The Tribute to Lucy and Ricky Musical Comedy Show

Friday, June 7th • 6-7:30pm

Location: Auditorium

Melody Knighton and Luis Hernandez will embrace the iconic rolls of Lucy and Ricky, bringing a tribute to one of America’s favorite TV couples to our stage. Experience some of the most memorable moments from I Love Lucy through their stand-up comedy, skits, and musical numbers. Feel free to dance and sing along as you become the live studio audience! You may even get called to stage to be part of the show! This laugh-out-loud evening is perfect for audiences of all ages and will remind everyone of a more innocent time. This event is co-sponsored by Friends of the LCPL.

Friends of the Library Annual Dinner

80th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy

Operation Overlord, better known as D-Day, was the greatest amphibious invasion the world has ever seen. In the early hours of June 6, 1944, the D-Day landings marked the beginning of the liberation of France and Western Europe. Learn about the Allied Expeditionary Force, the more than 130,000 soldiers, sailors, and airmen who crossed the English Channel, and how D-Day helped forge a trans-Atlantic bond that continues to ensure the freedom and security of millions.

Coconut Crunch Pie

Toasted coconut, caramel, and pecans…do we have your mouth watering yet? You won’t want to miss our hands-on workshop to learn how to make this delicious no-bake pie. Sheila Parrett will return to teach us how to create one of the favorites from her former pie shop.

It’s Superman Day and we’ll be celebrating with a special showing of this 1978 classic. From the doomed planet of Krypton, two parents launch a spaceship carrying their infant son to earth. Here he grows up to become Clark Kent, mildmannered reporter for the Metropolis Daily Planet. But with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men, he battles for truth and justice as Superman. This movie is rated PG.

Matinee Movie: Hidden Figures

The incredible untold true story of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan & Mary Jackson — brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Friends of the LCPL Children’s Book Sale

Friends of the LCPL are offering a special oneday children’s book sale just in time for summer reading and your summer vacations. Browse and purchase a wide selection of gently used, bargainpriced children’s books, audiobooks, and DVDs. Soak up the fun during our outdoor water games! Be the first to cross the finish line during the rain gutter races, knock all of the cups down using the squirt bottle, throw the fish back in the pond, and more. Once the games are over, we’ll relax inside with a snack and short movie.

True Crime: The McStay Family Murders

Tuesday, June 25th • 6-7pm

The McStay family murders occurred on or near February 4, 2010, after the family disappeared from their home in Fallbrook, California, United States. Their bodies were found in the desert near Victorville, California, on November 13, 2013. Their disappearance was widely reported by the national news media.

Mastering File Management

Teen Book Bingo Blitz

June 1st - July 31st

Get ready for a summer of bookish adventures with this fun challenge! This is the ultimate way to explore new genres, discover new authors, and find new favorites.

Here’s how it works:

Grades: 7-12th

Visit www.laurellibrary.org or call 864-5759 to register for events.

Pick up your Bingo card from the library. Each square represents a different reading challenge. As you complete each challenge, mark off the corresponding square on your Bingo card. Once you achieve a Bingo (five squares in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), you’ll be entered into a drawing for some awesome prizes! The more bingos you achieve, the more entries you’ll earn for the prize drawing.

Kindergarten Readiness Workshop

Starting school is an exciting time for little students and their families! This event is designed to introduce parents and students to skills they can practice over the summer to be ready for preschool or kindergarten, including fun hands-on activities that focus on beginning math, reading, and science. Parents and caregivers will take home a free book and information packets that will help prepare students for a successful school year.

Gleam and Glow: Fantastic Fairytale Meet & Greet

Step right into the magical world of fairytales! Get ready to meet your favorite fairytale characters in person! We’ll have an enchanting meet and greet with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Tiana, Aladdin, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Flynn, Tinkberbell, and Elsa.

But wait, there’s more! We’ll have fun fairytale crafts fit for kings and queens! While you’re here, don’t forget to stock up on enchanting tales featuring your beloved fairytale characters! Are you ready to embark on an enchanted adventure? Your fairytale journey awaits! With the number expected to attend, we’ll close the line at 1pm to ensure everyone gets through in time.
