Congressional Candidate Forum To Follow Voter Registration Deadline Every Democratic Candidate for US House of Representatives for Kentucky District 2 plans to attend a Candidate Forum hosted by Kentuckians For The Commonwealth (KFTC) on April 24th at the Bob Kirby branch of the public library. The forum is from 5:30-7:30 and include discussion about candidates’ positions on topics including funding our public education system and other social and economic issues. Voters will have the opportunity to speak directly with candidates at the forum in preparation for the May 22nd primary elections. KFTC members Peter and Denise Zielinski said that they are looking for “...candidates that share our American values and are willing to fight for social justice, economic fairness and the common good.“ The district covers 21 counties, including Warren, Barren, Edmonson, and Daviess. The four candidates vying for the Democratic Party nomination on May 22nd are Hank Linderman, Grant Short, Rane Eir Olivia Sessions, and Brian Pedigo. Republican incumbent Brett Guthrie has held the seat since 2009. The forum is only one day after the April 23rd deadline to register to vote in the primaries. Kentucky voters must be registered as either Democrat or Republican to vote in their party’s primaries on May 22nd. Voters must be registered at their current address. Register to vote, update your address, or change party affiliation by visiting govoteky.org. Register in-person at your County Clerk’s office or at the Kentuckians For The Commonwealth table at local events. Voter registration events and the candidate forum are part of a multi-faceted approach to building a healthy democracy through educating and activating voters. KFTC also conducted a written survey sent to every congressional candidate, as well as candidates for state House Districts 17 and 20 and Senate District 32. Responses are published online at kftc.org/voter-guide. Paper copies of the candidate survey and responses are available by contacting the Bowling Green KFTC office at 270-282-4553. ###
