Constant and Never-ending Improvement. He instilled in me the desire to constantly raise the bar and strive towards improvements within myself or the club.
I remember my first year working for him…it was better than anyone expected and as he patted me on the back for the great year, he told me that if that was the best I can do, I should start looking for a new job. It was a wakeup call, but more importantly, it gave me a mindset that no matter what we do, we need to continue to improve.
This year we saw a new way to communicate with our AI generated videos, a new way to care for the course with changing when we aerate so that during the golfing season we don’t have to deal with punched greens.
As you utilize the facilities, you’ll also see we are currently working on leveling some of our tees. Currently, #2 is under construction and once that is completed, we will start the work on #14. We will also be improving our current cart paths to make your golfing experience better. We have 2 projects in and around the clubhouse that will be starting very soon. The first one is our back grille room patio. We will be moving the cart staging area to where our current patio is and pulling the paved patio up against the covered awning. We feel this will make a significant difference in how you the member utilize the space.
Here is a representation of what it will look like when it’s done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70wXJcYwQNY (Final layout may differ slightly from actual video)
Also, inside the clubhouse, we are currently working on upgrading the foyer and the ballroom. We anticipate having a new foyer design with new furniture, floors, chandelier, and decorations. This updated look will extend into the Ballroom and will include chandeliers, flooring, window coverings, and new wallpaper and paint. We believe this will help update and modernize the overall look of these spaces.
As always, we strive to consistently improve, whether that is with the physical facilities or with the member experience. Please remember to help us by filling out the Happometer surveys you get and don’t be afraid to shoot me an email letting me know how we did.
Thank you for your support of the club and for any feedback you provide. I look forward to seeing you at the club.

DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP
As we wrap up another remarkable year at Laurel Creek Country Club, I want to take a moment to reflect on our achievements and express my heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support and involvement.
In 2024, we were excited to see 23 wait list members transition to full golf membership, and we warmly welcomed 65 new members into our Laurel Creek family. Whether you’re new to the club or a long standing member, it has been truly inspiring to witness everyone come together for unforgettable events, thrilling tournaments and casual social gatherings. Our membership has never been stronger, and the sense of camaraderie that defines Laurel Creek is a testament to the outstanding quality of our members, staff and the unique environment we’ve all worked to create.
This year has also brought moments of sadness, as we mourn the loss of three cherished members: Dinesh Desai, Lisa McCabe and most recently, George Mark. They will always be remembered and deeply missed. As we approach the holiday season our thoughts and prayers are with their families who will be celebrating without their loved ones.
As we reflect on the year, we recognize the importance of cherishing the time we have together and the bonds we share as a community. The memories of Mr. Desai, Mrs. McCabe, and Dr. Mark will forever be a part of Laurel Creek, and their presence will continue to resonate within our club. During this season of reflection and gratitude, let us hold our loved ones close and support one another as we navigate both the joys and challenges of the year ahead.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our club, and for being a part of what makes Laurel Creek such a special place. Wishing you all peace, joy, and a meaningful holiday season.

DIRECTOR OF GOLF
It’s hard to believe the golfing season is coming to a close. It has been a wonderful year and we hope you enjoyed your time at the club! We’ve already begun our plans for 2025 and we can’t wait!
A few reminders as we move into the offseason. We will be aerating greens the Monday before Thanksgiving and we will again be tarping the greens the first Monday in December. They will remain covered until early March, weather permitting. Handicap posting season ends on November 14th and will resume April 1st. If you travel to a state that is still posting scores, you still must post your score.
We will again have mats in the fairways and on par 3 tee boxes throughout the winter, so the golf course will be great when the season opens again.
Congrats to all of our Champions this year! We look forward to celebrating you at our annual Champions Dinner on November 19th and also be on the look out for Black Friday and Holiday Pro Shop Sales. We will have some great deals for you!
Every Sunday, be sure to check out our “Sunday Swings” emails that are sent through Golf Genius, They lead you to what’s happening that week of the club from an instruction standpoint and lead you to great videos made by our staff and some guest students!
Lastly, a huge thank you to our entire staff this season for all they do; Brett, Glen, Matt, Ryan, John and Dave!
We hope your holidays are enjoyable, relaxing, safe and healthy. Be sure to stop in the shop over the coming weeks to get all of your holiday shopping complete.

October brought the end of the official golf season, but competition was fierce as golfers battled to be victorious in various tournaments. Congratulations to both Lynne Demmerly and Eileen Burke who played in the President’s Cup with Lynne winning two up. Secretary’s Cup (Match Play Better Ball of Partners) was a hard-fought match with congratulations to Stephanie Moccia and Chrissy Duman for defeating Susan Odegard and Donna McHugh, one up. Congratulations to the following other tournament winners: Club Champion-Katherine Liu; Mickey Wright Flight Club Champion-Eileen Burke; Senior Club Champion-Donna McHugh; Senior Club Champion Low Net-Susan Odegard.
The third annual Moorestown Cup Event, chaired by Stephanie Moccia, was played at Moorestown Field Club on October 8th. While Laurel Creek did not win (we’ll get them next year) all golfers had an enjoyable tournament followed by lunch with friendly conversation.
Linda Angstreich along with our Pro Shop planned a spectacular Closing Day Event that included beautiful weather, a fun Low Gross Scramble (front nine), winners of Season-Long Competition Awards and a delicious lunch. The team of Heidi Bourke, Eileen Kennedy, Dana Phelps and Joanne Seltzer came in first place with the team of Janie Spitznagel, Julie Knowles, MaryAnn Stack and Jennifer Halfpenny placing second. The team of Christine Blessing, Chrissy Duman, Linda Angstreich and Mary Heselton took third place. The longest drives went to 18 Holer Gina Kassak and 9 Holer

And finally, a fitting end to a wonderful and exciting season of golf took place on Wednesday October 30th when Bob, Brett and Matt planned a “Mystery Day” for ten adventurous women. The golf course, Doylestown Country Club in Pa., was beautiful as was the newly renovated clubhouse. The weather was also perfect so an all-around A+ day!
We are at the conclusion of another golf season that seems to roll around much too quickly! To those who find themselves in warm climates during the winter months continue enjoying your rounds of golf. Those remaining in colder climates enjoy reminiscing about that tee shot long and down the middle, that chip-in from off the green and the 20-foot putt that keeps you coming back to this elusive game of golf! Can’t wait for the next season!!
Ryan Reeves
DIRECTOR OF FOOD & BEVERAGE
As the festive season approaches, November invites us to reflect on our health and wellness while enjoying the delicious offerings at Laurel Creek Country Club. This month, we’re excited to share some of the latest trends in food and beverage that promote a healthier lifestyle, ensuring you can indulge in your favorite dishes without compromising your well-being.
1. LOCALLY SOURCED INGREDIENTS
One of the most prominent trends is the emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Not only do they support our local farmers, but they also provide fresher, nutrient-rich options. This month, we will be featuring seasonal produce on our menu, highlighting the flavors of fall while ensuring optimal nutrition. Look forward to dishes that celebrate the bounty of our region!
2. PLANT-BASED OPTIONS
The rise of plant-based diets continues to gain momentum, and we’re thrilled to accommodate this trend. Expect to see more innovative plant-based dishes that are not only satisfying but also packed with nutrients. Our buffalo cauliflower appetizer and our roasted cabbage parm are delicious plantbased options featured on our menu. From hearty salads to flavorful grains, our chefs craft meals that are both delicious and nourishing.
3. MINDFUL EATING
Mindfulness in dining is a growing trend focused on savoring each bite and being present during meals. We encourage our members to experience mindful eating by slowing down and enjoying the flavors and textures of their food. I know it’s hard to slow down and savor when Chef Pete is making such delicious dishes and Chef Dave is putting out decadent courses at the Chef’s Table.
4. HEALTH-CONSCIOUS BEVERAGES
As you toast to the season, consider exploring our selection of health-conscious beverages. Look for options such as low-sugar beverages like our White Linen cocktail, which features cucumber and St. Germain. Herbal-infused drinks, organic wines, and our 0% beer selection are great healthy options as well. We aim to provide alternatives that are enjoyable yet align with a healthier lifestyle. As we navigate through November, let’s celebrate health and wellness together. We invite you to join us in embracing these trends, whether through trying new dishes or expanding your culinary horizons. We look forward to welcoming you at the club and wish you a month filled with health, happiness, and memorable dining experiences.

Carol MacLennan
DIRECTOR OF TENNIS
Yes. It’s true...it’s not a rumor. At the end of the year, I will be hanging up my hat as Director of Tennis at Laurel Creek. I told Joel at the end of last year that 2024 would be my final year as the director. However, I’m not ready to leave The Creek. I plan to stay on board to assist the incoming director and I will continue to work on court giving tennis and pickleball clinics, lessons and of course, helping with junior summer tennis camp.
I owe a debt of gratitude to Christine Blessing who recommended me for the position not once, but twice. The first time I was asked to interview was in 2006 and I declined, choosing to stay closer to home where I took the position as Head Pro at the Haddon Field Club. Three years later, I got another call from Laurel Creek and decided to check it out. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I’ve had 16 wonderful years on the courts at Laurel Creek.
I’ve seen so many changes and improvements over the years including the addition of pickleball courts, updated LED lighting and major tennis court reconstruction. We now have a larger tennis office and a storage shed for tennis balls and supplies. And our programming is always changing and evolving. When I started in 2009, there were no teams, no evening clinics and a small summer program. We now have three Women’s Interclub Teams in the Philadelphia Spring League, several daytime, evening and weekend clinics and a booming junior summer program.
I have always believed that a strong tennis program offers opportunities for every member of the family. It was my goal to offer daytime clinics for the Moms, weekend and evening clinics for the Dads and working Moms and summer tennis camp for the kids. Adding pickleball has opened up even more playing opportunities for members.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with an exceptional executive team and staff at Laurel Creek, and I’m thankful to my amazing tennis coaches, especially Wes, Bill and the many camp coaches who have helped over the years. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my late husband, affectionately known as Mr. Scott, for the many years of dedication to the courts and Chaco, who has stepped up to keep the courts in great shape.
I feel blessed to have shared the courts with many of you over the years and I’m honored to call you dear friends, but when the kids I taught as young juniors are now married and having kids of their own, it may be a sign it’s time!
John Slade
DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE OPERATIONS
Several tees are being improved this fall, starting with #2. The Champion/Palmer, and Medal tees are being combined into one large tee. This will eliminate the loss of usable teeing ground that we previously had at the front of the rear tee and back of the forward tee, along with picking up the area that was rough in between the two old tees.
As you stand on the new tee, it appears to be significantly longer than the old tees. However, the back of the tee and front of the tee are unchanged from the old tees. The fact that the new tee appears to be so large just shows how much unusable area there was in the past.
This additional teeing space will allow for greater flexibility in daily setup, as well as tee marker rotation for turf recovery
