“How’s It Going?” Team Leading During Hybrid Work This article describes the management of hybrid work at Nordea Bank during the covid-19 pandemic. The study aims to answer the following questions: how hybrid working has affected the managerial work of the team leaders, and what are the positive and negative aspects of hybrid work. The purpose of the study was to find an understanding of how managing hybrid work differs from managing on-site work. This study looks at team leading from the perspective of coaching and links it to studies about remote work. Coaching aims at building trust and supporting individuals and groups to take responsibility for their own work. These both are key elements in successful hybrid work. The study focused on a current case in the Finnish banking sector where new ways of working were emerging during the pandemic. Thus, case study research methods were used. A Webropol survey was sent to the team leaders in April 2021 and six theme interviews were conducted in June 2021. The material was analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. According to this study hybrid work challenged team leading skills. It required more one-toone interaction, which took up more time compared to on-site working. Team leaders used knowledge management to lead their teams and communicate goals. Working was effective and there were fewer sick leaves, and the work-life balance was better. It was harder to motivate or interpret how the employees were doing. The lack of social interaction was a problem within the team and when the team leaders gave feedback.
