Hello all,
I have been on leave for the last two weeks but have now returned and caught a drink driver at excessive speed on my first night back (Anzac day).

Since the last article there have been some minor changes to e scooter laws:
Legal e-scooter use
You can legally ride an e-scooter in Victoria if:
•you ride on shared-use paths (not on footpaths) and roads up to and including 60km/h
•you are at least 16 years old
•you wear a helmet
•you do not travel more than 20km/h
•you do not use your mobile phone
•you do not carry a passenger (dinking).
Legal e-scooter definition
A legal e-scooter is defined as a vehicle designed for use by one person and:
•has a maximum speed capability of 25 kilometres per hour when ridden on level ground
•transports a person while the person is standing
•has 2 wheels (one in front of the other)
•has a footboard between the front and rear wheels
Inverleigh Red Cross News
With your support, Red Cross can be there for people and communities.
In 2022, we made a difference to so many lives. We supported more than 300,000 people before, during and after disasters. This could be through our Register. Find. Reunite service, or our people on the ground during fires and floods. After events we provide Psychological support to people, sometimes for YEARS after a traumatic event. 2019 fires is one example of this, and is still ongoing.
Red Cross provide support for migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum. 47000 plus people received support from 165 countries.
We also don’t forget those that need help to escape domestic violence providing emergency relief payments. As March was Red Cross Calling month, Inverleigh collected $1093.00 at the Bannockburn supermarket where our volunteers sat on several occasions. This money goes towards SO many local community needs.
These monies help with Patient Transport to
•is steered by means of a handlebar
•can be propelled by one or both of the following:
• one or more electric motors hospitals and medical appointments, deliver meals to those in need. 180,000 meals were delivered in 2022 alone.
• person pushing one foot against the ground.
An e-scooter that falls outside the scope of this definition is considered an unregistered motor vehicle and is liable to significant penalties. In particular, the e-scooter must not exceed the maximum speed capability of 25 kilometres per hour.
I have also had some complaints of off road motorcycles being ridden by youths in the vicinity of Cleveland Drive and one related to them being ridden at night in the dark.
Off road motorcycles can only be ridden on private property or authorised motorcross tracks only. For a motorcycle to be ridden on the road or on public land (The Common) motorcycles need to be registered and the riders licensed. Heavy fines apply for unlicensed and unregistered.
Help is also given to people needing social support. 225,000 hours were given to social support in 2022 and 1300 hours supported in the justice system.
