MANDY Vor knapp 10 Jahren habe ich das Kindermodelabel »CharLe – sustainable kids fashion« gegründet. Damals hatte ich für meine beiden Kinder mitwachsende Longsleeves entwickelt. Meine Idee war es, auch andere Mütter und Väter an dieser Idee partizipieren zu lassen. Die Gründungsstunde hatte also geschlagen. Einen Businessplanwettbewerb, ein Gründungscoaching, zwei Praktika bei Designerinnen in Berlin und einer Gasthörerschaft an der HTW Studiengang Modedesign später MANDY GEDDERT

Es war mir wichtig regionale Arbeitsplätze zu sichern. Das ist mir, bis auf den Anbau der Baumwolle, auch gelungen. Unsere Bio Baumwolle wächst in der Türkei. Das ist vergleichsweise ziemlich nah. Die erste Händlermesse, an der ich als Ausstellerin teilnahm, kündigte sich ebenfalls an. Aus einem Gewerberaum wurden zwei. Ich fand aber keines, das mich überzeugte. So beschloss ich, diese selbst produzieren zu lassen und suchte mir einen Experten. Die Suche nach einem Bandweber, der das aufregende Projekt mit mir starten sollte, dauerte ein Jahr. In Österreich wurde ich schließlich fündig.

MANDY Ich war Ausstellerin auf der Verbrauchermesse »WearFair« in Linz und lud den Bandweber an meinen Stand ein. Zugegebenermaßen glaubte ich nicht daran, dass er tatsächlich erscheinen würde. Ein Autorennen, an dem er teilnahm, fand unweit von Linz entfernt statt. Da er nun schon in der Nähe war, kam er auch auf die Messe. Er sagte, es interessiere ihn, was die Ökos so treiben. Ich fand ihn gleich sehr sympathisch: Ein authentischer Typ, der sagt, was er denkt. Meine Idee fand er spannend, war aber nicht daran interessiert, sie für mich umzusetzen. Er produziere konventionelle Industriebänder. Für Mode interessiere er sich nicht und diesem ökologischen Trend gäbe er auch keine Zukunft. Ich ließ nicht locker und so trafen wir uns einige Monate später erneut in Österreich, in Wien. Es gelang mir, ihn davon zu überzeugen, ein

Drei Monate später, kurz vor Weihnachten 2012, hielt ich das erste ökologische Gummiband in 18 mm Breite aus Bio Baumwolle und Naturkautschuk in meinen Händen. Das war ein unfassbar großartiges Gefühl.
