First Meeting Recap

RTC Recap When:

October 1-2, 2016 Where:

Camp Jones Gulch

"RTC is a wonderful experience for a key clubber if you wish to meet new people. For me, it was a great combination of learning about key club while having fun surrounded by nature. Being split into groups with people I didn't know really allowed me to make new friends and learn about how other key clubs worked. By the end, my voice was hoarse from all the cheering and yelling that took place. In my opinion, RTC was definitely worth it and was one of the most exciting events that key club has to offer. " -Matthew Zhang, Vice President

FRN Recap "I think Fall Rally North was one of the most amazing experiences I had in Key Club. As one of the spirit coordinators, I had so much fun planning for the rally and at the rally. When I was preparing for the rally with other spirit coordinators and our LTG, Jacklyn Vo, I was so excited by just imagining how lively and thrilling it would be. However, the actual rally was even better than I expected it to be! I just loved how spirited we were as a division and how we had fun all together. It was honestly just amazing to have a chance to lead the cheer in front of the super villains, all dressed in green and gray. I think Fall Rally North is a very valuable experience since you get to share the fun with everyone in your division and you also get to meet so much new people during the rally. I am already ready for next year’s FRN! Also, for people who did not attend this year’s Fall Rally North, I really recommend you guys to attend next year’s rally because you clearly missed out on so much fun!" - Layla Yun, PC

Past Events Event Name:

FOAM GLOW 5K Date: October 15, 2016 I had been excited for this event since I first became PC in May! I think that the event was hyped up very well because we had 50 members show up (new ones and old, loyal ones)!!! Unfortunately, this event did not go as planned because of the beautiful, unpredictable California weather: RAIN. There was not enough jobs for all 50 members sadly and the event was very cold and wet. But the important thing is that we were all TOGETHER out in the rain! I really hope the members had fun though. Shout out to the the members who got assigned jobs and were out working in the rain and special shout out to Mr. Yum for coming out and helping our club and another special shout out to Parsa for coming early and working very diligently the whole time to help volunteers and runners. The most special shout out to all dedicated 50 members who came and made the best of the event! - Emily Vu, Project Coordinator

Past Events Event Name:

TWFK Envelope Stuffing Date: October 30, 2016 Swishhhh. Crinkle. Crackle. Flumpffff. The oddly satisfying sounds of paper getting folded, stuffed with an envelope, and then stuffed into a bigger envelope cut through the otherwise quiet auditorium, an the low murmur of teenage voices. Momentarily taking a break from the work, I surveyed the room. 40 young faces, some familiar, and others not, methodically sorted through piles upon piles of papers; probably more than two-thousand. We were preparing envelopes to send to a variety of potential donors, on behalf of Turning Wheels For Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping kids enjoy a childhood staple – bikes. I was taken aback a little by the scene; it was a far cry from Fall Rally North that I had just attended one week prior, where hordes of rowdy key clubbers sashayed around yelling and dancing. Instead, with this group, actions really did speak louder than words. And it truly was a sight to behold. When I returned to work, I felt the beginnings of a smile tug at my lips, and a warm feeling start to bubble within me. The simple activity had reminded me of the reason I had signed up for Key Club in the first place; one of the underlying fundamentals of the decades old organization – Service. Serving the community was a welcome reprieve from the various distractions of life. And by the end of the event, I knew I could say: I feel good, oh, I feel so good. -Colin Nguyen, Public Relations
