Registration Information Registration begins Tuesday, March 1st, 2022. Non-resident registration begins Tuesday, March 15th, 2022. $50 per program nonrefundable deposit due upon registration. Balance due by Sunday, May 1st. We encourage you to visit our web page at lexingtonma.gov/ recreation. Registration is first come, first served. All participants must register, submit payment and a waiver release in order to be eligible to participate in a program. We accept cash, check, MasterCard, VISA, or Discover for payments.
Financial Aid Requests are available online or by calling. This confidential application process is through the Human Services Department. The amount of financial aid provided is determined by individual need and available funds through the Recreation Enterprise Fund. Thank you to the Fund for Lexington for supporting a portion of the annual scholarship funds.
Cancellation Policy Cancellations must be submitted in writing via the online request form by Sunday, May 1st. A $25.00 processing fee will be incurred for all cancellations unless otherwise noted. Cancellations received less than two weeks prior to the start of a program or service do not qualify for a credit. Credit requests may be given for medical reasons and requires a physicians note to process a credit request. The remaining balance will be in the form of a credit to the household account in which the original registration was made. In the event a program is canceled due to low enrollment or inclement weather (only when a make-up is not available), a full refund will be given. Credits are available up to one calendar year from the date given.

LexRec S.O.A.R. (Summer Outdoor Arts & Recreation)* This theme-based day camp program is open to children ages 4-11 (entering Pre-K through Grade 5 as of September 2022). Each session, the campers will participate in a wide variety of theme-related games, sports, nature activities, group/team challenges, create wonderful crafts projects, and swim at the Town Pool! The field and amenities at the Center Recreation Complex , including the Center Playground, Center Track and Field, and Town Pool will be our outdoor space with Lexington High School classrooms and gym available for use during high heat and inclement weather. All staff are CPR and First Aid certified and have had successful CORI and SORI background checks. All participants must be toilet trained.

Adaptive Tennis Lessons $135 Resident • $145 Non-Resident Adaptive Tennis Lessons are available to children and teens who identify with having a disability and/ or may require additional support and modifications to be successful within the program. The lessons are run at a slower pace with smaller class sizes and staff who have been trained to work with individuals of all abilities. All levels are welcome as the class will go over basic strokes while playing games, practicing skills, providing social interaction with others, and having fun!

Youth Tennis Lessons Our Youth Tennis staff is looking forward to a fun summer! Instructors will teach techniques and principles established by the USTA using the Net Generation curriculum with an exciting lesson and play format, designed to bring children into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions, and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. Lessons will take place each week Monday through Friday (rain or shine) unless otherwise noted. All lessons will be held at the Gallagher Tennis Courts at the Center Recreation Complex on Worthen Road. Lessons will have 6:1 childrento-staff ratio. Drill work will emphasize match and tournament play and participants will be exposed to different tournament styles and gain experience through daily practice. Minuteman PDP Girls Basketball & Leadership $225 Resident • $235 Non-Resident Join some of Lexington's top basketball coaches this summer for a fun basketball development program to improve basketball skills, leadership skills, and build confidence on and off the court. LHS Head Coach Steve Solly (licensed by USA Basketball as a "Gold-Level" coach, named 2015-2016 Division 1 North Coach of the Year) and assistant coach Adrienne Mugar (former professional athlete and Boston University captain) pride themselves on making this a truly transformative week. The program is challenging yet developmentally appropriate for rising 6th-10th grade girls to help improve confidence and decision making on the basketball court. This clinic features detail-oriented basketball skills and concepts as well as an exciting sports leadership curriculum on a daily basis. This program, which will be led by Josh Sideman, LHS P.E. teacher, will focus on gradual skill development of the various skills associated with floor hockey (stick handling, shooting, passing, etc.) and also some game-related strategies. The clinic will end with a modified Floor Hockey Stanley Cup Playoff.
Experience a new approach to Track and Field under the direction of James Hall, LHS Boys Indoor / Outdoor Track Head Coach and USA Track and Field Level II coach. The co-ed clinic is for any child who would like to participate on a school track team or simply have fun and learn some exercise techniques. Daily activities practice a variety of track events and learn the tenets of proper fitness.

THE TOWN POOL FACILITY & RESERVOIR OPENS JUNE 4, 2022. The Irving H. Mabee Town Pool is located at 80 Worthen Road at the Center Recreation Comlex. Programs offered are American Red Cross swim lessons, adult aqua aerobics, swim team and adult lap swim. The Reservoir is located at 451 Marrett Rd, where you are able to kayak, fish, and or swim. Passes are available for purchase online for both residents and non-residents. Residents who have a key fob to the Community Center or swim pass from last year may use those for this season for renewing 2022 passes.

For the beginner who is comfortable in the water. Swimmers learn basics of swimming: bobbing, going under water, supported front and back floating, supported rolling over from front to back and back to front, supported gliding, supported flutter kick, supported front crawl arms and jumping in.
Swimmers should already be able to swim front and back crawl 25 yards. Swimmers will work on rotary breathing, freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, scissors kick and sidestroke, whip kick and breaststroke, intro to turning at wall, treading water with modified scissors, and diving in kneeling position.

Swimmers should already be able to float on front and back and put their head under water. Swimmers will work on independent front and back floating, independent rolling over from front to back and back to front, independent front and back glides, front crawl arms and kicks, back crawl arms and kicks, retrieving underwater objects, and jumping into water over their head.
Level 3 Swimmers should already be comfortable swimming front stroke and swimming on their back. Swimmers will work on: gliding, freestyle with side breathing, backstroke, breast stroke and dolphin kicks, retrieving objects in deeper water, treading water, jumping into deep water and compact dives.

Swimmers will work on alternate breathing, stride jump, refinement of: freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, breaststroke, dolphin kick and butterfly, open turn on front and back, feet-first surface dive, and treading water.
Level 6 Personal Water Safety: Refine your swim strokes, prevent aquatic emergencies, and practice self-rescue techniques. Basketball Leagues Summer 3V3 Girls Basketball League $85 Resident • $95 Non-Resident Summer In-Town 3V3 Basketball is an organized program to continue the development in basketball skills through game play. Players will be placed onto a team and play two games a week on their designated days. The league will run for 5 weeks with the last week being playoff match ups. We will be looking for volunteer coaches to help manage and run teams for all leagues. Please indicate during registration if you would like to help coach. There will be no sessions the week of July 4th and the program will resume starting the week of July 11th.

Summer 3V3 Boys Basketball $85 Resident • $95 Non-Resident Summer In-Town 3V3 Basketball League is an organized recreation program to continue the development in basketball skills through game play. Players will be placed onto a team and play two games a week on their designated days. The league will run for 5 weeks with the last week being playoff match ups. We will be looking for volunteer coaches to help manage and run teams for all leagues. Please indicate during registration if you would like to help coach. There will be no sessions the week of July 4th and the program will resume starting the week of July 11th.

Beginner: Chess is a fun and strategic game that can improve decision-making, strategic thinking, analytical skills, and more. Learn the names of pieces, how they move, basic tactics, openings, checkmates, and endgames. Classes include 3040 minutes of instruction with 20-30 minutes of supervised play.

Circuit Makers: In this junior hands-on electronics class, students create their own electronics; design custom light-up greeting cards, electric games, mazes, and musical instruments. Circuitry lessons and hands-on electronics, using lights, buzzers, switches, motors, and sensors. Robotic Commanders: Understanding how software can interact with robots is a key skill for the STEM jobs of tomorrow. We provide several active, playful activities, where students learn about what it means to write, debug, and execute computer programs that communicate with different robotic devices. Using the power of code, students will turn Sphero SPRK+ robots into Magic 8 Balls, automated Red Light / Green Light games, and the arcade classic Pong – and Unruly Splats will become our voting machines, relay races, guessing games, and more.

Circuit Lab - Hands On Electronics & App Inventors Children experiment with electronics and circuitry, as well as designing their own interactive/ programmable devices. Each day your child will design a handson project. How do phone apps work? Students will bring creativity to life in a fun, collaborative, and exciting environment. Learn skills in scriptwriting, storyboard sketching, improvisation, and camera skills. Students who have previously participated in our program will be able to expand on their skills. Together they will write, and shoot a film in a genre of their choice, then edit their project with Adobe Premiere. All final projects are eligible for submission into the Boston International Kids Film Festival 2022.
Students will learn the principles of Animation and produce a short film using objects found around the house and brought to class (suggestions will be given prior to the first day of the program). This course requires a touch screen device with access to the free app Stop Motion Studio (available for iPods, iPhones, iPads, Androids, etc).

Family Transportation Bike ride
Family Friendly Group Bike Ride — $5 Resident • $5 Non-Resident Join with other local families on an bike ride led by a Certified Cycling Instructor and local cycling experts. See how fun it can be to ride as a family and in a group, and feel comfortable knowing you will have skilled cycling experts joining you! The ride will begin with a quick safety overview, then proceed joyfully with family friendly music to a kid friendly location. All participants must wear helmets, bring bikes, and wear closed-toe shoes. All children participating must be riding with a parent or guardian. Children who ride must be able to pedal their bicycle, control it well, follow instructions from adults, and sustain riding at a jogging pace. Smart Cycling Teens — $49 Resident • $59 Non-Resident Grow your skills and confidence in cycling along with other local teens! Class will include bike handling drills, education on rules of the road, and safety tips, basic bike maintenance tips, understanding of proper bike fit, helmet fit, and then end with an escorted on-bike road ride.
