Therapeutic Recreation Therapeutic Recreation programs are designed to be inclusive of those with a disability, medical condition or life challenge. Therapeutic Recreation programs are open to individuals of all abilities and aim to either maintain or improve physical skills, social, emotional skills, peer relationships and the overall quality of life for participants. What is an inclusive program or all ability program? Inclusive programs are designed to accommodate the needs of all participants within a program. Do I have to have a disability to be in an inclusive or all ability program? No! Inclusion is when individuals with and without disabilities are participating together. Inclusion is beneficial for individuals with and without a disability. What are inclusion services? Inclusion services provide individuals with the resources and supports needed to be successful within a program. Inclusion services are individualized to fit the needs of each person and can be in the form of program/activity modifications, increased staffing, visual supports and behavior supports. Are inclusion services only for kids? No! Inclusion services can be provided for youth, teens, adults and seniors! Inclusion services are provided year round in all Recreation sponsored programs.
