General Information

Mission Statement

To provide affordable, quality programs meeting the needs of the community. We are committed to providing active and passive leisure opportunities that are educational, fun and life- enriching. The Department promotes participation by all Lexington residents in safe, accessible, and well- maintained facilities.

Registration Information Registration is available online beginning February 22, 2021. Non- resident registration will begin March 15. We encourage you to visit our web page at lexingtonma.gov/ recreation. Registration is first come, first served. All participants must register, submit payment and a waiver release in order to be eligible to participate in a program. Register by May 1st and save $10 on all programs. We accept cash, check, MasterCard, VISA, or Discover for payments.

Requests are available online, or by calling. This confidential application process is through the Human Services Department. The amount of financial aid provided is determined by individual need and available funds through the Recreation Enterprise Fund. Thank you to the Fund for Lexington for supporting a portion of the annual scholarship funds.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be submitted in writing via the request form by May 1st. A $25.00 processing fee will be incurred for all cancellations unless otherwise noted. Cancellations received after May 1st do not qualify for a credit. Credit requests may be given for medical reasons and requires a physician?s note to process a credit request. The remaining balance will be in the form of a credit to the household account in which the original registration was made. Day Camp LexRec S.O.A.R - (Summer Outdoor Arts & Recreation) LexRec S.O.A.R is a theme- based day camp program open to children ages 4- 11 (entering Pre- K through Grade 5 as of September 2021). Each week, the campers will participate in a wide variety of theme- related games, sports, nature activities, group/ team challenges, create wonderful crafts projects, and water activities. The Center Recreation Complex, Playground, Track and Field, and Town Pool will be our outdoor space with indoor classrooms and the gymnasium at the High School. All staff are CPR and First Aid certified and have had successful CORI and SORI background checks. All participants must be toilet trained and physical/ immunization record required at time of registration. This camp must comply with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and be licensed by the local Board of Health. Fee:

Tennis Youth Tennis Lessons Instructors will teach children techniques and principles established by the USTA using the Net Generation curriculum. This exciting lesson and play format for learning tennis is designed to bring children into the game all tailored to age and size. Instructors utilize specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions, and modified scoring. Lessons will have 6:1 children- to- staff ratio. Participants must bring a tennis racquet, sunscreen, and a water bottle. This lesson will take place rain or shine unless otherwise noted. Fee:

Minuteman Sports Clinics Junior Golf

Instruction will focus on golf etiquette, rules of play, and other focal points within the game of golf. Players must have playing experience and provide their own equipment. This program encourages teenage golfers to play with friends, while improving their game. Each time on the course will allow participants to reinforce previously taught skills. Instructor: Brian Boucher, LPS P.E. teacher.

This clinic is for any child who would like to participate on a school track team or simply wants to have fun and learn some regular exercise techniques. Skateboarding Clinic Participants will get comfortable riding around and using the Skate Park features. Open to beginners and experienced riders. Participants must bring a skateboard and helmet. Knee, elbow, and wrist pads are encouraged. Instructor: Danny Zuccaro

Therapeutic Recreation LexRec S.O.A.R. 2021 CIT Program! Take advantage of this unique opportunity to be a C.I.T. (Counselor in Training). During the program participants will create meaningful relationships, participate in leadership opportunities, and gain hands- on experience working at camp. Interested applicants must be entering at least 9th grade. Our program is inclusive, applicants of all abilities are encouraged to apply. The registration fee is $285 for session 1 and $315 for sessions 2- 4. Adaptive Tennis Learn the game of tennis while having fun with peers! Youth Programs Summer 3v3 Basketball

Summer In- Town Basketball League is an organized recreation program to continue the development in basketball skills through game play. Players will be placed onto a team and play two games on their designated days. The league will run for 5 weeks with the top 2 teams playing an additional game to determine the league champion. We will be looking for volunteer coaches to help manage and run teams for all leagues. Please indicate during registration if you would like to help coach. Circuit Lab: Circuit Makers 101 & All About Robotics

In this junior hands- on electronics class, students create their own electronics; design custom light- up greeting cards, electric games, mazes, and musical instruments. Circuitry lessons and hands- on electronics, using lights, buzzers, switches, motors, and sensors. We provide fun, hands- on instruction to write, debug, and execute computer programs. Children experiment with electronics and circuitry, as well as designing their own interactive/ programmable devices. Arduino (build interactive devices) and Raspberry Pi (to learn about computers/ coding) are used to experiment with LEDs, resistors, motors, and programming. Each day your child will design a hands- on project. How do phone apps work? In this no- experience- required course, use MIT App Inventor software to make fun, creative apps for Android phones and tablets. Build custom Bluetooth hardware controllers for apps. Archery Archery is an individual sport that provides the opportunity for anyone to do well. The benefits of archery include exercise, mental focus, self- discipline, and social interaction with peers. This program teaches the fundamentals of good form, technique, and how to be safe. Taught by Shawn Bowlby who has 20+ years of experience and has won the national indoor championship 8 times. Archery equipment is provided and will be sanitized and disinfected after every class.

How to Solve the Rubiks Cube Two Lexington High School Students will teach you step by step on how to solve the 3x3 Rubiks cube. Both students can solve the cube in under 10 seconds, and will teach you tips and tricks to lower your times. No experience is necessary.

Amazing Make & Take Home Science Experiments

Each day the kids will explore 20 weird and wacky hands- on science experiments and will make and take home all the projects. The scientists are fast paced and funny and your kids will be thoroughly entertained (they?ll even learn some Beginner Chess interesting things too). Work in groups to create Lego sets and Lego characters where you will storyboard, shoot, and add voice- overs for your characters.

IncrediFlix Action Stop Motion & Minecraft Vs Roblox Flix! In the morning you will use stop motion tricks to create fires, explosions, and floods! Your characters will have to battle it out or work together to save the day in the action- packed stop motion morning. The fun continues in the afternoon where you will make a Minecraft, Roblox, or a mashup movie. Choose your action figures to create a movie full of games or challenges to overcome. Both classes work in small groups to create and voice- over your movies.

Sports Camps Blue Sox Baseball Camp* With an emphasis on skill development aimed at student- athletes who want to play baseball at a competitive level, this program is an opportunity for children to learn the ins and outs of baseball. Skyhawks STEM & Play Soccer* Skyhawks Sports Academy has partnered with STEM Sports®to offer a first- of- its- kind program that explores the science behind sports. The program will follow creative and strategic curriculum that is aligned with Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Using the ShortGolf®system as its curriculum, which utilizes a set of equipment designed for beginning golfers, including oversized plastic club heads and "mini tennis balls" to help build confidence and to have fun. Viking Soccer Camp*

Register by May 1st and save $10 on all programs! F.A.S.T. Athletics Flag Football* This program will teach everyone game strategies, catching techniques, and most importantly how to work together as a team. Campers will participate in different situational games such as Red Zone Defense, Fourth and Inches, and the QB Challenge as they learn the importance of fair play. Each class will end with a simulated game broken down into 4 quarters ? the coaches will have plays ready to go for their teams!

Thundercat Sports Flag Football* Participants will learn fundamental skills from coaches through unique drills, games, and teaching techniques. Skills taught include passing, catching, running, offensive/ defensive strategies, and more. Every participant receives a Thundercat football, t- shirt, and certificate of achievement.

F.A.S.T. Athletics Pre- K Mini Sports* This program is a combination of warm- up games and sports such as soccer, kickball, and T- Ball. It will ease children into learning the basics of all these great games as well as teaching them the importance of teamwork! Each day, there will have new and exciting games planned for the participants.

Challenger International Soccer Camp* In addition to taking part in a daily regimen of foot skill development, technical and tactical practices, and daily tournament style play, each child will also be treated to a rich cultural experience and lessons on teamwork, sportsmanship, and self- discipline. Participants should bring a soccer ball & shin guards.

Viking Multi- Sports Camp* This camp includes a fun variety of sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball, flag football, dodgeball, kickball, capture the flag, street hockey, team handball, watermelon, gaga ball, reindeer tails, and many other sports and camp activities. This camp is designed to promote regular physical activity, sportsmanship, and values.

Participants will learn the basic and advanced techniques of soccer including dribbling, passing, receiving, and shooting. The camp is kept lively with games such as Goalie Wars, Dynasty, and Line Soccer. The camp will conclude with the Viking World Cup! Participants should bring a soccer ball and shin guards. Viking Ninja Warrior Camp* This high- energy camp is where Boot Camp meets Ninja Warrior. Children engage in a variety of activities that improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, and agility.
