How to eat Cheese and Craft Beer

Pairing wine with cheese has always been easy. You know that a good merlot goes well with gouda or brie, and that chardonnay pairs well with camembert cheese. But what about craft beer?

BOCK is a strong German beer that is brewed as a lager. Fontal cheese is a milder version of the FONTINA. Cheese goes well with this beer.

INDIA PALE ALE (IPA is my personal favorite) is a hoppy beer style within the pale ale category. If you like BLEU CHEESE, we recommend pairing your favorite IPA with it and some toasted rye. IPA usually has citric flavors that combine perfectly with bleu’s intense taste and aroma.

PILSNER is a type of pale lager, one of the least strong beers out there. Therefore, Pilsner goes well with a good BUTTERKASE cream cheese that is immensely popular in Austria and Germany.

AMBER ALE is a pale ale brewed with amber and crystal malt to produce that brownish color. It pairs well with an ASIAGO, made from cow’s milk, and its flavor and texture depend on how long it is aged.

SOUR ALE is an intentionally sour and tartar-flavored beer. I recommend pairing it with a delicious grilled cheese sandwich using MEUNSTER cheese.

HARD CIDER is an alcoholic drink made entirely from apple juice. Its tart flavor pairs well with sweet GOUDA cheese.

DARK ALE BEER, or BLACK IPA, is a strong-flavored beer made with roasted malts. Its aroma and intense flavor pair well with the famous strong LIMBURGER cheese.

STOUT BEER is strong and dark brewed with roasted malts and barley. It pairs well with a good GORGONZOLA cheese or spread.

MEXICAN LAGER is a clean lager with low bitterness and high clarity. It goes well with QUESO FRESCO or any CHEESE CURD type you have.

Which combination will you try first? Let us know. Don’t forget to celebrate National Beer Day (in the USA) on April 7!
