CÓPIA DO DESENHO DE SCHIELE DE PONTA CABEÇA Usual, everyday forms can look unrecognizable when upside down. When we take a look at complicated forms in an upright position, we tend to correct their forms. If the image is upside down it is more complicated or even impossible to recognize. Thus, it will lead to a more detailed study, a more accurate observation! When starting to copy Schiele’s drawing, DO NOT turn the booklet. This exercise activates the right side of the brain— just follow what you see! Where does the line start? Which direction it goes to? How long is it? Where do the lines join and separate? Don’t try to grasp the meaning of the forms—just believe your eyes! After finishing your copy, turn back the picture and you will surprised how accurate your drawing is! Duração: 20-30mins
ALFABETO GRÁFICO SIMPLES Da mesma forma que treinamos desenhar o alfabeto quando estamos aprendendo a escrever, diferentes tipos de traço podem ser treinados para aplicação em desenhos de paisagem. Além disso, é proposta a experimentação destes traçados. Duração: 45-60mins
OBSERVAÇÃO DA FOLHAGEM A PARTIR DE TRÊS DISTÂNCIAS We will now draw the smallest components of a plant. To start with examine the general character and then the individual attributes of the plant. Choose a shrub or a tree and find a point of view where you can observe the plant. Take three A4 papers and smooth graphic pencils, pens, or brush pens. Try to draw realistically: observe the effects of light and shadow and the structure of the plants equally. In the next step, on the second A4 paper, move closer to the plant (about 0.5–1 meter). Select a larger part of a branch. Notice how it changes from this distance. Define and use 3–4 tonal values. Finally, on the last sheet, draw a smaller unit of the plant. It can be a minor detail of the branch with leaves and fruits.

ALFABETO GRÁFICO A PARTIR DE ILUSTRAÇÕES ART NOUVEAU To improve your graphics vocabulary, open the appendix of this guidebook. The images are from Art Nouveau garden design books. Take transparent tracing paper and copy some parts of these garden surveys with the help of the following hints: use exactly the same point size otherwise the gesture will be distorted, do not copy the whole image just some parts that you find newfangled, make some notes about the style, and try to draw as fast as you can until the form flows into your hand!

UTILIZANDO O ALFABETO GRÁFICO DE ART NOUVEAU Look for a place with plants and choose a graphics style from the graphics pages of the appendix. In this exercise, like in the “Graphics Alphabet of Art Nouveau Gardens,” you have to collect drawing gestures and special drawing techniques from the chosen graphics page. Take some pens in size 0.2, 0.3, and 0.5 and one thick A4 paper. Begin to sketch the main elements (trees, buildings, pavement, etc). Then take the graphical sheet and refine the scenery. Imagine yourself to be the artist, as if you were drawing with the artist’s hand. Graphics gestures and techniques have to be observed if we desire to learn them.
