men & women and complements all other treatments & skincare regimens.

I am also offering next generation body contouring treatment, the Contour Master Slim. This non-invasive body contouring solution clinically proven to increase muscle and decrease fat. Targeted for stomach, buttocks, arms and legs, High Intensity Electromagnetic Muscle Training (HI-EMT) stimulates the muscle with intense focused electromagnetic fields to strengthen, firm and sculpt the body without discomfort or downtime. Just one 30-minute treatment causes 30,000 targeted muscle contractions for the ultimate no sweat workout. HI-EMT is the medical technology that is

used in aesthetic medicine, urology and gynaecology. It uses focused electro-magnetic fields with safe intensity levels. Electro-magnetic field pass non-invasively through the body and interacts with motor neurons which subsequently trigger muscle contractions. The exposure of muscles to these contractions leads to muscle strengthening and growth.
