The Margie Prettyman Award was established to honor the many years of dedicated service of Margie Prettyman, who began her career at UK HealthCare in 1994. She served as an administrative assistant in the UK College of Medicine Department of Radiology from 2006 until her passing in October 2018, and made a tremendous impact in the lives of all who knew her. This award is intended to recognize a department of radiology employee who exemplifies UK HealthCare’s core values and demonstrates the compassionate service that defined Margie Prettyman’s career.

• Realized 5.1% increase in imaging/procedure volume and 9.7% increase in professional wRVUs (FY23 vs FY22)

• Despite high volumes, decreased average verified report turnaround time: 3.37/hr (FY23) vs. 3.43/hr (FY22)

• Post-pandemic, maintained “round-the-clock” on-site/remote availability of emergency radiologists

• Maintained “evening” neuroradiology and “body” (chest and abdomen) coverage until 12 midnight daily

• Outfitted full-time faculty, part-time contracted radiologists, and fellows with remote workstations

• Sustained faculty participation in 24 adult and pediatric multidisciplinary disease/clinical care teams

• Expanded major contract: took on all after-hours emergency patients/inpatients for Rockcastle (May 23)

The department of radiology enthusiastically supports the research mission across the University of Kentucky, the College of Medicine, UK HealthCare, and beyond. 11TH ANNUAL HAROLD D. ROSENBAUM, MD, ADDRESS AND DEPARTMENT OF RADIOLOGY GRADUATION CEREMONY

In 2011, the department established an annual lectureship in honor of Dr. Harold D. Rosenbaum. This award recognizes his distinguished leadership as the first chair of radiology at the University of Kentucky and as one of the longest serving chairs of radiology in the country.

Retiring in 1992 after 33 years of service, Dr. Rosenbaum’s career was punctuated by many milestones, including performing the first heart catheterization in Kentucky and creating the country’s first physician assistant training program in diagnostic radiology. Dr. Rosenbaum’s vision and dedication laid the foundation for the thriving department we see today. About Dr. Rosenbaum

About Dr. Gibson

Joshua Gibson, MD is a graduate of Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency training at the University of Kentucky, where he served as chief resident, and neuroradiology fellowship training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Gibson joined Radiology, Inc. in Huntington, W.Va., in 2013, became partner physician in 2015, and currently serves as the chair of operations and MRI medical director for the group. He is the medical director for the department of radiology at Logan Regional Medical Center and maintains a clinical assistant professor appointment at Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine for the departments of radiology and neurology.
