Pedals, Paddles and Sunshine

Light wind. Cloud clear of most summits.

After lunch we were given mountain bikes and sent on an uphill journey. It took about an hour and aa half thanks to our leader (no names mentioned … Richard!) getting lost on the way.

How Windy? Southerly 10 to 15mph.

How Wet? Rain unlikely

Cloud on the hills? Cloud widely above the summits after just patchy cloud on some higher slopes in morning. Highest risk of low cloud, generally above 500 to later 700m will be on higher summits in Loch Lomond NP, Arran and Mull, although on mainland the cloud should all clear.

A slightly wet session in the new submersible Kayaks

When we finally arrived at the lake we were put straight into our kayaks and set off, and the whole idea of kayaking in a straight line became quite complex to some of us, (Thomas and Bradley). We could choose which way we wanted to go, we kayaked into the reeds… never to return. When we finally found our way out of the reeds, we got out of our kayaks then went swimming in the lake, (FREEZING!). After Hot Chocolate and Thomas’ roasted socks we got back on our bikes and thankfully went downhill. We got back reasonably safely apart from the bruises Louise and Thomas received from Helen’s ‘Careful’ Steering. Lousie B, Thomas C, Bradley W, Helen Inman, Matthew P

Sunshine - Air clarity? Patchwork of sunshine although extensive high level cloud. Visibility excellent.

Paul T – What am I doing here?

Shooting Straight We enjoyed shooting because it was easy to do (sort of), the lead pellets mad a really good sound and came out the end. Chris was a really good instructor and that made everything easier!

How Cold? o

14 C (at 900m) o 20 C (at Station)

Mug shot of the day.

The Dc's midge bites were providing entertainment in the office.

The duty patrol washing up had wiped the smile from mugsies face.

The new help in the kitchen was clearly very 'special'!
