Catwalk to your wardrobe This month, is all about creating shapes, from boot leg trousers to peplum skirts. Spring is going to see the start of colour. #letsgoshopping

Pretty in pink is fast becoming the trend for spring. Adding neutral tones to a pink outfit can help to balance the colour pallette. Always make sure you find a pink that suits you and not just the pinks you see on the catwalks.

Staying down to earth whilst your are rising to fame must be hard, right? We interview this rising star to get the scope on how she stays a regular teen.

M

By Lauren Holly Photography by Becky James Styling by Louise Pritchard

olly Kate, best know for her role in Rock Challenge, spoke to LipGloss exclusively about how she stays grounded, Whilst rising to fame. Molly Kate is not your average teenage girl; at just 13 she began her rise to fame by taking part in a school dance challenge. It was here that she was scouted by a multi star award winning dance school and she received her first dance role in the up and coming television show ‘Let’s Get Down’. Whilst she is rising to fame, it is still important to remember that she is just 15, and now she wants to let us know how she stays an ordinary teen whilst all the cameras are flashing.

Molly Kate spoke to LipGloss about what she does daily, she said “ Of course I still go to school, I still do my homework, just because i’m on TV doesnt mean I get to skip school” After laughing about all the homework she is behind on because on dance rehersals, we got onto the topic of what it’s like being a teenager and how she balances the tv show rehersals.

“Just because I’m on TV, doesn’t mean I get to skip school”

30 “I’m just like any other teen’ she said ‘and just because I’m becoming popular I still have to remeber that I am just a teenage girl’. She told us that she feels lucky for the oppotrunity she has to be a star but ‘I still have to remember to do my chores and hang out with my friends, I’m just a regular girl’. Her tv show rehersals are tough and take place five days a week after school. “Weekends are important, I use this time to catch up on my homework and most importantly spend time with my family, without them I wouldnt be able to be a part of the TV show and still live as a normal girl’.

“Taking care of yourself is super important, you have to find time in the day just for you”, this doesn’t sound like the easiest thing to do, especially when you have school work, chores and seeing friends, that’s important too! But Molly told LipGloss that being on TV puts strain on her to always look her best and she says that “being a teen is hard enough, now all these body changes too!”.

“spend time with my family”

At LipGloss, we really wanted to know the secrets she has to staying healthy and looking great. With all the exercise, it can’t be too hard to keep fit, right? “So, I’m dancing five days a week, which is hard, so I always make time to eat pizza at home and a burger with my friends at the weekend’ So now we know that Molly Kate is your gal to take on a dinner date, we want to know more about how she takes care of herself.

“being a teen is hard enough”

As a teen, we all know that being hungry is a daily struggle, always looking for the next thing you can devour before changing classes. But does Molly Kate have any tips that we should be using for a busy on the go life style? “Bananas, are a life saver, I grab one everytime I leave the house” So Bananas keep you full and are a great thing to grab quickly but aren’t they just a bit boring! If we wanted to eat a real snack...”Bananas dipped in peanut butter and chocolate” Yep we think that will just about do it! So eating right is important and exercising too but what about keeping your mind happy? “ Being positive is important, challenge yourself, but don’ push yourself to the point of worry” “Only do what you can do”

As we already know being a 31 teen feels like that hardest thing you will have to go through, but it’s just a phase, Molly told us. “Be yourself, have fun, don’t let anyone make you feel like you can’t do something” ”If I had followed what everyone else had said to me I wouldn’t have been given the opportunity to be part of this amazing TV show” Molly Kate

Dealing with growing up means your body changes, skin becomes oily and your mood can hit rock bottom, “just because i’m a teen star, I still deal with oily skin and bad hair” but she tells us that showering daily, using a good deoderant and a sweet body spray is all you need.

Molly plans to write a blog to go along side her journey on Let’s Get Down as a way of documenting her time there but also letting her fans know what her everyday struggles are and that she is just a normal girl who has been given an amazing opportunity.

“Just a normal girl”

She told us once of how lucky she feels to be the girl that go chosen but we asked her would she do it all again, “Honestly, yes. If I had this chance again I think I would have said yes. I have days of self doubt, like anyone else but by being part of a group of people that are going through similar things to me, really makes me feel part of something bigger than just myself.

French braids have always been a popular choice of hairstyle but have you tried two braids? Split the hair in two and begin the braid at the front of the head.

Hair Edit

39

Creating this style of braid is simple. By seperating the hair into three pieces and wrapping them around and through the lower hair loop. This style is great for any summer event, parties maybe a wedding.

Gwyneth Paltrow has since committed herself to all things “good,” ultimately eliminating bread, red meat, cow’s milk, eggplants, even tomatoes from her diet. She starts her mornings off with a green juice and maintains a gluten-free, mildly vegan diet throughout the day.

I have always been a healthy eater and I have the same mentality as Gweneth, Green is Good. I always have lots of energy and feel good about myself Fran (Nutritionist)

The Dukan Diet originates from France and is a diet that is mostly based on eating proteins. This Diet is said to be the one that Kate Middleton will be on before the Royal Wedding. It is a regimen that is broken into three phases and becomes less strict with each week. You can varaiate the diet depending on how many pounds you want to shed.

I tried this diet for three weeks and honestly I think this really works. I actually lost 10lbs and had a really good time losing weight. Becky (Diet Specialist)

Dear Annie

Dear Annie Dear Annie,

Dear Sophie,

I am having a hard time getting on with my best friend. We both like the same boy and since I admitted it to her, we haven’t spoken. Please help, I don’t know what to do.

It can be hard when you and your friend have a crush on the same boy but the key to keeping your friendship is communication. You need to talk to each other about how you both feel, if your friendship is as srong as you think it is, you will both work it out. Don’t let a boy ruin a good friendship.

Sophie (15, London)

Annie

Dear Annie,

Dear Laura,

I have bad skin and its really getting me down. Because my skin is bad, it’s stopping me from going out with my friends and people I hang out with are starting to dislike me. I don’t want my insecurities to lose me friends.

Having bad skin, is unfortunately part of growing up and it’s nothing for you to feel bad about. Drink plenty of water and exercise, this should help to clear you skin slightly. Talk to your friends and tell them your insecurities, you might find that they feel insecure about themselves too! Annie

Laura (13, London)

Dear Annie,

Dear Alice,

I’m worried about my grades at school. My other classmates seem to be achieving good grades and i think i’m a little behind. Is there anything you can suggest that could help me?

School is important and it is ideal to leave school with good grades. It is important to ask for help, let your teachers know that you are falling behind so they can give you guidance. There is always someone that can help you out.

Alice (16, Brighton) Annie

Dear Annie,

Dear Jo,

My mum and dad are getting a divorce and I’m worried that means I will have to choose between them both. I don’t want to upset either of my parents but I don’t know how I can make a decision like that?

You mum and dad will love you no matter what decision you make and you have to make a choice that is right for you. If your parents move apart and it means changing school, it’s ok to be worried about it but talk to your mum and dad together, they will understand that you are confused.

Jo (14, London)
