Inverleigh Historic & River Walks Brochure Hits the Streets

It is with great pride that the Inverleigh Historical Society and Inverleigh Progress Association present the public with Inverleigh’s very own walks brochure. In it you will find a brief history of Inverleigh, a historic loop walk along the main street and parks with information about 23 sites, and a map showing five river walks with their lengths and degrees of difficulty. The River Walks map includes information about the river environs and township streets to help with planning walks.

The photo shows the brochure committee (left to right) Katrina Robson, Val Robertson, Christine Windle, Liz McDonald and Bronwyn Price admiring the finished product.

The brochure was a project of the Inverleigh Historical Society. It was included in the priority projects listed in the Inverleigh Community Plan which was developed by the Inverleigh Progress Association. Seed funding associated with the Community Plan from the Golden Plains Shire was used to support the production of this beautiful and useful brochure. The brochure went through many stages of development and checking with many community members both long term and recent arrivals contributing ideas, content and feedback. We are grateful to everyone for their help.

We would like to thank Holly Windle of Inverleigh who designed the brochure. Her professional assistance every step of the way from helping us to clarify our vision to developing a beautiful and functional information brochure for visitors and locals alike was outstanding. The brochure is available from every outlet in Inverleigh. We have received so much positive feedback about how great it is to have something for tourists to help them enjoy our beautiful town. Visitors from Mildura and Melbourne commented that they tried a new run because of the map giving them all the details of the tracks. Visitors from Bannockburn are planning to come over to Inverleigh for lunch and go on the historic walk.

So grab a copy today and enjoy our beautiful walks and history.

JOHN CROWE

LOCAL AND LISTENING TO THE COMMUNITY

My name is John Crowe, and I am nominating as a candidate for the Golden Plains Shire Council Elections 2024. I am a resident at Inverleigh and have been for 63 years. I am married to a soldier’s settlers’ daughter and raised three boys who had a great lifestyle growing up at Inverleigh. I have been involved in the local school, sporting and community organisations. Currently, I am an active member of the Inverleigh Leigh Valley Lions Club, serving on the executive committee. My professional background was in senior accounting and administration roles in building, tourism and hospital fields.

If elected as your councillor, I would listen to, and understand your concerns. I believe my professional skills will greatly assist me in assessing the financial viability of all policies for economic benefit of you the ratepayer.

I would adopt a balanced approach on key areas of Council policies, such as budget, rates, road maintenance, asset management, community groups, seniors and youth opportunities, to name a few. As the Shire is in a rapid growth phase, there is a big responsibility that Council makes the right decisions affecting the environment today, so that the Golden Plains Shire continues to be a great place to reside in. I would welcome the opportunity to play a part in this role. I would appreciate and thank you for your vote.

I particularly enjoyed the Calendar article this month focusing on "working Bees".

The volunteers in our community often go unnoticed and unrewarded for their efforts supporting the local community. Without volunteers, our community would become very stagnant and isolated. Please look around and see the many opportunities available to help out . In times of crisis volunteers step up to help out and protect our community. I encourage everyone to read Page 18 and the short article about "Community Emergency Hub". May be that something you could volunteers for? where's Maggie?

Working Beesthe Mainstay of our Community

The photo featured for October in the Inverleigh Historical Society 2024 Calendar shows a working bee to build the grandstand at Victoria Park.

The picture shows a group of people of all ages at a working bee at the beginning of work on the Victoria Park Pavilion. A Pavilion meeting had been held in 1913 where it was decided to take Mr J Donovan’s drawing to an architect. The architect’s design was rejected in 1914 because it would cost more than £100. Not deterred, locals built the pavilion at working bees. In 1919 it was reported that the committee was raising funds to ‘improve the pavilion’. No doubt at another working bee.

supervised and led by volunteer local builder, Jack Bath. Members of local sporting groups attended and used magnificent Oregon pine timber that Jack had sourced from the Geelong wool stores.

Working bees often featured excellent morning and afternoon teas to sustain the workers. This was also provided by volunteers. Note the women in aprons in the photo, fresh from sandwich making and sponge cutting. Children of all ages attended working bees simply because their parents were there. They usually had a very fine time playing and some of them helped with suitable jobs as well. In the 1980s children collected stones in buckets to clear the area for the future ovals at the new sporting complex.

The sporting complex was officially opened in 1986, replacing Victoria Park as the venue for football, cricket and other sporting events. Regular weekend working bees for framing and roofing the building were

The Inverleigh Early Learning Centre began its life in the Inverleigh Public Hall and later moved to the current site where an old Airforce hut was placed in 1979. One working bee still vivid in memory is the long day when half a dozen fathers used two hand mixers to prepare and pour 16 cubic metres of concrete for the verandah and foundations.

Before the second world war tennis was played where the garage is now. The club faded during the war and the McMillan family went on to start a garage on the site. Harold Allen of Western Stores (now the building with White Lotus, Grant Bakery and Malcom Condie’s Real Estate Agency in it) donated the land where the tennis court is currently. Years of working bees resulted in one court and a tennis shed for our

local players. After 1974, when the Bannockburn Shire acquired the land, there was more official support but working bees have continued to develop the facilities including the current clubhouse.

Many working bees improved life for the school children, with many mothers contributing to covering the new library books over the years. The school grounds used to be maintained by parents with regular working bees attended by whole families.

Right from 1865 the Inverleigh Mechanics Institute held working bees for clearing, painting, fencing and improving the grounds and facilities. Willing workers prepared the site, transported bricks and assisted with setting up the new cream brick hall which opened in 1959 as the Inverleigh Public Hall. The old kitchen and storeroom at the Hall were demolished at working bees in 2000 to make way for the Community Room, new kitchen, storeroom and verandah.

So many trees have been planted at working bees organised by Landcare, the Open Space Committee, the Progress Association, the Victoria Park Committee, the school and other groups. The Pump shed and pipes on the Leigh River, with its two-pipe delivery for quicker filling, are the result of working bees by the Inverleigh Progress Association members. The Inverleigh Nature Conservation Reserve would be a mass of boneseed if not for the decades of working bees held by the Friends Group.

Working Bees are still going strong today. Any day of the week you might see the RSL members working on their building and grounds. The Public Hall is about to have working bees to prepare and restore the site around the new storage shed. The Golf Club members are dedicated to improving their course and facilities. The examples are endless because every group benefits from working bees, and volunteers benefit too as they cement their connections to Inverleigh and community.

Rob is a WW1 buff with a passion for researching military history. He is a member of the Western Front Association and of the Inverleigh Historical Society.

The 143 stories in this book are of WW1 soldiers from the Inverleigh and Murgheboluc districts. Their experiences are representative of the overall AIF experience. A summary of the war, the use of many contextual and personal images, and a clear engaging style make this book military and local history at its best.

Carolyn Wilson’s 40 Years at Shelford Primary School

Carolyn Wilson serves as the exceptional Business Manager at Shelford Primary School. Her dedication and commitment to helping others are to be admired. In Carolyn’s time at Shelford Primary she has established strong connections with both the school community and families. On 18th September we celebrated Carolyn’s huge achievement of 40 years at the school. People reflected on how she brightens everyone’s day through her thoughtful gestures, such as making cakes and slices for staff and donating puzzles and games for students.

Despite being on-site only one day a week, Carol frequently volunteers her time for fundraising efforts and other initiatives that benefit the school community. Additionally, Carolyn and her husband Ross are esteemed member of the Shelford Country Fire Authority (CFA) and are highly respected within the community.

Congratulations to Carolyn on this remarkable achievement. We are immensely proud of her at Shelford Primary School and deeply appreciative of her valuable contributions.

Community Emergency Hub Update October 2024

It will take a long time to establish all the protocols for a Community Emergency Hub for Inverleigh.

Importantly this is NOT an evacuation centre but an information and care hub in a disaster situation providing reliable information for locals.

Discussion so far has considered location within the township for such a gathering, evaluating the facilities needed and safety of access. Locals, CFA and SES at the latest meeting thought a hub would be beneficial for our residents and are considering how the group can be auspiced under an existing organization.

We will apply for the Federal/State funding available for the Emergency Kit and extra infrastructure and proceed with working through the checklist. In the meantime remember to fill out your own emergency plan and have enough provisions at home to last 72 hours isolation as recommended.

High drama in the Reserve: the Cuckoos are back!

Every Spring, Inverleigh Reserve sees the return of birds which birdwatchers love to see, but which are feared by the local resident birds. Cuckoos are well-known for not building a nest (there are exceptions) but for laying their eggs in the nest of other species, leaving the ‘host’ birds to feed and raise their young. They time their arrival with the breeding season of the local birds, having travelled from northern Australia or from the islands further north.

The commonest cuckoo we see is the Fan-tailed, a handsome bird about 25cm tip to tail. It is smooth grey on the back with warm cinnamon colouring on the chest. Like all cuckoos, it has a striped undertail, a good ID pointer as these birds sit very still and can be tricky to locate, despite their constant call – a downward mournful trill. They lay their eggs usually in dome-shaped nests – of fairywrens, honeyeaters and scrub-wrens. A smaller cuckoo, the Shining-Bronze, also parasitises small songbirds. It is often heard in the Reserve but more easily seen around the townships, preferring to sit in the open on telephone wires to advertise for a mate, with a persistent “dog-whistle” call. At the end of summer, the cuckoos will head north again, leaving at least some of the local birds to raise their young.

In the Reserve, and all over the world, the battle between cuckoos and their hosts is a continuing one. In a later article we’ll look at some of the fascinating ways that birds are evolving to outwit the cuckoos and how the cuckoos are responding.

Come and join some Friends of the Inverleigh Nature Conservation Reserve for two outings:

• Sunday October 13 Wildflower Walk 2.00 –4.30 pm. Meet at Common Rd entrance.

• Sunday October 20 Bird Walk. The cuckoos will still be here!

Facing tough conditions? Don’t go through it alone

Media release: 2 September 2024

Agriculture Victoria is encouraging farmers to take up ongoing support and assistance to help manage current difficult seasonal conditions.

Agriculture Victoria’s Aimee McCutcheon said Agriculture Victoria continues to monitor conditions across the state.

‘We know there’s been below average rainfall across most of Victoria during autumn and winter and that it’s a critical time for cropping, livestock and dairy production.

‘It’s important that farmers know that support is available to them to help make early and informed decisions.

Ms McCutcheon said the Agriculture Victoria website explains what support is available to farmers, including financial support and assistance, mental health and wellbeing support.

‘One example is the Australian Government’s Farm Household Allowance which is a fortnightly payment for eligible farmers.

‘Our website also provides access to other organisations that can help, such as the free services from the Rural Financial Counselling Services and the National Centre for Farmer Health.’

Ms McCutcheon said Agriculture Victoria offers extensive practical information, resources, tools and calculators to help farmers with forward planning, feed budgeting and livestock management.

‘All these free resources are available online 24 hours a day, or you can speak with staff at your local office.’

Visit the Agriculture Victoria website today – agriculture.vic.gov.au for more information plus details of events coming up in your region or online.

22 Leigh News POLICE REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER

Hello all,

As shown in a video in a recent post on the Inverleigh & Surrounds Facebook page we have still been having issues with youths riding powered push bikes around the Inverleigh township being abusive to shopkeepers, customers and residents. I was appalled by the language used by a youth in the footage and as I have detailed in the past this has been occurring for some time and not just in the main street but also in local streets where other residents have also encountered abuse.

some police motor bikes and the Highway patrol to frequent the town which some of you might have noticed and that will continue in the foreseeable future. The rules regarding electric bikes are easily looked up on the Vic Roads website and I have also posted the rules outside the Inverleigh general store notice board. They are as follows:

Your bicycle may be a motorcycle.

Your motorised bicycle cannot be defined as a bicycle if it meets one of these conditions:

Unfortunately, youths are being given access to petrol and electric add on kits to bicycles which they are turning into quite powerful motorbikes, and they are doing ridiculous speeds both on road and on off road paths. They are riding erratically on and across local roads and the highway, riding in the dark late at night often in dark clothing and as many residents are telling me from their behaviour it is only a matter of time before one of them is hurt or killed in an accident.

Now I have been identifying various youths from footage I and others have obtained and visiting families and informing them of their children’s behaviour, the rules around electric scooters and bikes etc. If community members know the families of the youths, feel free to let them of the poor behaviour you observe because this behaviour needs to stop and access to these types of bikes need to be taken away and only with Police and community pressure will that occur. They seem to have an obsession of wanting to draw the attention of police and then to flee through reserves, across the federation bridge, along the fire tracks etc. I have arranged for

• It can't be used by pedalling only (with no help from a motor).

• It has a combined output of more than 200w (excluding EPAC bicycles).

Instead, it would be defined as a motorcycle.

In the lead up to Christmas do not buy your children electric scooters if you do not know the rules, basically under 16 they cannot ride them on roads/ footpaths etc at all.

Don’t buy petrol kits push bikes it makes them a motor bike and they can’t be ridden either. E bikes rules are listed in this article, and these add on kits are being given make them too powerful and some kids are riding 45 to 65 km/h on them and bragging about that and are seeking more powerful units.

I am over the excuse from parents that ‘other kids ride them’. Look up the rules before you consider buying any motorised scooter/bicycle!!!! The fines are in the process of being substantially increased due to behaviour of riders and injuries/fatal collisions that are occurring.

I have also arranged for the railway station building to be shuttered up again by the rail authorities due to ongoing damage occurring and the council has attended and cleared away the debris left by youths frequenting the large Cypress tree opposite and the CFA captain also removed the fire pit from the location. The council have removed some lower branches to open up the area under the tree, so it is more visible from the road and further branches are forecast to be removed in the near future. Please know what your children are doing and don’t just leave them to roam about the town because some of them are getting up to mischief regularly. They especially shouldn’t be roaming around late at night.

We recently had an incident with some older youths roaming about the Teesdale primary school grounds at night and some damage occurred to an air conditioner unit. The parties have been spoken to and police action has been taken against one of the youths. This shouldn’t have happened in the first place because the kids shouldn’t have been in the school grounds and the parents should have known where their kids are in the evening.

In relation to another issue I currently have a daughter on her L Plates and I have been a passenger regularly on the highways while she is getting her driving hours up and I have been appalled by drivers overtaking her over double lines and some of the speeds vehicles are doing while passing even though often she is on the speed limit or close to it. I have been taking some registrations down and have visited a few locals about the driving behaviour I have observed. Just because I am not in the police vehicle don’t think I cannot take action just like I have in the past when people have given me footage, images of people over double lines. So be aware when you encounter a Learner on the roads it may be me in the vehicle.

There’s been some recent burglaries, thefts/ attempted thefts from some farm properties in the area and nearby towns so please continue to report suspicious behaviour/activity and consider installing cameras on your buildings/sheds so we may be able to identify suspicious behaviour/suspects.

Keep Safe Chris.

INVERLEIGH CFA NEWS

Time to Prepare

October is a great time to start planning and working on preparing your property and home for the coming summer and fire season.

Currently the landscape looks green and the fire risk is low, things can change quickly though and so far this year our rainfall has been well below its normal amount and as a result the land will dry out quickly when some of the hotter weather arrives. Being drier has resulted in less growth of grass, so the bulk of fire fuel may not be there, like a more normal year, but there will be enough to provide fire fuel and present problems if it were to ignite. This could change if a lot more rain arrives over the next few months but currently the weather pattern looks settled with a dry outlook.

So I would encourage you to take the time and look at the CFA web site and look under the tab “Plan and Prepare”. Here you will find a lot of information that will help make decisions about such things as, how much to clear away from buildings, garden design and plant selection, permits if needed and various other helpful ideas and hints on

how to be well prepared.

There are video’s and garden plans available to help understand what is required to make your property safer and have a chance of stopping one if a fire was to come too or start on you property. The recent strong winds have shown how dangerous big trees are close to buildings and there was endless news footage of emergency workers trying to fix houses with trees on them. There is no need to have large trees so close to a building and with high fire rating days with strong wind and heat, even if there is not any fire, often branches will fall or the whole tree can come down. Smaller trees and shrubs should also be away from buildings along with fire wood and other flammable things that are placed close to building to keep them dry or protected.

So have a look at the web site and see if there are any ideas or suggestions that might help you prepare your place, you might be surprised with what you can learn and take way from it.

THE HON DAN TEHAN MP

Shadow Minister for Immigration and Citizenship Member for Wannon

Authorised by The Hon Dan Tehan MP, Liberal Party of Australia, Parliament House, Canberra

26 September 2024

Labor’s not listening to Wannon about offshore wind

The Albanese Labor Government is ignoring the concerns of the Wannon community about the impact of offshore wind farms on our local environment as it ploughs ahead with its Southern Ocean offshore wind zone.

Federal Member for Wannon Dan Tehan said the Warrnambool and Port Fairy communities were strongly opposed to Labor’s offshore wind farm that will be built in their backyard.

“More than 5000 people signed a petition opposing this project because they had grave concerns about the impact on the pristine coastline, the marine environment, and local marine species,” Mr Tehan said.

“They sent a loud and clear message, and they deserve to be heard.

“It reeks of arrogance that Climate and Energy Minister Chris Bowen has today announced the next stage in the wind farm’s development without listening to the concerns of our community.

“Chris Bowen in his Western Sydney electorate won’t have to live every day with the impact of this project on his local environment, but he should have the decency to listen to the people who will be affected.”

The No Offshore Wind Group member and petition organiser, Richard Conlan, said the local community felt ignored.

“Like a horse with blinkers on, Chris Bowen is just focused on his agenda and he’s not listening to what the people want,” Mr Conlan said.

“I’m angry that we are being walked over with no real answers.

“We have wind turbines all over our district, we are pulling our weight when it comes to renewable energy, and we are just asking that they leave our pristine ocean alone.”

Mr Tehan presented the petition in Federal Parliament in June.

Koala Clancy Foundation

Koala Clancy Foundation has planted 150,000 trees – halfway to our goal of 300,000 koala trees by 2030 - one year ahead of schedule.

In summer of 2020, as bushfires raged across eastern Australia, I realised that ambitious tree planting targets were needed to give local koalas a fighting chance against heat, drought, fires and climate change. So we set a target: To plant 300,000 koala trees by 2030.

At that time it seemed impossible. But the alternative: a future without koalas, was unthinkable.

As soon as we announced our target: 300,000 koala trees by 2030, the community support was incredible. Right across the region, from Teesdale to Little River, large and small corporations, international organisations, sporting teams and

koala trees in 2024. Wurdi Youang Property Manager and proud Gunditjmara man Uncle Reg Abrahams is thrilled with the program.

members of the local community have joined us to plant the 150,000 koala trees.

2472 community volunteers, including 30 corporate teams, have planted the native trees so fast, we’ve reached the halfway point to our target one year early.

Over 16,000 of those trees were planted at Woolbrook, in 2022 & 2023, with the help of many locals. We’ve also been thrilled to hear of several koala sightings around Teesdale in the last two years – locals often send me photos and tag me on facebook.

The Wurdi Youang conservation site at Little River managed by Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative was one of the properties to receive

“I was proud to plant the 150,000th tree on Wurdi Youang, alongside the players from the Melbourne United Basketball team,” said Uncle Reg.

“Koala Clancy Foundation are collaborating with us to help this land, and its wildlife recover, and I am proud to share the history and Aboriginal ecological heritage of Wurdi Youang with the wider community,” he said.

As we move into the second half of our ambitious target, financial support is more crucial than ever. Every tree planted helps koalas survive in our region. This is a legacy for the community to be proud of.

Koala Clancy Foundation's work depends on community and corporate support. Every $10 donated plants one tree. www.koalaclancyfoundation.org.au/donate

TABLE OF CONTENTS

• Grass Seeds

• Relative Age of you Pet in Human Years

• Puppy School at Bannockburn Vet Clinic IN OTHER NEWS Halloween and Your Pet Halloween in Australia has become more popular in recent years.

It’s important to remember while we enjoy various treats as part of the festivities, they can be poisonous for our four legged friends.

Chocolate is highly poisonous and can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, increased thirst, excessive urination, increased heart rate or even seizures. In some cases it can be fatal.

There is a chemical in chocolate called Theobromine which causes the toxicity. The more bitter the chocolate the higher the theobromine content.

Treatment is usually to induce vomiting to reduce the amount of theobromine absorbed into your dog’s body. Depending on the level of poisoning, IV fluids may be needed to flush out the toxins from your dog’s system.

If you believe your dog has ingested chocolate please contact the clinic on 03 5281 1221 or if out of hours contact your nearest Emergency clinic

Grass Seeds

Grass seeds are a common problem and are most prevalent during the spring and summer months. They usually end up in your dog’s eyes, ears or paws but can also be found in other places.

Grass seeds have sharp tips and can easily penetrate your dog’s skin or lodge themselves in your dog’s ears, eyes or paws.

Dogs usually acquire grass seeds during a walk or play in the grass. They can cause a painful swelling which can turn into an abscess.

The swelling will be very irritating for the dog and they often will lick, scratch or chew the area.

Seeing the signs early on will allow for quick treatment. If left untreated there is the risk of having an ongoing issue that can be difficult to get rid of.

If you suspect your dog has a grass seed it’s important to have it treated as soon as possible.

In some cases the vet will need to place your dog under sedation to be able to examine, locate and remove the grass seed. If an abscess has formed sometimes a drain will be placed.

Antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication are often prescribed after removing a grass seed to avoid or treat infection.

Relative Age of you Pet in Human Years

Pets on average age five to eight times faster than humans. By the age of two most pets have already reached adulthood. At age four, many are entering middle age and by age seven many dogs, particularly larger breeds, are entering their senior years.

Because pets age so rapidly, major health changes occur in a short amount of time. The risk of cancer, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, heart disease and other serious conditions all increase with age.

As pets are living longer than ever, chances are many can experience a potentially serious illness during their lifetime.

Annual health checks can help your veterinarian diagnose, treat or even prevent problems before they become life threatening. It is also a great opportunity to ask your vet about nutrition, behaviour, and other issues.

Goodbye Sandy

This month we will farewell Sandy as she heads off into retirement

Sandy has worked at Bannockburn Veterinary Clinic for more than 20 years , and is a familar face for a lot of our clients.

She will be greatly missed by all the staff (especially Dr Peter who initially employed her) and we are not sure how the clinic will run without her!

We wish her all the best in her retirement and look foward to her regular visits to the clinic.

Here are a few examples of how your pet ages in comparison to humans:

Pet Age 0-9kg 9-23kg 23-41kg >41kg bodyweight

7 years 44 47 50 56

10 years 56 60 66 78 13 years 68 74 82 101

A humble beginning for Bannockburn Surgery when it first opened its doors in 1983 – small rooms located between what was the original supermarket and pharmacy.

Soon outgrowing these rooms, they moved in 1986 to 19 High Street with two consulting rooms, a small treatment room and tiny tearoom for its team members. Its current building (16 High Street) was opened in the year 2000 – a purpose-built practice complete with five consulting rooms and a sixth added in 2010.

The practice has grown from strength to strength and has a wonderfully dedicated team of Doctors, Nurses, Reception team and Practice Manager. They also have access to high-quality Allied Health services including podiatry and newly introduced acupuncture with Dr Rimas Liubinas, with plans for more services to follow.

For Bannockburn Surgery who celebrated their forty-year anniversary a few weeks ago, this was a proud milestone. The surgery welcomed back former team members: doctors, nurses, administration staff, and allied health for an evening of festivities reminiscing on the past forty-years and what the future holds for the practice.

The Directors (and Principal GPs) of Bannockburn Surgery would like to take the opportunity to say thank you to those whom have been part of their practice team, past and present. And also extends a warm thank you to patients for ongoing support in entrusting their health to the team at Bannockburn Surgery and their journey.

The surgery has a proud history and is incredibly excited for the future. Not only the future of Bannockburn Surgery, but also in continuing to support the growing community of Bannockburn and its surrounds. The surgery has grand plans and is eagerly awaiting to commence build

Bannockburn Surgery is a fully accredited medical practice that provides comprehensive GP services and have been practising within the community for 40 years. Bannockburn Surgery is the largest practice within the shire.

of their purpose-built facility to be located next door to their current premises.

It is pleased to announce that another GP Registrar will be joining the team from August, Dr Ernest Cheng, which will extend the provision of service even further. They are also very fortunate that their two current GP Registrars; Dr Bushra Akhund and Dr Abhi Selvakumar will be continuing at the practice for an additional six months.

Bannockburn Surgery doctors will be continuing to bulk-bill patients with healthcare cards and pension cards, as well as those under 16 years old.

Appointments are available daily and the doctors are welcoming new patients.

26 September 2024

TGS has officially withdrawn its seismic testing proposal for the Otway Basin.

This decision is testament to the amazing groundswell of community advocacy across our region. Congratulations to all community members who raised their voices and attended the Paddle Out in Torquay, the march through Ocean Grove, and the many events that occurred along our coastline.

You came to me raising concerns about the proponent’s consultation, I acted on your concerns and NOPSEMA did listen.

This is democracy in action. This is coastal communities working together to protect our marine environment.
