EDITOR'S LETTER BY MARIE SOUDRÉ-RICHARD FOUNDER
Summer 2010… this seems like something out of a sci-fi movie from the 60’s. I’m sure you will agree that time seems to go by so quickly! Here at LFG we never seem to stop what with always being on the ball, following trends and of course trying to create new ones. Whilst this year has been far from easy for the world of designers, it is encouraging to see that there are still those out there willing to take risks. Take a look at our new selection of cutting edge designers: Chloé, Kid by 3.1 Phillip Lim and Vilebrequin, as well as the chic selection of push chairs from Mc Laren and Silver Cross. 4
We hope you’ll agree that this Little Fashion Book is a liberating and inspirational place. This season, we were inspired by mythological stories with their iconic and playful characters. Transported back to our childhood thinking about Zeus, Icarus, Theseus, we wanted to bring them into your child’s world. They are sure to be a source of inspiration and curiosity for you and your children. LFG is always on the lookout for great basics as well as directional and original niche pieces. This season we wanted to bring you a new vision of design using colour analysis. Nacarat is a colour agency specialising in the analysis of colours and their meanings. They have created a colour guide accompanied with didactic, poetic and accurate texts. Find them on page 28.
Yet again our ad visual for this season is about breaking conventions. A photo taken by Patrick Swirc of Al Gore has stayed in my mind for a long time. The photo is of a man, standing with a serene yet challenging expression, on his right hand side is the image of a monstrous, deformed face. This contrast was the foundation of our image. In our ad visual you can see Paul, in his own world yet, at the same time he is disrupting this world. In the image Paul plays two roles; that of the child and the monster. Far away from this mythical and outlandish world is The Medium Fashion Gallery. Images created by Carl-Oskar Linné show an accurate vision of teenagers, capturing both their awkwardness and gangly charm.
CLARA DAYET'S NOTE FASHION EDITOR & STYLIST
Heracles dons his Opera costume and hums a tune in A minor. This season, his mythology fits perfectly with Rameau: red velvet curtains and baroque music, this season’s collections look great as rhymes and songs. With the help of Edith Hamilton’s bible, I tried to decipher the misadventures of these mythological heroes and multi-membered monsters. So involved was I, that there were times when I felt as though I were really having tea with Minotaur. Admittedly, my Zeus is rather ironic whilst my Icarus writes poetry. The set? It is of colossal proportions, but only in our imagination! A gigantic tree
with golden apples weighing heavily on its branches, a golden chariot pulls the Night and the muses have brightly coloured dots. However that doesn’t stop the titans from being far better dressed than in any previous Odyssey! Boys will be inspired to be even bigger super heroes. The Gods and Goddesses wear white well, the iconic colour of this issue. White is omnipresent, it is most definitely the colour of the season and is at the heart of the Battle of Troy – let’s find out why! Come and follow this flock of mini marathoners as they go past the Mount Olympus and then return to the Opéra Garnier. As soon as you arrive the curtain will go up and the orchestra will begin to play… applaud!

THE MUSES’ PARADE ACT I SCENE 1
The sun is rising. I’m the sun, come and see how much I can shine! I’m floodlighting Mount Olympus! APHRODITE appears on a cloud Amusing muses, divine dancers, Grab your spots and make them dots, Snap your fingers, Play some music, something soft She snaps her fingers. The five muses begin to move like jumping jacks. Aphrodite, still on her cloud, pretends to play the harpsichord. As soon as she plays a note, one of the muses opens her mouth and sings it. Meanwhile, Pandora has joined Aphrodite and approves wholeheartedly. The muses twirl around, cross the stage and make cheerful pirouettes. 9
Knock twice. The orchestra falls silent. PANDORA sings in an over-articulated way Gather your dots Your lyres and your thoughts Count yourselves three times, in order, for here [he comes. The muses adjust their colourful dresses and stand in line in the centre of the stage. A light beam unveils the head of a rooster in the sky. All the muses look up. A sweet melody is played while Heracles is speaking. HERACLES Muse, take your harp and play this rhyme. Mnemosyne obeys. I will tell you the story of the Night. The other Muses turn around while taking small dance steps. The Night fathered seven times. A C major marks the end of the sentence. The sun disappears into the wings, preceding a large moon.
10
THE NIGHT BALLET ACT I, SCENE 2
The Night appears on a chariot pulled by owls, followed by the waltz of the Hours. Two Games have scrambled into the group. The stage is in darkness, only the characters are illuminated. The orchestra plays a tune in G flat major. THE HOURS, chorus, three times The Games and the Loves Don’t always reign above! THE GAMES, chorus Let’s chase the stars and the Night Egg-shaped Earth is awake, Let’s unveil the bright celestial light! All of them dance together then take a bow. Six O’Clock pulls the first Game’s ear who then sashays to the side. The Night points at the two characters who come towards the front of the stage. 14
15
SIX O’CLOCK accompanied by a flute O Beautiful Night, it is six o’clock! I have to go and find Sleep, Old Age and Dream. These glorious days go by just like a stream. A golden deer dashes onto the stage with Love on its back. Love counts the hours, the right way up, the wrong way up, then gets down from the deer and moves to the centre of the stage. The darkness slowly fades away as he speaks. LOVE Of the twelve hours, Eleven have passed. Young Games, follow my deer On the other side of Olympus, Hercles is lifting up the sky, Stroking the clouds and cradling the marvels. Night, cease the passing of your hours as inside one of them, Heracles will tumble and the apples [will crumple. Love gets back onto the deer and leaves the stage followed by the chariot, the Hours and the Games. Curtain falls. 16

THE MUSES’ PARADE TREND: ACTION PAINTING
Muses from the Arts try their hand at being painters. Flicking paint with toothbrushes or delicately daubing to transform skirts, dresses and cardigans into real master pieces. Using red and pink palettes, these brush strokes can be dots or abstract splodges. The looks are romantic; the young ladies combine robins and finches with the swirls, however the duck is the king this season. Feather headbands are the accessory this season, the Muse may like to mess around with paint but she still likes to look adorable!

NIGHT TIME BALLET TREND: STAR DUST
The Milky Way is the inspiration for this season’s evening collection. Delicately powdered, and stylishly smoky; this season’s colour palette is seen in the stars. Pale pink is seen with inky blue, whilst frosty black and grey are used as accent colours. Look up at the sky! The Moon looks like a cat with a moustache, whilst the constellations are embedded into knitted bloomers. The Night loves sequins and shooting stars: sparkly ballerinas, bows and embroidered pearls, all shine with a hint of silver. The wind blows the frills and flounces whilst the planets spin around.

MALOLES ANTIGNAC, MALOLES DESIGNER LFG INTERVIEWS
Maloles adore. Her passion is so infectious that it makes us passionate too! Maloles tingles with excitement when she speaks; it makes us want to be exactly like her. Her passion seeps out of every pore, and talking to her you can’t help but notice her zest for life and shoes! The inspiration behind Maloles came from travelling; it’s no surprise that this nurtured 22
her desire to create a shoe that was like a second-skin. She has definitely succeeded in creating a shoe that is for travelling and walking, as well as being incredibly supple, lightweight and trend conscious. Since 2004, world-wide fashionistas can’t wait to get their hands on the latest styles from the likes of Keira Knightley to Drew Barrymore. If she was only able to keep one pair of shoes would she keep one of her own creations,
surprisingly not! Although we would! Let us not forget about Petite Maloles, a labour of love that was inspired by her two daughters Olympia and Anna. Clara : Could you paint us a picture of a typical Maloles shoe? Maloles : Each and every one of my shoes has a strong visual and graphic identity whilst being poetic and heart-warming.
I love the element of surprise and the magic of the heart’s desires. I also love, in the second degree, to take conventional, strict norms and take them out of their context, for example; mixing up the traditional liberty print, playing around with volumes, and imposing objects. For me, each shoe is a jewel; its creation is not rational but entirely emotional. What is your designing process? I am very influenced by beauty and the environment that surrounds me, whether that be an exhibition, a book, an inspiring material, that is all it takes for an idea to be born. After that, I start to think about ribbons, sparkles and the shape of the heel. It is just like creating a recipe, a sprinkling of magic and everything becomes clear. I also like to test things out in my head by visualizing and scribbling different designs. A shoe is a 3D object, it is all about playing with proportions – it can be a great success or a complete failure just because of 2mm.
A single source of inspiration: Food and smells, especially those that surround my daughters. A timeless place: Ibiza, j'adore. Friends, pine trees, the sea, the aromas of Spanish dishes, the light, children playing, the laughs and jokes… A timeless shoe: The ballet pump of course! A colour you love: Turquoise, j'adore. But it’s a difficult colour to use on shoes.. An influencial artistic movement: Abstract expressionism, painters such as Rothko, Calder, Elizabeth Payton – I would love to have one of their paintings! An inspirational historical period: The Victorian era, I think it is a period that is enriched in many different areas. A cult film: Métropolis. A song you’ll never forget: The ‘Mama’ of Olympia, I can see in her eyes that she wants to say so much more than that. A food that you dislike: Cooked carrots - I hate them! A dream: To be able to play with time. Interview by Clara Dayet, translated by Cassie Hearn Photos: Carl-Oskar Linné 23
THETIS’ SHOES THE NAIAD WITH SILVER FEET
Thetis is a sea goddess. She collects fresh water, winkles and shiny shoes. Thetis is also Achilles’ mother; unfortunately he died because of his heel and his mother. She was too busy admiring her pretty feet; she forgot to spray his heel with Styx water. To punish her, Zeus made her drink a cup of it. Ever since, the goddess cries sand tears onto her silvery shoes.

JENNIFER WARD, CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF MINOR DETAILS LFG INVITES
Minor Details is a children’s interior consulting firm focusing on collaboration with parents to bring about an imaginative and constructive space for their family to thrive in. As a former Architectural project manager, Jennifer Ward, the Creative Director of Minor Details, and dear friend of LFG since its launch, has developed a personal appreciation of design. Her approach emphasises independent imaginative play, and developmentally appropriate challenges while maintaining a fresh aesthetic. Minor Details offers consulting services such as architectural and structural concepts, renovation, furnishings, color studies, etc‌. while also providing recreational design for children's spaces. Jennifer Ward : When I first started my company, Minor Details, it was driven by my own acceptance that there was a lack of 26
well-considered design for children. With the birth of my daughter, I had this ideal that everyone designed clothing, furniture and spaces in the same realm that I see beauty and consideration. I was swiftly and sadly disappointed. But rather than sulk in my new found misery, I decided to do something about it. When I stumbled upon LFG, I instantly understood that someone else had the same ideals in place‌but for clothing. The curations, the brand, the minimal aesthetic of what it embodied was a breath of fresh air. It was not until I actually met Marie one afternoon in Paris that it all became solidified. So when I was asked to grace these very pages, I was honored and humbly accepted. The philosophy behind Minor Details steams from the ideal that children have the right to beautiful yet functional environments. One thing that I try to convey to all of my clients
is that you don't have to sacrifice your own personal aesthetic because you have children. There is a melody within the walls of every day life that can be both beautiful and stimulating at the same time...with the right direction. That's where I come in. Igniting curiosity and wonder within the mind of a child is my main goal. I approach this challenge with each individual child in mind. One of the trends that I’ve noticed is the need to be green. In my opinion,
this does not have to be limited to new greener, better products, but rather include vintage children’s furniture as well. I’m very tired of the instilled corporate ideal of chunky plastic, primary colored toys and play structures. One trend that I’m currently enjoying is the mix of gray and monochrome tones. There is something special about a peaceful and serene palette with pops and subtle hints of color. www.minordetailsnyc.com

Fiery and passionate, orange is definitely an optimistic colour that will stop at nothing. Full of vigour, it’s fearless; radiant and glowing, it practically explodes with the sheer pleasure of giving pleasure. It’s an entertainer and comedian and everyone loves its rich vitality. In a surge of sociability, it surrounds itself with the cream of warm colours. Whenever it makes an appearance, there’s usually some kind of witty touch, which will amuse even those who tend to be quite formal - orange is definitely very contagious! The range of shades is like a Bengali fire that roars and sparkles at dusk, then slowly dies down to spread a soft glow for the rest of the night. Go wild with orange and let it awaken all the fire and passion within you!

We think of white as pure and innocent, but it’s actually quite crafty. It can quietly invade our interior décor without us even noticing! But a lot of people would think of it as colourless? Not at all! Only white can catch the light and its thousand little reflects to create subtle nuances: it has a pink hue at dawn, becomes blue-ish under the sky and is set aflame at sunset. So, far from being neutral, white has its own moods but always seems bright. It’s easy to capture its accents! White is brilliant and sparkling, but can be livened up with just the merest hint of colour. A touch of blue, a soupcon of green, or a pinch of turquoise will highlight its tone. The four whites in our range are all stars in their own right, each with its own particular freshness to help create original subtle and special tones. Innocence also knows how to express itself from its little prose, you’ll be able to detect a knowing smile!

Random and erratic, green is never where you might expect it to be. It’s sometimes associated with nature, sometimes linked to luck or to chance. Enjoy the game! Is it good or bad fortune? Is Mother Nature playing mind games with us? Goethe, the naturalist, saw green as the most soothing of all colours. Our little collection of seven greens can be mixed and matched with very fresh pink, very soft agate and with a very slightly frosty antique pink; green is sometimes happy, sometimes a little cunning. Use it freely - it’s like a real fountain of youth! It can be as tender as spring and as deep as a beautiful mountain lake. Green - the liberated one - if you understand it, you’ll know how to blend it to greatest effect.

Natural tones come and go, one minute they’re in, the next they’re out. Beige is often associated with raw materials, perhaps a little rough and ready, but actually, beige is softness personified. It’s definitely not dull, and can be full of surprises: look at how it becomes brighter when combined with pastel colours; and it’s at its best when it catches the light from a dazzling sun – but beware of putting it next to colours that are too bright. Beige is very refined and doesn’t like to mix with just anyone! It’s as light as a feather and as silky as cotton wool, but under the moonlight, it seems as if it’s getting a little merry, happy as a bluebird, playing in the lilac mist! What suits beige best, though, is the colour of a burning sun, the blue of the Aegean sea, a few drops of wax or Dedale and its Minotaur! What’s absolutely sure is that beige will no longer leave you cold…

After gold, yellow is the archetypal sunshine colour. Of all the colours of the chromatic spectrum, it is the lightest and most luminous as well as being one of our three primary colours. It’s a simple colour, yet full of energy, sometimes even a little electric, sometimes a touch tangy and at other times, it’s spicy when it becomes saffron. The golden fleece of the winged ram contains precious gold dust. As a trophy of light, this golden yellow reveals the supreme path to anyone who, like Jason, wishes to conquer the mountains. Eight colours unite around two neat yellows, Solstice and Orpiment: their energies are channelled in calm beiges and greys whereas two deep tones, Midnight blue and Eclipse, electrify its waves of light to re-create a sky sprinkled with stars.

LOÏCA BONINI DESIGNER FOCUS
The Loïca Bonini brand is a family story based on shared traditions. Designed to span different generations, the Loïca Bonini clothes for little boys (0-2 years) are timeless and of an exceptional quality. The designer is French but lives in Italy, so the Loïca Bonini collections take the best of both these nationalities, combining French refinement with exquisite Italian knowhow. The products are beautiful, basic and modest, explains Loïca. The brand is all about offering a basic wardrobe rather than creating a total look. Each and every piece is made from outstanding materials, the poplins are the same as those used by the big names in men’s shirts, and the designer uses traditional threads for the knitwear: Loro Piana cashmere, camel wool, and organic Indian cotton. The finishing touches are so absolutely perfect that they’ll leave you speechless! 42

KID BY 3.1 PHILLIP LIM DESIGNER FOCUS
The designer Phillip Lim is the new idol on the New York fashion scene. Everyone loves his catwalk collections: he designs simple, structured shapes but always with a quirky detail, which is his trademark. This summer, his inspiration comes from Picasso’s collages from the Dada period. The show opens with a scarlet suit, but it’s in one piece. It’s the suit of tomorrow, says the designer - it’s practical, elegant and machinewashable. Phillip Lim likes to create wearable clothes and the Kid collection by Phillip Lim certainly adheres to this rule. He launched a children’s range in 2007: a concept called mommy & me that helped develop the brand. Kid by Phillip Lim maintains all the same qualities as the adult collection; comfortable clothes combined with directional design. The brand is incredibly exclusive, only available from very selective outlets. 43

Fifi Lapin is mad about fashion. On her blog, fifi-lapin.blogspot.com, Fifi wears the most gorgeous outfits from the catwalk shows! This season, Fifi has chosen a cult romantic dress by ChloĂŠ from LFG, which she wears with a bow on her ear and ballet pumps: a perfect outfit for summer! The rabbit is a faithful companion and wise counsellor to the Gods. With his long ears and mischievous look, he’s very discreet and doesn’t actually make an appearance in either The Iliad or The Odyssey. A inconspicuous choice. Rabbit lamp, Egmont Toys. 51
JESS CARTNER-MORLEY, FASHION EDITOR LFG INVITES
Jess Cartner-Morley, fashion editor of The Guardian, gives us her guide for this summer trends. Jess Carnter-Morley:Watching the Summer 2010 catwalk shows, I fell in love with sunshine yellow trousers (at Balenciaga) and bird-print dresses (at Miu Miu), sand-toned, clean-cut dresses (everywhere) and even cute clogs (ditto). Do I want them in my wardrobe? Maybe not: yellow is not the most forgiving shade, and animal prints look a bit literal-minded on grown-ups. But that's not to say I'm not going to buy them: I will buy them for my children, instead. That is the joy of children's fashion. Catwalks and magazines lay out before us a glittering selection of looks, like a giant box of expensive chocolates. For ourselves, we have to exercise a little restraint - it seldom 52

does a grown woman any favours to wear every look from the catwalk, any more than it does to demolish a whole box of chocolates - but with our children, we can indulge. Clothes that would look plain daft on grown-ups look absolutely magical on children. But dressing children as a mum rather than a fashion stylist starts, of course, with comfort and quality. Much as we would love to have photographs on the mantelpiece of our little darlings in the finery that most catches our eye, we know all too well that dress a child in a sweater that itches or a party dress that is too rigid and the results will be the very opposite of picture-perfect. Making children feel comfortable starts with the best fabrics, the most well-thought-out outfits. The treasured outfit is the one that both you and your son or daughter love -
and that, perhaps, a sibling or godchild will wear in the future. Those are the outfits of which happy memories are made. Summer 2010 is full of delights in childrenswear. Buttercup yellow and periwinkle blue both look fabulous on peachy young complexions. The natureinspired prints that were everywhere kittens, puppies and swalllows at Miu Miu, spiders at Giles Deacon, butterfly wings at McQueen - will appeal to childish eyes as much as to ours. Christopher Kane's tablecloth ginghams are a childrenswear summer classic. Summer 2010 looks at its most beautiful, when seen through childish eyes. 1 Alexander McQueen 2 Miu Miu 3 Moshino Cheap & Chic 4 Balenciaga Photos: Marcio Madeira et GaĂŤtam Bernard
THE GARDEN OF THE HESPERIDES ACT II SCENE 1
Heracles stands still on the stage. It’s dawn and the light is pale pink. Right in front of him Atlas, all dressed in white, holds the sky upon his shoulders. Heracles calls him. HERACLES staying away from Atlas The wonderful Hesperides, O Atlas, Where are they? I can’t find these eternal golden apples, alas! ATLAS with the sun illuminating his face Young hero, I’m happy then To let you have my burden. In exchange for that you’re on expenses For the sixteen gold slices I’ll bring to delight [your senses. A huge tree is moved down onto the stage. While the set is put in place the orchestra plays a symphony alternatively military and bucolic, with kettledrums and trumpets playing in turn. 55
The golden apples swing on trapezes hanging from the branches of the tree. GOLDEN APPLES, chorus We live happy and merry In this friendly tree! Atlas moves closer and starts leaping around. The trapezes bring the apples down to the floor. They’re caught in the rhythm, now round dancing around Atlas. GOLDEN APPLES, chorus Titan, king of chaos, you’re easy to blame! We’ve been given away, it’s a shame Hero lied and you were lured And it’s on your shoulders that the world [was laid. The orchestra falls silent. The stage becomes dark blue while the tree slowly goes up to the ceiling. The Golden Apples escape to both wings of the stage.
57
58
59
THE TITANS’ SERMON ACT II SCENE 2 The stage is empty. Atlas loses his temper and expresses his anger in a heated monologue in C major. The sound of his voice is almost covered by the intense music played by the orchestra. A flash of lightening and six Titans appear. CRONOS and THETIS, together Fair Gods please help us! Our angry brother shall make no fuss Fair Gods please help us! The mass of clouds vanishes. The Titans move towards the front of the stage, standing in a straight line. Each of the following sentences is ended by a E played by the harpsichord. ATLAS Heracles lured me! CRONOS Heracles lured him! OCEAN Who will forgive him? OCEAN and THETIS together Who will forgive him? CRIOS beneath his mask Can you forgive him?
61
Crios throws off his mask. It’s Heracles. The Titans are panic-stricken and in turn sashay towards the back of the stage. The orchestra plays a short tune in A minor to accompany the words of the usurper. HERACLES his face illuminated by a white light Gigantic Titans, Fight your fury and tidy your stripes Forget your fervour and walk with pride Let’s do an arabesque! Mesmerised by the words of the Hero who’s finally set free, the Titans gracefully gather together. HERACLES, loudly Let’s celebrate my exploits, Let's sing together and dance for Victory! I am filled with joy, O Glory! The orchestra starts playing a long and bright prelude with alternatively brass bands of trumpets and sweet interludes of flutes. The Hero takes a bow. Curtain.

THE GARDEN OF HESPERIDES TREND: CANARY
The Golden Apple slips on her sunshine yellow dress, but she took her time: she was wavering between the pale baby-chick yellow or the deep honey. This summer, bright yellow dominates, dazzling and blazing like a shooting star. The collection is reminiscent of a country garden, with daisy collars and petal petticoats. Just like the stems of flowers, little girls will stand up straight, with a pretty headband in the shape of the sun. For boys, they’ll go for lilies, from pure white to more subtle shaded, faded tones. Sunglasses for all.

THE DANCE OF THE TITANS TREND: SEPIA MERRY-GO-ROUND
This summer sees stripes in all shapes and sizes, some more slanting than straight, some as slender as the skyline – and all of them a real hit amongst the Titans. Striking and loud, we love them in bright red, worn with dungarees or Bermuda shorts. The striped sailor’s smock is still the must-have of the summer; but with a twist this year: the colour is rich caramel or warm butter, worn with shorts or well cut jeans. All for maximum comfort - after all, not everyone can be a Titan. But wearing silver gladiator sandals, you can carry the world on your shoulders like Atlas and climb Mount Olympus without any problem.

AGLAOPE’S SWIMMING COSTUMES THE SIREN WITH THE BEAUTIFUL FACE A siren mermaid with copper scales, adorned with her prettiest swimming costume, to attract all the sailors with her sweet melody. Aglaope transforms them into Sea Foxes; they will then serve as decoration for her pearly seashell collection. Amongst them is Ulysse, he was trapped during his last journey. Poseidon shuts his eyes so that he doesn’t have to see these sad events unfold. He wouldn’t want to disturb her…everyone knows Aglaope has a horrid temper.

CATTI ÅMAN, TUSS DESIGNER LFG INTERVIEWS
When describing the Tuss collections, we automatically compare them to Bauhaus architecture: there’s a strict adherence to the austere shapes, the monochrome colours, the simple lines and clearly defined design. Catti includes these values in all her designs for Tuss and each season she cleverly reinvents them, because actually simplicity isn’t all that easy to achieve. She is inspired by Alvar Aalto, Arne Jacobsen, Helmut Lang and also A.P.C. Catti creates 70
timeless and functional clothes, with subtle details that sometimes you only notice when the garment is worn. At the children’s fashion trade shows, Tuss stands out because the main theme has not shifted one millimetre since February 2006: the design is consistent and apparent; Tuss is not fashion but a concept. For Catti, comfort and pleasure are the most important things when designing children's clothes. Her daughters seem to accept this
philosophy - even if the youngest occasionally asks for a pink princess dress! Clara: The lack of colours in the Tuss collection is very noticeable. Can you explain why? Catti: I love white, beige, grey and black and all the various tones of these colours. These colours symbolise calm and serenity to me, and when they are worn, they enhance the physical characteristics of people: if you wear a bright colour
or a strong print, the eye is attracted to the outfit rather than to the person who wears it. People often tell me that these are colours for adults and I think there is a tendency to classify children by gender and colour - blue for boys, pink for girls. Many of my designs are unisex, so each child can choose the outfit and the colour they like. Tell us about the Tuss shop in Stockholm? Who are your customers? After studying History of Art at l’École du Louvre in Paris, I went back to Stockholm and I knew I definitely wanted to create something on my own. Later, when I opened the new shop, Tuss was more than simply clothes; it was a concept. I designed the space so that it was like a compact unit full of useful things for kids, from white Converse shoes to Aigle wellies, from basic t-shirts to cashmere jumpers. I chose the products for their qualities and timeless style rather than for their brand.
I think that Tuss customers are people who are sensitive to design and architecture, who love black and the fact that logos are not visible. Main source of inspiration: my children An incomparable place: Stockholm A timeless outfit: a white t-shirt A colour that you adore: black An art movement that has inspired you: a lot of architecture such as the International Style, (from the Modern Movement of the 20’s) A period of history that inspires you: 20's - 50's A cult film: the Godfather Food that‘s definitely not you: paprika A Dream: more time

The hero chopped off the 99 heads without the slightest scratch, but the last one spits snakes. In a final surge, Heracles jumps on it. The dragon is defeated. To reward it for all of its many years of loyal service guarding the entrance of Hesperides’ garden, the goddess Hera places its remains on a blood red t-shirt, that’s incredibly rock’n’roll! LE MONT ST MICHEL LFG EXCLUSIVE
When the cult brand Le Mont St Michel decided to launch a children’s range, they wanted to create clothes that were mini versions of the best from the adult collection. A meeting between Marie Milan, Le Mont St Michel artistic director, and LFG got the project up and running. As the brand’s customers had been asking for a children’s range for a long time, it really was just a matter of time before it was launched. Marie Milan explains that the brand promotes an authentic image, and there’s something nostalgic in the name that’s linked to childhood. Like a postcard from a seaside holiday. The objective of the brand is to create a micro wardrobe consisting of essentials in hand-picked materials. The collection has lots of knitwear, always of the same inimitable quality for which the brand is renowned. The knitwear includes little striped jumpers and tartan cardigans. Best worn when you’re enjoying the culinary delights of Brittany! 76
KICOKIDS DESIGNER FOCUS
In each Kicokids collection, there’s something crazy and quirky. Every season, Tia Ciabani, the brand’s American designer, comes up with an incredibly creative and imaginative theme. The brand focuses mainly on knitwear and the clothes are perfectly constructed, in natural materials, that are always beautifully soft, comfortable and of very good quality. The inspiration for this season comes from the New York photographer Albert Delamour. Imagine a kaleidoscope and you’ll see how Tia has used splashes of primary colours on dresses and blocks of colour on boys’ knitted jumpers. She also pays careful attention to the details: golden mirror buttons, coloured zips, detachable necklaces… The accessories are fun, too, with reversible hats and a mini beret that’s an absolute must-have to wear with all of this summer outfits.

ZEUS’ LIBRARY THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE OF ALL GODS
Zeus likes reading, but only what he’s written himself. As Zeus is the king of the gods, he writes the past, the present and the future. From time to time, he writes lovely, funny books, in which he tells stories about what he’s seen happening on earth from his cloud. He talks about animals, men and moods, and he sorts out the world by colour. A Cyclops illustrates his stories, so that Zeus is able to stay absolutely focused on his writing.

FOLLOWING THE WHITE RABBIT THE LFG BOUTIQUE
Two little bright eyes. A mischievous look. The white rabbit by Egmont Toys1 on my desk suddenly comes to life. He’s bouncing down into the showroom and wants me to follow him… I hang up the phone, and follow the rabbit. Little Rabbit is hopping around in the aisles. Swirls and head spinning. Here I am inside a strangely familiar wooden house adorned with translucent and colourful panels2 … What’s happening to me? The showroom looks so huge for someone now so small! I keep on following my guide who is still in a hurry. A gigantic mushroom with its vermilion cap3 is standing in my way. I sneak into the maze of the showroom which unveils hundreds of wonders. Right upon a wall, a clan of squirrels is having a cheerful conversation with a band of blue and orange robots4. Around the corner a puzzling ceremony 80
seems to take place: sitting down on big green and pink clouds5, high colour and jolly characters; Larry, Bob and Nulle6 are throwing a tea party, and I’m their guest. Wanting to give me a perfect welcome, they give me a gorgeous headband with a golden bow7. What an amazing scene! Rabbit in a hurry keeps going. Inside a kitchen cupboard I find a bag of multicoloured beans8 and a bright red rocket9. Rabbit winks at me. I taste a pink bean. Dizzy spell. Here I am, sitting astride the rocket and flying over Paris, from Notre-Dame to the Tuileries gardens, a fascinating, magic, child-friendly Paris10. My vision is blurred. In a flash I’m back in the showroom. The rabbit is still indulging in his frantic race, now driving a black and yellow car11. He points at a red car12. So many adventures for one single day! Had someone ever told me that one day I would be racing with a white
rabbit in the middle of the showroom, I would never have believed them! I’m driving fast, zigzagging between majestic high chairs that look like stately thrones13, driving past a laughing elephant14, then rushing through a colourful house15… White Rabbit is driving away and disappears. Blank screen. The phone rings, drawing me out of my sweet torpor as though I were waking up. Sitting at my desk, I’m back to my familiar environment. White Rabbit sits still while diffusing a soft and soothing light. What was this strange dream? White Rabbit seems to smile at me. Come on, it’s a lamp! Well don’t we all know after all that anything is possible at LFG?
