Hace 2 semanas, La Semana del Sur contó la trágica historia de José García Quintos, un enfermo terminal de cáncer, quién según su familia, fue obligado a abandonar el hospital en el que se hallaba internado luego de que los empleados del St. John Medical Center, le hicieran sutiles sugerencias y lo amenazaran con la deportación. La familia denunció que el hospital no quería hacerse cargo del Sr. García Quintos porque no tenía seguro de salud ni papeles, e intentaron que el ICE deportara a un enfermo crónico. Cuando el ICE se negó a hacerlo, el personal del hospital hizo ingresar en escena a la Oficina del Sheriff (TCSO), para intimidar a García Quintos a dejar voluntariamente el hospital, sin embargo el cargo contra el Sargento Shannon Clark de la TCSO, fue negado con vehemencia.

Two weeks ago, La Semana del Sur reported the case of José García Quintos, a terminally ill cancer patient who, according to Mr. García Quintos’ family, was coerced into removing himself from hospital care after repeated harassment and thinly veiled threats of deportation by employees of St. John Medical Center. The family claims that the hospital did not wish to continue treating Mr. García Quintos because he lacked both documentation and health insurance, and attempted to have ICE deport the chronically ill patient. When ICE refused to cooperate, hospital staff brought in the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), allegedly to further intimidate Mr. García Quintos into leaving voluntarily, a charge TCSO Sgt. Shannon Clark has vehemently denied.
