Fine Jewels & Timepieces –

In 1981, an important collection of jewellery belonging to Hollywood actress Claire Adams MacKinnon was offered for auction at Leonard Joel. Forty years later, with offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, the jewellery category at Leonard Joel continues to manage and promote the most extraordinary range of jewellery in Australia. The November Fine Jewels & Timepieces collection is no exception, with a unique and impressive range of antique, vintage, contemporary and signed jewellery presented. From the 19th Century we have glittering old European and rose-cut diamond brooches (Lots 49 & 50), a diamond set Etruscan revival bangle (Lot 53) and striking enamel and pearl necklace (Lot 57). A selection of antique Australian pieces from the era are led by cover lot 123; a topaz, seed pearl and gold collar by renowned Melbourne jeweller Kilpatrick & Co. In exceptional condition and presented in the original velvet lined box, this important piece is sure to appeal to collectors of historically significant jewels. The Art Deco era is well represented with a number of stylish geometric designs offered. Highlights include a jadeite and diamond suite (Lot 94), large double clip diamond brooch (Lot 20) and a striking onyx and diamond bracelet mounted in platinum (Lot 29). The LN at the end of the reference denoting Lunette Noir (black bezel) together with its wonderful splash of green in its green GMT hand and green signature enhances the watch’s sporty look whilst not compromising on its luxurious feel and appearance. $12,000-16,000
