Sambourne House Museum Sambourne House lower pane plant stained glass window When Linley and Marion Sambourne moved into their new home in 1875 they immediately redecorated in the fashionable aesthetic style of the day. They adopted many principals of aesthetic design, such as painting stylised flowers onto the internal doors, using Morris & Co. and Japanese embossed wallpapers, buying pieces of aesthetic movement furniture and installing stained glass windows. Linley Sambourne designed all the stained glass himself. The lower panes of the bay window in the morning room are painted in gold with a repeating design of leaves and plants within a multi-coloured border.
