THE INTERIORS OF JEAN-PIERRE HEURTEAU AUCTION THURSDAY 19 OCTOBER AT 6PM, MELBOURNE Jean-Pierre Heurteau is one of Melbourne’s most well-known and celebrated interior designers, a name synonymous with luxury and flamboyant European design. Jean-Pierre

was

first

introduced

to

the design world when he worked at Melbourne’s

iconic

department

store,

Georges on Collins street, where he was exposed to high end products and met Melbourne’s elite clientele. With a keen sense of style and a commercial mind, Jean-Pierre spent his spare time hand selecting collectables from opportunity shops. “I would walk from op-shop to opshop, collecting pieces and selling them for a profit. The clutter in my room horrified my parents.” His passion for collecting later sent him overseas where he would often visit antique stores and flea markets all over Europe. India is also a permanent stamp on his passport, where he draws inspiration from nature and animals, visibly apparent from the vast array of animal prints in many of his clients’ lavish homes. We are thrilled to offer the interiors of Jean Pierre’s home on 19 October. Contact us now to register your interest and we will notify you when the catalogue is online. Exporting Significant Australian Cultural Heritage The export of Australia’s significant cultural heritage is regulated under the Protection of Movable Cultural Heritage Act 1986 (PMCH Act.) It is not intended to restrict normal and legitimate trade in cultural property and does not affect an individual’s right to own or sell within Australia. The PMCH Act implements a system of export permits for certain heritage objects defined as ‘Australian protected objects’. More information is available on the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts’ website: http://www.arts.gov.au/movable_heritage Enquiries can be made to the Cultural Property Section at the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts, phone 02 6274 1810 or email movable.heritage@environment.gov.au CITES Regulations It is the buyer’s sole responsibility to comply with all export and import regulations relating to your purchases and also to obtain any relevant export and/or import licences.
