Message from the

General Manager FALL 2017 Our cover photo of our popular "Dogtoberfest" celebration depicts the fun and joy of LARPD activities and programs. Bring Fido and Ginger and celebrate the companionship of our pets and camaraderie with fellow dog lovers at this year's event, scheduled for Sun. 10/15 at Robert Livermore Park. Help us break the Guinness World Record for most dogs in one place wearing a bandana! Your complimentary "Parks Make Life Better" bandana will look maahhhvelous on your pet, and you'll be part of a fun day of games, refreshments, demonstrations, pet-oriented business expo and free giveaways! Our year of public meetings, and planning of designs and specifications have turned into creative playground replacement designs for Pleasure Island Park, Big Trees Park, May Nissen Park, and Jane Addams Preschool Playground at Max Baer Park. Now we get bids, select contractors, and go to work to build these beautiful new playgrounds. You'll be invited to the grand re-openings of these parks when they're finished, so come out and help us celebrate! Finishing up our 70th year of service to the community has been such a thrill and honor for us, and your continued involvement as volunteers and participants has really been responsible for our success. We're also grateful to the many government partners that help us bring these top-notch programs and facilities to you each year, such as: City of Livermore, Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, Zone 7 Water Agency, East Bay Regional Park District, Lawrence Livermore and Sandia Labs, Alameda County, and the State of California. We also want to acknowledge the many contributions and support we receive from numerous community organizations, such as: the Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce, Livermore Downtown, Tri-Valley Conservancy, Winegrowers Association, Tri-Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, Livermore Rotary Clubs, Livermore Stockmen’s Rodeo Association, Ravenswood Progress League, LARPD Foundation, Livermore Cultural Arts Council, Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center and Livermore Art Association, to name but a few. Together, we make the Livermore area an enviable place to work, live, and play! Lastly, pick a few activities and events from this Guide and make a commitment to have more fun, learn something new, or meet new friends this fall. You'll make your life better, and improve the lives of those around you. After all, as we've been advocating for over 70 years: "Parks Make Life Better!”
