About the life of Audrey Hepburn
Audrey
Born in Brussels, raised in Arnhem and broke through in London. Audrey Hepburn conquered the world, but it didn’t happen by itself. A father who left the family. the war that left a mark on her childhood and a dance career that did not take off.
This book is the story of the intense life she led. From early steps on the theatre stage to a role model in the film world of the 1950s. From mother of two sons to UNICEF ambassador for many children. She did this all under the motto: “Giving is living. When you stop giving, there is nothing left to live for.”
Audrey managed to preserve her own authenticity, fighting for a life where she was just happy. She was emotional, courageous, delicate and romantic. Just like she was in the movies she starred in.
With many unique photos!

Dutch agriculture is at a turning point. More and more people are realizing that things really have to change: more sustainable, with more attention to biodiversity, animal welfare and the landscape. The call for an agriculture that deals carefully with the quality of water, soil and air is growing. Many farmers are willing to participate in this development, but they are part of a complex system that makes change difficult. Yet there are already pioneers all over our country who show that it is possible. Innovators who not only produce food but also an attractive landscape. In this book, these landscape farmers are in the spotlight. Twenty farmers, portrayed in the landscapes they produce, tell a positive story in this book. hopeful and inspiring story. They are forerunners that give flowery field margins, hedgerows and hedges a role in their business operations. With plenty of opportunities for insects, birds and people. The Dutch landscape may have been stripped down mainly under the influence of intensive agriculture, but these farmers show how beautiful it can be again. The farmer of the future already exists!
Berno Strootman is the initiator of this book. He is a landscape architect and advised the cabinet from 2016 to the end of 2020 in his role as National Landscape Advisor. in Panorama Nederland (2018) he outlines his vision of the future of our landscape in the form of a New Deal between farmer and society. He organized the Bread and Games competition for the renewal of the countryside and organized three pilots with farmers, researchers and designers.

Bergen architectuur De Amsterdamse School voorbij
This book aims to provide a broad overview of the versatility of the architecture of Bergen Noord-Holland, as a blueprint for the developments of Dutch architecture in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The invisible red line in the book is the metamorphosis from sleepy farming village to enclave of artists and open-air museum of architectural styles. The carrier is the selection of 22 buildings, which are exemplary for this. This so-called canon of Bergen is widely measured in text and image.
In addition to the unsurpassed villa neighbourhood of Park Meerwijk, relatively unknown buildings by the best Dutch architects such as H.P. Berlage and J.B. van Loghem and later Herman Hertzberger, Jo Coenen, Thijs Asselbergs and Ben van Berkel selected. John Lewis Marshall’s photographs and texts with connections to the many valuable social-cultural aspects of Bergen, but always in relation to architecture and spatial development, result in a unique book.
Marcel Teunissen
Drs. Marcel Teunissen (The Hague, 1961) is an architectural historian specializing in The Hague’s and Rotterdam architecture and urban planning of the 19th and 20th centuries. In recent years he has focused on the architecture of Dutch hospitals. which has led to publications about the Sint Maartenskliniek in Nijmegen and the Meander Medical Center in Amersfoort. He has been active as an independent researcher since 2008. lecturer student counselor at the TU Delft, publicist and excursion leader.
Maarten and Jetty Min Owners of Min2 building art from Bergen. They have been committed to mapping all Bergen architecture for years. This led, among other things, to the publication of the architectural guide Bouw-kunst in Bergen (20I3). Eventually the ambition grew to go further and make the overview book that is now being published.

When we talk about the Dutch photographic heritage and Dutch photography, which photography and which makers are we talking about? And who is not being talked about? Whose heritage is given the right to exist and get acknowledged in the museum and precisely whose heritage is not seen or acknowledged? Imagination goes beyond showing work about representation.
The 23 image makers are given a stage in Imagination to show their relationship to the world in their own way. The works shown in the accompanying exhibition in the Dutch Photomuseum and the book (Dutch and English editions) have been selected in the first place on the basis of quality, distinction and the strength of the makers who create their own world in their work. Photographers with their own signature, who question the world to convey the visual story of representation.

Johan van der Keuken
tekst Frits Gierstberg
For several years now, the Nederlands Fotomuseum has managed the estate of Johan van der Keuken (1938 – 2001). Van der Keuken was a Dutch filmmaker, photographer and essayist who made a name for himself at home and abroad with his photos, photo books and films that emphatically move between visual poetry and documentary. One of his works We are 17 from 1956 is included in the Gallery of Honor of Dutch Photography. From October 7, 2022 to February 5, 2023, the Dutch Photomuseum is organizing a major exhibition with the work of Johan van der Keuken. An extensive book is published in a Dutch and English edition.
Johan van der Keuken’s work is generally considered part of the tradition of Dutch documentary photography and film, in which the humanistic view is central. His extremely sensitive view, the emphasis on the importance of concentrated watching and observation and visual thinking, make him a unique photographer-filmmaker in Dutch post-war history.
The book that the enthusiast eagerly awaits!

Proud South is a mesmerizing visual experience that celebrates the creative forces from the southern parts of the planet. Through the colourful and expressive lens of contemporary fashion, photography, styling and art, Lidewij Edelkoort and Lili Tedde bring together emerging and established talents from wide and far, illustrating that the axis of global creativity has indeed dramatically shifted.
Edelkoort has investigated multiple themes that connect sensational talents that hail from Latin America, Africa, South Asia and South East Asia. Not defined by maps, hemispheres or the rigid fashion system of the north, PROUD SOUTH represents an emancipated international movement. As Edelkoort observes, “A southern generation of creatives is standing up, expressing local craft, embracing regional materials, recognising ancestral practices and cherishing indigenous values.” A sense of excitement is discernible throughout this unique book, so palpable that Edelkoort says it feels “like being in a pressure cooker, creating local flavours with a sense of urgency.”
PROUD SOUTH includes essays from noteworthy contributors such as writer and journalist Modupe Oloruntoba, textile and craft activist Kavita Parmar, author and collector Keith Recker and fashion artist Carla Fernandez with her strong manifesto. Profiles highlight several influential talents, including Moroccan photographer Mous Lamrabat, Senegalese artist Omar Victor Diop, Indian label Pero and Xhosa knitwear brand Maxhosa. Photographic essays illustrate southern pride with gusto, from the work of renowned Jackie Nickerson to the unpublished series of Carrot Picker Girls by Neville Trickett. An additional portfolio in black and white explores the history of photography in the southern regions, decrypting the origins of the current flurry of talent.

Bas Losekoot
tekst Ilja Leonard Pfeiffer en Maite van Dijk
Bas Losekoot became known for his street photos showing the individual in megacities. Streetview shows a new selection of his long-term project, inspired by the start of the ‘Urban Millennium’, which he started more than ten years ago in New York. He photographed for a long time in the streets of New York, Sao Paulo, Seoul, Mumbai, Hong Kong Kong, London, Lagos, Istanbul and Mexico City, to document the consequences of extreme population density on human behavior. This book is therefore a worldwide time document of modern urban experience, showing how we survive in cities that sometimes don’t seem made for people.
By combining daylight and artificial light in a special way, the images appear staged, but they are never staged. The images seem to reveal, in an almost intimate way, mini-dramas that would normally pass the naked eye. His work is about feelings that all recognize as soon as we enter the stressful dynamics of the street, such as isolation, alienation and loneliness. How do we deal with the large amount of stimuli that we get to process in daily city life? What do we show of ourselves in the daily masquerade?
llja Pfeiffer wrote an essay for this book. Among other things, he writes:
If there is one phenomenon that both symbolizes and explains the success of the human species, it is the city. If there is one phenomenon to be named that both makes visible and causes the threat to the future of the human species on Earth, it is that same city.

Black Holes
Julien Sunyé
Arnon Grunberg
Is the war really over? That is the question that photographer Julien Sunyé asks himself when he sees all the violence around him. Whether it is economic war, the civil war in Syria or climate change, Sunyé has the impression that humanity is caught in a destructive dynamic. This is despite all the annual celebrations of peace on the European continent.
It prompts him to visit the battlefields of Europe to document the fragility and softness of humanity in environments where the violent past is still healing.
Julien Suny, (Amsterdam, 1982)

During the day his studies and between work through, equipped with pen, he regularly travels the world with paper and camera. In 2016 he starts a photography study in Paris. After a few weeks he decides to put it up and embark on his own project Black Holes.

essay Arnon Grunberg
Stories are told in the theatre. Stories that touch us, confront us with ourselves, the other and society. Stories that give meaning and hold up a mirror, always in a different way. In this way we, the public, can reflect on ourselves and the world around us, with a smile or a tear.
Van Meer finds it fascinating to record these stories, to depict the magic of the theatre. It is always a challenge to capture the power of a performance, the emotion of an actor, the beauty of a dancer in a stilled image. An image that, apart from the performance, also has a right to exist and tells its own story.
His journey began in 1991 with Dutch National Ballet, where Rudi van Dantzig gave the first major commission, followed by a collaboration of more than 10 years. Since then he has worked with many theater and dance companies and his work for Joop van den Ende Theater Productions and Disney Theatrical Productions has led to an international career, with one leg in Europe and one leg in America.
Dane van Meer (1963) studied philosophy at the Free University of Amsterdam. He works as a freelance theatre photographer for big theatre companies at home and abroad and is self-taught. He has taught at the Royal Academy for Arts (KABK) in The Hague and has held numerous board positions within organizations active on the field of photography. His work has been published in numerous publications and presented in individual and group exhibitions.

De nieuwe kust
Michael Rhebergen
In ‘De Nieuwe Kust’ (The New Coast) photographer Michael Rhebergen takes you along the imaginary new coastline of the Netherlands.
Given the reputation of our country in the field of water management, the title of this book has an almost logical, feasible and perhaps even seductive ring to it. After all, the manufacturability of our landscape is a typically Dutch product. For centuries, dikes, flood defences, pumping stations and other systems have enabled us to successfully live where we want and – almost independently of what the country has to offer – to live how we want. The coast itself evokes a feeling of longing in many: a romantic image of the limitless sea, the endless sand and the free horizon. It is not without reason that we are prepared to travel far for a stay on the coast and, if necessary, to brave long traffic jams.
But in the case of photographer Michael Rhebergen’s research, the term ‘the new coast’ turns out to be something disturbing: a new coastline is pressing on us. It seems almost inevitable in the face of climate change, defying our propensity for control. In many countries this is a process that has actually threatened residents’ lives for decades, but in the Netherlands many of us still treat this image as a distant and probably solvable future perspective. Michael was triggered by the question of what awaits us in the Netherlands and what that means for the people who live here.
When the sea level rises to a level that the country is not prepared for, the Netherlands is given a new face and there is ‘a new coast’.
Michael Rhebergen (1987) is an independent documentary photographer and visual researcher. He mainly works on long-term personal projects that are (inter)nationally published. His project De Nieuwe Kust was published as a series in De Groene Amsterdammer and was exhibited in the summer of 2021 at the international art route of the lJsselbiënnale.

Who are these people who are committed to their profession? If you’re somewhere in the middle of a theater hall and watching a dance performance, you see moving bodies. The dancers are almost anonymous, exchangeable for an outsider. I show dancers up close. While they are dancing and improvising, outside in nature. While doing what they love. I choose a moment when they make themselves vulnerable.
The dancers I photographed are mostly students and alumni of ArtEZ, bachelor’s degree program for modern and contemporary dance. They form a very diverse group: women and men with different nationalities, ethnic backgrounds and, which is not always obvious within the dance world, with different body types.

Ik ben er is a striking photo book that depicts the unyielding journey of an artist duo in 352 photos and in which the moving person at the centre of society is central. Nude and vulnerable: A selection of twelve images from the series won this year’s Silver Camera in the category Art, Culture and Entertainment.
Since March 2020, choreographer Joost and photographer David Peskens have been traveling through our country together, during a period when theatres, museums and concert halls had to close their doors to keep corona out. Inspired by the one and a half meter measure, Joost gave an unannounced performance in public space in all 352 municipalities. His podium consisted of no more than two red ropes, laid out like two circles on the floor. David documented with his camera. This resulted in a special series of 352 images that allow the reader to look at our country in a different way and show a maker in all his vulnerability. Three writers (Petra Stienen, Lana Nasser and Bram Verelst) each in their own way add a deeper layer to the journey of Joost and David.
How will this period be remembered twenty years from now? Which social changes as a result of the corona crisis are permanent? One thing is certain: Our country is in transition. What remains is this book, which provides a kaleidoscopic picture of a country in imbalance.
Joost Vrouenraets is an internationally operating choreographer and works like a child of our time within and beyond the boundaries of his own discipline. His choreographies are shown on large and small stages worldwide He makes works for companies such as Béiart Ballet Lausanne, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and National Ballet of Vietnam. His work is about the juxtaposition of the vulnerability and virtuosity of man in the complexity of a highly personal and cultural, socio-political context. body plays a role in this dichotomy; a role that intensity. embodies tear and wonder.
David Peskens is more than just a photographer. He nuances inspires and researches relevant social themes. With his modestbut at the same time sensational - work he creates visual stories in which the relationship between people and public space impressively displayed. In addition to his autonomous projects, he stories for National Geographic Magazine. His work has been awarded with respectable prizes, including the Zilveren Camera and Hasselblad Master.

The extraordinary will take care of itself
Lena
Lena Konstantakou (Athens) is a photographer. she studied in London (Art&Design and graphic design).
Lena Konstantakou used to be a self-proclaimed city girl at heart and kidneys. Living in London, she had become accustomed to the constant activity, so when she moved to a small port town outside Athens in 20 IO, it was the change of pace and energy that struck her the most. This place was quieter than any where she’d lived before, and the days were shaped by a palpable slowness. Looking to connect with both this unknown territory and the people who live there, Konstantakou felt compelled to pick up her camera and walk along the coast. More than a decade later. the photographs in this book are the result of those explorations.
In The extraordinary will take care of itself. Lena Konstantakou accompanies us on a journey through this waterfront spot. From the glittering hinterland to the heated beach, from winding dirt roads to social images. She transforms ordinary moments into extraordinary images. Taking pictures became her way of getting to know this place intensely. This book highlights the wonders of the ‘home’ she has come to love, and turned out to be a meditative form for getting at home in a new environment.

Miriam Slaats had to contend with to her an incomprehensible conflict situation that completely knocked her out of balance. The grief and having to let go had a major impact on her life and work. To get through this situation, Slaats has sought out nature. Long walks and the connection with ‘the circle of life’ have helped her to see herself again as an essential individual of the world. she lost loved ones but rediscovered herself...
During the walks, Slaats ‘painted’ her words and photographed the power of nature. In an inspiring collaboration with Giselle Segura Gelink (designer), the elements, word, image and form, have merged into an ‘art bible’, which bears the title PASO A PASO (step by step). An inspiring bundle for anyone seeking reflection in this hectic world.
Miriam Slaats (multidisciplinary artist) Completed her studies at the art academy of Maastricht in 1988.
She became famous with her expressive colourful paintings.

Immediately after the Second World War (1939-1945) almost every Dutchman is someone who has worked as a forced laborer for the Germans. At that time, just over 9 million people lived in our country. Approximately 600,000 of them, mostly young men, were employed by the Germans for a short or longer period of time during the war years. That’s 1 in 8 men! But do we know their stories?
Kees Maas was put to work in Berlin. In diaries he wrote meticulously about his life. The bombing of the city had a major impact impact on his existence there. At the same time he meets his future wife there Martha. She was German, which was not easy when she returned to the Netherlands. After the death of his father and mother, Ton Maas immerses himself in the diaries and reconstructs Kees’s life during the war years. A unique picture of the struggle of a man and a woman who found love for each other under particularly difficult circumstances.
There is little attention for the people who during the Second World War were forced to work for the Germans. The forced labourers. This book tells the story of one of them.

Berlijn HISTORY
Opera’s
This adventurous and richly illustrated handbook about Dutch operas in the Baroque period up to and including the French Period puts all existing ideas about the Dutch opera culture upside down. The Netherlands was since 1644 a pioneer in the field of opera and from 1733 exported opera composers such as the Alkmaarder Willem de Fesch to London, the Haarlem Mulligen brothers to France and the Leiden baron Gottfried van Swieten to Austria. Metastasio complimented Josina van Boetzelaer on her compositions on his lyrics. Belle van Zuylen posthumously became an icon of the women’s movement and inspired Count Jacob Jan van Wassenaer Obdam to create an opera based on her novel Le noble. In the age of the Freemasons, Mozart started his first, completely forgotten opera Artaserse in The Hague! The story around Beethoven’s alleged Zutphen birth is discussed and his forgotten first opera experiment Vestas Feuer was reconstructed especially for the book by Cees Nieuwenhuizen. All composers are introduced with a biography, after which their operas are discussed with a closing discography. The two CDs in the 500 page book contain an anthology of operas by Vondel/Bidloo, Hendrik Anders, David Petersen, Servatius De Koninck. Elias Bronnemuller. Johan Mulligen, Gottfried van Swieten, Johan Just, Jean des Communes and Beethoven/Nieuwenhuizen.
Music philosopher René Seghers has been publishing since 1997 articles and photos about music in magazines as diverse as Opera quarterly. The Record Collector. De Groene Amsterdammer. Oor, Pianist and Luister up to and including The New York Times. Eindhoven Variomatic tells about a search for what this city is in makes its spatial appearance special. The question is whether with all super plans to solve the housing challenge and densification in the centre will an urban identity be created with an Eindhoven character? Unconventional and open in nature. Where residents and newcomers recognize and from which you can read that Eindhoven is a city of experiment and imagination vibrating for young and old and made for all speeds. In this book it is argued that to build this city of tomorrow you must know yesterday’s Eindhoven well in order to be able to make suitable choices now. By continuously switching between past, present and future an inspiration is released that makes a characteristic Eindhoven possible. An urban identity that manifests itself in particular in the centre manifests itself through an inclusively designed public space. In which the combination of the Eindhoven stone and the Brabant landscape together with special buildings such as Lichttoren, Evoluon, Blob and new ‘specials’ testify to the future-oriented identity of this city. With more living for everyone and visibility of Brainport.
