In today's hectic world, it's easy to forget that taking time to enjoy each day is so important to our health and well-being. Leander Parks and Recreation is committed to insuring that every resident has an opportunity to experience outstanding recreational activities and park facilities that enhance our quality of life by helping us stay healthy and fit, build relationships with family and friends, and develop a sense of community pride.

Take a walk alongside a meandering creek, play a round of golf, sign up for a fitness class, join an athletic team, take an art class, check out a book, go on a family picnic, listen to live music or view a movie in the park. When I saw the preview of this LeanderPlay issue, I was amazed at what our incredible staff has worked tirelessly to bring to you in order to create an even more cohesive community. I believe you will be amazed to at the amount and types of coordinated events and activities we are offering for the upcoming winter and spring. There is something for everyone, including our teens, adults and families. Equally, we are committed to providing opportunities that add to the city’s economic vitality, through partnerships, sponsorships and civic engagement that leverage resources to meet ever changing citizen demands.

COME VISIT US AT THE LEANDER ACTIVITY CENTER, MARK TUMMONS Leander Parks and Recreation Director

Leander is a community committed to quality living. This commitment has created the City's wonderful park and recreation system that offers a network of community and neighborhood parks, natural areas and open spaces, pathways and trails, recreational facilities, and year round recreational activities.

The City of Leander is committed to providing a high quality of life for our residents which includes the many events, programs and facility rentals offered by Leander Parks and Recreation and the Leander Public Library. In order to offer a new con venience to our residents, we would like to introduce CivicRec. This software gives you the ability to view, register and reserve Leander Parks and Recreation and Leander Public Library activities, events, facilities and manage your account all in one place. Payments for programs and rentals can also be made from CivicRec. Once you create an account and sign in, be sure to click on “Account” to verify your address and contract information. Click on “Catalog” to view recreation programs, specials events, library programs, pavilion rentals and more. Go to leandertx.gov/fun to join in on all of the fun!

One of our goals is to promote and maintain the community’s investment in facilities and the natural environment, with an emphasis on sustainability, safety, accessibility, aesthetic quality and fiscal responsibility. Our operations and maintenance staff is second to none! They take great pride in all our parks and look for opportunities daily to improve them. My hat is off to their work ethic.
