Remote Management and Interaction of the Decentralized Work Environment Remote management is a part of Rescue Department of Lapland currently. The central purpose of this research was to investigate effective of remote leadership and seek suggestions on how to improve daily remote management and interaction in Rescue Department of Lapland if it is not possible to see face to face every day. The approach of this research was case survey. The data collected through an electronic Webropol-questionnaire and four personal interviews. The electronic questionnaire had closed and a couple of multiple-choice questions, and interviews added information about of questionnaire’s answers. The data was collected and analysed by using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The knowledge base consisted of remote leadership's literature, publications and various research. The results suggested that an effective communication style is important to adopt if leaders and employees work in many different locations geographically. The findings advocate that the software of remote communication needs to be chosen carefully, and there should be more than one in use because the contents of the messages are different. The remote leader also has a major impact on the effectiveness of virtual communication. However, all faceto-face communication cannot be replaced for the virtual communication. The research provided useful information for the development of remote management and interaction through technology-mediated on decentralized work environments.
