Welcome to the October issue, where our main focus naturally is the Harrogate Int. Nursery Fair! It’s not long now until the doors will open and the event this year is most definitely set for success. Where else in the UK can you find so many leading brands all under one roof within a Nursery Trade environment?
Again, you will find so many leading Nursery brands housed within the five show halls all showcasing products that keep in-line with current consumer trends.
This year you will find more than 100 exhibitors, highlighting ranges including car seats, prams & pushchairs, carriers & slings, nursery furniture & décor, feeding, changing, technology and so much more!
This show represents not only leading brands but also fledgling companies which often offer products that can give a point of difference to your customers either instore or online. As Cozy n Safe’s Sales & Commercial Director, Harry Jhamat told Nursery Today: “For those in the nursery industry, the Harrogate Nursery Fair is not just another trade show; it’s an annual pilgrimage where industry leaders, innovators, and retailers come together to share ideas, collaborate, and stay updated on the latest trends and products. This event is a prime opportunity to network, build relationships, and showcase our offerings to a diverse and engaged
audience. It’s where we strengthen our industry connections and gain valuable insights into what the future holds.” Which I am confident is the sentiment of many exhibitors who have chosen to exhibit this year, with Joie’s Head of Product Development also looking forward to the show this year commenting “The Harrogate show provides us with the opportunity to meet with our customers face to face and gives them the chance to meet the whole team. It also provides the ideal forum for us to introduce new products that will be launching into our ranges.”
Of course, Harrogate is also known as the ‘friendly fair’ and provides a fantastic opportunity for us all to meet face-to-face, with Dorel’s Senior Field Marketeer UKI stating “Although a lot of business can be done online, you cannot beat face-to-face interaction and that’s really important to us. Harrogate is the perfect place to build on long-standing relationships as well as create new ones.”
Our contributors this month are also fully Harrogate focussed with Pramland’s John Barker telling us why, for him, the Harrogate Int. Nursery Fair is the ‘beating heart’ of our industry (turn to page 16) and over at Online4baby we had the pleasure to catch up with their Head Buyer, Jenny Hughes where we discuss the importance of trade shows for business (page 18).
We also spoke to a number of Independent Retailers to gain their views on Harrogate this year, with Jolly Tots Managing Director, Lorretta Owen commenting “I love the buzz that is created at Harrogate. You can really sense the excitement at each stand. Each brand trying to get ahead of each other seeing what others are launching. Everything is quite hush hush in the build-up then everyone is proud to display what they are bringing out.”
Harrogate is also the home of the coveted Baby Product Association BANTA and Concept & Innovation Awards. Winners will be announced on
the first day of the show – make sure you pop by the winning companies and check them out!
With so much activity within the halls this year, you will find a superb round-up of what you can expect to find being showcased and of course we trust this will assist you in pre-planning your visit.
To pre-register your attendance and find out further information visit www.nurseryfair.com
This month we also shine the light on Playmats and Feeding & Weaning products which are available to order and you might have noticed that BabyStyle are the star on our cover this month. Although it seems like only yesterday that we were on the BabyStyle stand catching up with the team back in October 2022, a year has flown by and BabyStyle have wasted no time behind the scenes. Check out our Cover Story starting over on page 10 to find out more.
Here’s to seeing everyone within the Harrogate show halls – remember if you spot me, please stop me and say ‘hi’.

Why Marketing Matters
Green Sheep Group’s Head of Marketing
Jamie Jillard discusses why an ‘always on’ approach is best…
I think it is easy to fall into a trap of seeing all ‘parents’ (our customers) as one constant and core audience, but the reality is quite different. There are so many different types of parents, working parents, stay at home parents, single parents, same sex parents, first-time parents, fifth time parents, not to mention the fact that what parenting means changes through the years. With all this in mind, brands need to constantly evolve and invest to ensure they are speaking to the parents of today.
As a team we adopt an ‘always on’ marketing approach, one that constantly engages with the consumer and targets them at the right time, from pregnancy and beyond. This strategy ensures that brands are always making new connections, which when you consider more than 2,000 babies are born in the UK every day, is integral to success. We understand that a huge proportion of our audiences, as with many nursery brands, are first-time parents so we know the importance of constantly generating new awareness, and keeping the brand up to date and desirable, so that it appeals to the modern-day parent.
For many of the long-standing brands, like us, heritage is invaluable, especially within this industry if you have garnered a reputation that parents can trust, but we mustn’t presume that just because the brand dominates now, that the next generation of parents will know about the brand! Brand heritage and a best-selling product line is not enough to sustain a leading position. I truly believe in never standing still and resting on our laurels, our brands are ours to nurture, protect and grow!
I think it is also imperative to consider your retail partners, creating a strong marketing strategy is not only great for your brand but for your partners too… they want to work with brands who are not only providing fantastic products, but who are creating interest and demand and ultimately driving footfall and rate of sale. Word of mouth, which comes from your product and brand reputation, is without doubt the strongest marketing tool – especially when it comes to parenting, but brands need to be part of the conversation to encourage and reinforce those WOM recommendations.
We are also seeing that retailers are no longer just pureplay retailers, with many boasting sophisticated marketing platforms of their own – at GSG, we are constantly looking for ways we can work with our retailers to support their marketing strategies - 17 years on for The Little Green Sheep and 10 years on for Snüz, we continue to back our brands and support our retailers with marketing investment.

JMDA child car seat designs for Mybaby win two iF Design Awards
Product design consultancy, JMDA Design, announce that two new products they have designed have been awarded the highly acclaimed iF Design Awards, as well as Red Dot design awards in 2022. Working with client Ningbo Mybaby Baby Items Manufacturing Co., Ltd and their brand ‘Amorhome’ on the Q88 i-Size and Q60 i-Size child safety seats, these two award-winning products have been recognised for the innovative design that aids useability and child safety.
Multi-height child restraint systems (CRS) are seats that can change from rear-facing to forwardfacing to combine di erent child height groups into one seat, requiring di erent safety features throughout a child’s growth. Although many products on the market try to combine the di erent age groups into a single product, most sacri ce the products’ e ective use in doing so.
Estelle Ye, General Manager of the Amorhome brand at Ningbo Mybaby: “We are overjoyed at the awards for our products -and with JMDA’s excellent designs! We look forward to the hugely positive impact this will have for our products in the marketplace.” Walter Mosca, Industrial Design Director at JMDA added: “We are delighted with these design awards. The uniqueness in the way we design comes from understanding everyday challenges of consumers, striving for increased safety, and creating cutting edge designs that lead the nursery market.”
The Q88 i-Size child safety car seat is designed for 40-125cm range and consists of various design features that improve the usability and discourage misuse of the product. The Q60 i-Size child safety car seat is a high back booster designed for child height range 100-150 cm (3 -12 years). The backrest can be adjusted in height as the child grows taller and is foldable which makes it extremely compact when on the move. The seat is unique in that it has a compact folding size but does not compromise on internal space and weighs just 4.5kg making it more portable. LED lights on the base assist in illumination during installation and targeted ventilation to the upper body and neck area provides more e ective temperature control of the child.
JMDA Design are poised for the next big event in the nursery industry calendar, the Harrogate International Nursery Fair on 15th-17th October 2023. If you would like to nd out more information about the latest product design award wins by JMDA please call 01386 426100 or email design@jmdadesign.com
Coffee Break
BTL Di usion are a Global company based in France distributing their own three global brands Cloudb, Little Big Friends and BabyToLove all over the world.
In addition, they are also distributors in France for famous brands such as Little Dutch and Infantino to name a few. Nursery
Today caught up with their Managing Director Graeme Hargreaves to nd out more.
What was the inspiration behind launching BTL Di usion in the UK?
I’ve always seen the potential in bringing European brands to the UK market, and fortunately, I was introduced to the owners at the Nuremberg Toy Fair earlier this year. After “a few” networking beers, things accelerated quickly into a discussion to bring their fantastic brands to the UK market as a stand-alone subsidiary business, and here we are today!
You are part of a large established organisation with some great brands onboard, what are your aspirations for the UK market?
It is an exciting time to join BTL Di usion as we have aggressive global growth plans, and lots of exciting in-house product development going on behind the scenes… watch this space!
You will have three strong brands on your stand at Harrogate, CloudB, Little Big Friends and BabyToLove. What do you feel sets these brands apart from other products that are currently available?
CloudB is the global pioneering market leader when it comes to well-being and sleep for babies, using premium fabrics and components which have contributed to us winning many global awards. Little Big Friends is based on 5 habitats from around the world, Forest, Farm, Jungle, Ocean and our newly introduced dinosaur range. These products are made from Vegan Leather which is unique to the Market and a real point of di erence
Each of your brands also represent a great gifting element and complement each other well. How will you be supporting your retail partners with regards to POS material in-store or photography for websites and social media content?
We have a huge array of assets and videos for each product to support our retail partners. Each brand has its own fully branded POS material which we o er to our customer FOC when certain items are purchased. As an example, our unique to the market Cloud Box comes with a free FSDU with demo unit when purchased with 18 units or more. We also have smaller POS for independent and smaller stores.
A question often asked is do you have a MOQ. How simple will it be for retailers to order from you?
One of our main goals here was to make purchasing easy. Whether you’re a National Retailer or Independent Store, we have purposely set our master cartons to low quantities of 4s and 6s. With three fantastic brands under our umbrella, our MOV is easily achieved mixing products across the three brands. BTL Di usion will also work with customers who are struggling to achieve this, just speak to our team!
Finally, what can visitors to your stand expect – are there any new products that you will be showcasing?
Absolutely! Cloud b is thrilled to announce the launch of CloudBox,the unique storyteller which combines sounds and light projections! CloudBox can be enjoyed by children aged 0-8 and comes with an illustrated storybook. Available October 2023. With enchanting universes to explore - Ocean, Forest, Space, and VillageCloudBox helps soothe babies and immerses children into magical worlds that help develop their imagination. A recording function sparks creativity by encouraging parents or children to create their own stories.

With a small but mighty workforce and over 25 years of exhibiting under their belt, BabyStyle have been working hard to release the new Oyster Home Range rst shown in 2022, whilst making exciting developments within the egg range; not to mention the e orts that go into planning for the Nursery Fair. We are always blown away by their captivating stands and this year we have been assured, will be no di erent.
The innovative Oyster Home Range will take centre stage at the Harrogate Nursery Fair this year, an endeavour that Andy Crane, Managing Director is proud of; “We have dipped our toes in the home products pond before, but it was time for us to reimagine classic household staples under the award-winning Oyster brand. We are particularly proud of the Oyster Swinging Crib, which parents have called “magic” as it gently rocks their baby back to sleep and they can get some much-needed rest.” Andy promises more tech innovation will be on display this year for the home, with smart motion rockers and a crib with motion detection.
At this years’ show, BabyStyle’s latest Nursery Furniture sets from the Charnwood collection will also be on display – the stunning Montana and Verona. They’ve already seen an incredible response
to the Montana 3-piece set which appears on around 30 shop oors across the UK. The team love to show current ranges and new developments to potential new customers that make their way over to their stand, not just current retailers. Everyone is welcome to BabyStyle and greeted with open arms and a refreshing Gin and Tonic (soft drinks are available) from their infamous gin bar.
Andy exclusively told us that they’ve been secretly working on the egg3 Stroller which will make its debut at the show. The egg2 has been their fastest
It seems like only yesterday that we were on the BabyStyle stand catching up with the team back in October 2022, a year has own by and BabyStyle have wasted no time behind the scenes.

selling stroller ever so we couldn’t wait to hear about the changes they’ve made for the next model. He said “stunning new fabrics and colourways will dress a clutch of egg3 protypes, ready to be explored by visitors to the stand. The egg3 will retain egg’s iconic look but we’ve made several enhancements to improve the consumer experience”. He explained that we can expect to see changes to the seat unit and carrycot, both with larger hoods to provide impressive coverage from the sun and a new easy-to-use one-pull harness system on the seat unit. The carrycot will have the most changes, with the introduction of rocking rails on its base, a sit-up board and new DuPont Sorona mattress. “We are thrilled to show our new mattress at the show for the egg3 which is made from bio-based bres. It is naturally ame retardant, non-toxic and fully
important for young babies.”
At last years’ show the team presented the egg2 Stroller organiser accessory which has been a huge success since its launch earlier this year, so much so that they will be displaying rst prototypes of an Oyster stroller organiser for retailers’ consideration. BabyStyle has always been a leader in the stroller accessories department and Andy says there will be more surprises at the show which he is sure retailers will love.
Talking of surprises, we were thrilled to learn that the product displayed in a secret room at the fair back in 2021 is making a comeback. Pre-production egg Halo models will be on display ready for visitors to the stand to get their hands on.
Scheduled for launch in 2024, the egg Halo is tipped to become a baby tech must-have for parents. The multi-faceted gadget is not just for baby with its stroller rocker, mattress vibration and nightlight features but can be used by the whole family with its Bluetooth speaker, pollution sensor and temperature detection.
“With so many features packed into one product, we really wanted to take our time with the egg Halo to ensure its quality, safety and in true egg style, its aesthetic.” Andy also explained that they will be manufacturing the egg Halo in the UK which we were really pleased to learn.
Also being produced in the UK is the egg Halo app which provides users with an alternative way to control the device and where parents can check the pollution levels in that area. “We are keen to include
an air quality monitor which will help parents make informed choices. Throughout the development of the product, we did a lot of research into air quality and found that poor air quality a ects babies more than adults because their lungs are still developing, they also breathe faster than adults – meaning they breathe more air per pound of body weight. Babies are often being pushed in their stroller and at that height the air is more polluted due to fumes. This of course does not apply to all walks or pit stops outside for a bite to eat, but perhaps a bad air quality reading will help a parent decide to eat inside rather than next to a busy road.”
As if this wasn’t enough already, BabyStyle will also be displaying a whole new range of Oyster3 colourways and fabrics giving their retailers and consumers so much choice. You can nd out all about the new Oyster3 range and more exciting developments at this years Harrogate Nursery Fair.

Nursery Today spoke with Baby Barn’s Sue Dronfield and Listers Baby Shop’s Terri Hall
to find out their thoughts on Harrogate Int. Nursery Fair 2023.
Terri Hall
LISTERS BABY SHOP
Why is this event important to your business?
To grow our business! It only happens once a year and to have everyone in one place is an amazing opportunity to see newness, fellow retailers and of course any deals that may be had.
What are your hopes this year while visiting the show?
To enhance my existing brands. I have a lot of brands in store and want to concentrate on that this upcoming year and well into 2024. My brands are faithful to my customers and with what the customer knows.
Will you be looking for specific show only offers from exhibitors?
Sue Dronfield
THE BABY BARN
Why is this event important to your business?
I am looking forward to attending Harrogate with my staff as I feel it is an ideal opportunity for them to see new colours and products - look at and compare brands we currently do and don’t stock and meet the people they speak to on the telephone.
Harrogate is also a great team bonding couple of days - our staff are the ones always on the shop floor speaking to our customers and it’s important that they know what’s available, have seen any changes to existing collections and can give input into new products that are available that maybe worth stocking.
What are your hopes this year while visiting the show?
I am hoping to see a few more independent exclusives and the opportunity to speak to suppliers face to face with regards to maintaining a positive/fair working relationship in such a competitive industry.
Is there a particular product category that you will be focussing on this year?
We are currently in the process of expanding our showroom to enable better layout/accessibility when demonstrating and reviewing our current brands we have.
I am always open minded with regards to new products and look forward to visiting some of the smaller companies to see what they have to offer. Will you be looking for specific show only offers from exhibitors? Show offers are always welcome however, over the years I have learnt to not get too carried away!
For you, what is the most enjoyable aspect of being at Harrogate?
What I really enjoy about Harrogate is the relaxed, sociable environment, being able to view lots of fabulous brands and also catching up with other retailers.
I will be looking for indie exclusives. Something we can push in store that nobody else has. It would be a huge help if we didn’t have to buy in unreasonable bulk buy.
Is there a particular product category that you will be focussing on this year?
I would like to see a few more baby bouncers, swings and baby seats. I think the market is so focused on co-sleeper cribs that it’s been a bit forgotten. Affordable to the consumer is always a big plus.
Are you seeking new products/brands to take on-board this year?
This coming year I’m focusing on growing my existing brands. I have enough in store for every consumer that shops with us, and needs. If I see something amazing I will certainly take a look.
For you, what is the most enjoyable aspect of being at Harrogate?
Seeing everything that is coming for Spring/Summer! It gives you a good idea of how the market is changing. Neutrals are a big deal now and we are moving past grey! Mamas & Papas certainly led the way for that particular trend.

JOLLY TOTS
Why is this event important to your business?
We love going to Harrogate as it’s a great time to meet up with companies that we already work with, make new connections and see all the nursery industry newness.
It’s a great way of our Business keeping up to date with new launches and to have a hands-on demonstration before the launches in store.
I personally love to see all the new colours and love to guess what’s going to be BIG next year.
What are your hopes this year while visiting the show?
We hope to add even more brands to our collection and benefit from the show discounts.
Will you be looking for specific show only offers from exhibitors?
Like everyone at the moment we are always looking for a deal. Harrogate exhibitors always offer great deals usually with the welcome addition of a little beverage.
Is there a particular product category that you will be focussing on this year?
I’m open to everything really. I would like to expand the collection of smaller items that we stock such as baby monitors, bedding and baby car products. This sector can be quite competitive so it’s crucial to pick the right companies.
Are you seeking new products/brands to take on-board this year?
I still have my eye on a few brands that we would love to stock.
The opening of our new branch has meant they we have really expanded the number of brands we stock but as ever I’m always looking to add more.
For you, what is the most enjoyable aspect of being at Harrogate?
I love the buzz that is created at Harrogate. You can really sense the excitement at each stand. Each brand trying to get ahead of each other seeing what others are launching. Everything is quite hush hush in the build-up then everyone is proud to display what they are bringing out.

Barking Mad
john@pramland.co.uk
How is it possible that 12 months have passed already? Yes, it’s October and that means it’s time to head to Harrogate for more drinking. . . .I mean new products, etc (honestly). I love Harrogate and I don’t think I’m the only one. Not only is Harrogate a beautiful town to visit but it’s also a great place for the nursery show and I think you’ll all agree – it’s a blast!
Yes, I love the social side of the visit – what’s not to love about spending the night chatting with likeminded people, having a laugh and building relationships – but it’s all about the show, and 2023 is set to be another belter of a show. My diary is looking as full as Christies on a Sunday night (and that is full with a capital F). Bravo to the organisers on another bumper line up of brands and well done to the brands for supporting the show, we retailers appreciate it, and you get a massive thumbs up from us all – THANK YOU!
There are a few noticeable names missing from the line-up, which is a shame and I hope that they realise they’ve missed out and make a return next year. The industry needs to support the show so that we can all bene t from it. As I’ve discussed in my previous
articles, we retailers should be supporting the brands that want to work with us. Turning up at Harrogate is a great way for them to illustrate that commitment. Brand names like Silver Cross, ABC Design, Bugaboo, Cosatto and Joolz are all noticeable by their absence which is a shame and I hope it doesn’t re ect on their position in the market or their commitment to their stockists.
So, what am I looking forward to at Harrogate? Firstly, I would have to say connecting with you – the beating heart of the nursery industry. It’s a lonely game being an independent retailer and being able to talk and exchange experiences with other stores is an amazing release. Strengthening existing relationships and building new ones just means that as a group of individuals we can all grow. I love meeting you all, especially after I’ve had a few Sherberts.
Secondly, I just love connecting with the other side of the industry too. I have some wonderful connections with various people in the industry but some of the closest are with representatives of some of my brands. These relationships really should not be undervalued. Good relationships
are vital to a business, if there’s mutual respect and a desire to grow then business can ourish, and I nd that the brands where I have a truly “friend” style relationship bene t the most. Without giving any names I’d be lost without a number of people from various brands – Harrogate is a great place to see them, in a more informal setting where I can truly express my appreciations for them (if you’re reading this DB I owe you far too many beers).
I guess that just leaves what I’m hoping to see. . . .
I’m going to start with Mamas & Papas. The Ocarro has been a fabulous product for us over the past 6 or 7 years, but it’s getting old now and I
know I’m not the only person that feels it needs a refresh to give it the boost it needs. Fingers crossed Sal and the M&P crew will have something to show us. . . .those with eagle eyes may have spotted something lurking in a dark corner at the recent M&P events. Will we see something new? I really hope so.
I’ve heard rumours of something new bubbling at Cybex – I would guess it’s a little too early to see a competitor for the Maxi-Cosi Slide System – but Cybex do have a habit of pulling the rabbit out of the hat, so I de nitely cannot wait. The Gold refresh from Harrogate 2022 has been popular (especially the fabulous Balios S) so more along those lines please Cybex.
Pramland’s John Barker runs us through why, for him the Harrogate Int. Nursery Show is the ‘beating heart’ of our industry.
I just love connecting with the other side of the industry too. I have some wonderful connections with various people in the industry but some of the closest are with representatives of some of my brands. These relationships really should not be undervalued
I’m not sure what Venicci will have to show us this year, especially after they’ve just had such a successful launch with the Tinum Edge range. There will no doubt be some new wheels (fingers crossed for something in the stroller market) and I’m guessing we’ll be seeing some Venicci Home changes. Whatever happens one thing is for certain, they’ll throw an amazing party, and they may even have someone performing the splits on the stand (just a rumour I’ve heard).
I have heard that Ickle Bubba have some new products to show and the same goes for BabyMore and KinderKraft. The latter showing not only some new products but some new prices that should see them appearing on more shopfloors over the coming months.
Will Joie steal the show again like they did with the Urban last year? Will Bebecar have some outlandish fabrics on display? We all know the answer to one of these questions – another thing we can all be certain of is that the show stalwarts BabyStyle will be the go-to stand as always. But what can we expect from the darlings of the industry? My bets are on for Oyster 4 (Oyster 3 is getting old now and over the last couple of shows we’ve seen the Oyster 3 evolve more and more away
from its earliest iteration). I say it every year, but I truly hope we see a return of Oyster Max too. Finally, for BabyStyle I’m hoping to see some more additions to their home range – the range has arrived and immediately started to sell.
From Maxi-Cosi I am hoping that the mystery product on the recent price list is the Mica Slide that we’d all love to see. And, as always, I’m hoping to see a further development of their wheeled offering. Let’s be honest, it’s going to be hard to outdo the launch they had earlier this year.
Emmaljunga make a return to Harrogate as a very well respected and much-loved brand. Their success back in the UK will be dependent upon their offering and it will be interesting to see this in the flesh.
There’s lots of brands I haven’t mentioned and to them I apologise. Hopefully you’ll get a mention in next month’s issue where I’ll be looking at some of the highlights of the show. In the meantime, thank you for taking the time to read my words and don’t be a stranger if you happen across me at the show. If anyone wants me and you can’t find me in any of the halls, you’ll find me at the following what3words location : crew.pies.desk – yes, that’s the end of the bar in Christies!
SEE YOU IN HARROGATE!
My diary is looking as full as Christies on a Sunday night (and that is full with a capital F). Bravo to the organisers on another bumper line up of brands and well done to the brands for supporting the show, we retailers appreciate it, and you get a massive thumbs up from us all!EXCLUSIVE FURNITURE PREVIEW HARROGATE NU RSERY FA IR, STAN D B5
Retail matters
This month, we are catching up with Online4baby’s Head Buyer, Jenny Hughes, who after 14 years of experience in the baby industry, brings extensive expertise when it comes to baby and nursery products. We take time to discuss with Jenny the importance of trade shows in buying, and how valuable they are for a business, and touch on key focuses that the Online4baby buying team have in the pipeline for Q4 and Q1 next year.
Jenny, thanks so much for catching up with us today! You have travelled and visited many trade shows in your career, why are trade shows so valuable and important?
Thank you so much for having me!
Trade shows are a great opportunity to dive deep into the detail of product, from newness to the market, upcoming trends, innovative designs, and new and upcoming brands. It’s a great opportunity for us to meet face to face and build relationships with brands and suppliers, whilst getting the chance to test out lots of new products.
You visited K&J this year, what were your highlights?
Cologne was a great show, it was very different from the past years. It has much more of an international focus, which was good to see, and is very different from the Harrogate show. It was great to network and to meet with suppliers and fellow industry retailers in a more relaxed environment. We also managed to discover some excellent nightlife spots for our plans next year!
How is Harrogate different?
Harrogate has a much larger brand presence at their events; it’s nice to see how many
brands have actually migrated back to the UK show more recently. We’re really looking forward to discussing any new exciting new opportunities on the horizon and are excited to see all the great upcoming products.
What’s on the agenda for the rest of this year?
We’re always looking to build on our current brand portfolio and product choice for our customers. We believe that we have something for everyone, from product to price point, so building this out further is definitely a huge opportunity for us. Our customer is always at the heart of all of our buying decisions, and our meetings are always focused on this. Thinking ahead of Q4 in particular, what have been the Buying Team’s priorities for Online4baby?
Stock and pricing have definitely been our key focus this year as we head into the golden quarter. We’re really passionate about supporting our customers and providing the best pricing we can possibly give, as we understand pressures people are under with the current cost of living. We believe that customers shouldn’t have to compromise on quality when it comes
to the price of products, which is why we aim to provide something for every budget. This final quarter is all about pushing ahead for what we hope will be a strong finish to a really good year.
What’s on the horizon for Q1 2024 for Online4baby?
We are hugely focused on Q1! January is a peak period for us; customers are heading out of the Christmas period and beginning
to plan for the year ahead. We have really homed in on what our customers are asking for with the cost of living and sustainability being a big focus and have some really strong campaigns and excellent product landing in the new year.
Thank you, Jenny! We can’t wait to see what is in store for Online4baby in the next six months.
Trade shows are a great opportunity to dive deep into the detail of product, from newness to the market, upcoming trends, innovative designs, and new and upcoming brands.

Hello Harrogate
The Harrogate International Nursery Fair has been a cornerstone of the nursery industry for decades and is set to open their doors once more this October.
Not long now until the doors of the Harrogate Int. Nursery Fair open and once again there will be more than 100 exhibitors set to showcase a variety of nursery and infant products across ve halls. Where else in the UK can you nd so many leading nursery brands, along with the smaller edging companies, all under one roof at a dedicated UK Nursery Trade Event?
This yearly event o ers a unique opportunity for visitors to see the latest innovations in the nursery sector. It’s the ideal place for exhibitors to introduce new products, from cutting-edge pushchairs, car seats, nursery furniture, toys, technology, carriers & slings and even eco-friendly baby gear (to name just a few of the categories that will be on display!).
“What I really enjoy about Harrogate is the relaxed, sociable environment, being able to view lots of fabulous brands and also catching up with other retailers.”
Sue Dron eld, Baby Barn
Sunday 15th – Tuesday 17th October 2023
Visitors, including retailers, distributors, and industry insiders who have chosen to attend will bene t greatly from the many networking opportunities presented at the fair. Connecting with like-minded individuals, sharing experiences, and forming partnerships are invaluable aspects of the event. Nursery retailers in particular can discover new suppliers enabling them to expand their product o erings and keep their stores fresh and appealing to customers.
The event is also a great trend spotting opportunity. The Nursery Fair provides a rst-hand look at emerging trends which are closely monitored by many nursery brands and re ected within their current ranges. This knowledge empowers nursery retailers to make informed decisions about their product o erings, ensuring they remain relevant and competitive in a dynamic market.
Furthermore, for nursery retailers the fair simpli es the often daunting task of selecting products for your stores. By evaluating a wide range of o erings in one place, you can make informed decisions based on quality, price, and consumer demand.
Harrogate is also the home of the coveted BANTAS (sponsored by Nursery Today) and the Concept & Innovation Awards. By attending you will be among the rst to nd out who the winners are!
“Harrogate is a great opportunity to catch up with all the brands and see all their exciting new products. It’s great to meet people face to face; ask questions and learn more about the new and upcoming trends.”
Of course, the event wouldn’t be complete without a party! Exhibitors and visitors at the show are also invited to have some fun with a risk-free dabble on casino tables at the after-show party on Sunday 15th October. This will take place once again, in the fabulous Royal Hall and everyone will receive a voucher to exchange for free chips to play on the tables. For the competitive amongst you, there will be a challenge to see who can win the most in the time allowed – with a free bottle of zz up for grabs! You will nd a host of exhibitors across the following pages highlighting what you can expect to nd within the show halls this year, which we trust will assist you in pre-planning your visit.

Innovation, and Growth
What to Expect from CuddleCo at Harrogate 2023
Hall B, Stand: B5
Last year, as the Harrogate International Nursery Fair came to a close, CuddleCo re ected on what was a very busy but fantastic weekend.
The positive reaction from retailers and visitors was a humbling moment for the CuddleCo team. Looking back on the success of last year’s show, they expressed how grateful they were for all their loyal customers as well as the many new faces who came to visit them.
“The show wouldn’t have been a success without our customers, both large and small. The team and I were completely humbled by the feedback we received; it was quite simply an honour to be part of it. Harrogate is back!” Marc Kelly, Managing Director, at CuddleCo.
A year of growth
The growth of the CuddleCo brand since last year’s show is clear, with searches increasing 84% in 2023 v 2022. The rise in parents searching for the brand hasn’t happened overnight, with CuddleCo attributing the growth to many di erent factors,
including improving their digital customer experience, building a solid internal team infrastructure and most importantly, a big investment into supporting their retailers.
A major driver behind CuddleCo’s development as a brand has been their focus on upcoming interior trends, influencing the styles and types of nursery ranges they bring to market. CuddleCo are set on delivering inspiring, creative nurseries and most importantly, stylish products with commercial confidence for retailers and parents alike.
CuddleCo have supported their expanding trend-led product catalogue with digital campaigns that highlight new products and emerging trends that influenced them, one being colour drench and the different ways parents can style the Nola range for the nursery. Whether that be brilliantly bold and super modern or a way of adding a touch of colour to a neutral nursery.
The resurgence of rattan
After launching the Aria range using natural and sustainable materials last year (and winning a Banta award!) CuddleCo continue to see the rattan category grow in popularity, and they’re not alone. Many big Highstreet retailers are growing their offering within this market, and off the back of Aria’s success,
CuddleCo are too. Adding additional accessories to the Aria range from baby to child.
Focused on providing style and substance, CuddleCo have developed a slightly more grown-up furniture range that wouldn’t look out of place in an older child or teenager’s room, giving it life beyond the nursery. With a modern mid-century design featuring a contemporary minimalist twist, the range incorporates calming elements of nature with rattan insets, combined with clean modern lines.
New neutrals
Another trend CuddleCo are excited to bring to the show is one that’s been seen everywhere, from fashion and home accessories to décor and lighting. The cashmere colour trend is now breaking into the world of nursery – and for good reason too. Both versatile and gender-neutral, this colour needs to be on your radar. CuddleCo have taken a contemporary cashmere twist on their best-selling Clara Furniture Range, ready to bring warmth and luxury to neutral nurseries across the country.
Another product update CuddleCo revealed was Nola White and Natural. Last year’s star of the show was CuddleCo’s colourful Nola. Its attractive price and eye-catching colour range offered affordable style for everyone. 12 months on, CuddleCo are returning with
a new option that parents can refresh as their family grows. Nola White and Natural is the perfect blank canvas parents can style however they choose.
Good things come to those who wait
Building on the successful launch of the Aylo Stroller by Junior Jones, CuddleCo are excited to be previewing two new special editions at the show. Since launching the core range, the brand has received great feedback from their exclusive retailers and customers alike. A hit both on and offline, which is no surprise with influencers loving the brand.
On the top of everyone’s must-see list is Doona, who has 143 reasons alone to visit them. Armed with new products to preview they’re already the talk of the show. But don’t expect the products to be center stage of CuddleCo’s stand. Kept behind lock and key, the new products will be kept in a room of their own and available to view by appointment only. When it comes to Doona, CuddleCo’s lips are sealed.
CuddleCo are excited to welcome everyone to the stand (B5), you’re not going to be able to miss them!
If you haven’t already, ensure you contact your Account Manger to book an appointment.

Mama Bamboo will be proudly exhibiting for the rst time at Harrogate Int. Nursery Fair. Prior to the doors opening Nursery Today caught up with their CEO Laura Crawford to nd out more about this sustainable and eco-friendly business.
Can you tell our readers a little about Mama Bamboo and the inspiration behind your eco nappies and wipes product range?
I became aware of the plastic problem with nappies and wipes when my second child was born. Until then I had no idea that most nappies and wipes were almost entirely plastic and would take over 500 years to degrade. Here in the UK, we use eight million nappies and 30 million wet wipes every day. It’s horrifying to think that every disposable nappy and wipe ever used, is still on this planet and will be for several hundred years.
But I simply could not nd an eco-solution that worked for me. I tried cloth nappies and found the workload was just too much to handle on top of two under 2-year-olds. I tried all the various eco-nappies available at the time and found them to be less absorbent and prone to leaks, and too sti and papery. And whenever I gave in and used standard plastic ones, my babies came out in awful nappy rash. I wanted a soft, natural, sustainable nappy that actually worked.
As I researched wipes, I was also shocked to nd that so many contained seriously harsh chemicals and even endocrine (hormone) disruptors. I wanted compostable, natural wipes that wouldn’t irritate their skin.
I did months of research into materials, processes and chemicals before I nalised our Mama Bamboo designs. Our nappies are made using sustainable bamboo, corn starch and chlorine-free pulp. Our wipes are made using the same sustainable bamboo, and a +99% puri ed water, aloe vera and coconut extract solution. They are designed to be kind to babies’ skin and to Mama Earth, whilst also performing on every level for demanding Mums and Dads, just like me.
As a business, you are a great advocate when we look at eco and sustainable products within Nursery. How important is this to your business?
Sustainability and baby’s health is at the heart of everything we do, and these usually go hand-in-hand. What is good for babies’ skin, is often good for the planet. It’s not natural to wrap babies in plastic and put dangerous man-made chemicals on their skin. Sustainability is baked into our every element of product design.
But our eco-commitment goes beyond our
products and raw materials. We consider our carbon footprint, waste, and eco-impact in all our business processes and practices, as well.
We actively seek to partner with B-Corp suppliers and ensure community standards are met and exceeded at every stage of the supply chain.
We also invest a lot of time and energy into the ongoing campaign with DEFRA to establish a better end-of-life composting solution here in the UK for all hygiene waste.
For me, if you’re not focusing on the sustainability of your business at every level, then you’re not engaged in ‘good’ business.
You state that you were the rst European nappy brand to become B-Corp certi ed – what does this mean for your business and the brand?
Certifying as a B-Corp was an incredibly proud moment for us and winning the “Best for the World Environment” accolade for the last two years from them, was really the icing on the cake. It’s literally saying we are the “Best of the Best!”.
For me, B-Corp is a brilliant credential as it takes a holistic view of your business; community, environment, workers, customers and governance. It’s not enough to greenwash an area of your business with single focus on one eco-improvement, you need to be fully engaged with sustainability throughout your business.
B-Corp as a brand is becoming more recognisable to consumers now, with some supermarkets categorising products with B-Corp aisles. I think this will become more important to retailers as consumers begin to demand this eco-validation when shopping.
Your eco-nappies (available in six sizes) and your pull-up training pants (four sizes) are made using sustainable bamboo? Are there any speci c bene ts for babies and toddlers by using this?
Bamboo is nature’s little miracle. Not only is it organically fast growing, without the use of pesticides or fertilisers, and uses 7x less water than cotton or other brous crops, but it also has special properties which makes it perfect for delicate skin. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial due to an enzyme called Kun. Bamboo viscose is incredibly soft and breathable, which lets air ow naturally against the skin. It is also
temperatureregulating like silk. This all means it can help to reduce the chance of nasty nappy rash.
Of course, the range doesn’t stop there, you also have wet wipes which you state have a ‘no sting formula’. Can you tell us a little more?
Our bamboo wipes feature a 99.4% puri ed water, aloe vera and coconut extract formula. Unlike some wipes we do not use phenoxyethanol, alcohol, or endocrine disruptors. Our wipes are free from parabens and methylisothiazolinone (MIT), which many studies have shown to cause health problems and skin irritation, especially in babies’ sensitive skin.
Unlike some wipes our formula will not ‘sting’ or dry babies’ skin.
Finally, do you have any exciting news or new product launches on the horizon that you would like to share with our readers?
We recently launched our Size 0 tiny baby nappies. Designed with Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity to t the tiniest bottoms in the neonatal wards. We have partnered with IPCC to donate nappies to several of the neonatal wards in the South East. Our hope is to make the rst few days of a new parent’s life a little less stressful by providing each family with a full pack of nappies which are kinder to their delicate babies’ skin. We also launched the Give Another Mother scheme with IPCC so all our customers can donate to this amazing charity as well.
We will be launching a complementary baby and mummy bamboo range this Autumn as part of our Bamboo Buddy Club. Bamboo muslins, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, babygrows maternity t-shirts, and water bottles.

The Air Lite is more compact in size to ensure it can be placed by a parent bed, no matter what size of room and baby feels cosy and secure inside and is a standalone crib as opposed to the original Air which converts to a full size cot when baby is ready.
Designed with breathability at its core, the dual view, mesh sides help to maximise air ow as well as allowing parents to keep a watchful eye on baby. The zip down side is whisper quiet to prevent disturbance and is designed to easily feed or comfort baby during the night.

As well as helping to maximise breathability, the Shnuggle Air Lite features a gentle incline option to help ease colic and re ux as well as seven height adjustments to t most bed heights and attaches securely and easily to most standard bed frames.
The added storage hammock underneath provides handy storage space for those night-time feeding and changing essentials.
“We’ve had great success with our original Shnuggle Air crib, which is the only crib on the market to convert to a full size cot, but we take feedback and insight from our consumers on board and there was de nite demand for a more compact size crib to suit any room size and ensure baby felt safe and cosy, yet one that retained all the features of the Shnuggle Air. We are excited to extend the range and can’t wait to see lots of pictures of cosy babies sleeping soundly in the Air Lite.” Sinead & Adam Murphy, Co-Founders, Shnuggle

Debra Tucker
COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR, RED KITE BABY
Why is this event important to your business?
Red Kite is in its 19th year now and we have exhibited at every Harrogate show since then. As the only UK Nursery Trade Fair, it is vital to make sure that we are exhibiting to showcase our full range of exciting products in one place at the same time! It is also the ideal opportunity to introduce any new developments and to gauge feedback which I think is invaluable. A wide range of visitors and buyers also gives the perfect location to meet up with current customers and to hopefully enable us to introduce the brand to any new interested buyers.
What are your hopes this year while exhibiting?
We always hope and look forward to positive feedback on both our product range and to listen to feedback about how we are performing as a brand in supporting retailers. We have had a very strong year supplying great value products and are planning to build on this with new introductions at the show which we hope will be well received!
Will you be showcasing new products or POS materials available to retailers during the show?
Yes, we always use the Harrogate Fair as the main event to launch and introduce new products as this is the ideal time when most buyers will be able to see the full range in one location. We have also this year introduced some POS material for independent retailers so this will give us a good opportunity to nd out how this has worked and what we can do to further support for the future. Can visitors to your stand expect any specific show only offers?
In the past few years we have limited show speci c o ers as we are more focused on supplying the right product at the right price, every day without deals. But we are likely to be working on some incentives to encourage customers at the show and hopefully this will attract many visitors to our stand!
For you, what is the most enjoyable aspect of being at Harrogate?
For me personally, it’s the opportunity to catch up and see so many friendly and familiar faces that I have known in our industry over the past 25 years! I genuinely enjoy speaking to people and love hearing any feedback, good and bad! I hope the old buzzy feel to the show returns with packed hallways and lots of voices and people everywhere! Last year’s show was certainly busy, so I have high hopes for the same if not better this year!

Get Lost in Rhapsody
The new collection from COSATTO X Paloma Faith
New for 2023, COSATTO continue their artistic collaboration with Paloma Faith, introducing the sixth collection: Rhapsody. The iconic tiger is back, gazing out unflinchingly amid blooms and enchanting creatures. Outrageously opulent, Rhapsody is inspired by eastern decoration techniques with a dark gothic symphony of lush florals, ornamental birds and bees bursting bright from a black backdrop. This is maximalist melodrama and full-on Paloma.
Artist, style icon, actress, activist, mother - this inspirational Brit-award-winning artist with three double platinum selling albums and a career spanning over a decade has over a million followers on social and is a force for empowerment of young women. However, Paloma offers a vulnerability that is relatable to new parents – particularly those who have felt adrift in a world of prams that did not suit their personality.
Paloma Faith and Cosatto. Shake up the rules. Wake up the world.

Recreate a pavement sensation anywhere!
Start-Up company Sleepybump has created an innovative new product which provides assistance to rock babies to sleep with natural bumpy feeling, giving parents full control and in record time: Sleepybump.
Newly launched, visitors to Kind + Jugend this year were invited to the Sleepybump stand to see the new and innovative Sleepybump Surface.
With the Sleepybump Surface new parents can now rock their baby to sleep without having to take a drive, go on long walks or hold and rock the baby endlessly to a point of physical exhaustion every single nap time.
A unique and innovative new product, the Sleepybump is a silicone surface that has been created to simulate the rocking motions infants adore. Consisting of uneven bumps that were carefully engineered to rock a baby safely and smoothly to sleep this distinctive product helps mums and dads to get their baby to fall asleep quickly in their strollers without having to take them outside.
The product is incredibly simple to use and requires no batteries! Simply lay the Sleepybump Surface on a flat, even surface and start moving the stroller right on top of it. The bumpy material mimics the feel of a regular pavement outside, thus providing babies with the familiar rocking feeling they need to fall asleep. In addition, Sleepybump is durable over time, folds and cleans easily and is suitable for all types of strollers. Apart from making nap time a lot more manageable, parents can now have complete control and flexibility: they can rock the baby with this light, mobile product while working or spending time with family and friends.
