RE-INHABITED HERITAGE
Forest restoration, Rural abandonment renewal

The project materializes through the regeneration of La Serretta borgata and the surrounding forest, now both abandoned, for the preservation of tangible and intangible heritage that is disappearing.
The central importance of the project lies in its productive role, that it is based on the strategy that presupposes the construction of a symbolic place around which to build a working chain defined by minute interventions, places for production, laboratories, and open spaces.
The hamlet is designed to relocate productive forestal processes into a cooperative community life dimension, with the aim of establishing a strong link between human life activities and the process of regeneration.
The productive role of the project consists of the latent capacities of the surrounding woods through three different definitions: the coppice, the forest garden, with fruit trees and nursery garden, and areas in which to preserve biodiversity. All three configurations are aimed at countering the challenges of climate change and the marginalization of mountain areas, underlining how sustainable forest management is one of our best allies, and not just a source of work, income, and raw materials.
