What’s on today Great Northern Retail Summit 11am: Top 10 Trends for Christmas 2017 Neil McLennan, lifestyle journalist, Living etc. Janet Street-Porter highlighting Brand Britain

Britishness took centre stage at yesterday’s keynote Today, you have speech, part of the Great Northern Retail Forum, as true Brit Janet Street-Porter CBE, the outspoken to offer consumers media personality, journalist and broadcaster, took to something different, the stage to fly the flag for British product. In the current post-Brexit scenario, and with quirky, unique, with the market so saturated, “Made in Britain matters tremendously,” Janet told a packed room of buyers, meaning. You have to “as to do good business and remain competitive we sell them a story must establish ourselves as unique and different, in order to stand out”. Describing Britishness as “quirky and innovative” Janet told retailers that stocking brands with British heritage and a back story was more important than ever. “We’ve reached peak stuff, so how do you sell to consumers who have too much? You have to sell them not just products, but experiences,” she said, “they want to feel the product means something, they want to engage with it, they want something different, quirky, with meaning. You have to sell them a story, to offer them something that truly enhances their lives.” Pointing to her Clarks shoes, and highlighting some of her favourite British brands and designers including Gilbert & George, Tom Dixon, Grayson Perry and Conran, Janet signed off her keynote speech with “I buy British whenever I can”. Turn to page 4 to find out what the retailers and buyers took from this keynote speech.

Celebrating with Xystos!

“Home & Gift is a truly unique buying experience” New show director Louise Morris looks forward to Home & Gift Buyers’ Festival 2018

Having just been appointed official suppliers of Baylis & Harding home fragrance and gifting to independent garden centres and gift shops, Xystos believe the new brand offers “fantastic packaging, a clear understanding of pricing, and one of the most commercial ranges we’ve seen”, says David Lewis, collectables MD, Xystos. Consultant of Baylis & Harding, Mel Pannel, adds: “We supply all the major high street retailers, but we’ve been finding demand from independents and garden centres and by collaborating with Xystos it’s opened up a whole new market for us.”

“We do well with the Xystos brands. We’ve been stocking WoodWick and Cello for a while, we find the WoodWick fragrance of the month does well. It’s also trend-led: we find the darker colours do well in winter and the blues and pinks are good in spring. We’re looking to take on Woods of Windsor. We sell quite a bit of beauty, but we’re looking for a more traditional brand to fit in with our traditional store, and Woods of Windsor fits this.” Christine Pickering, gift buyer, department store Bratt and Evans, Northwich, Cheshire.

UK sales manager Des Docherty and Amy Nisbet, buyer at retailer Watt Brothers, share a glass of fizz. “We began stocking Xystos products three or four years ago and have since brought them to nine of our stores across Scotland,” says Amy. “WoodWick candles is a particularly fantastic brand for us, as is the range of Electric Melt Burners.”

helpful insights into the future of retail. This is what the show is all about - supporting the British retail industry and its suppliers, through networking, advice and a strong platform to sell. We still have two whole days to go – I’m really looking forward to meeting more people, and seeing the rest of the speakers we have lined up. We are already excited for next year and I’m delighted to be joining an event with such a strong community and reputation. I can only build on this for future years and ensure even more retailers get to experience this amazing show.

Show success for Himasal The salt lamp company have had plenty to celebrate at Home & Gift, their very first trade show. As well as securing a deal to supply Keech Hospice in Bedfordshire with their handcrafted lamps, they have also taken a batch of orders at the show. “When we started out, everyone said this was the show to do,” says Bob Travers. “I must say, I have to agree.” Visit them on A8.

“It’s been a year since we appointed Xystos and it’s been doing really well,” says Quentin Higham, managing director of Woods of Windsor, owned by Yardley. Pictured here with Louise Morris, show director of boutique retail event Pulse, Clarion.

Home & Gift is truly unique, it combines a genuinely fantastic atmosphere with a really high standard of quality products. We have already welcomed many familiar faces as well as new exhibitors and guests, which exemplifies Home & Gift’s wonderful reputation and heritage as well as its ability to predict trends and give buyers exclusive ‘first pick’ of the new autumn/winter launches. There have been some excellent speakers at the Retail Forum; Janet Street-Porter gave top tips on how to build and PR a British brand, while Hugo Jenkins from Trouva provided some really

Brit talk Buyers react to yesterday’s keynote speech – Jane Street-Porter on Made In Britain product “It was really interesting, especially the branding stuff, and that it’s important to create a back story. She hit the nail on the head. As retailers we need to think more about this when sourcing products, delivering a story that engages consumers, enticing them to buy more.” Sonya Haandrikion-Sibbald, director (left) and Debbie Grahams, merchandising manager (right), Celebrations, Carlisle

“It was really fascinating to hear from Janet. We’re here at the show to find beautiful products made in Britain, so it was great to get Janet’s perspective on why it’s so important to support homegrown talent and how to build your story around true British brands.” Lisa Glover, owner, Glovers Gifts, Bingham, Nottinghamshire “As retailers, we agreed with Janet that storytelling is really important but that it shouldn’t be too complicated. I loved her idea of tapping into Britishness, like with micro breweries, and because we’re a small quirky boutique in Burton-on-Trent, a real ale town, this has given us the idea of opening a small micro brewerystyle café in-store.”

I love

Home & Gift because …

“...it has a unique atmosphere, which makes doing business a pleasure. It’s a very successful show for Xystos – it’s well-attended and has the right buyers, people are prepared to invest their time and aren’t in a rush.”

Angus to the rescue! Doing your back in is never much fun but for Two Little Boys owner Sarah Watts it threatened her chances of exhibiting at Home & Gift as she couldn’t carry her shelves on the train. Then Angus Gardner stepped in to offer the help of the staff at Caroline Gardner. “I was just tying my shoe laces last Sunday and I felt this rip in my side,” she says, “and I couldn’t move – we might be celebrating 15 years in business but I’m not that old!” “I put out a Facebook post and tweets asking if anyone could help and couldn’t believe the response. Art Nouvocative were the first to offer, Jeremy Corner, from Blue Eyed Sun, Jo Wilson at Dandelion Stationery, Memelou and Lanther Black too. “And Angus got in touch from Atlanta where he’s at AmericasMart and volunteered staff member Katie Finegan to help, so I spent my first day at Harrogate swanning around and buying them biscuits from Betty’s to say thank you – now Bill Greeno on the Meraki stand next door has kindly said he’ll take them all back for us. It’s been really lovely, so sweet of everyone – what a fantastic industry to be part of.”

Happy birthday

Confident that the renovation will happen ‘one day’, for now Andrew is happy to see his Beetle occupying its own corner inside the spacious warehouse of the new premises.

Why choose Home & Gift?

I’ve never done this show before, and I’m keen to meet more northern stockists, as we predominantly show in the south. I love Harrogate and am really looking forward to this show as I have heard such good reports about it.

Sarah Ward is the CEO of the Giftware Association, who have links with Harrogate trade shows stretching back 67 years.

Why are you exhibiting? Having been at Home & Gift every year for almost the past 30 years it’s become something of a fixture, but if it didn’t work we wouldn’t do it.

I

would like to start with a very warm welcome from the Giftware Association to everyone exhibiting and visiting this show. Home & Gift Buyers’ Festival is very close to our hearts, as a recent delve into our 70 year history revealed that, following the formation of the Giftware Association – then known as the Fancy Goods Association – in 1947 by Elkin Simons, his love for exhibitions soon saw the first trade show in 1950 right here in Harrogate. Having started with just 19 members and exhibitors, within five There’s a years the show had more than doubled in size and a huge amount of new home was needed. proud history And it’s great to see connecting how Home & Gift Buyers’ Festival is still seen as one Harrogate and the GA of the biggest trade shows in the UK, which grows year on year. There is a huge amount of proud history connecting Harrogate and the Giftware Association. The GA have had the honour of attending this show for many years and it’s a great way for us to meet our members and also meet with potential new members – this is made especially easy as we launch our annual search for the Gift Of The Year with the competition opening for entries over the exhibition weekend. This year the GOTY competition will be bigger and better than ever, as we’re celebrating its 40th anniversary. Home & Gift is a great way for us to meet

What’s your focus this year? new suppliers who produce exciting and innovative new gifts which are usually a perfect fit for the design-led competition. Look out for the GA team who will be out and about around the halls and marquees at Harrogate, and do feel free to ask us any questions you have about the competition. As always, we will also be on hand to talk about the Giftware Association and what we do as, ultimately, we’re there to help our members’ businesses prosper as well as to find out about prominent issues and concerns they and, of course, non-members face in the industry today. This information helps shape The GA as an organisation and allows us to build our strategy to better help more businesses. We’ll be able to tell you about our services and benefits – such as finance support, copyright protection, marketing, PR, and legal advice – that can help your business thrive and makes the GA the association you can to turn to if you have any questions or queries. Our aim is to get you the right answer or connect you with the people who can help, making The GA an association for the future. Call: 0121 236 2657 ga-uk.org giftoftheyear.co.uk

Describe your company in three words Quality, exclusivity, service.

Trends…? We’ve seen a marked increase in interest in collectables again. We’re not yet back to the heady days of 10 years ago but quality and authenticity seen to be what both retailers and consumers are looking for.

How’s 2017 going? This year retail has held up really strongly, much more so than we expected after Brexit and then the start of a General Election. The bespoke business is also stronger than last year and I think the flexibility of our partners helps with this.

Best thing about the gift industry? Compared with the tableware sector where we also work, the gift industry is much faster moving and the new styles and designs come in and go out much faster. I’ve always enjoyed both sectors but giftware is much more fun!

‘What’s new’ is the biggest question we hear you ask? At Lang’s, we have been very busy designing our latest collections for the autumn/winter season. You could say that we are brimming with excitement with all of the gift ideas we have lined up for you! We have given you a glimpse of some of our favourites and we have many more collections, including sweet teen, a fun vibrant collection of sparkles and sprinkles, the unicorn has been a great range, so we have added some more pieces to tempt you. Your only problem will be wanting to buy it all! THE EVERYDAY COLLECTION They say laughter is the best medicine and some of our new plaques will definitely make you do that! Soft neutral colours mixed with some quirky metal animal heads, lots of oneoff pieces make this collection a stand out from the crowd! HOLLYWOOD GLAMOUR Lights, camera, action! Our inspiration for this dazzling collection comes from Hollywood, V.I.P and Art Deco. Black and gold metallic with a hint of gold sparkle give these pieces sophistication, with added tones of coral and mint to add that touch of femininity. A truly fabulous array of gifts for that very important person. LOVE YOUR HOME Think cosy, warm and snuggling on the sofa, a place to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures in your own sanctuary. This style of living has come from the Danish word Hygge (pronounced Hooga) which translates into English as cosiness. Soft colours of grey and pink complement this range of candle holders, lights and cushions all of which make ordinary everyday things more meaningful and special.

ROSY GLOW The latest hot décor trend, this is a very sophisticated colour that is stealing the spotlight. Its soft feminine hues of pink rose-gold glitter, mixed with champagne gold, bring a truly sumptuous feel to the pieces we have created. Many different items make this a stand-out collection. Our favourite is the gorgeous ‘follow your dreams’ cushion with sequins and pompoms which are another very popular accessory this year. It’s ‘all hands to the wheel’ to create our stand for the Harrogate Home & Gift Fair, lots of paint, glitter and teamwork from all at Lang’s. All we need is a visit from you! We are really excited to show you all of the new collections, along with some of our classics, and our festive Christmas collections will also be making an appearance …… see you there!! Home & Gift Buyers’ Festival Harrogate 2017

Caron Naylor, The Gift House The Gift House is part of the family-run Blacker Hall Farm complex near Wakefield, West Yorkshire, offering gifts, candles, jewellery, scarves, cookware, frames, handbags and cards.

Susan Kerr, Harvey Willis Susan and husband John have been trading as Harvey Willis in Glenrothes, Fife, for almost a quarter of a century, aiming to help people find the perfect present.

What do you love about Home & Gift?

What do you love about Home & Gift?

I love the show because of all the individual hotels and halls that everyone’s in. It makes it a joy instead of going round one big hall. And the food was so much better last year, so well done to catering crew!

There are a number of things – I particularly love the town of Harrogate, the time of year and the intimacy of a smaller show.

What are you looking for this year?

What are you looking for this year?

Some new things, if possible, to introduce to our customers when Christmas comes around.

I’m looking for more baby gifts - and the obvious men’s stuff. We always need men’s gifts, enough said! Oh! And men’s cards too.

What’s on your shopping list at the show?

Any particular trends you’re seeing in gift right now? Crafts and things made in the UK are important just now.

More giftwrap for easy and quick wrapping. Also, even more greetings cards to add to our vast ranges, plus good leather bags and accessories.

In the hope the weather will be glorious, what’s your favourite ice cream or lolly? Hopefully it will have a hint of gin in it to get me round the show all day!

The Daily News caught up with some retailers to find out what makes Harrogate Home & Gift Buyers’ Festival such a key date in their diary Darren Clift, Tates Garden Centres With a family business history in Sussex stretching back to 1601, the Tates chain of three garden centres in Portslade – where Darren is based as a director – Hassocks and Newhaven began in 1982 with horticulturalist Jonathan.

What do you love about Home & Gift? It’s a great opportunity to see smaller and more unique suppliers and get an idea of the trends that are likely to be on the horizon. It’s a growing show that improves every year.

Who are you looking to connect with this year? I always go to Home & Gift with an open mind, more for new product rather than existing suppliers, which is something more for other events in the year.

Any particular trends you’re seeing in gift now? We’re still seeing growth in home fragrance, along with items that light up, be they electrical or by adding a candle or tealight.

What’s your favourite social spot in Harrogate? We don’t normally go to Harrogate but, when holidaying up there, I ate at William & Victoria on Cold Bath Road and enjoyed it very much.

Page 16 D3 Retail Talk.indd 1

What’s your favourite social spot in Harrogate? Indian food is my favourite and fortunately there are a few in Harrogate.

In the hope the weather will be glorious, what’s your favourite ice cream or lolly? Boring old vanilla with a flake – a 99!

Paul Cheshire, White Mint Paul and his partner Chris Dell opened White Mint in their home town of Berkhamsted, Herts, in 2014, with a second in St Albans last year, selling handpicked contemporary home accessories and gifts alongside lovingly-reclaimed vintage pieces.

What do you love about Home & Gift? It’s great to get in early for Christmas, see new products from our favourite suppliers and also find new ones. It’s also a very social show and we love having a cheeky drink at the end of a busy buying day.

Who are you looking to connect with this year? We’re looking forward to seeing the new products from Talking Tables and Sass & Belle and also catching up with the guys from The Grumble & Co.

Any particular trends you’re seeing in gift now? Flamingos, unicorns, mermaids and all things neon seem to be very popular at the moment.

What’s your favourite social spot in Harrogate? We’re staying in York and love a great Spanish restaurant there called Ambiente Tapas.

In the hope the weather will be glorious, what’s your favourite ice cream or lolly?

In the hope the weather will be glorious, what’s your favourite ice cream or lolly?

Would have to be a coffee ice cream for me.

Can’t beat a Magnum!

CARDS

The Art File are launching two brand-new stationery collections at Harrogate Home & Gift – and celebrating their 2017 Queen’s Award for International Trade.

As a company we’ve always recognised the opportunity to export our award-winning products to as many overseas territories as possible

L

overs of cards and stationery are in for a treat on stand DP1-23, as Nottingham-based The Art File showcase their latest launches. First up is an evolution of the extremely popular Call Me Frank Stationery collection, which has been hugely successful in the retail environment since its launch two years ago. This new look complements a new everyday greeting card collection which was launched recently. The second collection is a beautiful female-orientated stationery look called Wild Berry. Again, this is an evolution from the company’s very successful greetings card collections. Both collections will have brand-new

stationery items never launched by The Art File, including File organisers, mouse mats, rubber packs, and more. Alongside their stationery launches, The Art File are incredibly proud to announce a range extension to the ever-popular Natural History

collection by talented illustrator Ben Rothery. Each original piece takes Ben around 40-60 hours to complete. Alongside these exciting launches, new Lettersets, note boxes and more are also planned to be launched at the summer show. You can find The Art File on their newly located stand this year. They very much look forward to seeing you. You can also get in touch by email on sales@ theartfile.com or by calling 0115 850 7490.

Award winners The Art File are absolutely delighted to announce that they have won the 2017 Queen’s Award for International Trade, part of the UK’s most prestigious business awards celebrating and encouraging business excellence. As winners, The Art File have demonstrated outstanding results in international trade, successfully exporting British-made products to over 30 countries around the world. They will be heading down to

Page 18 Profile Artfile.indd 1

Buckingham Palace for an awards ceremony hosted by Her Majesty later this month. The application was spearheaded by The Art File’s father and son team, Ged and James Mace. “Naturally, we’re absolutely thrilled with the news,’ says Ged. “As a company we’ve always recognised the opportunity to export our award-winning products to as many overseas territories as possible. With

all of our products being designed here in the UK, it’s also a fantastic feeling to be showcasing the exceptional quality and design talent of British design around the world.” James adds: “With the added challenges, due to recent events in the UK such as Brexit, it still shows that British products can still achieve success in the export market.”

The Artistry Collection takes its inspiration from the sophisticated art of fragrance. It features a unique style of artwork reflecting the delicate layers of fragrance in the scents. There are six products to choose from in a range of 10 scents, that includes four festive fragrances.

This year is the first the company are offering a Christmas collection, comprising LED ornaments like these stunning penguins, gorgeous beaded fabric decorations, delicate glass baubles and elegant candle holders. Each piece is beautifully hand crafted and thoughtfully designed to bring an understated, luxurious twinkle and magical touch to the home.

Our Cloud Nine range was designed with the metallic and foils trend firmly in mind. This card sums it up nicely!

It’s all glitz and glamour at KitchenCraft, with the introduction of on-trend metallic across its Barcraft collection, with cocktailmaking additions. Retro glitz is an increasingly popular theme for home entertaining and brass and copper elements give a distinctive and glamorous 1970s feel with bold prints adding extra chic.

The power of the lamp Himasal salt lamps are beautiful to look at and offer great health benefits, too. Bob Travers, the man behind the range, offers handcrafted salt lamps from the company’s very own salt mine in Pakistan, and invites you to experience the salt lamps for yourself on their stand.

I

n this disposable age, it’s astounding to come across a product that is 250 million years in the making. Made from solid blocks of ancient crystal salts, Himasal lamps are hand-chiselled and have a beautiful pinkishorange colour thanks to the high concentration of trace minerals contained within the salt. They work by absorbing moisture in the air, and cleaning pollens and allergens from the air you breathe. Bob was already a user of salt lamps. While they’re not a replacement for conventional medicine, many people find they help with breathing, relaxation and assist with sleeping. They’re truly beautiful, too, and extremely tactile.

Page 22 Profile Himasal.indd 1

Many customers have told me they find the lamps a great comfort or shape… both of which are impossible unless you drop it!

“Many customers have told me they find the lamps a great comfort,” says Bob. “You need to experience them yourself to really understand what they’re about. I invite people to come to the stand, to ask questions and enable themselves to make an informed decision.”

He has special offers for new retailers, with a full merchandising visit to train them and their staff in the potential benefits and how to display them to their best advantage. Himasal are working with a company called Colour Studios to build a point of sale stand for each retailer, using strong but light recycled cardboard. Bob’s experience has taught him that customers need to experience the lamps out of their boxes and lit to truly understand their beauty and benefits.

Bob believes in the product so much he guarantees it for ten years and offers a noquibble replacement if a lamp loses its colour

Homewares comin’ home Julie Dodsworth is a British artisan whose lifelong business in her plant and display company gave birth to her homeware business in more recent years. Here she shares her love of her home town Harrogate and all things Yorkshire! “Let’s do Harrogate” my daughter Bethany declares. By “do”, she means take a stand, exhibit and show the world what we have to offer with everything crossed that retailers and lovely buyers will love all we make and create. The declaration comes as we drive the long, cold, dark M1, after setting And, off at silly o’clock to put our stand together at January’s of course, Top Drawer. Harrogate is London was icy cold everyone’s upon our arrival, the favorite layout unfamiliar and a little daunting. A fantastic show followed but the reverse in packing up and getting home then had to be achieved. All aboard, we embarked upon the long haul home. Our London adventure was over and our first solo exhibition was brought to a close. “So let’s do it,” Beth insists. I smile as I know Harrogate will be a very different animal for us. The chance to prepare the painted items in the warmer months of May and June, a delivery run that’s 15 minutes tops, and a wealth of garden flowers in season to show all our inspiration. Harrogate will be our “homewares comin’ home”

show and, of course, Harrogate is everyone’s favourite. It’s a show in an actual town, a place that boasts its own spa and floral backdrop, Fat Rascals (have you tried one yet?) and Yorkshire warmth. Harrogate has its own unique Yorkshire flavour and for sure it’s “a bit special.” Local humour talks of having “Harrogate life problems” – Waitrose have run out dressed lobster – and everyone knows it’s all a tiny bit posh in the loveliest of ways. It’s where I shop, go to choir practice and take my mum for those Rascals. It’s my home. And so here we are a few months along. All painted up, spick and span, set up and ready to go. The build-up tense with last-minute changes, product arriving in the nick of time and all the usual calamities. But we’ll give it our best shot. Do come and see us. We’re on stand DPD23. A friendly wave, smile and hello will make our day. Oh, and do ask us anything you need to know about your après Harrogate day too – I’m sure we can help. So we wish you an amazing day at the show. Enjoy the sunshine, the music, the buzz and the wonderful town and county where Beth and I are so proud to belong.

5 minutes with... PoM Stella Barritt, business development manager & designer DP1-103 What are your top products at the show this year? Our plated jewellery continues to be our top-selling range. It features the contrast of silver and rose gold plated finish, and a contrast of shapes and textures, to add interest. They’re easy-to-wear pieces that can dress up an outfit and make the wearer feel special.

Any big trends you’ve spotted? Our transition scarves are doing well. These have been selected with an autumn/ winter palette in mind, but are lightweight enough to wear if we get an Indian summer. A scarf is a perfect accessory for the unreliable British climate.

How would you describe consumer confidence? With all of us worried about the Brexit effect, we have ensured our prices continue to be really competitive, allowing our customers to mark-up 3.5 to 4 times. We might be feeling a squeeze on our budgets, but we’ll still be looking for gifts or the occasional treat for ourselves…you can be sure that PoM has a range that will always fit the bill.

What are you looking for? Jewellery

Have you been to H&G before & what do you like about it? Yes we’ve been a few times, I love the show atmosphere and the friendliness. It’s definitely worth coming down.

Have you found anything here? I definitely found some bits and things that will sell well in the shop – I ordered from Jola, who do printed textiles. They are a lovely company.

The Daily News caught up with some retailers to find out what makes Home & Gift Buyers’ Festival such a key date in their diary Rachel Buckley

As trade shows go, it’s smart casual and relaxed. Normally with shows we’re very focused about where we’re going in the halls and don’t deviate but here we take our time, although I’m very organised and know what I want to see.

RBUK, Rochdale

Have you found anything here?

What are you looking for?

I’ve been on the Words ’n’ Wishes stand and my rep had shown me their big spinner for the chocolate, I said it was lovely but too big for us, a counter top spinner of 24 or 12 bars would be good – and that’s what they’ve done! They’ve listened and it will go down really well. Years ago when I was at Clintons, they had these butterflies that you wind up and they fly out of the envelope when you open it, people used to love them. They were £2.99 then – Handcrafted Card Co are doing something similar now and they’re only £2.50, which is even better. We can put them in a window display to show them off which will create a great talking point.

Pictured on the Leonard Smith stand DP128 where Len and Issy are giving away jam featuring labels with their Southwold Beach Hut shots – because it’s summer! Just general browsing, and I’m looking for Christmas gifts, anything new – and anything for men, always difficult to find. And just to be inspired.

Have you been to H&G before & what do you like about it? I’ve been lots of times, it’s always a fun show and the sun always shines! Everything is quite straightforward, and it’s a nice time of year.

Have you found anything here? I’ve just ordered with Janie Wilson Cards and Heathcote & Ivory. I’m going to look at Potters Crouch Candles, and heading to East Of India. I also buy from Leonard Smith and will be ordering – and anyone who gives me free jam is a winner!

Meet the team...

The Daily News is brought to you by the team at Lema Media, publishers of Gifts Today, Greetings Today and many other UK and international B2B magazines, websites and an online TV channel. Our titles are written by journalists who have a clear understanding of the industries in which they operate, delivering insightful, useful and entertaining content with the sole intention of identifying sales for every aspect of the trade – whether that be the retailer, manufacturer or supplier.

Dunoon B27 “We’ve brought out quite a few new ranges for the second half of the year and these are on show at Harrogate,” says Rus Cymbaluk, sales manager (right), with sales rep Nick Hyde (left). He adds: “We’re currently having great success with our geometrics range of mugs, and especially featuring metallic… it’s so on-trend. All our UK-made mugs are design-led English fine bone china.”

Dartington Crystal B40 Gin is booming in the UK. So says Liz Leader, UK sales manager at Dartington Crystal, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. “The market’s grown for gin and we’re seeing demand for different glasses for different kinds of cocktails,” adds Deborah. “We have a brand-new gin launch, a party pack of six gin copa glasses, which are the current on-trend shape.”

Museums & Galleries DP1-32 Charity starts at work for the Museums & Galleries team. The company partnered with Macmillan on a gorgeous range of festive Christmas cards, with 10 per cent of the proceeds going to the cancer support charity. Distribution manager Tom Williams and agent Michael McVey showcase the range.
