G’Day from the penners for May 2023, I know I say it every year, but boy! isn’t the year flying by, again. This month’s poem was written by Peter Wilding, a clever little chap who keeps us guessing at our group meetings, one never knows how he will approach the subject at hand, he certainly keeps us on our toes. Hope you enjoy this little ditty from him.

Good Morning or G’day?

When do you say “Good Morning”? And when do you say “G’day”?

It’s hard to tell these days With all the development out our way. You’re walking along and you greet someone In the cheery country way, And they give you this weird look Like they’re thinking “What did he say?”

Further along you see someone else; A townie, so you’d think, A “Good Morning” kind of person, Not one for a nod and a wink. So, you give the formal greeting. But your feelings kind of sink, When you get a “G’day” back from them. Oh dear, what must they think!

Then you see a mate you know well, And you give a hearty sigh. Safe here! I know this fella, He’s definitely a “G’day” guy. You exchange that Aussie greeting, And your feelings soar on high. But he can’t talk – gotta go now! So, you wave a sad goodbye.
